Chapter 31: Jay vs Sting and Rouge
"Insanity! Jay Heartfilia has just declared a one on two battle against his former guild! We could be witnessing history" shouted the announcer while the crowd watched on baited breath to see how the match would unfold. Already the match had proven to be the most entertaining one yet of the grand magic games and it wasn't over yet.
"Sabertooth or not, I'm still the battle king and I'm going to prove it" stated Jay with a determined smile, his body thumbing with the excitement of battle.
"What is that idiot doing?! I let him join the guild and this is the thanks I get" shouted Markov in an angry tone since Jay had taken Natsu out of the fight.
"I'm sure Jay has a plan, master" responded Mira in her signature sweet tone.
"Damn I'm liking Jay more and more" stated Gray in an amused tone, finding it funny what Jay did to Natsu.
"For Jay's sake I hope he knows what's he's doing. If he messes up after pulling that sort of stunt I will make sure he sees the error of his ways" responded Erza in a serious tone.
"You really think you can take us on alone? That's a big mistake Jay" stated Sting, insulted that he was being underestimated.
"I don't think I can take you on, I know I can" responded Jay with a confidant smile, enjoying how angry he was making Sting and Rouge.
"To prove it, I want to play a little game with the two of you in front of this crowd" stated Jay, his face and voice displayed clearly throughout the arena thanks to the lacrima vision.
"I want you two to hit me as hard as you can" stated Jay in a challenging tone.
"What is he doing" asked Levy in a shocked tone since it appeared that Jay was going to give Sting and Rouge a free hit on him.
"Haha this guy is great, he's got guts" sated Gajeel with a wide smile, respecting Jay's confidence.
"Oh is that right" Sting started to say, amused that Jay would be so foolish. Sting would have continued his statement, but he was cut off by Jay.
"Now hold on, you might have misheard me" responded Jay in a mocking tone, spreading his arms wide to leave himself completely undefended. Jay could see the anger grow within Sting and Rouge; he was hurting their pride with his words.
"Not half as hard, not some arbitrary percentage" stated Jay, his mocking tone echoing through the arena while he called out Sting and Rouge in front of the entire kingdom.
"I want you to hit me as hard as you can" stated Jay, saying each word slowly to get his point across.
"And if we don't play along" asked Sting in an angry tone, his body trembling with rage since Jay was mocking their power. Jay knew just what to say in response to Sting's question to get their anger to consume them, it was almost too easy.
"Well then I guess Lector and Frosch were wrong about you" responded Jay in a mocking tone. Just as Jay predicated his words caused an immediate reaction from Sting and Rouge. Sting and Rouge quickly closed the distance between themselves and Jay. Sting delivered a powerful kick across Jay's face while Rouge punched Jay in the gut. While Jay stumbled back some short distance, it was clear from the smirk on his face that he was unaffected by the attacks he just took.
"Ooh consider that nerve touched" stated Jay in a mocking tone, showing that Sting and Rouge hadn't even put a scratch on him.
"What?! How" asked Sting, shocked that his attack didn't even scratch Jay.
"Because Sting as a soon to be broken man once said" responded Jay with a mocking smile, his face broadcasted throughout the entire arena.
"There's no room in Sabertooth for losers" stated Jay in a mocking tone, throwing Sting's word back at him. Jay was going enjoy not only beating Sting and Rouge, but he was also going to enjoy breaking their pride in front of everyone. After Jay said these words he rushed almost faster than the eye could see and crashed his fist onto Sting's jaw, sending the white dragon slayer flying into a wall. With a powerful spinning kick to the face, Rouge joined Sting as he crashed into the wall.
"What power" stated Mira in an impressed tone.
"Was Jay really holding back this entire time" asked Lisanna, impressed that Jay was easily toying with Sting and Rouge. It didn't even look like he was using his magical power, those hits were just him using his raw strength. Jay stood in place, allowing Sting and Rouge to get back up instead of ending the match. As Sting and Rouge struggled to stand back up, Jay continued to mock them.
"See this is what you get for not listening" stated Jay in a mocking tone while Sting and Rouge breathed heavily, trying to recover from the powerful attack they just took.
"But since I'm a nice guy and I know you have trouble following directions, I'm going to give you both one last chance" stated Jay while he put his hands behind his back, completely opening himself up for a direct attack.
"You. Me. As hard as you can. Are we clear" asked Jay in a mocking tone while Sting and Rouge glared angrily at him. Even from where Jay was standing he could feel the rage radiating from his former guildmates. Jay's words had hurt their pride as wizards of Sabertooth and their pride as dragon slayers, they couldn't let Jay get away with it.
"Crystal" responded Sting in an angry tone while he activated dragon force, Rouge did the same. Sting and Rouge radiated pure magical power, the strength of their dragon force was making the ground shake.
"There power is unreal" stated Gray, shocked at the power he was feeling for Sting and Rouge as they continued to channel their magic.
"Yes their power is impressive, but Jay is still just standing still, he's making no move to defend himself" responded Erza, hoping that Jay knew what he was doing. Erza understood that Jay was trying to break Sting and Rouge's pride, but she didn't want him to potentially throw away the match to accomplish that. Dust was being kicked up due to Sting and Rouge's climbing magical power, the crowd watching as the two dragon slayers drew strength from dragon force. Despite the astounding power that Sting and Rouge were building up, Jay remained still and made no move to dodge or defend himself.
"That's much better, I can actually feel that" stated Jay in a mocking tone, showing no fear as Sting and Rouge channeled a huge amount of magical power while they were using dragon force. Sting and Rouge glared angrily at Jay as they channeled their magical power, the ground was shaking from the weight of their built up power.
"In mere moments all you will be feeling is oblivion" yelled Sting, thinking he couldn't wait to wipe the smirk off of Jay's face.
"Jay better know what he is doing" stated Laxus while he watched the Sabertooth wizards continued to build a massive amount of magical power. While Sting and Rouge continued to prepare for a devastating attack, Jay remained still and made no move to defend himself.
"Please be careful Jay" stated Lisanna in a worried tone, fearful that Jay was about to get badly hurt.
"That or disappointment" responded Jay with a mocking smile, showing no fear as Sting and Rouge made the ground shake with their immense magical power while they were using dragon force.
Go ahead, flip that coin" stated Jay, spreading his arms wide, showing he was willing and prepared to take the full force of whatever attack Sting and Rouge were about to fire at him.
"Juvia can feel the magical power from here, she hopes that Jay can withstand such immense strength" stated Juvia in a worried tone, hoping that Jay wasn't about to throw away the match.
"That idiot is in the guild for all of five minutes and already he is making me regret it" stated Markov in an angry tone, thinking that Jay was just as bad as an annoyance as his other unruly children.
"Shadow Dragon Roar" yelled Rouge, shooting a massive breath attack towards Jay, the ground was ripped apart from the force of the attack.
"White Dragon Roar" yelled Sting, eager to end this match and show Jay that he was nothing when compared to his own strength. The two powerful breath attacks flew towards Jay, who stood still with a smile on his face. While the attacks flew towards Jay, the entirety of Fairy Tail watching from the stands were praying for their new guildmate's safety.
"Oh, how cute. They name it, OH SHIT" yelled Jay just before the two powerful breath attacks collided into him. The entire battle ground was consumed in a devastating magical explosion, the area Jay was standing in was the epicenter of the massive blast of power. All through the arena, the ground shook from the massive magical power that was just thrown at Jay.
"The whole arena is shaking" stated Lucy, looking around infirmary as the ground shook.
"I hope Jay and Natsu are okay" responded Wendy in a worried tone, hoping that they weren't the ones caught in whatever powerful magical attack just occurred.
"I wouldn't worry about those two, they don't know how to give up" responded Lucy with a smile, having complete confidence in Jay and Natsu.
"Incredible! The attack from Sting and Rouge has covered the entire arena in a thick cloud of smoke! The question that remains on everyone's mind is what happened to Jay Heartfilia" shouted the announcer while everyone in the crowd watched and waited for the smoke to clear.
"Don't worry Lisanna, I'm sure Jay will be alright" stated Mira, seeing that Lisanna had a worried expression on her face.
"I hope so, those attacks from Sting and Rouge were huge" responded Lisanna in a worried tone. Lisanna and everyone else watching the match had seen the two powerful breath attacks collide directly with Jay, there was no doubt that the water dragon slayer had been hit. Shortly after Lisanna said these words the smoke cloud cleared away enough to reveal Jay laying face first on the ground.
"Hahahaha" laughed Sting as the lacrima visions showed Jay's motionless body. Sting's laughter echoed throughout the arena while Fairy Tail prayed that Jay would get up.
"No Jay" stated Lisanna in a sad tone, hating to see Jay hurt this badly.
"Is he serious? After all of that showboating he loses that easily" asked Laxus while he watched for any sign of movement from Jay.
"That's it Sting! Good job showing Jay whose boss" stated Lector in a happy tone while Frosh celebrated Rouge's victory.
"Incredible folks! It looks like this the end of Jay Heartfilia which means" shouted the announcer before a voice rang out.
"Hey, don't call the match before it's over" stated Jay, the rest of the smoke clearing away to reveal Jay sitting casually on top of a mountain of ruble created from the recent attack. Jay was now shirtless; his top had been completely destroyed as a result of Sting and Rouge's breath attacks. Bruises covered Jay's upper body but other than that the water dragon slayer was unharmed. While Fairy Tail cheered that Jay was still in the fight, Sting and Rouge stared in disbelief.
"W-what?! That can be right! How can he still be standing" asked Sting in disbelief, unable to trust what he was seeing with his own eyes.
"If that's Jay then what is the body we saw" asked Rouge, glancing back to the motionless body on the ground. Jay stood up and started to stretch his arms while he smiled at the dumbfounded Sabertooth wizards.
"I thought it would be funny to make you two think you won" responded Jay with a smile as he released the magical power that was allowing his water decoy to hold it's form. Right before everyone's eyes the body that was briefly believed to be Jay turned into water.
"And I was right, you should see the look on your faces" stated Jay with a mocking smile.
"Amazing! What we believe to be Jay's body was nothing more than a water decoy! Despite taking damage from the powerful attacks, Jay Heartfilia is still standing" yelled the announcer while the crowd cheered since the exciting match wasn't over yet.
"That attack just now was impressive, blew the shirt right off my back and banged me up pretty good" stated Jay while he continued to stretch his arms. After finishing his stretching, Jay smiled from ear to ear at his former guildmates.
"Taking an attack like that really got my blood pumping" stated Jay with an excited smile.
"You think this proves anything, it doesn't change a thing" responded Sting in an annoyed tone, he could feel everyone in the arena judging him. Sting had just fired one of his most powerful attacks at Jay and he was still standing. Jay was embarrassing him, Sting glared at his former guildmate. No matter what Sting would not allow himself to lose, he would not let Lector down.
"Rouge and I are going to use everything we got to take you down" stated Sting, determined to wipe the smirk off of Jay's face.
"You two can certainly try but I warn you" responded Jay with a smile before he began to channel his magical power. Channeling his magical power, Jay activated his fire water dragon mode. A massive increase in Jay's power was felt by the wizards watching the match. Jay's skin took on a pinkish hue as fire and water magic melded together within his body.
"What sort of magic is that" asked Erza in an impressed tone, feeling as Jay's magical power climbed to new heights.
"Hey, are you guys feeling a bit of Natsu's power coming from Jay right now or is it just me" asked Gray, watching as steam started to leak out of Jay's body. Realization dawned on Erza as she heard these words.
"You're right, I can feel Natsu's magical power combining with Jay's. At some point Jay must have consumed Natsu's fire just like how Natsu consumed Laxus's lighting" responded Erza, curious to see what sort of things Jay could do as a fire water dragon slayer.
"I'm going to stop holding back" stated Jay with a smirk as his magical power continued to build. Jay could feel his blood boil within his body as fire and water magic combined within him.
"This mode isn't as strong as my dragon force, but my speed is off the charts. I bet you won't be able to even touch me with how fast I am now" stated Jay with a confident smile. Sting and Rouge tensed, readying themselves to resume battle as Jay smirked at them.
"You may be fast, but nothing is faster than my shadow" Rouge started to say, intending to move around in his shadow form before he was cut off. Rouge was cut off when Jay suddenly rushed forward, he moved as a blur thanks to his enhanced speed. In a flash Jay crashed his fist into Rouge's gut, sending the shadow dragon slayer flying backwards.
"W-what" asked Sting, shocked that Jay moved faster than he could perceive. Turning to Sting, Jay was smiling ear to ear.
"Don't worry I haven't forgotten about you" responded Jay before he delivered a spinning kick onto Sting's face. Sting crashed into the ground, his jaw hurting from the impact of the attack he just took.
"This is crap! How in the hell is he this strong" asked Sting, feeling worried since Jay's speed was completely overwhelming.
"Calm down Sting. It doesn't matter how fast Jay is. If we attack him together he won't stand a chance.
"Yah you're right, I just have to calm down. Can't let him get to me" responded Sting, thinking he needed to approach this situation with a clear head.
"Are you ready" asked Rouge as he observed Jay. Jay was currently standing in place, he was allowing his opponents to make the next move.
"Yah, let's beat this clown" responded Sting, frustrated that he was being tested this much when he was using dragon force. After Sting said these words, he rushed forward while Rouge did the same.
"That's it! Show me what you can do" yelled Jay, showing he was enjoying the two on one battle. Sting rushed forward and attempted to punch Jay but his attack was easily dodged when Jay sped around him.
"He's so fast" stated Erza, impressed that Jay was moving so quickly that even she was having trouble keeping track of him.
"Come on you can do better than that" stated Jay in a mocking tone as he kicked Sting in the back, sending the white dragon slayer crashing into Rouge. The two Sabertooth wizards grunted in pain as they crashed into each other. Using the fact that Sting and Rouge were unable to defend themselves, Jay readied his next attack.
"Fire Water Dragon Jet Fist" yelled Jay, using his enhanced speed to quickly crash his magical charged fist into Sting. Steam erupted from Jay's body as he released a large amount of magical energy, his magically charged fist dealing a lot of damage to Sting. Sting grunted in pain as he and Rogue flew a fair distance away into a nearby wall.
"He's not just fast but strong also in this form" stated Laxus, impressed that Jay was beating two dragon slayers with ease.
"The fight isn't over yet" responded Erza, observing that Sting and Rouge stood back up. Sting and Rouge were covered in bruises, but they refused to surrender. Rushing forward, Sting channeled his magical power.
"Speed won't mean a damn thing if you can't see" yelled Sting before he emitted a bright light, temporarily blinding Jay.
"Oh no, if Jay can't see then he won't be able to defend himself" stated Lisanna in a worried tone as she watched through squinted eyes as Sting and Rouge encircled a blinded Jay.
"Shadow Dragon Claw" yelled Rouge, swinging a magical formed claw at Jay while Sting yelled out his attack.
"White Dragon's Iron Fist" yelled Sting, his fist charged with magical energy as he aimed it towards Jay. Just before the two attacks collided with Jay, a massive amount of steam erupted from his body.
"Ahhh what" asked Rouge in a pained tone, the steam burning him as he came into contact with it.
"Ahhh it burns" stated Sting, unable to resist the hot steam scalding his body.
"Fire Water Dragon Steam Cloak" stated Jay with a smile while he was still blinding. Jay didn't know if Sting forgot about his sense of smell, the strategy of blinding him made zero sense against an opponent that could rely on smell. Using his strong nose, Jay was able to deliver powerful strikes onto Sting and Rouge.
"That was an impressive defense maneuver" stated Erza in an impressed tone. With the ability to emit scalding hot steam whenever he wished, Jay was going to be hard to touch even if someone could overcome his enhanced speed. After taking serval more hits, Sting and Rouge tumbled backwards away from Jay.
"What's wrong you two? This can't be all you got can it" asked Jay in a mocking tone while Sting and Rouge tried to catch their breaths. Sting glared at Jay while he wiped away some blood on his chin.
"You really staring to piss me off" responded Sting before he channeled his magical power.
"White Dragon Roar" yelled Sting, before he fired a powerful breath attack towards Jay. Jay smiled as the attack flew towards him. Instead of dodging the attack, Jay rushed straight into it and soon came out the other side. Coming out the other side of the attack, Jay was able to catch Sting completely off guard.
"What the" asked Sting before he was cut of when Jay grabbed onto his face and brought it down hard onto his knee. Sting could feel his nose break from the powerful knee slam to the face he just took. After crashing his knee against Sting's face, Jay punched him hard in the gut.
"You should look at yourself right now, you look pathetic" stated Jay in a mocking tone before he kicked Sting away. While Sting flew into a nearby pile of rubble, Jay blocked a claw attack from Rouge before he caught his arm.
"Come on Rouge, you can do better than that" stated Jay with a mocking smile before he pulled Rouge to him so he could crash his fist into his face. Rouge grunted in pain as he was flown backwards, his head ringing from the force of the punch he just took.
"This is unbelievable! Jay has completely taken control of the fight" shouted the announcer while Fairy Tail cheered for their newest member.
"Do you hear that" asked Jay with a mocking smile, referring to the sound of the cheering crowd.
"Everyone is watching how weak and pathetic you are" stated Jay as he took a step towards Sting and Rouge.
"You feel it don't you? The humiliation from having your weakness revealed to the world" asked Jay. Rouge rushed towards Jay, not wanting to hear more of his mocking. Rushing towards Jay, Rouge channeled his magical power.
"Shadow Dragon's Slash" yelled Rouge, his arm covered in shadows as he punched Jay. Jay reached out and caught Rouge's fist, the shadow dragon slayer's magic fading as Jay smiled at him.
"What a pathetic attack" responded Jay with a mocking smile before he jumped and kicked Rouge in the face, sending the shadow dragon slayer flying away.
"I'm going to make you to suffer for what you did" stated Jay as he channeled his magical power. Channeling his magical power, Jay summoned within him fire and water before he melded them together.
"Fire Water Dragon Steam Powered Assault" yelled Jay, blitzing towards Sting and Rouge. Quicker than the eye could see, Jay delivered a flurry of powerful magical enhanced punches to Sting and Rouge. Sting and Rouge grunted in pain as they were hit multiple times, each punch burning them due to the scalding hot steam. Soon Sting and Rouge was on the ground, their bodies covered in bruises.
"This could be it! Can Sting and Rouge stand back up after such a devastating attack" asked the announcer while the crowd continued to cheer for Jay. Jay looked at Sting and Rouge struggling to get up, a look of disdain was spread across his face.
"What are you two doing" asked Jay in a cold tone.
"Get up, I'm not done with you yet" stated Jay, recalling how Sting and Rouge laughed when Minerva beat Lucy.
"I said shut the hell up" responded Sting as he struggled to his feet. Just as Sting managed to stand back up, Jay sped over to him and crashed his knee into Sting's stomach. Reaching forward, Jay caught Sting before he flew away from the force of his attack. Holding Sting up by his throat, Jay smiled mockingly at his former guildmate.
"This is how Lucy felt when Minerva took things too far. How does it feel to be the one being beaten to a pulp in front of a large crowd" asked Jay in an angry tone as he punched Sting repeatedly in the stomach. Sting was trying to break free of Jay's hold, but he couldn't do anything beyond pained gasps each time Jay punched his gut. Just as Jay was about to punch Sting again, Rouge used his shadow to appear behind the water dragon slayer.
"Shadow Dragon" Rouge started to yell before he was cut of when Jay threw Sting to him. Rouge grunted in pain as Sting crashed into him, the two dragon slayers falling to the ground a few feet away from Jay.
"Now that I made you two feel like Lucy, I'm going to show you how Yukino felt when you humiliated her" stated Jay in an angry tone, dropping out of his fire water dragon mode.
"Oh yah? How are you going to do that" asked Sting with some confidence in his voice as he stood back up. Sting was gaining some confidence because Jay reverted back to his normal state, he falsely believed this meant Jay was running out of magical power.
"Simple, I'm going to show everyone that beneath all your talk you are just scared and insignificant boys" responded Jay with a smirk.
"That will never happen, we aren't like Yukino" responded Sting, refusing to believe that he was scared of Jay. Jay smiled in response to Sting's words, he was hoping he would say that. Now Jay could make Sting eat those words, he was going to embarrass him in front of the entire kingdom.
"I really don't like using this spell, it reveals my darker side" stated Jay as he began to build his magical power.
"Although you two have more than earned it so I don't feel bad about this" stated Jay before he cast his next spell.
"What is Jay planning folks?! What sort of attack are we about to see" shouted the announcer, while everyone watched Jay build magical power.
"Water Dragon Secret Art, Apex Aura" stated Jay in a cold tone. The instant that Jay cast his spell, Sting and Rouge felt a heavy weight press down on them. Sting and Rouge weren't the only ones affected by Jay's spell, almost everyone in the arena felt like they were paralyzed with fear.
"What" asked Sting as a chill wrapped over him.
"Damn do you guys feel that" asked Gray while he trembled in fear. Gray couldn't move a muscle, the chilling effect Jay had casted left him paralyzed.
"Yah I can feel it" responded Erza in a shaken tone. It appeared to Gray that Erza was less affected than him, perhaps Jay's spell only took full effect on those he could already overpower.
"Do you feel that fear" asked Jay with a smirk, watching as Sting and Rouge couldn't do anything other than stand still and tremble as they struggled to move an inch.
"W-what is this" asked Rouge, shaking in fear as Jay stepped closer to them.
"What you feel is my true killing intent" responded Jay in a cold tone, the intense aurora of fear spreading throughout the crowd. The entire crowd was silent, no one could speak above a whisper.
"You see the water dragons of legend were the kings of their domain. They were the top of their food chain, the apex predators. This spell channels that energy, it reminds everyone that they are prey before me" stated Jay, stepping closer to Sting and Rouge.
"The angrier I am, the stronger the spell is" stated Jay, intense rage within him as he remembered how Lucy and Yukino were treated.
"J-Juvia can't move" stated Juvia in a fearful tone. Looking around Lisanna was confused why all her friends were acting the way they were.
"What's wrong with you guys" asked Lisanna in a confused tone, not understanding what sort of spell Jay just cast. To Lisanna it felt like nothing had changed. Turning her attention towards her big sister, Lisanna was shocked to find even Mira shaking in fear.
"Mira are you okay" asked Lisanna in a worried tone while Mira visibly shook in fear.
"L-Lisanna how can you not f-feel that" asked Mira, her mind filled with intense fear as Jay continued to step towards Sting and Rouge.
"What are you talking about? Feel what? I don't feel any different" responded Lisanna still confused.
"I don't feel anything either Lisanna. Maybe we aren't affected since we have been with Jay" responded Cana, the only other person in the crowd not affected by Jay's spell.
"I heard about this type of spell before. A water dragon is able to paralyze their prey with fear and make them see their own death. This technique wouldn't work against the dragon's mate however" responded Marvis, explaining what she read a long time ago.
"You two can see it right? You can see the moment of your own deaths" asked Jay, stepping closer to Sting and Rouge. Sting couldn't speak, his mind could only focus on the thought of Jay ripping out his throat. Rouge was in a similar state, he couldn't move an inch as he prayed for the overwhelming fear to stop.
"If you two don't want that to happen you need to do something" stated Jay, stopping just a few steps away from Sting and Rouge. Jay waited for a moment, letting the overwhelming aura of fear he was radiating to bear down even harder onto Sting and Rouge.
"Give up, surrender now or else" stated Jay, increasing the output of his spell. Sting and Rouge were silent for a moment as they tried to resist the overwhelming fear bearing down on them. Looking at Jay, Sting and Rouge could clearly envision their own death. After another moment of resistance Sting and Rouge feel to their knees.
"We give up" stated Sting, knowing that if he continued to fight then he would face his own demise. The crowd was silent for a moment, no one had expected the match to end with a surrender.
"Never would I have imagined the match would end like this" stated the announcer in an awed tone, able to speak once again since Jay stopped his spell. Sting and Rouge were still on their knees, catching their breathes since they had forgotten to properly breath when they were affected by Jay's spell.
"The match is over! Jay Heartfilia from Fairy Tail has forced Sting and Rouge to surrender! The winners are Fairy Tail" shouted the announcer, the crowd cheering loudly since they regained the ability to speak. Jay held up a fist, raising it into the air as he basked in his victory. Looking through the crowd, Jay's eyes settled onto his old guild master. Jiemma was seething with rage and that made Jay smile. This wasn't the end of it Jay thought, he was going to stomp Sabertooth into the ground for what they did to Yukino and Lucy.
