Noah was sitting outside of the apartment complex in a lawn chair, with a sketchbook opened to an empty page on a table nearby. Ella was nearby, giggling as she conversed with the local birds, but she was otherwise inaudible. The bookworm took a piece of gum out of his pocket, unwrapped it, put the snack in his mouth, and threw the wrapper somewhere, uncaring of where it went. It bonked the princess in the back of the head, causing her to adopt a look of confusion as it landed on the floor.
"Oh. what is this little thing?" Ella exclaimed as she grabbed the discarded wrapper. "Now who would toss you away?" She looked around, saw Noah chewing gum, and daintily skipped over to him. "Noah, you dropped something!"
"Yes." The know-it-all simply stated.
"Well, don't you want it back?" The singer offered him the paper.
"Why? It's just a piece of garbage. Keep it if you want; I don't care."
"W-well, okay, but I find it to be much more than garbage! Endless possibilities to create stories! A wide variety of alternatives for fun! A-"
"-piece of trash." The bookworm cut in. "Who could have that much fun with a piece of paper anyways?" He then immediately started doodling something in his sketchbook.
"Well, I, ah, see you're busy now, so I'll talk to you later! Thank you for the paper!"
"Whatever." Noah dismissed, not even looking as Ella skipped off again, this time to her part of the apartment.
Some laughter and joy was heard from her area, so the camera panned inside of it. The songbird had the paper stuffed into her skirt. "A new toy to put a smile on my face, here with my friend Mittens to watch it take place!" Back to her normal voice, she asked her pet a question. "Guess what I am now, kitty!"
"Meow?" The kitty questioned from nearby as he watched his owner's antics.
His owner giggled. "Why, yes, I am a girl with a piece of paper sticking out of her skirt, but I'm also…" She stuck her head out through the window and put her arm out like a superhero that was about to take flight. "SuperPrincess! Royally saving the day!" Some accompanying wind conveniently blew as she did so.
"More like Super Sing-a-ling." Noah quipped from his lawn chair.
"Oh or how about?" She curled the paper, and fit it behind her bow. "A cave woman!"
Mittens just meowed. "Well, no, Mittens. I'm not going to do that up here with the window open." She giggled as Noah raised a brow. The cat continued his protests. "Well, perhaps I'm no cave-girl then. Instead, I'm skydiving! Hang on, kitty!"
Mittens jumped onto Ella's shoulder and dug his claws into the princess's blouse as she jumped out the window, using the paper to slow her descent. Somehow, it ended up working and not harming her, but it wasn't because of the paper. Instead, it was because of some birds. As they put her and the feline down, Mittens tried to swipe at one, but it quickly flew off.
"And we've landed just in time for us to wave the white flag and declare peace!" Ella waved the paper back and forth in the air.
"Now for some impressions!" She declared. "I'm a mother applying a bandage to her kid!" She knelt down and put the paper on Mittens like a band-aid. It quickly fell off, but she caught it. She then covered one of her eyes with the paper. "Arr, I'm a pirate! I'm gonna take your b- um, treasure!"
The songbird hid her other eye with the treasure. "Just kidding! I'm a regular girl with an eyepatch! Arr, I'm, ah, not a pirate! I'm not gonna take your treasure!"
"How about an immature 21-year-old playing with a piece of paper?" Noah grumbled.
"Look, kitty! Origami!" Ella folded the paper into a bird shape, which Mittens tried to pounce on. She giggled at this. "It's not real, silly!"
"And a snowflake! Well, one of them! They're all one of a kind!" She folded the paper into a snowflake. She folded them into one final shape and ran over to the know-it-all.
"Noah, look! I made these little us-es holding hands!" She said as she showed off her paper figures, quite accurately resembling the two's silhouettes.
"Impressive for anyone lower than the 3rd grade."
"Oh… Well, how about I play fetch then? Mittens!" The princess crumpled the wrapper into a ball and threw it, but the wind blew it back into Noah's face. "Oh, goodness! Sorry, Noah!" She knelt down and grabbed the paper once more. She then skipped off again.
"The way she plays with that paper almost makes it seem like fun." Noah commented, only half as sarcastic as usual. After a pause, he realized what he just mentioned. "Oh, great. Now she's making me delusional." He looked up and saw Ella looking at the paper like it was a pirate's treasure map. "Looking at pieces of dead trees for fun. How entertaining."
He went inside to distract himself with a magazine. "Ah, yes, the history of… something. Much more entertaining." Even the viewers did not know what the brochure was about, as Noah's thumb covered the subject matter. He tossed it aside. "I'll just paint something, I guess. Something to fill the time with… great, other paper." He shook his head, but still went to his easel and painted a fruit bowl, but he heard Ella laughing outside still. He accidentally painted himself with the thing that was driving him insane as a mustache. Frustrated, he tore the canvas off of the easel and tossed it into the nearest garbage can.
"Hey, Ella, top this." He sarcastically challenged, holding a ventriloquist dummy. "What doesn't have enough character and relies on humor?"
"I dunno, but have you looked in the mirror lately?" The puppet questioned.
"Great, even I hate me." Noah deadpanned.
"Oh, don't say that about yourself, Noah! Here's another joke on a sillier topic!" The princess folded the paper in half like it was about to talk. "Have you heard any lately, Mr. Paper?"
"What happened to the paper that got blown in some indoor wind?" She asked, talking in a lower voice to speak as the wrapper.
"Hmm… I'm not sure! What?"
"He said 'I'm a fan of this!'"
Ella and a random group of people laughed at the joke. Annoyed, the bookworm left.
Later that day, Noah came out again. "Hey, I know you like music, and that can't play anything, can it?"
"Well, not by itself, but I could make it do that!" Ella beamed proudly. She began to play the first few notes of Mary Had a Little Lamb, before Noah cut her off. "Just give me the paper back!"
"Hmm? But I thought you didn't- what?"
"I never said I didn't want it."
"W-well, yes, you did, but if you wanted it back, you could have just told me! I hadn't meant to frustrate you. Here you go!" Ella handed the paper to the bookworm.
Noah's face merely fell as he realized how easy this was. The princess skipped off happily, going to play with other things and scooping up Mittens on her way back inside.
The know-it-all looked at the paper, realized he had no clue what to do with it, and tossed it away once more.
A/N: Would Noah do this? No, probably not, but the whole plot was that it was something Squiddy wouldn't do, so… I didn't really have a choice. The other writer and I really tried to get something else to work, and I hate having to take the easy way out, but oh well. The ending also seems a bit more Noah-like, and I hope it doesn't come off as rushed. This episode should have been much easier. I hope it was enjoyable like always.
