Now if that isn't a good question. Will the firehouse be invited to Cabo if they decide to do a vow renewal there?
Chapter 5
It should be one of the easiest questions for Gabby to answer: of course, she wanted her friends to be at her vow renewal. She would love to have Stella there as her maid of honor, which is what she would be due to the fact that there's no one else that she could. Though, if Shay was still alive, then she most certainly would be her maid of honor. But, that wasn't a possibility now due to the fact that she died, which was the entire reason she had to deal with Sylvie for so long, because they switched places. Then again, had she not switched places with Shay, then she and Matt would've never had this life with each other. A life which they love sharing with each other, due to the fact that they love each other more than anything in the entire world. Though, when it came to her and Matt renewing their vows, the question of guests came down to that question: Sylvie or no Sylvie. Her preference? No Sylvie.
Though, the problem with that wish is that she can't control just who comes to Mexico; she could easily come to Cabo when the entire firehouse goes, as there was no doubt in her mind that she would find out why. And that was why she was so conflicted over whether Stella would be at her vow renewal. Though, the same couldn't be said for Matt as he already knew: of course, he was going to invite the firehouse to his and Gabby's vow renewal. "Stella don't be ridiculous! Of course, we're going to invite you guys down to Mexico if we do a vow renewal." Turning her head and reaching for Matt's hand when he said that, Gabby took a breath due to the fact that she didn't know whether that was going to be the case in this situation. "Matt." Matt then looked at Gabby when she said that. "Wait, what? You don't want the firehouse to be there for us?" Turning their heads when Matt said that, everybody got curious.
After all, that was a huge shock for the two couples. "Is that true Gabby?" Stella asked her best friend, unsure of whether or not that was the case. "Do you not want us to be there?" Gabby sighed as she leaned back against the counter and just thought about what she could say, as this was hard. Of course, she wants them there; she just doesn't want a certain person there, which could easily happen if they come. Hell, she was still horrified over the fact that she was at her and Matt's courthouse wedding (holding their son nonetheless) in the first place. So, she wanted to take precautions. "Ok. I need you guys to hear me out. This isn't easy for me to say, and that's why you need to hear me out." Gabby said, prior to turning her head and looking at the man she loves. "Same goes for you Matt, I need you to hear me out and understand what I'm saying." Matt nodded, as that was something he could do for his wife.
So, he decided to listen to what she had to tell him. "Let me just start by saying this. Under no circumstances is this at all related to you guys. In my dream world, I would have you guys there with us. I would have you in Mexico, with us, as we renew our vows." All of their friends agreed with Gabby when she said that, as they knew that was the truth. "However, there's a wildcard here. I don't know what's going to happen to Sylvie." Confused, everybody looked at Gabby as if she was crazy; after all, what did Sylvie have to do with this. "What do you mean, Gabby? What does Sylvie have to do with us coming or not coming to your hypothetical vow renewal?" Gabby sighed as she looked at them all. "Guys, Sylvie held our son and was there when we got married. She saw how much I loved Matt, and I thought she was my friend at the time. I trusted her with my life, each and every time we went on a call." Everybody agreed.
After all, that was the truth. "And then, that last call happened. The person I trusted with my life not only hurt me on a call, but also abandoned a patient. If I can't trust her to treat me properly, to not injure me on the job, to not abandon a patient, or to flirt with my MARRIED husband while I'm away due to something she did to me…then how can I trust her to be around me on the most important day of my life?" Thinking about what Gabby said, everybody agreed. "And yes, I'll admit that I could easily just invite you guys. That I could just invite our family, Boden, Herrmann, the people I trust at the firehouse….but, we all know what would happen in the process. You guys would bring your invites to the firehouse and gossip about oh, this is when the vow renewal/real wedding is. Sorry, that's what I can want to call it." Turning her head, Gabby looked at her husband. "Can we call it that? This is not just a vow renewal."
Matt was confused. "It isn't?" Gabby smiled. "This is a wedding. I'm going to pack a nice, white dress. You're going to pack a nice, comfortable, beach wedding attire. And this is our wedding. I can't call that courthouse thing our wedding anymore. We got married in turnout gear." Matt nodded, as that was the truth; they most certainly did get married in turn out gear at the firehouse. "That we did." Gabby nodded. "So, I want our wedding to be perfect. And perfection means no Sylvie, no drama, just love." And that was when Gabby turned her head to look at her friends once more; the people she wants to have at the event more than anything, but just knows could easily cause problems if they came. They could bring Sylvie with them, which was the last thing that she wanted to have happen on her big day. "Guys, I love you guys. You know that." Everybody agreed with Gabby, as they knew that was the truth.
They knew that she loved them, which is why she would want them at the wedding. "I would love to have you there. And if it can happen, then maybe we could do it. I mean, Andy…we could probably get you down there." Andy was confused when he heard Gabby say that. "How can you get me down there?" Gabby smiled. "You've been married to Heather for over 15 years. You can just say that you guys decided to take a family vacation for your 15th wedding anniversary. Oh, and you just so happened to pick the same resort during the time period as us, and you were there when we were doing a vow renewal." Matt and Andy both smiled, as that was the truth. "Ok. You are so doing that. Gabby, you put that idea in my head. I mean, I at least need to have my best man there." However, that pissed Stella off. "Ok. So, you get to have your best man, but Gabby doesn't get to have her maid of honor?" Gabby groaned.
After all, this was complicated; and it was all because of what her husband said. So, she turned her head and looked at Matt. "Do you want to have me later? Do you want to have me naked in the ocean as we try for a baby?" Matt smirked, as that sounded incredible. "Oh, I love that idea." Matt said, as he wrapped his arm around Gabby and leaned in to kiss her cheek. However, that wasn't happening right now. "Calm down. We have friends over." Matt agreed. "And you need to watch your words. If you get me in trouble with Stella because of more idiotic stuff you say, then you sir are not going to get me in the ocean." Matt nodded, as he knew that he was starting to make her mad. And the last thing Matt needed to do was make his wife mad, when they were trying to repair their marriage. "Yeah. So, just shut up before you cause me some trouble with Stella, who I'm going to need while we're away."
Confused, Stella looked at Gabby. "Why are you going to need me?" Gabby sighed. "I heard that Didrikson is retiring, and Herrmann may be moved to Lieutenant on Engine 51?" Matt agreed, as that was the rumor. "Yeah, that's the rumor." Gabby agreed. "That means that Herrmann is about to get much busier. That means, while I'm away…you may be Molly's only full-time employee who is also my friend. So, that means that I may ask you to take over management." And that was when Heather decided to chime in. "Hello? What about me? I don't work a full-time job, and I can easily join. In fact, why haven't you asked me to work at the bar yet? I would love to get out of the house on shift days now that the boys can watch themselves." Griffin was scared when Heather said that. "And what about the car? I need to go see Maya sometimes." Hearing that name for the first time, Gabby as confused. "Sorry, who's Maya?"
Gabby asked, not knowing who Maya was. Then again, how could she when she was out of the loop for the past couple months? So, Matt decided to bring his wife up to speed on who Maya is. "Oh, she's Griffin's girlfriend, who he thought he got pregnant a couple weeks ago." Turning their heads when Matt said that, Andy and Heather were both shocked. "WHAT!" They each said in unison, with Andy adding on. "You got your girlfriend pregnant before marriage?" Griffin looked at his hypocrite of a father when he said that, before turning his head to look at Matt. "Ok. I have to things to say, and you do not get to say anything about this dad!" Andy was confused when Griffin said that but couldn't say anything as he just kept on talking. "First, Matt. I came to you in confidence. Godson-to-godfather. That was to stay between us, until I figured out a way to talk to my parents. I asked you for advice, not to disclose."
Matt gulped, as he knew that was the truth; meanwhile, Griffin turned his head to look at his parents. "For mom, it was a false alarm. She's not pregnant." Heather then let out a sigh of relief, as she wasn't ready to be a grandmother yet. "Thank god. I am not ready to be a grandmother yet." After which, Griffin added on. "And to you, dad; I'm Maya. I didn't break up with her, only to get back together when we thought that she was pregnant!" Kelly laughed when Griffin said that, as that was the truth; only for Gabby to add on something. "Uhm, Kelly. Yeah, want me to remind you about what you thought about Renee until Shay did the math?" Kelly then shut up when Gabby brought that up, as that was the truth. "Yeah, I'm just going to shut up now." Everybody agreed with Kelly, as they thought that was the wise thing for him to do. "I think that's a wise thing for you to do, Mr. Severide."
Everybody just laughed as they heard Severide say that, as that was a good idea. "So, let's get back to you guys. What are you guys thinking about your trip? Are you guys ready for it? Do you have ideas as to what you guys want to do on your trip?" Matt laughed, as he had a bunch of ideas. "Well, I want to sleep in. God, I'm going to love being able to sleep in every day for the rest of my life." And let's just say that didn't go down well with Andy, Heather, Griffin, Kelly or Stella. "Shut up!" They all said at the same time, with Kelly (the most senior officer of the group now). "May I remind you that we're still working at the CFD, unlike the both of you. By the way, are you going to come back if Sylvie is fired Gabby?" Gabby bit her lip when Kelly asked her that question, as she didn't know what to say. Would she do that for Chief Boden if he asked, even if just temporarily? "Gabby, do you really want to relive the past?"
Gabby then thought about it, as she knew precisely what Matt was talking about: how she would be working in the same place where she was hurt both by the person she trusted the most, as well as he own husband. "I mean, I would support you whatever you decided to do when it comes to work; but, do you really think that it's a good idea when you have so many bad memories there? Between how our time there together ended, to how your last shift with Sylvie went, and then the memories with Shay? Hell, I'm still wondering all these years later if you're not dealing with PTSD or survivor's guilt about that day." Gabby sighed, as she does live with survivor's guilt from that day. "Did you really have to bring that up?" Matt sighed, as he knew that; only to have Kelly ask Gabby a question about that. "No, you don't have survivor's guilt from that day, do you Gabby?" Gabby sighed as she turned her head to look at Kelly.
After all, she does have survivor's guilt that day. "Ok. There's something you and Andy need to know, that only Matt knows." Kelly agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Me and Shay switched places that day." Placing his hand on Gabby's back, Matt knew that this was hard for her to recount to Kelly, especially when he was such close friends to her. So, he pressed his lips to the side of Gabby's head as a way to make her feel better. "Hey, it's ok. It's all ok babe. Things are ok." Gabby agreed with her husband and took a breath, well aware that was the case. "I know, it's just hard to think about how close I was to never having my dream come true; my dream of being with you for the rest of our lives, of being your wife and the mother of our children." Kelly agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Gabby, I had no idea that you carried that weight with you all these years. I mean, I know that I grieved for Shay…"
Taking a breath, Kelly thought about how he was when Shay died; how he shut everybody out, how he ran away. Though, in hindsight, he feels like he had no right to do so considering he wasn't even in the ambo with her at the time of the event. "In hindsight, I feel like an idiot for what I did." Confused as Kelly said that, Gabby looked at one of her husband's best friends while asking what he meant when he said that. "What do you mean?" Kelly sighed. "I ran away and went to my cabin when Shay died, and I wasn't even in the Ambo with you guys when she died. How did I get away with that, when I didn't have to go through what you did." Gabby sighed, as she knew that was a really good question. "We all grieve in our own ways. Some people push people away, others try and pull people in. That's how me and Matt are." Andy snickered when she said that. "Really? Matt pulled us in when Hallie died?"
Gabby agreed as she defended her husband. "He leaned on me. I was there for him every step of the way." Heather laughed when she heard Gabby say that. "You sure that wasn't just you sticking your claim on him?" Gabby then turned her head and looked at Heather, as she was insulted that she would even say such a thing. She thought they were friends, yet here she was insulting her in her own home. Then again, she also knew that she had a way to defend herself: how she put her family before her feelings for Matt, as she didn't act on her feelings when her husband needed his best friend to help him with the boys when she was in prison for her DUI. "Heather. Uhm, this was right around the time you had your DUI situation, just to remind you." Heather gulped, as she knew that. "And because I knew the boys needed Matt, I held back on acting on my feelings for him so that he could be there to help Andy."
Heather nodded, as that the timeline most certainly did line up. "So, no. I wasn't sticking my claim on him, because I backed off when he was okay. I backed off and dated someone else, before me and Matt got together. Though, I did only date him to distract myself so that I could let him concentrate on Andy and the boys, while you were in prison for a DUI. So no, I wasn't sticking my claim on him; please, do not say something like that again, as you haven't dealt with the type of death that me and Matt have. He lost his fiancé; I lost my best friend in fires. Yes, I'm happy you haven't lost Andy in a fire, even though you came close to doing so a couple times; but, never in a million years would I think of saying something like you just did." Setting her place to the side, Gabby decided to get up due to the fact that she needed a moment to herself. After all, she was furious at the moment that her friend just said that.
Looking at his best friend's wife after his own wife got up to walk away to their room, prior to slamming the door to their room shut, Matt sighed as he was just as insulted that Heather said what she did. It was wrong, and she knew that. "Matt…" Matt just looked at Heather when she said that. "Save it, Heather. You know that me and Gabby haven't had an easy time of late, as you know everything that's gone on in our marriage because I told you. And for you to insult her the way you just did was wrong, and you know it. Heather, you want to know what you did right now?" Heather nodded. "You just slut shamed her. And, you insulted me. I was the one that asked for her help, the one who asked her to be with me; because I already knew that I had feelings for Gabby, but I didn't want to pursue them due to the fact that it wouldn't be fair to her since I still had feelings for Hallie and was dealing with her death."
Heather nodded, while staying silent. "You know first hand how I was doing; how broken I was. You saw it when I came to try and celebrate father's day with you, Andy, and the boys. You knew that I was hurting and in no place to be dating. So, if you knew that…then the entire firehouse knew that, especially Gabby." Heather nodded, as she knew that. "She stood by and let me get emotionally abused by Hallie, who never wanted kids. She knew that we weren't right for each other, yet she didn't say anything. She stayed quiet, and she didn't say anything because she knew that I was in love with her. So, if she did that while she was alive, I have no idea why you would think that she'd do anything else when I was grieving for the woman I proposed to. I thought I was going to marry Hallie someday, and I didn't marry her. That was hard on me, and we took our time; we did it right, and at our own pace."
Heather agreed with Matt as he said that, while he got up due to the fact that he had to go check on his wife. "If it's okay with you guys, I'm going to go check on Gabby." Matt said, prior to turning around and walking away to his and Gabby's room so that he can check on his wife. Meanwhile, Andy turned his head to look at his wife; because for once, he couldn't defend his wife or what she said. "Heather, I hate to say this, but I can't defend what you said. I love you, but that was crossing the line." Kelly agreed with Andy. "I have to agree Heather, as everything she said was right. You haven't experienced the type of death we have. We've lost friends in fires, you haven't. And I know that's because you've chosen to stay out of the firehouse, but that doesn't mean that you have the right to judge her; especially not after everything she's been through over the years, and how she just lost another baby this past summer."
Stella sighed, as she knew that was one of the reasons why she got so emotional just now. "I have no doubt in my mind that she's still dealing with some of those emotions to this day, even though she's home with Matt now. Sure, she may have dealt with it in Puerto Rico, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt to share that she lost another baby." Heather agreed, as she knew that was the truth. "Maybe I should go apologize." Kelly sighed. "I think you might have already pushed her over the edge. That's a bit too much, especially when she did put Andy and the boys before her feelings for Matt. She could've easily acted upon them the moment he was done grieving for Hallie, but she didn't; rather, she let him help take care of Andy and the boys like a good godfather does." Stella agreed with Kelly, as that most certainly is how she saw it too. Though, she also saw something else: how they failed their friends.
After learning everything they did today, in retrospect, she saw the times where she knew that their friends needed their help; she saw the signs, but never did anything to help them. None of them did, which was something they had to admit to themselves: they failed their friends, and they needed to admit that in public. "Can I also say that, we all need to apologize to our friends?" Turning their heads, Heather, Andy, and Kelly were all confused when Stella said that. "What are you talking about, Stella?" Kelly asked his girlfriend, truly perplexed as to what she was talking about. Meanwhile, Stella sighed. "Guys, didn't you guys play back some of the events they mentioned when they spoke to us? Some of the things we should've noticed, but didn't? Or maybe we did notice, but didn't act on?" Everybody then realized what Stella was talking about: the signs that their relationship wasn't in the best state at the time.
And therefore, it was times like then that they should've stepped up to try and help their friends. "I mean, I haven't known them as long as you guys have; I didn't know Gabby when she had her ectopic pregnancy, when Hallie died, when Shay died. I didn't know them at the time, because I wasn't at the firehouse. But, you guys did know them, and that means that you guys knew their background and some of the stuff that they dealt with. So, I think we all know that there were times where we should've realized that there were times where we should've spoken up and tried to help our friends when we saw those cracks." Andy agreed, as he came to that same realization over the summer when he spoke to Matt. "I was worried that I was the only one that felt that way, as I came to that realization over the summer when me and Matt shared some beers and spoke about the state of his marriage."
Kelly was confused when he heard Andy say that. "When did you do that? I don't remember us talking about his marriage much this summer." Andy sighed. "That's because you wouldn't understand, Kelly. You aren't married, never have been." Putting his hand up, Kelly wanted to correct his friend; only to have Andy shut him down, as that wasn't real. "Oh, don't even bring up Brittany! That was all sex, and you know it!" Kelly then shut up, as he knew that was the truth. The two of them just fooled around, and they were never truly married. "You're right." Andy agreed. "You're not a parent, you've never been a parent, you've never lost a child, and you've never dealt with marital problems like they have. Me and Heather can relate, due to the fact that we've been married for almost two decades." Heather then slapped her husband's arm. "And our parents said we'd never make it past two years!"
Andy corrected his wife. "No, your DAD said we'd never make it past two years. Your mom was in love with me, because I made her little girl happy. Your dad was mad that I was aiming to be a firefighter, because that wasn't a real job." Hearing his dad say that, Griffin decided to ask his parents a question. "Is that why you don't want me to tell grandpa that I'm joining the CFD?" Turning their heads when Griffin asked them that question, Heather and Andy both sighed as they knew that they stepped right into that question.
Joining his parents and co-workers in the living room, Griffin smiled as he went to hug Kelly. "Congrats on the girlfriend. You should bring her by sometime, introduce her to the firehouse. She's part of us now. One of the Firehouse WAGs." Confused when he heard that term for the first time, Griffin looked at Kelly. "WAGs? What's that?" Kelly snickered. "Wives and Girlfriends." Turning her head when she heard her boyfriend say that, Stella cleared her throat. "Hey!" Turning around to look at his girlfriend, Kelly was confused. "Hey, what?" Stella looked at Kelly when he said that. "Seriously? Wives and girlfriends? Last time I checked, this wasn't the 20th century, or the early 20th century. There's a bunch of female firefighters now, which means that there's more than just wives and girlfriends in the CFD." Heather agreed with Stella. "Preach!" Stella agreed. "Oh, and what about the paramedics? They're straight."
Looking at Kelly when he said that, Stella decided to give her boyfriend a reality check: "You do realize that Foster is Bi, right?" Kelly then remembered that. "Oh." Stella agreed with Kelly when he said that. "Oh, is right. Also, isn't one of the Deputy Commissioners a woman? Oh, and the head of OFI?" Kelly shook his head. "Nope, that's my friend Van Meter." Andy was confused when Kelly said that. "I thought Duffy was head of OFI?" Kelly shook his head once more. "Nope. He's the one that attempted suicide because he was caught in a crime. He jumped off the bridge with a brick chained around his neck." Andy agreed, as he remembered him. "Right, the one you testified against. The Maddox case." Kelly agreed. "He was from when Gabby worked there." Stella was confused when Kelly said that. "Gabby worked at OFI? When?" Heather sighed. "While she was pregnant the first time around." Stella agreed.
After all, that makes sense. Of course, she'd work at OFI to make sure that she was safe during her pregnancy. "Unfortunately, that was also where she started to lose the baby. It was hard. Boden was there though." Andy nodded. "I can still remember how Matt was that day, how hurt and scared he was that she wasn't going to be okay. I think she almost bled out once." Upon hearing Andy say that as he came out of his and Gabby's room, Matt took a breath as he didn't understand why his friend was talking about his wife's miscarriage. "Remind me why you're talking about my wife's miscarriage?" Turning his head, Andy looked at Matt. "Matt…" Matt sighed. "Listen, me and Gabby need to take a minute. And she told me that she needs to take her time right now. She's frustrated and insulted, especially in her own home. Heather, you really hurt my wife with what you said." Heather agreed, as she knew that. "I know, Matt."
Matt agreed with his best friend's wife as she said that, as he knew that she was aware of the fact that she hurt Gabby. "And I know that the last thing you wanted to do was hurt her, but you did. And right now, she's not in the mood to see you guys. So, me and her are going to take our time and finish eating, then we'll come join you at the bar. Kelly, if you can just lock up. You know the code to the house." Kelly agreed, as he can do that. "We can clean up too, if you want." Matt agreed, as he'd really like that. "Thanks. I hope to see you guys at the bar." Matt said, as he grabbed his and Gabby's plate to take them to their room, only to have Heather take a breath as she knew that she screwed up. After which, she turned her head and looked at Andy. "How about we just finish eating, then we can head to your parents' place and drop the boys off?" Turning his head, Griffin was confused. "Aren't I coming to Molly's with you?"
Turning their heads once more, Heather and Andy both laughed. "It's a bar, Griffin. We don't care if you're a member of the firehouse now…" Heather started, as that was the truth. "You're not old enough to drink. If you want, you can text Maya and we can drop you off at her place if that's what you want. But, you are not coming to the bar with us." Ben and Griffin both groaned. "I wanted to get some of those wings." And that was when Stella decided to add on. "The beer doesn't operate until noon, anyways. I think they'd be good to come until then. And even then, we still have the patio. They can always go sit out there, away from the bar if you're worried about them drinking." Kelly agreed with Stella. "Plus, you guys need to let Griffin hang out with us. Technically, you can't stop him from doing so anymore because he's an adult." Griffin agreed. "Yeah, I'm an adult now. You can't control what I do and don't do."
Andy sighed, while Kelly added on. "Though, you may not be in the conversation as much due to the fact that you can't be that close to the bar as you're underage. You can't drink, and I know that me, your parents, and Matt and Gabby are going to be closer to the bar; especially Stella, since she has to work the bar this afternoon." Stella agreed, as that was true. "Yeah, so this isn't just a party for me. Rather, I need to actually work." Heather agreed. "Well, that just means that I need someone to spend time with." Andy agreed. "I'll be there with you, and I'm staying sober anyways. I'm going to do a day shift tomorrow." Confused, Heather turned her head to look at her husband. "Why?" Andy sighed. "I'm going to do one last shadowing of a Lieutenant. One where I'm not going to be distracted by our son being at the firehouse with me or having my friends there to distract me too." Heather agreed and nodded.
After all, that made sense why he wanted to do a shadowing tomorrow. "That's smart." Kelly agreed, as it was smart. "I never thought of doing that before I took over squad, Andy. I have to give you props, because that's smart." Andy snickered. "That's because you're a born leader. I mean, your dad was a Battalion Chief and a leader at OFI. So, you didn't need to be trained on how to be a Lieutenant when you have a dad like Benny Severide. How is he, anyways?" Kelly smiled when Andy asked him that question, as his dad is doing good. "He's doing good, thanks for asking. But listen, I think Matt and Gabby want some time here without us. So, we may want to get eating and then we can leave. That way, they can have a bit of time alone before we go to Molly's." Everybody agreed, as they knew that was probably what Matt and Gabby wanted right now: a bit of time to concentrate on each other, without them being here.
Sitting in bed with each other shortly after finishing their breakfast, Matt and Gabby both sighed as they knew that this was hard on them; the way they reacted to what Heather said wasn't rational in any means, but it was to them. What she said was hurtful, and that was why the two of them were currently sitting in bed and holding each other at the moment: as it was what they needed to do right now. And thanks to Matt holding her in his arms, Gabby felt relaxed. "Thanks for holding me like this for a bit." Kissing the side of his wife's head, Matt agreed as he knew that this was what she needed at the moment. She needed to take some time and just relax, due to the fact that she got overwhelmed out there. "I know, what she said was wrong." Gabby agreed as she looked up at her husband now that they were done eating. "Can I ask you a question?" Matt agreed. "Of course." Gabby sighed. "Is that really how I acted?"
Surprised that his wife would even dare to ask him that question, Matt shook his head due to the fact that under no circumstances did she act as if she was staking her claim on him. "No, of course, not! Babe, you never did that. You know that." Gabby agreed with her husband and sighed, as she was starting to wonder. "I was just worried, because if Heather saw that…" Gabby shook his head, as he didn't see that. "No, I didn't see that whatsoever. Under no circumstances do I want you to think that you ever wanted that way, as you didn't. You never stalked me the way Sylvie did, and you let me take my time to grieve. And for that, I appreciate it. You did everything right, and I am so glad that everything turned out the way it did. You're a great friend for how you went about the situation, and I'm proud to call you my wife." Gabby agreed, smiling as she heard Matt tell her that. "And I love being your wife."
Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, smiling as he pressed his lips to her forehead this morning. "I just hate that you were treated the way you were. Both out there, and on your last day at work. That wasn't fair to you, and I only wish that I could go back and change everything that happened that day. I mean that, Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she knew that he meant that. "I know, babe. I know that. And I promise that we're going to figure out a way forward. We're going to make the most of our time away, so that we can have fun and just concentrate on each other." Matt agreed, as that most certainly is the truth. They're going to concentrate on having fun with each other, which is everything the two of them want to do right now. "I can't wait. That's going to be so much fun. Just the two of us, having fun in Mexico." Gabby nodded. "If only it could start tomorrow, rather than Friday." Matt smiled.
After all, that sounded great. And if that was what Gabby wanted, then he could probably try and push the reservation up. "Do you want me to call the hotel and see if we can push the reservation up?" Gabby sighed as she turned her head and looked at the man she loves. "I think we should just stick to the plan. Right now, we have things set up. Things will be okay." Matt agreed with his wife, as he felt the same way. "Do you still want to go to the restaurant after what happened here today?" Gabby sighed, as she didn't know what she wanted to do. Did she want to go spend time with all of their friends? Or did she want to escape the drama? "Maybe we can just take a breather, do a bit of packing. Then, when we're both ready, we can go to the bar and spend time with our friends." Matt agreed, as that was a good plan; something he showed Gabby by pressing his lips to her forehead. "I just hope Sylvie isn't there."
Gabby agreed, as she felt the same way. The last thing she wanted, was to run into Sylvie when she's at her bar.
