Chapter Three: Testing Strength
In the Savannah, Kion was explaining to Bongo and Bobo what kind of training exercises they would be doing.
Kion: "Alright, Bongo, Bobo. Our training exercises are based on our skills." He began. "We're going to see how brave..." Bunga beamed, "strong..." Beshte smiled, "fast..." Fuli grinned, "keen-sighted..." Ono nodded, "and fierce you are."
Bobo: "So, both of us have to use your skills in these exercises?" He asked.
Kion: "Yes, that is correct." He confirmed.
Bongo: *stutters* "L-L-Let's d-d-do this B-B-Bobo!" He exclaimed with enthusiasm.
Kion: "First, we'll test your strength. Beshte, if you will." He instructed.
Beshte: "Sure thing, Kion." He agreed.
The first exercise, run by Beshte, was to have Bongo and Bobo move a big rock of their own to test their strength and see how far they could carry it.
Beshte: "Alright, Bongo, Bobo, my exercise for you is to move a big rock." He explained. "Watch this. Twende Kiboko!" He pushed the rock with ease.
Beshte: "Now you try." He encouraged.
Bobo: "This is going to be easy." He said confidently.
Bongo: "C-C-Can I g-g-go first?" He asked.
Bobo: "Sure, Bongo." He replied.
Bongo approached the same rock that Beshte had pushed.
Bongo: "Hrrr! Hahh!" He grunts with effort. "Be-Besh-Beshte, I ca- I c-c-can't d-d-do it." He struggled.
Beshte: "It's okay, just keep trying." He reassured him.
Kion: "We believe in you, Bongo!" He cheered.
Bunga: "You can do it, Bongo!" He added.
Ono: "We know how strong you are, Bongo!" He said encouragingly.
Fuli: "Just do your best. It's okay if you struggle." She said warmly.
Taking their words as inspiration, Bongo pushed his rock with all his might. He moved it little by little.
Bongo: *stutters* "I d-d-did it!" He exclaimed.
They all cheered for Bongo, but Bobo was unimpressed. As the older twin brother, he wanted to be the best at everything. When it was his turn to move the rock, not only did he move his rock, but he could also lift it as well.
Bobo: "Come on, Bongo, you can do it better than that. I can move and lift a big rock." He boasted.
Bongo felt downhearted.
Kion: "Well, time for the next training exercise." He announced.
