Talk about drama. Only a few chapters into the story, and we already got some drama. But, the question is…will there be more now?
Chapter 6
Molly's – The two couples already knew what Matt would say if they were here: what happened at their place should've never happened, as the last thing they wanted to have today was drama. Yet, that was precisely what they ended up having at their place: a bunch of drama. And that was why Stella was worried the entire time she was sitting here at the bar, wondering whether Matt and Gabby would even show up. Then again, she wouldn't blame them if they decided to stay away after what happened at their place. She could just sense it when they left: Gabby was hurt, and she didn't want to talk about that. So, she could only hope that she was okay. Then again, she wasn't the one who should be worried about that; rather, Heather should be the one who was worried about that. And as Stella turned her head to look at Heather this morning, she could see that she was worried. "You worried?"
Turning her head to look at Stella when she asked her whether she was worried, Heather nodded as she was worried. She was worried over whether she pushed Gabby over the edge, which may mean that she doesn't come today. "I want her to come, and I'm worried that I may have done something that may lead to Gabby not wanting to come." Confused as he heard his brother-in-law's best friend's wife say that, Antonio Dawson decided to ask just what Heather meant when she said that. "Can I ask what you mean by that, Heather?" Turning her head when she heard someone talk to her, Heather smiled when she saw Antonio. "Antonio, didn't see you there." Antonio smiled. "Matt and Gabby said that they were coming here to make an announcement to the firehouse, so I decided that I may as well be here; that way, I can find out that I'm going to have a niece or nephew first." Kelly sighed, as that wasn't it.
And that made him realize something: he must not have spoken to his sister recently. "Haven't you spoken to your sister recently? About what happened in her life over the past couple months?" Stella looked at Antonio when Kelly asked that question, as she decided that it'd be best to specify what he was talking about. "Maybe, about what happened in their personal life, things he said, and what happened when it came to their quest to have a family?" Antonio nodded, as he knew precisely what Matt said. "Oh, I already know what Matt said. And we had some words this summer, as that wasn't acceptable. Though, I have spoken to them recently and it seems that they're back in a good place. We had a family supper last night, which is how I knew that they were coming here today to talk to you guys as friends. Though, it seems like you guys already know somehow?" Andy nodded, as they did already know.
And that was due to the fact that they were summoned to Matt and Gabby's home earlier so that they could learn everything, which they weren't going to share with the firehouse. "They shared with us some things that they have no intention with sharing with the rest of the firehouse, with the exception of Boden." Antonio agreed. "I assume you're talking about what Sylvie did to her on her last call?" And as if on cue, Sylvie decided to walk over to her friends. "What are you guys talking about?" Turning his head to look at Sylvie, Antonio was shocked at the audacity that she had to show up at his sister's bar. "What the fuck are you doing here?" Sylvie looked at Antonio when he said that, confused. "I could ask you the same thing, as I thought that you were in rehab." Looking at Sylvie when she said that, Heather shook her head. "And how is that any of your business when you aren't family?" Sylvie smiled.
After all, she was Gabby's best friend. "I'm quasi-family as Gabby's best friend." Antonio laughed when he heard Sylvie say that. "Best friends don't throw ambo bags at their best friend." Sylvie was shocked when she heard Antonio say that. "You know about that?" Andy then decided to add on. "We all know about that, including how you told Gabby that…if you can't ride with me on Ambo 61, then don't ride with me at all." Kelly agreed with Andy. "How dare you!" Sylvie was shocked. "Uhm, I have the right to say that due to the fact that I have a right to not be berated at the firehouse." Stella was shocked. "And my friend has a right to not have the ambo bag thrown at her." Sylvie agreed with her. "I know, and that's why I'm here. To apologize to her." Kelly shook her head. "There's no way that you can apologize to her and get you to forgive her, not when you did something worse." Confused, Sylvie looked at Kelly.
After all, what was worse than that? "I'm confused, what else did I do?" Heather looked at Sylvie when she said that. "I don't know, maybe flirting with her husband comes to mind." Antonio was appalled when he heard Heather say that, as he didn't think that Sylvie would stoop to that level. "Seriously? You flirted with my brother-in-law, while he was still married to my sister!" Sylvie shrugged. "I thought she was gone for good." And upon hearing Sylvie say that as she came into the bar with Matt, Gabby decided that she was going to speak to her; after all, she had a feeling that she was going to be here. As much as she prayed and wished that she wouldn't be here, she just knew that it was going to happen as she can't stay away from the people she loves. "Oh, you would've loved that; wouldn't you, Sylvie? That I stayed gone forever, so that you could take Matt from me? Be the one that makes him happy?"
Turning her head when she heard Gabby say that, Sylvie took a breath. "Gabby, how are you?" She said, trying to be put her best foot forward so that she didn't get yelled at her. "Oh, don't act all smart with me. Put on a fake smile, just to make me let you stay? Oh, that's never going to happen." Gabby said as she walked up to her brother and smiled. "How are you, Antonio?" Antonio smiled as he went to hug his sister. "I'm good. How are you doing? You already talk to Matt about that…" Matt agreed, as he knew about that. "Yeah, I know about what happened this summer." Sylvie was confused when she heard Matt say that. "What happened this summer?" Matt was shocked at the audacity of this woman to ask him that question. "None of your business." Sylvie was shocked, as Matt was never this hostile to her this summer. "What happened to you, Matt? It's like a light switch flipped on you today."
Matt looked at Sylvie when she said that. "Oh, I don't know; maybe the fact that you could've killed my wife!" Turning his head when he heard Matt say that, Antonio was confused; only to have Gabby remind him what he meant. "Aneurysm." Antonio nodded, as he remembered that now. "Right." After which, he made his way back over to Gabby to hug her. "How is that, anyways? Is everything okay? I know you said that you wanted to go to the doctor and check that out." Gabby nodded, smiling as she went to whisper in his ear. "It's gone in the aftermath of the miscarriage I had this summer." Leaning back, Antonio was surprised. "Shut up!" Gabby nodded, as that was the truth. Her aneurysm was gone in the aftermath of the miscarriage. "I know, it's great news. I love it, as it means that I can make Matt a father." That's when Gabby say Herrmann. "Baby, can you take care of this? I need to go talk to Herrmann."
Matt agreed, as he knew that was the truth: she had some business to take care of with him, as she hasn't gotten her cheques of her cuts of the profits. "I know. You need to get your money." Gabby agreed. "It'll be good spending money for our honeymoon." Antonio agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Right, you guys are…" Matt then decided to interrupt Antonio. "On a vacation, yes. That's all we're saying." Gabby agreed, only to walk away to go get her money. Meanwhile, Matt walked up to Antonio and went to whisper in his ear. "We don't want Sylvie to know where we're going, because we may do a vow renewal while we're there. So, we don't want her to show up if we decide to invite some of the firehouse." Antonio agreed, as that was reasonable. "Of course." Matt agreed with Antonio and smiled, only to look at Sylvie. "Hey Antonio, are you back on the force?" Antonio agreed, as he was back on the force.
Though, he didn't know why that was relevant. "Is there a reason why you need to know why I'm back at the CPD?" Matt nodded, as there was a reason why he needed to know. "Last time I checked, you have the power to arrest trespassers." Sylvie was confused, as she wasn't trespassing at a bar. "This is a public bar, I'm not trespassing." Matt nodded. "Yes, it is a public bar…but, we booked it for a private event. This is Gabby's homecoming party, and my retirement party from the CFD." Turning his head when he heard Matt say that. "Retirement?" Matt nodded. "You know what we have, of course." Antonio nodded, knowing not to say anything. "Retirement gets us health benefits. Quitting doesn't get us health benefits." Antonio smirked, as that was smart. "There's my smart brother-in-law." Matt agreed, as that was the truth; only to see that Gabby was hugging Boden. "Hey, listen. I need to go. Boden's here."
Antonio was confused. "Why does that matter?" Matt sighed as he looked at Antonio. "We're going to talk to him about what happened." Antonio nodded, as that made sense. Of course, they were going to tell him what happened. "Right, of course." Matt nodded and smiled as he turned his head to look at Sylvie. "So, buh-bye." Sylvie gulped, only to walk away so that she didn't get arrested; meanwhile, Matt looked at his friends. "First one's on the house." Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that. "It better be." Matt just looked at Kelly as he said that. "You spill, you pay for your meals in Cabo." Kelly was surprised. "I thought we weren't coming." Matt then gave him a bit of side-eye. "Kelly." Kelly then realized that. "Right, that's why you said it." Matt just shook his head, as his friend was quite stupid at times. "Andy, you make sure that you stay out of trouble. I have the power to recommend Captains."
Kelly looked at Matt when he said that. "No way in hell! You are not recommending HIM to be a captain, when I've been an officer for about the same amount of time as you. Hell, longer than you now." Matt looked at Kelly when he said that. "Yet, I still have seniority. Plus, I'm technically only on leave right now." Andy was confused. "Why?" Matt sighed as he looked at his friend. "Andy, I don't want to question your hypothetical leadership on Truck 81." Kelly snickered. "However, you tend to be a bit…clumsy at times." Andy sighed, as he knew that was the truth. "So, until you get your feet wet and you're more experienced as a Lieutenant; then, I'm going stay inactive just in case you get hurt. That way, there's a good replacement who can already jell with the team right away." Walking over to Matt as he said that, Boden smiled. "Now that's called leadership." Turning his head when Boden said that, Matt smiled.
After all, he thought that Gabby was talking to him. "I thought that Gabby was talking to you?" Boden agreed. "Yes, but I was hoping that you could join us in the back room. Gabby spoke to Herrmann and said that we can use the event room for this conversation, because she said that it was private, and she wanted it to happen away from everybody." Matt agreed with Boden, as he understood why that was the case; everybody did. "Of course. We'll be back guys." All of their friends agreed, only to watch Matt walk away so that he can talk with Boden and Gabby in the private room. But first, he turned his head and looked at Kelly and Andy. "Kelly, Andy; you guys are in charge of babysitting Antonio for us!" Antonio then turned his head. "Babysitting?" Matt glared. "I'm taking my wife on a honeymoon, the last thing I need is for her to worry about your alcohol problems." Antonio agreed, as that was true.
She always worried about him, which is the last thing she's going to want to do when she's on her honeymoon.
Event Room – Walking into the event room together, Matt and Boden both smiled at Gabby when they saw her sitting there; meanwhile, Matt walked over to his wife and smiled as he wrapped his arm around her. "Hey, if you wanted me to come, all you had to do was asked. Are you okay?" Gabby sighed as Matt said that, only to wrap her arm around his back. "I wanted to know if Sylvie was gone." Matt agreed, as she was. "I promise, she is. You have nothing to worry about." Gabby nodded as she cuddled up to Matt and wrapped her arms around him, only to feel Matt press his lips to her forehead as he whispered to her. "Hey, I'm here and you're safe in my arms." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the case. "I know, thanks." Matt agreed and smiled, more than ready to keep her safe for the rest of her life. "I'll always keep you safe, that's a guarantee." Gabby smiled as she truly loves her husband.
Meanwhile, she also knew that she needed to take it easy right now due to the fact that he former chief was here. "Ok. Listen, I want to just start by saying this. Boden, I need to start with what happened at the end of my time at the firehouse." Boden was confused, as he didn't understand. "What do you mean?" Gabby sighed. "I know that Matt already spoke to you about this, but I felt like I needed to apologize myself. Leaving like I did was wrong, and I should've spoken to you. But…" Boden then went to finish her sentence. "Things got hard for you in your personal life. Matt spoke to me about that." Gabby nodded, as that was the truth; while Matt decided to add on about what they were going to say. "Boden, if it's okay, we'd like to keep some of that private. But, I need to say that I had no idea until Gabby came back. Had I known, I would've told you right away." Boden agreed, as he knew that; but not what happened.
So, he decided to ask what they were talking about. "So, am I going to know what you guys are talking about?" Gabby sighed, as she knew that this was the time. "It's about my last shift. How things went between me and Sylvie." Boden agreed, as he figured that was the case. "Yeah, I heard that was a hard call. I still can't believe that you…" Matt then decided to interrupt Boden, as he wanted to make something clear to him. "Boden, let me stop you there. What Sylvie said to the firehouse, it was a lie. That's not what happened on her and Gabby's last call." Boden was surprised. "Oh." Gabby nodded. "Chief Boden, I know from Matt that you've been suspicious about the truth. And I can confirm that the story you've been told isn't the truth…and I have proof." Boden was confused and decided to cross his arms. "Oh, do you now? How can you prove that you didn't throw the ambo bag at Sylvie?" Gabby sighed.
After all, she knew this was coming. "The proof is the fact that I'm not the one that handled the ambo bag, chief." Boden then thought about that. "Chief, you know how things work on the ambo. The PIC doesn't deal with the ambo bag, that's the other paramedic due to the fact that we need to perform some procedures which only we can do as the PIC. I was the only one authorized to do some procedures, which is why I never carried the bag. That's the truth." Boden agreed, as he knew that was the truth. "God, how did I not think about that? Gabby, I'm so sorry." Gabby agreed with Boden. "I know Boden, believe me; she's a great story teller, as she even made Andy and Kelly believe her. And they've known me much longer than Sylvie. If our close friends believed her, then I understand why you believed her. But, it wasn't true. I was the injured party, and I was the one that got hurt because of her actions."
Boden agreed, as that was the truth. "Gabby, I'm so sorry that even happened to you. I truly mean that. That was unacceptable, and I know now that I need to act. And I will. I will take the right actions to fix this." Matt agreed with Boden as he said that. "I want a full investigation of the situation, and I would like for the video to be analyzed. I trust Gabby, but I want to see what happened myself; that way, I can see what can happen. Maybe see whether we can explore our legal options due to the fact that it turned out that this offence was much worse due to a medical condition Gabby had at the time." Boden was confused. "Gabby, you know that you needed to disclose that to me." Gabby sighed. "It happened just a few days before the shift. But, at the time of the shift, I had an aneurysm that could've killed me had it burst." Boden was horrified. "I was still in denial of the time and could barely figure it out."
Matt sighed as he heard Gabby say that. "We both were, as it was a crushing blow to us. We were trying to have a baby at the time, and the doctor told us that we couldn't due to the fact that it could kill Gabby. And then…" Gabby sighed, as she knew what Matt was about to say; so, she decided to tell Boden herself. "I was pregnant when I left Chicago. Me and Matt got into a fight about even getting pregnant due to my aneurysm, as it could kill me…but, that's private and not something that you need to worry about. I just needed to make sure that you knew the reality when it came to Sylvie. I couldn't let you keep her employed, when she assaulted me the way she did. It would be wrong and putting the citizens of Chicago at risk." Boden nodded, as he knew that was the truth. It could put the citizens of Chicago at risk. "Always thinking of others first." Matt agreed. "She did some great work in Puerto Rico."
Gabby smiled, as she knew that was the truth. "Thanks baby." Matt nodded as he wrapped his arm around her back, only to bend down and kiss the woman he loves. "I love you." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she loves him too. "I love you too. Now, Boden…we aren't going to share this with anybody else. We told Heather, Andy, Kelly, and Stella; but, we have no intention of telling the rest of the firehouse. We just felt like we needed to tell you due to the fact that we needed to warn you about Sylvie, and what she's capable of after what she did to me." Boden agreed, and he appreciated that she decided to do that; so, he got close to her and went to hug her. "Thank you Gabby, that was nice of you do to. And I'm sorry for what happened to you. That was wrong, and I hate that we even believed Sylvie for a moment." Gabby nodded. "Especially since you've known me for almost a decade, before you even met Sylvie."
Boden agreed, as that was the truth as well; he's known her for much longer, which is why he should've never believed Sylvie. "I know, Gabby. And for that, I will always regret my decision to believe Sylvie. I promise, I'm going to fix this." Gabby agreed with Boden. "I think that an appropriate punishment would be to retroactively demote her from PIC and doc her pay back to that of a paramedic. I'm sorry Chief, but that's the last you can do." Boden agreed, as that was something he could do. "I think that's something I need to do. She needs to be demoted, as she can't stay in the position she has at the moment. I'll do that for you Gabby." Gabby agreed with Boden as she got close to him, only to hug him. "I love the feeling of your hugs." Boden agreed, as he did too. "So, what does the future hold for you guys now that you guys have a bunch of time on your hand?" Matt smiled as he looked at Gabby.
They were sitting on some bar stools as they prepared to talk to their friends about their plans going forward. And let's just say that the first thing they disclosed to them was something shocking: the fact that they were both quitting the CFD. "So, this isn't just a quick trip?" Herrmann asked, truly wondering whether this was a quick trip. "No Herrmann, this isn't a quick trip. Me and Matt are actually planning on leaving to go to Cancun until at least our anniversary." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that was the truth. They were headed to Puerto Rico until their anniversary. "It's how long we need to go, as our marriage needs some work." Everybody was horrified when they heard Matt say that, especially Cindy. "Say it ain't so." Gabby nodded. "Yeah. Things have been rocky between us over the past couple months, so we need to take some time away to just figure out the future." Matt agreed, as he was more than ready to do that.
He was ready to take his gorgeous wife down to Mexico, where they can have a wonderful honeymoon with each other. "That, and me and Gabby haven't been on a honeymoon since we got married." Turning his head to look at his wife, Matt took a breath. "We can share whatever you want, Gabby. I know we said that we would keep some of it private with our closest of friends, but I want to leave it up to you." Gabby agreed with her husband and smiled, as she knew that she needed to let her family in. "Ok. So, we already told Heather, Andy, Kelly and Stella all of this when they were at our place." Herrmann was offended when he heard Gabby say that. "Wait, why did they get to know first?" Matt sighed, deciding to answer that question. "Because they're more than our friends and co-workers Herrmann. They're our family. Me, Kelly, and Andy are brothers. I'm Ben and Griffin's godfather and honorary uncle."
Griffin laughed when Matt said that. "Oh, will you just stop with the whole honorary uncle stuff, Matt? You know that you're more than just honorary to me. You're my uncle, period." Matt smiled as he heard Griffins ay that. "Now listen, I want to say this. Gabby, I need to take a minute to say something." Gabby agreed. "I know that I told you guys that I'm quitting. You all know that, and you know the reason." Everybody agreed. "But, I need to say this. I want to tell each and every one of you how much of an honor it was to be your Lieutenant and Captain over the years. Sure, I was only a Captain for a year; but, it feels like so much longer. And I definitely want to thank Herrmann. For you to take orders from a guy who was younger than you, it was something that I know was hard for you. But, you treated me with the respect that a Lieutenant should get. And I hope that you can give the same courtesy to Andy."
Everybody agreed with Matt when he said that, as they knew that he felt honored. "And, I also want to thank you all for being the family I needed over the past couple years. I said this to Gabby, but…as you guys know, I've been estranged from my family for a while. Yes, I'm getting closer to them now, but nowhere near as close as you guys. And that's why I'm proud to call you guys my family, because that's what you guys are to me. You guys have been there for me through some of the hardest time in my life. The hardest time in our lives." Gabby agreed as she held Matt's hand. "You were there for me when Hallie died. You gave me the grace to keep working there when I clearly wasn't in a good place, and you guys truly helped me during the hardest of times. You guys gave me the stability I needed, and that was everything to me. But most of all, you guys introduced me to the love of my life."
Smiling as Matt said that, Gabby rubbed his hand. "I can say the same thing." Matt nodded, smiling at the woman he loves. "However, I also want to make sure that you guys know that me and Gabby are going to be okay. I want to make sure that you all know that us leaving the firehouse isn't going to affect us financially. We have money, and we're going to be okay going forward. I just want you all to know that." Boden agreed. "Good, I was worried about that. I mean, you are leaving quite suddenly." Matt agreed with Boden. "I'm not going into details like we did with our best friends, but…" Matt took a breath. "I recently lost my grandparents." Everybody felt horrible when Matt told them that. "Oh, Matt." Cindy said, only for Matt to answer: "It's ok. I didn't really know them. But, they left me in their will. Turns out they had some money, but we aren't disclosing how much." Herrmann looked at Matt.
After all, they were business partners. "Any money to help us maybe expand the bar to make us more money?" Matt looked at Herrmann when he said that. "You mean, other than the reserves you have from not paying us our dividends all summer?" Everybody then turned their heads to look at Herrmann, as that wasn't nice of him. "Herrmann!" They all said, offended, which was when Cruz spoke up. "Gabby, I'm happy for you. And while I know not to go into details, I want to say that this is monumental for you. Regardless of how much you got, this is going to be great for your kids. We all know that Latinos are not known to have wealth. So, for you to maybe have generational wealth when you have kids is going to be nice." Smiling as Cruz said that, Gabby turned her head as she didn't even think about that. "I didn't think about that. But, that's the truth. Our kids will have generational wealth."
Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, as that most certainly is the truth. "Yes, they will. And I think that most certainly is something we're going to enjoy. The fact that our children will benefit from generational wealth is everything. But right now, we don't need to think about that due to the fact that we don't have kids yet." Herrmann agreed with Matt. "Oh, just wait. You guys are going to have kids sooner rather than later, that's something we all already know." Antonio snickered, as he loved the sound of that. "Oh, most certainly. My sister needs to make me an uncle and a godfather!" Turning his head when Antonio said that, Matt looked at Andy and Kelly. "See what I said? He already has dibs on godfather duty. Now, do you understand why I can't make you guys the godfather?" Kelly and Andy both agreed with Matt when he said that. "Oh, we get that now." Matt agreed and smiled.
After all, he was glad that they got the message loud and clear: he was stuck with Antonio being the godfather. "Maybe our second child." Gabby said, which made the boys smile. "I like the sound of that, our second child." Matt said, smiling due to the fact that he wants to have more than one kid with his gorgeous wife. So, he moved her hand to his lips and smiled as he kissed it. "I love you." Gabby agreed as she stared into his eyes, only to lean in and kiss the man of her dreams. "I love you too." Matt agreed as he leaned in and took things nice and slow with the woman he loves, well aware that she loves him. "I promise, we'll always have a nice life with each other." Gabby agreed, as she knew that was the truth; especially now that they finally came clean to their friends. Knowing that they had the truth out there was really nice, as it meant that their friends could support them the way they needed them to do so.
Once Matt and Gabby finished talking to their friends as a group, they decided to go ahead and speak to them individually, which, in the process, left Matt and Gabby to spend some time apart. And that was precisely why Herrmann had a chance to now talk to Gabby on his own. And boy was that nice, as Gabby wanted to tell him something; something which she hoped that he could keep private. "Herrmann, I'm glad that we have a chance to talk right now. But, I want to make sure that this stays between us. We weren't going to tell the entire firehouse." Herrmann agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Of course, kiddo. What is it?" Gabby sighed as she went to grab his hand. "I just want to thank you for the video you sent to me all those years ago." Herrmann was confused when he heard Gabby say that. "You mean, the one I sent you after you lost your baby?" Gabby sighed and agreed with her friend.
After all, that was precisely the video she was talking about. "That's precisely the video I'm talking about. I wasn't going to say anything to the rest of the firehouse, but me and Matt lost another baby this summer." And it was right then that Herrmann knew why she was bringing up the video. "Oh, Gabby. I'm so sorry." Gabby agreed with Herrmann. "I watched the video you sent us all those years ago again, and it did me wonders. I'm glad that I watched it, as it made me feel better." Herrmann agreed with Gabby, as he's glad that it made her feel better. "I'm glad that it made you feel better too, as nobody should have to deal with that more than once. And now, you've had to deal with it twice." Gabby agreed with Herrmann. "Three times." Herrmann was confused. "When was the other time?" Gabby sighed. "When I came back and told Matt." Herrmann agreed, as that made sense. Of course, it would hurt.
Which was when he decided to ask her a question. "Did you tell him to watch the video? Or do you want me to talk to him?" Gabby shook her head. "I just wanted to do this privately, as he had no idea that I was even going to say anything. If we say it out loud too many times, then we may need to talk about it. Though, I hope that you can keep it to yourself and Cindy. I'd rather not get a flood of text messages. I want to keep this private, and not have to deal with it with anybody other than Matt going forward." Herrmann agreed, as that was something he could do for Gabby. "Of course, Gabby. I can do that for you." Gabby smiled as she got close to Herrmann and hugged him once more, only to have him whisper in her ear. "I'm sorry about what happened with you and Matt. I want you guys to really make it work, as you guys are good together." Gabby smiled, as she felt the same way: they were good together.
And now that they were back together, she felt like they could really fix their marriage. "I think that me coming back is going to do us some good, because it'll allow us to fix our marriage." Making his way over to his wife, Matt agreed as he wrapped his arm around her. "I feel the same way." Herrmann smiled as he looked at Gabby. "Matt, I'm sorry for your loss." Matt then looked at Gabby. "You told him?" Gabby sighed. "I wanted to thank him again for the video he sent us the first time around, as it helped me out with dealing with this. I know, it wasn't what we said we wanted to do, but I thought that you'd be okay with it due to the fact that I was thanking him for that video again." Matt agreed, as that made sense. "Are you mad at me?" Matt shook his head as he proceeded to press his lips to the side of her head. "No, I want you to share our loss with the people you want to. I just want it to stay close to the vest."
Gabby agreed with her husband. "That way, we don't have everybody calling us to send their regrets, which is what'll happen if they all know. So, I hope you can promise me that you can keep this close to the vest, Herrmann?" Herrmann agreed, as that was something that he could do. "Of course, Captain. By the way, do you think that you're going to miss the firehouse?" Matt smiled as he turned his head and looked at the woman he loves. "No." Gabby was surprised. "Really?" Matt nodded. "I'll be too busy concentrating on my beautiful wife and our beautiful children." Herrmann agreed. "When do you think we can expect to have some news on a Casey baby?" Matt smiled. "December at the earliest." Herrmann agreed with Matt, only to have Gabby add on. "Probably more like January, as I may be a bit more cautious this time around." Matt looked at Gabby when she said that. "I may wait until after the first trimester."
Matt agreed, as he knew why she may want to do that: because of their first pregnancy. "We got everybody so excited about our first pregnancy, that it really hurt us when we grieved. I mean, at least that was how I felt. I don't want to tell everybody, only to have to share the news that we lost another baby. That was hard the first time, and I felt like I had everybody's eyes on me when I was grieving." Matt looked at Gabby when she said that, only to place his hand on her lower back as he stepped close to her and kissed the side of her head. "I'm so sorry that you felt that way babe. I wish I knew, as then maybe I could've changed how that all went down." Gabby agreed with her husband when he said that. "Of course. But, we're past that. Right now, we're going to concentrate on this new life we have with each other." Matt agreed, as that's precisely what they're going to do for the rest of their lives.
Standing in the corner of the bar with Gabby, Matt smiled as he wrapped his arm around her and kissed the side of her head as she leaned back against his chest. After which, he whispered into her ear. "I'm proud of you. I know how hard it was to share that news with me, but you seemed to do it quite easily with Herrmann." Gabby agreed, as it was easy for her to share the news with him. "The hardest person I had to share the news with was you, so everybody else is easy in my book." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as that made sense. "I get that." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled as she decided to turn around and look at the man she loves, only to wrap her arms around him and smirk as she leaned up and kissed the man of her dreams. "Thanks for being the man I need all the time, the man who supports me and loves me." Matt sighed, as that wasn't always the man he was. "Well, that's who I am now."
Gabby agreed with her husband as he told her that, smiling as she leaned in and kissed the love of her life. "I can't wait to get to Mexico with you, as it'll be so nice to get some time away with you." Matt smiled. "You know, we could always go to Los Angeles first. That way, we can get away right now. We can go spend a couple days in California, then go down to Mexico. We can't change the booking. But, we could look at places there too." Gabby shook her head. "We already have our tickets booked. First class O'Hare to Mexico. And that's nice." Matt agreed with Gabby, well aware that was the case. "I'm still ready to get away, as it's what we need. So, I'll wait. Just know that I can't wait." Gabby agreed with her husband when he said that, smiling as she leaned in and kissed him once more. "I love you. Now, let's just relax and take it easy." Matt agreed as they did just that.
