Author's Notes: Jin Nakamura (the guy I play) was made before having watched a single episode of My Hero Academia. Why did I join a MHA dnd game without having watched the show? good question. Anyways my frame of reference was one punch man until the end of seasons 1's events so my dude does stuff that theoretically don't make sense in the MHA world but the DM just paints over it for me. Back on track, this may sound stupid but Nakamura's voice is meant to be a mix of Uncle Iroh from ATLA and Goro Takemura from cyberpunk so keep that in mind when you read his dialogue.

An air hung about the cramped living room with a certain crushing weight and stillness. It was in government-provided housing on a military base in Northern Hokkaido, but that's not what mattered. The TV news reporter's words about the typhoon coming from the TV turned to scratching in the background as the man in parade dress stood before the boy. His mother sat on the couch holding her hands whilst he stared back at the man with a sense of innocence lingering in his eyes. The man in parade dress tried to hold back his tears as he held a parcel under his right arm. He took a deep breath in through his square jaw before he finally spoke as the pittering and pattering of rain pounded the roof.

"Your father Zhao, he…" The man said to the boy, with a slow deliberate tone, continuing with "He was a good man. The best kind of man to be a soldier. His quirk allowed him to react, to anything. But sometimes… it's too late… and… there's nothing we can do,". The man swallowed the lump in his throat and resisted the urge to cry for a moment, grimacing in grief. He continued once more "He kept returning into the storm to get more people out, but sometimes our machinery fails, even the best pilots can't fix it. I know how close you two were so this is hard to say Jin,". The man went down to one knee and looked Jin in the eyes "He's… Gone," as a teardrop flowed down his cheek and he closed his eyes. Suddenly, he grabbed the boy, held him, and spoke softly "I'm so sorry," before he began to cry. The boy hugged him back slowly and softly, as his mother let out whaling cries into her trembling hands. Eventually, the man was able to pull away and he grabbed the parcel from under his arm. "It's for you, from your father," The man spoke as he rose.

The boy took the package, slowly unwrapped the thick-wrapped parchment, and stared inside. It was his father's bomber jacket, on the back, a Tanegashima and Odachi crossed, the insignia of the 55th Japanese Defense Force Air Wing, and a watch cracked in multiple places. He stared into the watch, a last vestige of his father's fight. His eyes entranced as the boy clicked slowly towards 6 o'clock.

The clock struck 6 on the snappily cold February morning on Jin's cracked watch. He stared at the underside of his right arm into the watch face and looked up with a face of resolve to the school gate for UA High School. He stepped forward with a saying his father told him on his mind "Our hands are all dirty, how they become dirty is important".

As he passed the threshold into UA he placed his hands into the pockets of his father's bomber jacket in place of the traditional gakuran jacket, and under his left arm was a large, long, black bag that clicked with every step. His face was a bit long, slim, and sickly by now with brown eyes, a larger-than-average nose, and swept-back black hair. He seemed to have a permanent scowl sitting on his face. As he approached the steps to UA he heard someone calling to him from behind.

"Nakamura, is that you?" A voice with decent energy and a thick accent asked with a great deal of surprise. She walked up with great enthusiasm as Jin turned around to face the purple-eyed girl.

"Hinoda-san? I thought you'd be returning to France after this year," Jin said in his signature stiff, formal, almost wise tone. Hinoda was of average height and build for her age with shoulder-length black hair with a pair of tied-up bulbs of hair on either side of her head and pale skin.

"No, I decided to try and get into UA first," Hinoda said casually as she came to his side and they walked into the school proper together. "I thought you wanted to join the army, why would you go to a hero school?" Hinoda asked in her casual accented voice as they wandered to the Auditorium.

"I need to become stronger at using my quirk, and it'll give me better combat experience. If I want to help the most people I can, I need to be the strongest," Jin said, shifting his bag to the other arm.

"Makes sense. I was so nervous this morning I forgot to eat breakfast, you don't happen to have any of Ms. Nakamura's Special Gyudon, would you?" Hinoda said switching to a more facetious and joking tone and lightening the mood.

"You know I will eat all that is made" Jin replied in a humorously harsh tone whilst staring straight forward.

"Aw dang it," Hinoda replied, her face drooping for a moment as she opened the door to exam orientation.
