Note: A small young Asamad and Ophelia oneshot I thought of after waking up this morning, taking place before they were married and only just dating of course.

Asamad Van Ghoul kept taking deep breaths as he laid down on his bed. For his lover, Ophelia Eve, kept making him laugh too hard throughout the night.

"Are you alright?" Ophelia asked him, also laughing a little.

"I am. You are just very much amusing," he responded as he finally caught his breath. He then smiled at her. "Do you feel yourself falling asleep soon, my love? It is very late."

She laid down next to him.

"I do not, not yet," she said.

"Are you certain? You would have fallen asleep by this time, would you have not?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I would have, yes. However, the wine is keeping me awake," she smiled.

He slightly chuckled.

"That wine was delightful," he commented.

"Yes, it was," she nodded.

They both went silent, staring at the ceiling for a moment, hearing the loud wind blowing from the open window.

"I spend time often learning about certain myths, mainly Greek myths," Asamad told her, breaking the silence.

"Which ones?" Ophelia asked.

"You know the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, is that right?"

"I do. I was taught about it when I was only a child," she said. "Orpheus was excellent with music. Eurydice was a beautiful oak nymph. They were lovers, and after they married, Eurydice was killed by a snakebite, and so Orpheus made his way to the underworld to bring her back. Orpheus impressed Hades and Persephone with his music so much that Hades agreed to let him return Eurydice to Earth, however, he told him not to look back until they both were out of the underworld. Though, Orpheus did look back at her before they both left, and she was gone forever."

He looked over at her.

"That is the one, yes. I spent a lot of time learning about it due to the fact that it makes me think of you," he smiled.

She turned over to face him, raising an eyebrow in slight confusion.

"Me? For why?"

"I would go to the underworld to bring you back to life," he confessed. "I would convince Hades himself to let me bring you back, and I would look back at you even if I was told not to by Hades. Orpheus looked back because he loved Eurydice, even if that love didn't save her and she was gone forever. I would look back at you because I do not love anyone more than you. I would catch a glimpse of your face at any point, even if it meant that would be the last time I would ever get to see you."

Ophelia could not help but smile. She laid her hand on Asamad's chest.

"I would find another way to bring you back, even if I did fail the first time," he continued. "Hades could not stop me."

"So, you would be Orpheus and I would be Eurydice?"

"That is how I imagine it," he nodded.

She then caressed his face.

"I think Eurydice would have looked back at Orpheus too. I know I would have looked back at you," Ophelia told him.
