Tuppence resisted a groan as nausea hit her like a truck.

She doubled over and gripped the counter. A nose shuffling itself next to her made her look down.

"Hey, wolf. How ya doin' handsome?" Tuppence asked.

Wolf grunted and shuffled against her again.

"don't worry I will be alright. don't ya worry. No, go on while I cook."

Tuppence stood up, pulling a bottle of ginger tea from the fridge. As soon as she drank it, her nausea faded away.

"oh thank you, lord." She exclaimed once she was able to properly function. " now time ta cook!"

Cassie yawned and stretched as she was awoken by a knock on her door.

"it's open!"

The door opened to reveal a thirteen-year-old girl with short black hair and dark eyes.

" Hello, my father sent me up here to greet you and to let you know that dinner is ready. My name is Ace by the way."

"Hi, nice to meet you. my name is Cassie. Is Ace your hero name? or is there something else you would like for me to call you?"

"oh, that's right civilian names. That is something I am still getting used to. My civilian name is Aria. Please join us for dinner."

With that said Ace or Aria in that case walked away.

"hey wait up!" Cassie called flying after her.

Cassie caught up to Ace as they made their way through the hallways before a wonderful scent hit her nose.

"ohh my gosh that smells wonderful!"

Ace however didn't reply. she simply nodded at what Cassie had to say.

Cassie was greeted by Conner's smile as he and another man who looked exactly like him set the table.

"Woah! Conner, he looks like your twin!" Cassie exclaimed.

Conner and the guy looked at each other and laughed.

"that's cause he is Cassie. Waylon this is Cassie, Cassie this is my twin brother Waylon. The only way you tell us apart is by our eyes. other than that we pretty much look alike."

Both Conner and Waylon had long hair which was now in a man bun and both men wore goatees.

"Waylon Axson Luthor, it's nice to meet you, Cassie." He greeted

"It's nice to meet you too. Conner, is there anything I can do to help?"

"yes, there is would you mind grabbing the napkins from Adeline in the kitchen? Please and thank you."

Cassie flew to where she heard Adeline's voice and made her presence known.

"um Adeline conner-"

"needs napkins. I heard him darlin. How was yer nap?" Adeline asked as she handed her the napkins.

"it was great! The bed was huge and so soft."

It was then Cassie noticed two other women in the kitchen. A tall woman with glowing green eyes and fire-red hair, and another woman with dark blue hair and grey skin.

"oh crap, how rude of me! hi! Im cassie!"

The woman with glowing green hands floated to her with a blazing smile. Her skin was orange, it was obvious she was an alien.

"greetings cassie! I am korri! It is wonderful to have you join us! any friend of my fathers is a friend of mine!"

"Father?" Cassie questioned. She couldn't possibly be talking conner right? I mean aria being his adopted child makes sense but this looks to be about the same age as Conner. That couldn't be right.

"oh yes! Conner rescued me from an intergalactic sex ring five years ago. As I have no family left, I look to him and Adeline as parental figures! Isn't that an earth custom when one is adopted by two other adults?"

"ah. Yeah, you'd be right." Cassie replied awkwardly. Intergalactic sex ring? Just what has Conner been up to when he was gone?

Cassie turned to acknowledge the other girl, but she was gone.

"don't mind Raven darlin, she's not too fond of new people. Here are the napkins, I'll be right in."

When Cassie went back into the dining room, the room had become full of other occupations she hadn't met yet.

Before she could say anything, Adeline was bellowing from the kitchen.

"Boys! Come grab the food please!"

Immediately the males in the room were heading towards the kitchen.

"Cassie! Here is a chair!" Kori motioned

Cassie sat down next to her, and the woman was talking nonstop.

"So, Cassie tell me what brings you to our home!" Kori asked her after she finally stopped talking.

Cassie couldn't help but smile, the alien had a warm personality. She could see them being friends.

"Well, conner and I used to be on the same team for a while before he left. We just bumped into each other today and he invited me over."

"That is amazing! Isn't the bond of friendships wonderful!"

Cassie felt sadness hit her as she thought about how she and her friends had drifted apart. Transitioning from training on themysica to being on the team was hard but being a young adult and trying to have a social life was challenging. So Cassie did what any young adult would do, she drew close to her friends and created relationships she thought were strong but in the end they all unraveled. It all happened at once, one day her team was working together, and then the next Arrowette, spoiler, orphan, and Robin were all gone.

They left her. just like everyone else did.

She had never met her father, her mother didn't care, her mentor wasn't around, and then Tim was the catalyst that broke her, he had walked away without so much as a blink. There was no phone call, no text message, and whenever she tried to contact him, he ignored her.

Why does no one want me?

A soft touch brought Cassie out of her self-pity. When she turned her head, she was surprised to Aria sitting next to her holding her hand.

"you are wanted," Aria told her firmly. " you being here proves it."

Before Cassie could say anything, Kori hugged her tightly from behind, practically lifting her from her seat.

Cassie couldn't help but laugh at the aliens' eagerness.

" Thank you."

"Well, I think we're all ready for dinner," Conner announced as Tuppence brought in the last of the food.

It was a pretty big spread.

Roast, potatoes, corn, biscuits, green beans and lemonade.

"Alright, now y'all know the drill. Let's pray." Tuppence instructed.

Everyone grabbed hands and bowed their heads, that's when Conner began to pray.

"dear lord, thank you for this meal, thank you for your family, and thank you restored friendships. In Jesus' name amen."

"amen." Everyone agreed. Cassie on the other hand didn't say anything. She had no clue how to feel about the prayer but she respected everyone's beliefs.

" So Cassie, I see you've met Ace, Kori, and Waylon. But I wanted to introduce you to Raven, my sister-in-law, and across from you are my sons Terry and Matthew. The youngest of us is little Lucy" Conner introduced.

Cassie happily said hello to everyone but noticed Terry in particular seemed a little angry. He showed his colors when she asked him to pass her the carrots.

"im sorry but do we have a problem?" she asked sternly when he practically threw them at her.

"Yes, we do. I have a problem with you!" Terry sneered as he stood up

"Terry McGinnis Luthor you sit your tail down and don't you dare raise your voice at my table! I don't know who you think you are being rude to our guest but it won't happen here boy!" conner boomed

Terry sat down and pushed his plate away.

"May I please be excused?" Terry asked quietly.

Conner sighed and gestured for Terry to go.

"Sorry about that Cassie. As soon as Terry cools down, hell be down to apologize."

"but what's his problem with me?" she asked.

"I think I'll let him explain. Now tell me what you like to do in your free time?"

After dinner, Cassie found herself in an intense spar with the Axson-Luthor family. Everyone participated except for Terry, Tuppence, and Lucy.

Cassie couldn't help but fangirl over some of the family's powers. Kori with her flight and green lasers, Raven with her power to lift things with her mind, conner and his super strength along with some new moves he was teaching her.

It also seemed that Matthew and Terry were very flexible and good at acrobatics while Waylon was a skilled swordsman.

Once the five-hour session was over, Terry approached her.

"hey… can we talk?"

"Not if you're going to catch another attitude."

Terry threw his hands up in mock surrender.

"I come in peace."

"fine. I'll listen." Cassie told him.

"I want to take you to my favorite place. come on."

Twenty minutes later, they were sitting on a giant boulder overlooking the island.

"This is my favorite spot. I come here to think and have some silence. Anyway, I apologize for being a douche today. It was unfair to you and you didn't deserve it. I have a big problem with mainstream superheroes and since your mentor is wonderwomen, I was triggered. I am very protective over my family and I feel threatened when new people enter especially if I don't know you. Here's why, I was living a normal life with my parents and infant brother in Gotham. We had just left some kiddie show on ice when we were accosted in a dark alleyway. my parents were killed in front of me and I was kidnapped and placed in Cadmus. Telepathicly fed images and information about who I was to become. Does this story sound familiar yet?"

Terry gave her time to think before Cassie shrieked and flew into the air.

"no! No! that's Batman story all over again! Cadmus tried to recreate another Batman."

Terry chuckled darkly and said "Not tried, they did. Amanda Waller stole Batman's DNA and my mother's and had her artificially inseminated without her knowing. She and her husband at the time thought she had gotten pregnant by him and were excited. Nine months later there I was. Cadmus had been watching me the whole time. and once they got a hold of me horrible things had happened. Stuff I don't want to recount. Anyway, Pa, I mean Conner freed me from that life when I was twelve, he helped me track Matthew down and we've been with him ever since. Batman is my biological father but I'm not ready to face that reality or what that could mean for me. the possible siblings I could have from him. Conner Axson Luthor is the man who raised me and that's how it's going to be. Not that Pa hasn't given me multiple chances to reveal who I am to Batman, I just don't want to do it. so long story short that's my beef with superheroes and once again I apologize."

"wow, I don't know what to say Terry except what happened to you was unfair. How old are you? and what school do you go to?" Cassie asked

"im eighteen, and im in my senior year at a private school. what about you?"

That night was the start of a new friendship for Cassie
