Chapter 2: Come Home
He was tall and built like a house; dressed in blue and white with eyes that were hidden by a harvester hat and sparked with electricity. They stared at him, and he stared back…
"Dude do that again…" Tiberius and Savannah turned their heads and stared at Dante who was mesmerized but had a trail of blood coming from his nose.
Their hero chuckled slightly but shook his head, "That won't be necessary I've done my good deed for the day."
Slowly the children got back on their feet and cautiously approached the man in blue and white. "I'm Dante…" The boy stated immediately catching his sister off guard.
"Dante seriously?" He shot a look at her. "What?"
Savannah face palmed, "He's a stranger and you just told him your…"
"Stop being a dish rag Savannah; the guy saved us, didn't he?" Tiberius spat and looked at the strong man before him.
"We haven't even thanked you yet…" He was cut off with a stern wave, however. "Thanks, is not necessary I witnessed young mortals in need, and I lent a hand. Nothing more."
"What's your name?"
"Where are you from?"
"I like your hat!"
"Are you a billion years old?"
"Dante!" Savannah shut her eyes in annoyance. "I highly doubt he wants to answer all your questions…"
To their surprise however the stranger spoke up, "I am Raiden, protector of Earth realm and god of Thunder. I am descended from the heavens, and I am a millennium; wise beyond measure."
At this point the boy is jumping with joy and excitement and Tiberius and Savannah don't know whether to believe this "Raiden" or pinch themselves.
"So you're a god… Why did you save us?" Tiberius asked the thunder god curiously but is cut off by sirens wailing in the distance.
"We should leave before the situation becomes more serious." Raiden looked out in the direction the sirens were coming from before being pulled by a small hand in direction of the apartment that Tiberius and his mother lived.
"Come on you can come with us!" Dante looked up at Raiden with joy unlike what the thunder god had ever witnessed from a young mortal.
He couldn't believe this was happening to him, Raiden god of thunder being pulled by a child not wearing a shirt and seemed more interested in him than his followers.
Raiden sighed but decided not to reject the boy's invitation and allowed himself to be pulled along.
Tiberius helped Savannah up the apartment steps and unlocked the door to his home before looking back at Dante and Raiden walking up the steps… Or mostly Raiden being dragged along.
As soon as they got inside Tiberius dropped Savannah on the sofa and threw her an iced vegetable pack for her ankle. He tended to his own wounds in the meantime and took off his shirt to bandage his shoulder. Dante was running around with a cotton ball stuck in his nose and showing Raiden a show where there was a purple dog that feared everything and lived in the middle of nowhere.
"This dog is hallucinating…" Raiden spoke quietly to himself. Meanwhile Savannah knocked out on the sofa and Tiberius was ordering a pizza for them to eat dinner.
"Hey Mr. Raiden, what do you want on your pizza?" Tiberius looked over at him and noticed how dumbstruck he seemed.
"Um nothing for me…thank you." Raiden continued watching television with Dante until he heard a jingle of keys at the front door. He frowned and got up from his seat to protect the young ones from harm. He was prepared for anything.
Almost anything…
Instead of a foam mouthed carnivorous abomination coming through the door it was a woman. A small and wavering woman dressed in blacks and blues. Her tied up hair a mess and her expression thin with exhaustion and frustration. Her purse barely hanging over her shoulder and her shoes looked uncomfortable to say the least.
"Hey mom!" Tiberius came from the kitchen hurriedly and took his mother's bag quickly before leading her over to the dumb struck protector.
"You're never going to believe this… There was this nasty demon thing chasing us and we thought we were going to die but then lightning hit it and… It was so cool, but it smelled so nasty cuz' it was burnt and shit… and yeah this is Raiden god of thunder."
Tiberius' mother blinked several times and then rubbed her temples slowly. "Please Tiberius…tell me you're joking, and this guy is just doing some cosplay?"
The young man sighed knowing the truth was far-fetched. "No ma believe me … He's the real deal…"
The woman looked up at the so called "thunder god" but soon realized that he was no ordinary mortal. She felt herself blush just looking at him but contained herself and considered the fact that she was exhausted.
Not wanting to be rude she introduced herself, "Hello Lord Raiden, thank you for saving my son…"
Their hands met briefly, and she once again felt her temperature go up.
"I'm Rashid."
