Chapter 4: The Teams Promise, The Crane's Departure.

When we last left Kimberly and her mother embraced while the tears flowed. while they were sitting in the middle of the driveway when there was a car pulled up alongside the curb park the door opened up and Pierre rushed over to embrace the two ladies he cared for.

"Oh, Pierre this isn't how I wanted you to see me," Caroline said

"Calm yourself cherie, I would suggest we take the party inside, I have a surprise for you both, so why don't you two go inside and get comfortable I will be along shortly," he said

A short time later Kimberly and Caroline were sitting in the family room discussing the opportunities in front of both of them.

"Are you nervous about leaving or is it just leaving Tommy?" Caroline questioned calmly to not upset her daughter knowing this was a sensitive subject.

"I...Both.. I mean I'll be all alone down there. I know this is something I've dreamed about after seeing it on TV when I was a little girl. I'm slightly scared and nervous, but I know I have the support of everyone and that helps a little." Kimberly said explaining how she felt.

"Well I don't mean to scare you, sweetie, however, I know you and your friends well enough to confidently say you will do wonderfully." Caroline knows a secret that has not been mentioned to anyone except four sets of parents.

"What are you going to do while you're away in Paris?" Kimberly questioned her mother.

"Well, I plan to use my degree in business and my talent for sewing to sell some of the dresses I have already made. If I sell them quickly I'll have something to do while Pierre is away painting." Caroline informed her daughter.

"Oh, so you won't be in a hotel or something?" Kimberly asked

"No sweetie, let me go check on dinner real quick." Caroline stood up and started to walk into the kitchen. Peirre met her at the door " Hello darling, dinner will be ready in just a moment." he said as he stepped into the room grabbed Caroline's hand, and escorted her back to the sofa where they both sat down as Peirre began to explain the question Kimberly was going to ask next.

"We will be staying at my estate just outside of the city. While we are there I will be holding an estate sale as well as my art. I will be selling everything on the grounds except a few things I feel may come in handy when we return around the time of the games. Which if our timing is correct should synchronize."

"Oh Wow," Kimberly said.

Caroline quickly sat up "If you in here who's cooking?" it finally dawned on her that he was sitting there and said dinner would be ready in a moment. At that momtent the doorbell rang.

"Now who could that be"? she asked

Peirre swiftly walked toward the door. Once he reached his destination he opened it revealing Caroline's parents Arthur and Amelia DuPont.

"Please come in, I would like to introduce you all," Pierre said as he shut the door and turned around.

Caroline and Kimberly stood in the doorway of the Family room and Foryee

"Well isn't this a pleasant surprise I thought you two were on a cruise?" she asked

"Pumpkin I had to tell you something or you would have worried if you called the house and didn't receive an answer," Amelia explained.

"Hello again Mr. and Mrs Dumah," Kimberly said as she moved to hug them after seeing them enter the little room.

"The meal is ready and waiting." Mrs. Dumah said.

"Well, why don't we get to the dining room," Pierre said

The group of seven sat down to enjoy some steak frites accompanied by French onion soup, and croque monsieur.

"This is quite the spread, what's the occasion?" Kimberly asked to which Pierre moved from his chair reaching into his pocket he pulled out a small box.

"Ma Petite Cherie I have spent my life painting some of the most beautiful pieces not once have I ever seen anything as wonderful as you, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife," Pierre said as he opened the small box.

"Oh my god!" Yes" Caroline said with tears in her eyes, she quickly wrapped Pierre in a hug, and as the two embraced their lips met

The next morning

"How was your dinner last night?" Tommy asked as the two met at the end of her driveway to walk to school.

"Well I witnessed a truly romantic gesture between Pierre and my mom, he had a whole dinner planned and before dinner started he proposed with both their parents and I got to see it happen." She happily replied

"OH! Wow! That's awesome Kim," Tommy said.

"That's not the best part, while they are in Paris he will be hosting an estate sale, they are hoping to complete everything before the games," Kimberly explained.

"The news just keeps getting better cause my parents are accompanying some of our friends and me so we can be there for you as well. I especially wanted to be there for you as my feelings for you are so strong I don't want to miss anything Kimberly I love you forever and always." Tommy said just before the rest of their friends met up with them at the picnic area.

"I love you forever and always Tommy," she said staring him in the eyes. The raw emotion flowed between them as they both shed a tear or two. Which in this case caused most of their friends to wipe their eyes as well.

"Good morning, how was everybody's night?" Rocky joked to try and bring Tommy and Kimberly out of the trance they seemed to be in.

"OH last night was amazing and I'm happy for my mom and Pierre, it was so beautiful he proposed at dinner. They also explained that they will be selling Peirre's estate and moving back around the time of the Olympic games." Kimberly explained answering Rocky's question.

"Yeah some of us will be attending with Tommy and his Parents," Jason said.

"We all wanted to come but duties prevent that," Adam said

"So we pulled together and came up with a plan and decided who should stay and who should go. After choosing diplomatically the five that will be joining are Trini, Myself, Billy, and Rocky, leaving the other six here to defend Earth." Aisha informed.

"I know you will do as you plan and bring home the gold," Jason said.

"Thank you, Jason," Kimberly said hugging her seragit big brother.

"Why don't we get going so we aren't late," Kathrine said smiling friendly in Kimberly's direction.

The group headed off in the direction of the school. Throughout the day Kimberly was greeted with "good luck" wishes and just as many "I Know you can do it", she was surprised when she walked into her last class of the day to find six roses (three white and three pink) with a note attached flipping it open she read "meet me at the spot I first kissed you, I have a surprise for you. I love you more beautiful." your handsome Tommy.

Aisha and Kathrine walked in and over to Kimberly.

"Are those from Tommy?" Kathrine said.

"Yeah," Kimberly said holding the note closer to her chest with a dreamy look on her face.

"Kimberly, they are beautiful, what did the note say?" Aisha asked

"He wants me to meet him at the lake," Kimberly said as she took her seat.

Rocky, Billy, and Adam walked in and straight to their seats. Rocky joined Aisha at her table while Billy joined Kathrine, Adam sat next to Kimberly. Justin walked in just before Mrs Kramer, quickly taking his seat and getting ready for class to start.

The day ended and the rangers agreed to meet up at the youth center after their after-school events. (Soccer practice, Karate class, etc.)

Kimberly wasted no time she rushed to the lake to meet her boyfriend. He had rushed there to set up what he planned indicated by his earlier note.

Tommy set up a picnic area when his mother pulled up dropping off the basket he packed the night before. taking the basket he was able to get everything set up just minutes before he noticed Kimberly approaching in the distance. Running back to the car he grabbed the bag in the back seat.

"Thank you mom, I'll see you at home," he said

"You're welcome kiddo, let me know how it goes and please be home in time for curfew, we have something we need to talk to you about, Love you bunches," Melissa said before she drove off.

Tommy walked over to the area placing the bag on the rock he practiced his kata. Kimberly was walking up as Tommy walked over to meet her at the edge of the rock area.

"You have more surprises hidden around here handsome?" Kimberly asked

"Well, I guess you'll just have to come over and see for yourself," Tommy said.

Grabbing his hand she was pulled into a kiss, then the two walked over and sat down. Tommy then started to pull everything out of the picnic basket. Once he had everything out he set up plates for both of them before he spoke.

"I wanted to put together something that would show you I was thinking about you and figured this may be the last chance I could set this up before you were busy packing for your training," Tommy said showing his emotions which were only when they were alone that he opened up this much.

"Everything looks wonderful," Kimberly said before they settled into eating the turkey bacon sandwiches and vegetables with chops and dessert. Once they finished eating they just enjoyed the quiet time between the two of them, Tommy couldn't help but stare down at the one person whom he felt was special and would do anything for. The two sat there for a while just holding each other when Tommy noticed the time, nudging Kim gently he moved to grab the bag he placed on the rock out of sight.

Reaching into the bag he pulled out the small velvet box and discreetly hid it in his pocket. Turning toward his girlfriend holding out the bag to her he said " I saw this and immediately thought of you."

Kimberly took the bag quickly looking inside she saw a stuffed bear with a note on its nose. Lifting the bear out she read the note " Hug me" Following the instructions she hugged it and then a recording of Tommy's Voice said "I Love you Kimberly, have a wonderful day at training." after listening to the message she hugged Tommy still holding the bear in her right hand. Pulling out of the hug she noticed a shine around the bear's neck, looking closer she noticed that there was a necklace resting on the bear's neck. Carefully removing it she examined it "Oh Tommy this is beautiful, can you put it on me please." Kimberly exclaimed then asked looking up and noticed he wasn't in her field of vision. Startled she looked around, but didn't see him then she looked down finding Tommy on bended knee. Her hand flew to cover her mouth in surprise.

"This isn't a wedding proposal but I feel it's just as special, I want to give this to you as a promise you can carry every day," he said.

Shocked speechless she watched the scene play out with Tommy on one knee with a ring in front of her. Once the emotions hit she processed everything. Finding her voice she said, "Oh Tommy I wasn't expecting all this."

"I want this to be a memorable occasion, I love you so much and I wanted you to have something to help you remember I'm still here, waiting to see your safe return after winning gold," Tommy said as he too had tears in his eyes.

"I love you Tommy you make me feel as if I'm the most loved girlfriend in the world," Kimberly said wrapping him in a hug so tight they ended up holding each other for a while. Tommy took a glance at his watch as he didn't want Kimberly to miss her tryout.

"Beautiful I love holding you but you have to get to the Youth Center to meet coach Schmit," he said

"Will you walk with me?" Kimberly asked looking up at her loving boyfriend.

"Of course, I will beautiful," Tommy said pecking a quick kiss on her lips.

The two walked to the youth center along the way they discussed how they could stay connected remembering they have their telepathic ability available because of the Ninjetti powers. They set up a schedule so they weren't interrupting school, practice, or fights with Rita and Zedd. Looking up they realized they had arrived at the youth center just as coach Schmit stepped out of his car accompanied by a short brown curly-haired female.

"Shawna it's so good to see you again," Kimberly said as the two hugged

"Yeah, are you here to try out as well?" Shawna asked

"Yeah, the coach said he wanted to see what I could do on the beam and floor," Kimberly explained.

"Good afternoon, if the two of you are ready we can go inside." Coach Schmit said as he approached the three.

They all nodded and followed him inside. After being welcomed by the owner they moved down to the mats where Shawna and Kimberly warmed up by stretching and handsprings.

Tommy politely showed Coach Schmit a closed table so they could sit while the girls performed their routines. They both performed exceptionally well causing both Tommy and Coach Schmit along with some other patrons to clap.

"Kimberly, Shawna would you both meet me at the airport this Friday to come train at my gym in Miami Florida the plane leaves at six I will have your tickets with me." Coach Schmit explained.

Receiving nods from both of them the coach bid his farewell leaving the group to celebrate. Moments later Shawna's mother showed up to pick her up.

Meanwhile up on the Moon

Zedd was looking at the Earth and noticed everything happening in Angel Grove.

"Ah, the pink ranger is leaving for a gymnastic training center," Zedd said

"That's only one there are still eleven more left to deal with," Rita replied.

"Yes but with her gone the white ranger will be distracted, and make mistakes in battle, especially if he thinks his precious pink princess is in danger," Zedd explained

"Then why don't we use some of the wedding presents my brother left for us," Rita suggested

"That's not a bad idea we could. Finster!" Zedd said then bellowed.

"Yes Lord Zedd," Finster said as he ran into the throne room.

"Fetch some of the wedding gifts," Zedd ordered.

"Right away sir," Finster said as he rushed out.

The two sat down and discussed what to do. Wanting to put together a vile attack. They first thought that Goldar and Rito could accompany some Tegus and the face stealer once the pink ranger departs for her training facility. Then they chose to send just Goldar and some Tengu warriors to soften up the Rangers.

Two Days Later

The school had passed by quickly with there being no attacks from Zedd and Rita the rangers had been on edge expecting anything at any time. The group was walking through the park when a group of Tengu and Goldar appeared

"You didn't think we gave up did you?" Goldar snarled.

"Spead out guys and remember they like to surround their target and separate us," Tommy said reminding the three new rangers of their tactics.

All of them moved like a well-oiled machine each taking their potions wisely not to have anyone out too far from assistance, especially the three new rangers. Tommy yelled attack in everybody's head. Rushing the birds they all hit their target with kicks and punches. The tegu braced themselves for the incoming attack. When they were able to push the Rangers back with one wing to the chest. While the rest of his team battled the tegu, Tommy sprinted towards Goldar leaping to perform a flying kick, just before he connected Goldar braced for impact and was able to bounce Tommy off of his armor.

They all soon realized they would have to regroup and try a different approach. Signalling their ninjetti morph they quickly became twelve multi-colored ninjas. Ready to go in for round two against the evildoers. As they got closer they shifted into teams of two to spread out the warriors Tommy and Kimberly took on Goldar, Jason and Kathrine approached a group of tengu warriors, and Billy, and Adam jumped into the middle of a group of the bird creatures. Trini and Tanya stayed close and allowed a group of Tegu warriors to approach them before they lashed out at them. Zack and Justin approached another group of Tengu warriors. Zack used Justin's shoulders to launch himself in a split kick toward two of the birds. Rocky and Aisha made quick work of their group of tengu by using their connection with the earth's elemental power by punching the earth causing it to shake.

Tommy&Kimberly

They rushed the gold monkey when they reached a good distance before Tommy said "Summon laser power." Kimberly soon followed with "Summon laser power. They both said "Combined laser power" They soon fired at Goldar knocking him to the ground.

Standing up Goldar growled before rushing the two forcing them to go on the defensive quickly. Unfortunately not quickly enough both the rangers were knocked down while Goldar towered over them. As he raised his sword high above his head about to swipe it down in Kimberly's direction Tommy looked up summoning the strength and power to call Saba mentally without talking at all. Acting fast he blocked Goldar's attack surprising the gold titan. Forcing him to stumble back while they flipped back to their feet.

Jason&Kathrine

They stood in the middle of their group of tengu warriors waiting for them to attack first as Jason was not going to start a fight with the creatures he had just started battling. As the birds lunged toward them they quickly ducked causing two of them to collide and fall to the ground. Looking at each other they giggled surprised that worked so well. Not wasting any time the other tengu attacked, as they were still crouched down. As the tengu rushed Jason and Kathrine used the ninja ability of shifting as the tengu leaped and landed on the ground.

Billy & Adam

When they entered the middle of their group of tengu they quickly decided to combine their attacks Billy slouched over as Adam rolled over his back before taking Billy's previous position, allowing the blue ninja to repeat his previous attack. The birds attempted to battle back just not with any luck once the combination of wolf and frog started it didn't stop until they were all knocked prone.

Trini & Tanya

They stood and waited for the tegu warriors to attack them, once they were under attack they used a defensive stance Trini hooked her left arm with Tanya's right keeping her close as a tengu warrior leaped forward in an attempt to catch the two ninjas off guard. Tanya grasped Trini's arm pulling her away from the attack. The two then kicked the bird that landed closest to them. They then turned to fight off the other bird creatures when it was an out attack from the tengu warriors. Letting go of each other they went on the attack separately but still close enough to help each other. Trini grabbed Tanya's hand and began to kick the birds as they got close Tanya soon followed suit with kicks of her own as they spun around.

Zack & Justin

The two of them flipped into their group of tengu warriors allowing the bird creatures to charge at them. Once they did Zack quickly rushed over toward Justin seeing this the bronze ranger turned in time for Zack to launch himself using Justin's shoulders allowing him to perform a split kick at two of the tengu warriors. They were quickly on the offensive taking down the birds left and right.

Rocky & Aisha

The two decided they would use their heads and used their elemental powers to cause an earthquake which forced the tengu warriors to fall. They then took advantage by rushing the fallen birds. Rocky used the branches of the nearest tree to immobilize their foes. "now why don't we go help Tommy and Kimberly." Aisha said.

Once the rangers rushed to join Tommy and Kimberly as they approached the duo they noticed Kimberly getting knocked away by Goldar he then rushed Tommy, and the quickness of the attack caused Tommy to be knocked prone and allowed Goldar to stand over Tommy as he was Kimberly earlier this time nobody was around to save him. When everything seemed as if all was about to be lost Tommy swollowed as he felt this was his final battle a set of silver feet connected to Goldars chest as Trini saved her leader and friend. The others landed kicks and punches at Goldar ending with Zack and Adam landing a team kick to Goldar's chest causing him to drop his sword.

"This isn't over rangers I'll be back," he said before teleporting away.

"Well, we didn't think the quiet spell would last," Trini said.

"Figures they would attack now the day I'm supposed to leave," Kimberly said

"Hey it's going to be fine we will figure it out there are more of us this time," Jason said.

"Jason's right this is something most of us have known since you were like seven years old," Zack said

"You are gonna do fantastic at the games," Kathrine said.

"We should get to your house and grab your stuff. It's four o'clock and we need to get you to the airport by five thirty." Tommy said trying to keep it together.

Later that afternoon at the airport

They met up with Coach Schmit and received Kimberly's ticket. The group then spent the next half hour saying goodbye. Kimberly approached Tommy already crying they embraced each other just as her flight was called, quickly they kissed and she waved a watery goodbye, before heading for the gate.
