She could feel someone was shaking her, trying to talk to her, but Luce heard none of it. All she could hear was the ringing of voices still in her ears. Tears streaming down her face as she laid there, shaking. It wasn't until Finnick had started to pick her up that she finally gave some type of response. Slowly she uncurled herself and looked up to see everyone staring at her and Katniss. Peeta had moved forward and was comforting Katniss, reassuring her about something, as he hugged her.

Finnick kept Luce securely in his arms and held her tightly to his chest, whispering comforting words himself, hoping it would be enough to calm her in any way.

"It's over Luce, shhh..Your safe now it's alright." He whispered to her, but Luce barely acknowledged his words. Johanna had come over and laid a gentle hand on her shoulder causing Luce to flinch. "Are you ok..?" She asked quietly, trying to offer her own comfort to the poor girl.

Finally looking up Luce could see how worried they all were for her and Katniss. But concluded that they shouldn't be wasting their time on them, that there were far more important things to do. Pulling herself together the best she could, she nodded, and tried her best to convey that she would be alright. Johanna nodded in return accepting her answer and then walked off to Peeta and Katniss to talk with them as well. She startled again when Johanna had suddenly started shouting up at the sky.

"Hey, how does that sound Snow? What if we set your backyard on fire? You know you can't put everybody in here!" Everyone stared at her as she spoke, then watched as she shrugged it off and walked off back towards the beach.

Finnick then carefully stood up, keeping Luce in his arms and followed Johanna back toward the beach. Katniss and Peeta following themselves at their own pace. Once they reached the sand Luce pulled herself out of his embrace and made her way to the water. She ignored him calling after her and continued into the water, only stumbling a few times, and didn't stop until the water reached just above her ankles. Sitting down she simply stared out at the water, needing a moment to herself.

Finnick watched her go with sad eyes before deciding to go and sit in the sand next to the others. Peeta had brought the girls some water before giving them some space and taking a seat nearby next to Beetee.

"I understand why they would use Prim's voice against me..But why would they use all those random ones on Luce?" Katniss asked softly, hesitation in her voice but wanting to know more. She turned to look at Finnick, knowing he had the answers since they were both from the same District. Johanna gave a soft and knowing look to Finnick, before excusing herself and taking off to join Luce in the water, offering her some silent company knowing that she didn't need to be part of that conversation. Fininck let her go, hoping she would have a better chance at getting Luce to feel better. He took a second to gather his thoughts before finally answering Katniss' question.

"I'm not sure if you ever watched previous Games or not, but Luce was the victor the year before you and Peeta." He started, pausing to see her watching him with interest. Even Peeta had turned in their direction so he could hear the story better. Katniss never liked to watch the Games in the years before her own reaping. But she did recall seeing Luce named as a victor.

"What happened to her in there is the reason she stopped talking." He paused again, "I guess it was just too much for her to handle at that young of an age." He glanced over in Luce's direction to see Johanna trying to talk to her. Katniss watched as well before turning back to him.

"She was the same age you were wasn't she?" Katniss asked.

Finnick only nodded as he dragged his finger around in the sand making random shapes. "Makes me wish there was someone to volunteer for her like you did for your sister. If it was possible I would have gone in her place without a second thought."

He lifted his head to look at her again. "We all know what it's like to kill someone in order to survive. Luce experienced all of that and more. I watched the screens as she snuck up on a kid who was just as scared as she was. Trying to survive and get back home to their family. I watched her as she grabbed them by the throat and slit it. Could see the small hint of satisfaction in her eyes before she had realized what she had even done. And when she came back home, processing all that had happened, it tore her apart. She stayed in her room for days, barely eating or sleeping. And then just as she starts to feel somewhat normal again, she's thrown right back in again with all of us."

There was a long and silent pause between them. No one sure of what to say exactly as they all knew that feeling one way or another. They understood the after effects of taking someone's life away just to maybe live another hour. Katniss easily thought back to her own nightmares. Killing Marvel after he killed Rue. Cato.

"I'm sorry." Katniss finally said.

Finnick only nodded and watched Luce sitting in the water. "I just hope that when this is all over, she can find some sort of happiness again."

"She will." Katniss said with determination, glancing around at everyone. "We all will.."
