As everyone splitted up into their groups, Reika was setting up the room for a 360 view for Tokoyami's team. "Oh I forgot to mention! There are four buttons on each of our communicators. Green, yellow, red, and blue. We're using the green button to communicate to everyone that has a communicator. The yellow button is for communicating to only the members in your team plus Reika. The red button is to have a private conversation with one or two other members of your team, all you have to do is press the red button and say the other team member's last name. There are only a select few that can say the other team member's first names. Last is the blue button. That one should be self explanatory." Hawks explained.
"How come I don't have a blue or a red button?" Mineta asked.
"Because a certain someone who made these didn't want the girls to be uncomfortable." Hawks said.
"That and both our Big brothers didn't want you talking to big sis by yourself." Rhyan said.
"Mess with our big brother Tokoyami's wife and you're gonna get beat." Rhyley said.
"Hey now Ley, I haven't given her to him. He still has to prove himself worthy." Hawks teased. Everyone laughed.
"Damn dude, since when did you and Takami tie the knot?" Kirishima jokes.
"Yeah, didn't the two of you just start dating?" Kaminari jokes.
"Sh-Shut up guys!" Tokoyami said as he blushed.
"That's enough, you two. Leave them alone." Jiro said.
"We have more important matters at hand." Iida said.
"Hey Nerds! I see the ugly Nomu! Bird Boy's getting tailed by it, but my team isn't far behind it. We'll help out once we clear out the people here." Bakugo said.
"I see it! It's following you Fumi, just as Bakugo said." Reika said. The Nomu reached up to grab Tokoyami but he dodged just in time.
Bakugo laughed. "It thinks Bird boy is a giant bug!" As Bakugo got close, the Nomu tried to grab him as well. "Hey, watch it ya damn extra!"
"Isn't karma a bitch, Bakugo?" Reika asked in a teasing tone and the twins laughed.
"Come out and say that to my face, nerd!" He called out as Reika giggled.
As they were getting away from the Nomu and leading people to safe places outside the city, Midoriya and Tokoyami's teams worked together to fight it off. Tokoyami listens to Bakugo teasing Reika about her being like a little blue bird on their shoulders. The Twins laughed at how embarrassed Reika looked to them. "From our perspective, we are like little blue birds on your shoulders!" Rhyley said as she giggled.
"More like a little blue bird and a pair of baby foxes." He said as He smiled.
"A baby bluebird." Dark Shadow said as he laughed.
"Not you guys two!" Reika said in complete embarrassment.
"Alright everyone, It's time to head back to UA. We've done all we can for now. The heroes will handle the Nomu from here." They hear Iida say in their communicators. As they were heading back to UA, Reika scans the area around them from the five cameras. As the sun was setting she looked over towards the river on Tokoyami's camera and saw a black wolf with green eyes staring at them. Next to the black wolf sat a white wolf pup with red eyes wagging its tail happily before they both stood and turned towards the forest of UA.
"What are they doing here?" She asks herself.
"Did you say something, Dove?" Tokoyami asked.
"I-It's nothing Fumi." She lied.
Dark shadow raised an eyebrow. 'Did she just lie to Fumikage?' He thought.
"We'll have to go see them tonight, after everyone is asleep." Rhyan said in a low tone.
"You two aren't going anywhere but to bed." She said as she glared at them.
"What are you nerds talking about?!" Bakugo asked in an angered tone.
"None of your business Boom Boom Butt!" Rhyley said. Everyone laughed at Bakugo's nickname.
Once when everyone was back at UA and getting ready for bed, Tokoyami had a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach, like something was wrong but he shrugs it off. A couple hours later only Tokoyami and Dark Shadow were wide awake, still with that sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. He decides to take a walk outside the UA dorms. Dark Shadow keeps a lookout until he sees Reika sneaking around in the forest. "What's she doing here?" He asks himself.
He secretly follows her into the forest where he sees her meet up with a white wolf pup with red eyes. The pup wags its tail happily and leads her deeper into the forest. "Calm down Yukihime, I'm happy to see you too, but you need to be quiet. I don't want anyone to know I'm here. Let's go find your father." Reika said.
"What is she up to?" He asked himself. He followed them out of the forest and into the school. "Why the school?"
"Come on Rei Rei. Daddy's waiting." The pup said quietly but in a happy tone. Reika tried to calm the pup down but to no avail. They hear a low growl which immediately shuts the pup up. "Sorry daddy." She whined. They walked into Aizawa's classroom and she sat in her seat while the pup sat on Tokoyami's desk. Dark Shadow looked over and saw a Black wolf with green eyes sitting in front of Aizawa's desk.
'A Black Wolf?' He thought.
"There is much we must discuss, Takami." The black wolf said as his body started to glow. The paws turned to hands and feet and his fur turned into long black hair. The wolf turned into a tall man around Hawk's age. "As you know from fighting them for yourself, the HPSC now has mechs. As to how they got mechs, not even us of the animal kingdom knows. We were hoping you might know something about it."
"I overheard Mera talking to some of her underlings that someone they had recently captured had a quirk that allowed them to use their mind to create robots. I never met them when I was there, but I have a sinking suspicion that it might be an animal with a quirk." She explained.
'Animals with quirks? Just like Principal Nezu.' Dark Shadow thought. He feels a pair of tiny paws pounce on him.
"DADDY! I found a stalker!" The white wolf pup said.
The man turned back into a wolf and growled at him. "You! You're that bird man's quirk! What are you doing here!" He looks at Reika. "You were followed! You said you would keep the animal kingdom of quirks a secret!"
"I didn't know Shadow would follow me, I didn't even know he or Fumi were even awake! No one but Nezu knows about the animal kingdom of quirks I promise you." Reika said.
"Calm down Lionzo, I assure you that no one but Miss Takami and I know about our kingdom. And I'm sure that both Dark Shadow and Tokoyami will keep the kingdom a secret as well, won't you, Dark Shadow?" He hears Nezu's voice from behind him before feeling a cold death stare, sending chills down his spineless back.
"Y-yes Principal Nezu. I promise I will keep this a secret." He said fearfully.
"Such a good quirk you are. Now, would you mind telling us why you followed Miss Takami here?" He asked.
He looks towards Reika. "She's normally bad at lying to begin with, but she's never lied to Fumikage before, so when I heard her lie to him earlier today got me curious. He never realized that she lied to him. Fumikage and I were the only ones that couldn't sleep due to a weird feeling he had in the pit of his stomach. He decided to take a walk to get some fresh air, so naturally I came out to watch his back just in case we had another attack. So when I saw her sneaking around the forest I knew she was up to something, so I had to follow her." He explained.
"Shadow, you know I never want to lie to Fumi. But there are things around me that are better left to be kept secret." She said.
"Like what, Are you engaged to that wolf man?" He teased but sounded angry and almost jealous. The wolf pup giggled as she walked on him.
"No you silly shadow quirk. When a wolf mates, they mate for life. And Rei Rei is already your master's mate, so you don't need to worry about daddy mating with Rei Rei. She's much too young for him anyway." She said.
"Yukihime, please don't say that word anymore, you're far too young to even know what that word truly means." Reika said as she hid her apparent blush.
"I mean Fumikage does want to marry her someday so we may as well call her his mate." Dark Shadow said as he chuckled.
"Shut up Dark Shadow, please go back to Fumi and don't tell him ANYTHING about what you've seen and heard here tonight." She said.
"It's a little too late for that Miss Takami." Nezu said. Standing beside him was Tokoyami. He looked at her in confusion. Yukihime hopped off of Dark Shadow and ran towards Tokoyami, wagging her tail, sniffing around him. Tokoyami looked down at her, trying his best to stay still. The black wolf growled at him.
"It's alright, he won't hurt her. I can guarantee that much." Reika said. She looks towards Tokoyami in a calming way, signaling him to stay calm. He nods his head.
The white pup looks at her father. "Both he and his quirk smell human but he has a bird's head." She said as she looked at Reika in confusion.
"He is human, Yukihime. He just has a deformity much like Takami and their friend that can communicate to us, Koda. A birth defect as humans call it." Lionzo said. He glares at Reika. "The question is if we can trust him and his quirk."
"I trust this man and his quirk with my entire life as well as the lives of the twins I raise. He has kept all my own secrets well hidden from the world since the day I met him. He was the one that led the rescue mission to save me from the HPSC, along with my elder brother and a few of our close classmates and friends, therefore I am certain that he will keep the secret of the animal kingdom well hidden as well." She explained.
Yukihime wags her tail happily and starts running around Tokoyami's feet. "YAY! NEW PLAYMATES!" She cheered. He chuckled at how much energy the little white fluff ball had.
"You have nothing to worry about Lionzo, our secret is safe with Tokoyami and Dark Shadow." Nezu said.
He growled at Tokoyami before signaling him and Nezu to come into the classroom. "Take your seat human. Your mate will have to catch you up on the situation at a later time." Lionzo said as he glared at him. Both Tokoyami and Reika blushed at the comment. Dark Shadow chuckled at their reaction. When he sat down in his seat, Lionzo continued. "If Takami's suspicion is correct, then we must find a way to rescue that animal before the HPSC is able to use those robots against the heroes. On our end, we will enlist the help of Links with her quirk of future sight. She will be able to tell us what kind of animal the HPSC are keeping hostage to make these mechs." He explained. Tokoyami was about to stand and say something to protest but Reika interrupted him.
"Unfortunately I will be staying out of the mission, but we have a way to where I will still be able to help even from the sidelines. During the Nomu attack today, my classmates were able to split up into teams to escort the civilians out of danger. Though I was not with them physically, I was able to communicate with them, and for a few of them, like Fumi here, I was able to see the environment around them. That is how I was able to notice you and Yukihime by the river. With the help of the technology used for that mission, I will be able to help Fumi from the sidelines. Whatever he sees and hears. I will see and hear the same things as him." Reika explained.
"That could come in handy between the two of you and us. Alright then, next is to try and enlist the help of the human Koda. He is the only other human we trust with our secret. With his quirk he will be able to relay messages between us and Takami's mate. Yukihime will stay with Takami and her fox twins for safety until this mission is over." Lionzo explained. He looks towards Nezu. "Will that be alright with you, Lord Nezu?"
"Of course." He said.
"W-wait. Lord Nezu?" Tokoyami asked as he looked at Nezu.
"Yes. Since I am an animal with a quirk, who is also a pro hero living peacefully among humans, I am known to the Animal kingdom as a Lord. The first among our kind." He explained.
Dark Shadow chuckles. "Lord Nezu. That makes you sound like you're royalty." He said, continuing to chuckle.
Reika whacked him in the back of the head. "Enough, Dark Shadow. Never mock the cultures of others." She said sternly.
He whined as he hid behind Tokoyami. "Y-yes ma'am." He said.
Yukihime giggled at him. "Not so tough now are you, Shadowman." She said.
"Yukihime, that goes for you as well. Never judge a book by its cover, meaning, never underestimate your opponent's strength." She said as she looked down at the wolf pup who was sitting at her desk.
Tokoyami stares at Reika, admiring how she interacts with the young pup. 'Just when I thought I had you all figured out, you still manage to surprise me, somehow. That's one of the many things I love about you.' He thought.
"Okay Rei Rei. I'll keep that in mind." She said tiredly. He sees the pup yawn and curl up onto her desk. As she starts to fall asleep her body starts to glow. Reika covers her human body with her wings until Lionzo comes up to her, carrying an oversized hoodie in his mouth. She gently takes the hooding and slips it onto a now sleeping child with white hair.
She moves her wings to reveal a human child no older than two years old with white hair, ears, and tail, sleeping peacefully in her arms. "When Yukihime falls asleep she turns into a half human. She hasn't quite mastered her full transformations yet." She explained.
"This is her bed time, we must get her back to the den before her brothers wake up and notice that we are gone. I will return another day with more information." Lionzo said.
"You can leave the enlistment of Koda to Tokoyami and I." Nezu said as he smiled. Lionzo bows to them before turning to leave.
"I'll explain what's going on when I come back." Reika said as she smiled at Tokoyami then followed the black wolf. He gently grabbed her shoulder, pulled her to him and whispered in her ear, then let her go. "I promise, Fumi. You don't need to worry about me."
"I sensed much anger and jealousy from your mate's quirk earlier. When he asked if the two of us were…engaged as he put it. Does the quirk reflect its host's true emotions?" Lionzo asked as they walked towards a familiar cave.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I'm talking about the cave that Tokoyami was in during the UA entrance exams from the Manga.
"That's what I've always thought since I was a child. Shadow is an entity of darkness with a mind and a range of emotions of his own. I don't consider him as Fumi's quirk at all actually, but rather Fumi's little brother. And please don't call him my mate, it's embarrassing. Honestly, I don't know what we are now. Last I checked he's my best friend in the whole world. But ever since he and our friends rescued me from Mera, he's been acting strange and a lot more protective of me than normal." She explained.
"Strange? How so?" He asked. She explained to him all the events from being rescued up till now. "To my knowledge, that just sounds like being an overprotective mate or a significant other as some of you humans would put it. Nothing strange about that." He explains.
"A significant other?" she asked as she tilted her head in confusion.
"Your boyfriend, or in his case, you his girlfriend." He said simply.
A bright red blush appears on her whole face, making her look as red as an apple. "M-Me?! H-his girlfriend?!" She stuttered. He chuckles.
"I take it you don't have much experience in this particular department." He said.
"More like none at all." She said as she sighed.
"I noticed that he whispered something into your ear. What exactly did he tell you?" He asked.
"He just told me to come back safely and to meet him by the school gate when I come back. I know I have a lot to explain to him and I was going to explain everything to him tomorrow after school." She said.
"He just wants to make sure you're safe." He said.
"He's been overprotective of me since I was rescued. My own brother isn't as protective as he is." She said.
"I understand that being overprotective can be a bit much, but it just goes to show how much he loves you. Being protective is probably just one of the ways he shows his love for you." He explained.
"I don't know about that I mean, I know he loves me as he would a little sister, but I don't know about as a g-girlfriend." She said as she smiled sadly at Yukihime.
"Well then answer me this, Takami. Has he ever kissed you before?" He asked as he turned into his human form and stood in front of her.
She blushed again, looking around shyly and nodded her head yes. "O-on my hand." She said shyly.
He sighs then walks behind a tree. "Alright then, let me be more specific. Has he ever kissed you on your mouth?" He asked.
She blushed even more as she looked down in thought. "Y-Yeah, I think so." she stuttered.
He comes out from behind the tree wearing a pair of black jeans. "You think so. Do you not remember whether or not he kissed your lips?" He asked as he crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow.
"H-he did but it was too dark to see that night. H-he was preening my wings while we were talking to my brother. He also K-kissed the back of my neck." She said as she closed her eyes tightly.
"I also heard from Lord Nezu a while back that he and one of his classmates were working on a song for you. Did he play it for you?" He asked.
"Umm…I overheard him play it once. I-It was very pretty. A-And just before the mission with the Nomu today, he gave me this choker." She said as she touched the choker around her neck.
He sighs again. "Takami, those are all signs that he's very much in love with you. I should know because that's exactly how I feel towards my mate. Your collar has the words 'His light' and it has a heart with the infinity sign. This is a clear sign that you are his mate and no one else's." He explained as pointed to her choker, then gently took Yukihime from her. "That is why his quirk was angered and jealous when he joked about you being my mate earlier. You have spoken to us about him many times when you were younger. It was plainly obvious that you were falling for him without knowing it. I could tell that even if you haven't seen or spoken to him face to face for a long time, I knew that you trusted him with your very soul."
She smiled and nodded her head yes. "I trust him with my very life and the lives of the twins. I know that without a doubt he would never harm children, no matter what. No hero would ever harm an innocent child, human or otherwise." She explained. She looks down in sadness. "Sure she would be harsh to them, but even Aunt Frankie would never harm them, no matter how much she hates children."
"Still, your biological brother may accept him as your mate, but as your adopted brother that helped raise you. He still has to prove himself that he is worthy of my little sister." He said as he smiled at her.
"Tell that to Fumi, the first month I was getting to know our classmates, he was protective of me from the smallest of us all, Mineta." She said.
"The grape headed one, right? The perverted one. I'm glad he protected you from him. I wouldn't have accepted him to be your mate. Not in a million years. While the bird man is definitely a much better option for you and Yukihime seems to be fond of him, I still need to see his strength. Don't wanna hand you off to a human that won't treat you like a queen." He said. She looked at him in annoyance.
"You know damn well that I ain't no queen and I don't need to be treated like one either. I can take care of myself and you know it first hand." She said in a serious tone.
"I know I know. I mean I was the one that trained you to use your quirk." He said as he smirked.
"I've been telling everyone that my quirk is similar to Keigo's, but they'll be disappointed that these wings of mine are nothing like his." She said as she looked at her wings in sadness.
"You should go back to your mate, he's waiting for you after all." He said before heading into the cave.
"Yeah, knowing him, he'll start to worry if I'm not back like I told him I would. I'll come visit again tomorrow with Rhyan and Rhyley. Night Lionzo." She said as she smiled then turned and left back to UA.
When she came close to the gate of UA, she saw Tokoyami leaning against the wall while Dark Shadow was looking everywhere with a worried expression. She sighed and smiled. Once Dark Shadow saw her, his face lit up, flying towards her. "REI REI! YOU'RE BACK!" He said as he flew into her arms, hugging her tightly.
"Yeah. Just like I said I would. You didn't need to worry about me." She said.
"You were alone with that wolf man doing who knows what with him so how can we NOT worry?!" Dark Shadow said.
"Lionzo and I were just talking, there's nothing between us. I assure you." She said.
Tokoyami opens his eyes and pushes himself off of the wall. He gently takes her hand and starts to walk her away from the school. "So you say but you have a lot of explaining to do. For starters, how do you know those wolves? Why didn't you tell us sooner that the mechs the HPSC uses were made by someone or something that has a quirk to make them that the HPSC captured?" Dark Shadow asked as he let go of her and returned to Tokoyami's shoulder.
