Chapter 01: Chunks or Rings?
[Sabrina The Teenage Witch - Earth 1996B]
"I hate being a witch! I just turned the most popular girl in school into a pineapple!" Sabrina vented to her two aunts. The pair had been seated at the dining room table minding their own business until their niece stormed in holding what appeared to be a tropical fruit. As it turns out that tropical fruit actually used to be one of her peers.
Hilda was the first one to speak and asked the very first thing that came to mind. "Why?"
"Because It's the only thing you taught me how to do!" Sabrina answered without missing a beat. She hadn't meant to turn Libby into a pineapple, but she was still a novice when it came to using magic and the obnoxious girl just got her so upset by purposefully spilling her drink onto her shirt a lunch. Even if she didn't like her all that much, that was completely uncalled for.
Hilda didn't look all that phased by her upset niece's tone and gently took the fruit from her hands. "Chill, I can fix this."
Both Sabrina and Zelda followed Hilda as she got up from the dining room table and walked into the kitchen. She gently placed the pineapple that used to be a girl down on a nearby cutting board and grabbed a cleaver from its sleeve. She was a master of quick fixes and in her mind, this seemed like the quickest way to solve Sabrina's little fruit problem.
She held the knife over the pineapple and asked the pair, "Chunks or rings?"
"Hilda, there are other ways." Zelda gently cut in before her sister could make the first slice.
Said woman looked confused for a moment. "Wedges?"
"Exactly." Zelda confirmed.
"Wedges sounds good!" Sabrina quickly added.
She knew she couldn't fix Libby herself and if her aunts hadn't already used their magic to fix the girl then it stands to reason that there was nothing they could do either, otherwise they would've done it by now. It was terrible to leave Libby to her pineapple fate, but she wasn't exactly human anymore now, was she? She was fruit, and fruit was meant to be eaten before it went bad.
"I hear you, one order of pineapple wedges coming right up." Hilda spoke. She raised the knife high and brought it down right through the center of the pineapple.
Sabrina's eyes widened at what she just witnessed and wondered if she should've said something other than just going along with her aunt's idea of a quick fix.
"In the meantime, I'll help you work on sealing your spells properly." Zelda said to her niece before ushering her out of the kitchen.
The next day at School, Sabrina was going through her locker when her friend Jenny walked up to her. "Hey Sabrina, how are you feeling after yesterday?"
"Better." She answered before swallowing whatever she'd been munching on.
Jenny noted the small container in her hand. "What have you got there?"
Sabrina peeled off the lid to reveal her little snack. "Pineapple. Want some?"
"Thanks, fresh fruit in the morning is just what the doctor ordered." Jenny smiled before taking a chunk and plopping it into her mouth. "Juicy."
"I know, right." Sabrina smiled. Who knew freshy transformed pineapple tasted so good.
As she shut her locker and the pair got ready to head to Mr. Pool's class, Jenny asked her friend if she'd seen Libby at all since yesterday. Sabrina's eyes trailed towards her container as she plopped another fresh piece of pineapple chunk into her mouth.
"Nope."
No one ever found out what caused the disappearance of Libby Chessler. Her name would forever go down in the school's history as an urban legend to never be solved for generations to come.
Only Sabrina, Hilda and Zelda would know the truth... that Libby Chessler tasted pretty darn good.
