Magic
The emotions in Durran's eyes flickered from commanding to fearful, as soon as he realized what the intruder was reaching for. "Fire," he shouted, panicking. "Stun him now!"
Powerful shockwaves burst from the weapons in tandem but to their astonishment, the energy harmlessly splashed over some sort of barrier, made visible by the shockwave that was surrounding their target. It slowly spread, with a crackling sound, all over the barrier and dissipated. The soldiers looked to their commander, uncertain what to do next. Even though their faces were covered by a dark helmet, their hesitance and fear of the unknown power in front of them was easily discernible.
"Impossible," Durran whispered in shock.
Harry stood up straight, his back still facing the small squad, and let out a shaky breath of pure bliss.
The moment his fingers had brushed his wand, the joyful sound of a phoenix singing filled every fiber of his senses. The song was so full of emotion that Harry was overwhelmed by the experience and felt like taking his hand away just so he wouldn't die because of the power of the song. But when it almost became too much, he felt like a dam had just burst in his chest and his magic rushed through his wand like a powerful blaze and yet it felt gentle. It felt so pure… so powerful… so unbelievably light. He had never imagined his reunion with his wand would be so beautiful.
If he had been asked to describe it later, he would say that before the dam burst his magic was like a quill scratching against a parchment. But now, it felt like he was lovingly caressing the finest silk with his bare hands.
He wasn't aware of the shockwaves he was being bombarded with. He was on an incredible high and his magic was instinctively protecting him.
When he began to come down from his impromptu trip to ecstasy, he slowly became aware of his body which had, during that time, felt like a shapeless object holding unimaginable power and then he noticed his surroundings and the small squad that had their firearms trained on him.
"You have three seconds to drop your weapons," he said, turning around. "After that your survival rate is highly questionable."
Everyone in the room took a step back in fright. Harry's eyes were glowing.
"We exterminated your kind," Durran said in disbelief. "How did you survive the purge?"
Righteous anger sliced through Harry's heart. "You shouldn't have said that," he hissed furiously.
"Kill him!" Durran screamed.
The soldiers switched their weapons to kill mode and pulled the trigger and they watched helplessly as the energy from their weapons, which discharged a charge so strong that it fatally burnt the internal organs of a living organism, didn't even touch their target.
"Soporpulvis," Harry hissed and a cloud of dust burst from his wand, spreading to all corners of the room.
He waited and watched as, one by one, every person in the room crumpled to the floor in a deep sleep. He had been so tempted to slice them all but he changed his mind at the last second. He wanted Durran Heymer alive.
"So I guess it's true what they say about magic getting stronger as you grow older," Harry said, trembling, as the rage that had cut through him abated. He might not have aged physically, but his magic and the power of his wand had grown by leaps and bounds. He had been incapable of performing that spell when he was on Earth. Only someone of the same caliber as Mad Eye or Kingsley had been capable and it left them tired after casting the spell. Harry didn't even break out into a sweat.
Harry giggled when the dust and his rage finally settled down. His mind, body and wand were still feeling the effects of the magical high that he had just experienced.
"Maybe I should seal myself again and take you back after another five hundred years eh," he said to his wand, laughing.
He blinked when his wand vibrated in his hand. Apparently the joke was not appreciated.
"Am I still high?"
He shook his wand and brought it up to eye level hoping for a reply but none came. "I am still high," he concluded, chuckling.
"Now, down to business," he muttered and revived Durran.
The biotech engineer groaned and opened his eyes. He scrambled back until he hit the wall when he saw Harry's face hovering above him.
"I have some questions for you Mr. Haymer," Harry said, his voice dripping with venom. "And I hope for your sake that you answer them truthfully."
"Wh-what do you want?" Durran stammered. His eyes roved from side to side, desperately looking for a way to escape but there was none to be found.
"I want to know what happened to the wizards and witches living on Sihnon."
"I…"
"And remember Mr. Durran. I am a wizard and I can tell if you're lying to me. So I hope, for your sake, you don't do anything foolish."
Durran had never felt more afraid in his life.

Outside warehouse 13, Zoe was perched on the roof of another warehouse two rows away from number thirteen.
Night was approaching fast and Harry had not yet come out. She had decided not to go to the canyon and keep an eye out for trouble. She had a bad feeling about this whole mission from the start and watching Harry disappear into a warehouse with Saffron only served to increase her paranoia.
"Zoe," Mal's voice crackled out of her communicator. "Are you there?"
"Mal," she whispered into the device.
"The drop was smooth enough. Those bastards paid us less than what was promised. They said we took too much time to deliver the goods."
"What?!" Zoe exclaimed, annoyed. "Those slimy two faced assholes!"
"What's the situation down at your end? We're about to enter the atmo."
"Harry's in a warehouse with Saffron," she said.
"Alone?!" Mal gasped. "Ai ya, wo mun wan luh."
"Didn't have a choice cap'n," she said grimly. "Couldn't let your wife find out about our involvement."
"Zoe, what have I told you about…" Mal began hotly but his voice was drowned out in the roaring approach of an Alliance shuttle.
It landed right in front of the warehouse that Harry was in. "Uh oh," Zoe murmured.
"Zoe? Zoe, what happened? Zoe?"
"We got a problem Mal," she said, her voice soft and urgent. "The Feds are here."
"Get the hell out of there now," Mal said, his voice turning serious.
"But Harry?"
"Zoe, get out now. If the feds are there that means we run the risk of being discovered and pursued."
"We can't leave him Mal!"
"Don't do anything stupid Zoe," Mal warned. "We warned him this could happen."
"I'm going to wait to see if they got him," Zoe said, determined to stay until she was sure there was no rescue possible. "Keep Serenity out of sight. I'll keep you updated."
"Be careful," Mal said.
"Gorramit Harry," Zoe cursed. "You better use your powers and get out of there."
Every second that passed by felt agonizing to her. She kept bracing herself for the moment that the Alliance dragged Harry out in cuffs but five minutes had passed and no one had come out so far.
Her grip on her shotgun tightened when she saw Saffron sprinting out of the warehouse and she wanted nothing more than to kill that woman but she controlled herself.
Her eyes widened when Saffron quickly slipped into the shuttle and knocked out the unaware pilot with a well aimed kick. "That bitch!" she exclaimed when Saffron dumped the pilot out and took flight and disappeared into the sky.
Saffron had made her escape.
"What the hell is going on?" Zoe wondered out loud. She spent ten more minutes thinking of one worse scenario after the other. Was Harry fighting them off? The impulse to go and help him was hard to resist.
"Zoe," Mal's voice came over the com. "You have to leave now. There's a cruiser heading this way and I don't intend to get caught in their radar. Leave now."
"Jao Gao," Zoe mumbled. The threat of a cruiser meant that waiting for Harry was no longer an option. She quickly slid down the ladder and ran to the shuttle. "I hope you make it out Harry."
She had just begun to bring the shuttle to life when a loud cracking sound filled the small space inside. She turned around, shotgun at the ready, and found Harry grinning at her.
"Hi," he said and waved his hand cheekily. "Leaving without me?"
That did it. Her temper snapped and she punched him in the face.
Harry stumbled back and fell to the floor. "Oww," he groaned. "What the hell was that for?"
"Do you have any idea how worried I've been," she spat, towering over him. Harry just groaned and she spun back to the cockpit and gently piloted the shuttle back in the air. "When I saw the Alliance move into the warehouse, I thought you were done for!"
"I'm bleeding," Harry complained, wiping the blood from his lips. Zoe packed a powerful punch.
"Are you listening?!" she yelled.
"Relax," he said, raising his hands to calm her. "Everything is fine."
Zoe ground her teeth together. "Are you alright? How did you escape?"
Harry showed her his wand with a stupid, happy grin on his face. "I found it," he said, delirious with excitement. "I found it."
"Oh my god," Zoe gasped. "Is that your wand?!"
"Yes it is," Harry said, looking at it adoringly. "You have no idea how wonderful it feels to be holding her again. And how did you know the Haymer's soldiers were there?"
Harry hopped into the chair next to Zoe and looked at her quizzically.
"Mal, send me your coordinates," she said, pressing a button on the control panel.
Numbers appeared on the panel and Zoe accordingly adjusted her bearings.
"We'll talk on Serenity," she said. "It'll be better to explain everything once."
"You didn't wait at the canyon did you?"
"No. I was watching from above one of the warehouses. Saffron escaped by the way."
"I know," Harry said sourly. "But as far as Haymer and his men are concerned, she was the only one to break into the warehouse and steal a bunch of his precious stones."
Harry then put his hand into his pocket and removed a couple of glittering stones. "Beautiful aren't they," he said, smirking.
"You crazy son of a bitch," she breathed in awe. "What did you do?"
"I modified their memories to show that I was never there and it was Saffron who stole the jewels before flooding the warehouse with sleeping gas."
Zoe frowned. "Sleeping gas? And where would she get sleeping gas after escaping from prison barely two hours ago, huh?"
Harry shrugged. "Her accomplices I suppose," he said. "That's up to Haymer to figure out. The point is - I'm completely out of the picture."
Zoe pursed her lips. Clearly Harry was underestimating the Alliance's capabilities in figuring out the truth.
Mal's voice crackled out of the com once more, telling her to reduce speed and get ready for docking. Zoe did so and with an ease born of experience, the shuttle was back to being part of Serenity. She got up with a sigh and beckoned Harry to follow.
The sound of the engine got louder as the ship began to ascend, escaping the pull of gravity before going into hyper speed to escape the threat of the cruiser.
Mal thundered down the stairs and was surprised to see Harry along with Zoe. He looked at Zoe questioningly. "I thought Harry had been captured by the Alliance?"
"He escaped," Zoe said shortly.
"It's nice to know that you care so much, Captain," Harry said, rolling his eyes.
"That's my job," Mal agreed sarcastically.
"What?" Harry asked when Mal didn't move but continued to stare at them.
"What do you mean what? Was your mission a success or not?"
Harry grinned and waved his wand in Mal's face.
"Huh," Mal said, unimpressed. "It looks like any ordinary stick but shinier."
"The wood is a conduit for channeling magic through the wand's core," Harry said, feeling a little offended at the lack of awe in Mal. "Mine is the feather of a phoenix."
"Phoenixes are real?!" Kaylee's excitable voice gasped.
"Hey Kaylee," Harry said warmly and hugged the mechanic. "You and Simon getting along fine?"
"He's handling things just fine," Kaylee said suggestively and winked.
Harry laughed. "Good to know."
"Why are you acting so different?" Mal inquired. "Being cheerful is so unlike you."
"I feel whole again," Harry said immediately. "And that makes me happy."
"Whatever," Mal said, rolling his eyes. "Just don't turn into a woman."
Zoe pinched Mal hard and didn't look a least bit sorry when he yelped in pain. "That was for that sexist remark," she said acidly. "Let's go. I'm sure the others are waiting for news about Harry's mission."
"We've been having far too many round table conferences lately," Mal grumbled. "What happened to the good old days of smuggling and shooting?" he bemoaned.
"They got mixed up with supernatural craziness, cap'n," Kaylee said brightly.
Jayne, Simon and River were already at the table picking at the food on their plate with disgust. "We got to get fresh supplies Mal," Jayne complained. "This shit tastes like deep fried shit now."
River's eyes lit up when she saw Harry. "Did you find anything?" Simon asked when River poked him. "She burnt her tongue," he added, pointing at River. "She's not talking because she's angry that I scolded her for not paying attention to her food."
Harry laughed and River scowled.
"Well? Did you find anything?" Simon asked again.
Harry drew his wand from his sleeve once more and showed it. River gasped and her familiar presence pressed against Harry's mind once more. He ignored Jayne's 'just a stupid stick' comment.
"Saffron was the key to getting my wand," Harry began without wasting any time. He too was eager to tell the story. "I visited her in prison, helped her breakout and she led me to a warehouse with artifacts from Earth. There was a hidden room in the warehouse with magical objects and books."
"Did you bring any other magic stuff?" Kaylee asked, wide eyed.
"Yes and I'll show them later but…" Harry's voice dropped a notch and took on a more seductive note. "I think you all want to hear what I got to say next."
Anticipation gripped the air around them and they leaned in closer to Harry who chose to sit at the head of the table.
"Saffron alerted the Alliance of the break in as soon as we went in and when the feds came in Durran Haymer was with them. They came in just as I found my wand and once I got it it was a piece of cake subduing them."
"Wow! What did you do to them?"
I put them to sleep but Saffron had already escaped by then. I brought Haymer around and was persuasive enough to get him to tell me the truth." Harry took a deep breath as he recalled the conversation with vivid clarity. "Haymer was recruited by the parliament a while before the unification war and presented nearly a dozen witches and wizards to experiment upon. His job was to create a weapon or substance that rendered magic inert. He ended up creating a gas that caused what he called disturbances in the flow of magic in a wizard and weakened them drastically. It didn't last for long but it was long enough for them to release the gas into the magical community and kill them all. The pax that wiped out Miranda was an overambitious project of the Alliance headed by a man named Dijon who thought he could use Haymer's formula to create a gas that could kill aggression in humans."
Harry closed his eyes and pushed back the feeling of distress and revenge that was threatening to overcome him.
"I asked him about the wizards' flight from Earth and if Voldemort was still alive but he didn't know anything about that. He did say that the Alliance has files on a war between them and wizards and it was on Earth that the muggles – I mean non magical people won the war. He did mention that even though the war was won and magic pushed back into the darkness, there was always some form of conflict with magic until the purge."
"This is unbelievable," Zoe said. "A secret war between people with magic against people without magic stretching back to the times we lived on Earth."
"Why do I feel like the Alliance did the right thing in killing these people," Jayne said. "No offense Harry, but it sounds like the Independents were the only ones that wanted freedom while the Alliance and this Voldemort wanted world dominance."
Harry sighed, his eyes downcast. "Voldemort was a monster and he had people around him who were just as bad. But the rest of the people were innocent and kept under the control of Voldemort's people. But that was seven hundred years ago. Does this mean under Voldemort's rule, my people became more bloodthirsty? They apparently and thankfully lost the war after I was sealed and still they learnt nothing? Voldemort, with his immeasurable power, could not fight the Alliance? There is a lot that I'm missing and I have to find out the truth."
"Cheer up Harry," Mal said, clapping him on the back. "You've got your wand back and that's a start. Now your benefit to this crew has just increased tenfold. So why don't you show us what you can do?"
"Hold on a minute," Simon said slowly. "From what I've understood, this Voldemort is centuries old which means he's practically immortal."
Simon seemed to be astonished by his own conclusion and every eye in the room blinked as they understood what Simon's words meant. Hearing that fascinating history seemed to have made them overlook a few things but Simon had not. River, on the other hand, didn't look remotely surprised. She had reached and made many conclusions after their visit to Sihnon.
"And what's more unbelievable is that it seems you were there during the war on Earth. Tell us the truth. You were sealed on Earth weren't you?"
Harry sighed.
"Yes I was," he admitted. "I was born in England and raised in Surrey. Voldemort was the monster who made me an orphan and started a war to kill everyone whose blood was impure. There was a group of us who opposed him but we lost and I was captured. The next thing I knew, I was aboard Serenity after being tortured and sealed."
"Wow."
"Can you imagine waking up to a world so different from what you remember and everything that you knew gone?"
Finally the crew understood Harry's obsession and his pain. Everyone did but Jayne was the only one who thought it was all ridiculous.
"Oh stop whining gorramit," he barked, slamming a fist on the table. "Enough with the past. The past is always full of shit. Why don't you show us your magic tricks and the toys you brought back from that warehouse so that we can put this gorram freakiness behind us and go to bed already!"
Harry puffed up with indignation. "Well excuse me for wanting to know about the past. How would you feel if everything you knew was gone?!"
Jayne thought about it for a moment and shrugged. "Find a whore, drown the sorrow away with a bottle of scotch and get busy with another whore."
"Jayne!" Kaylee said, scandalized.
"No it's alright," Harry said. "He's right."
"He's right?" Zoe said incredulously.
"There's wisdom in his words, even if he doesn't realize that." And then Harry pointed his wand at Jayne and whispered a spell.
Jayne stood up, his eyes wide with fear, and started yelling- but for all the yelling he was doing, not a sound came out. He realized what had happened to him a moment later and with murder in his eyes he stomped towards Harry and a laughing Zoe and Mal held him back.
"Undo whatever you did before this Rhino overpowers us!"
"I kinda like him this way," River said, unable to resist the urge to say something.
Harry quickly undid the spell.
"….cut you into a million pieces and serve you for breakfast!"
Jayne quietened when he realized his voice. A low growl came from his throat and he bared his teeth at Harry. "Don't ever use your voodoo on me you got that?"
Harry grinned and nodded. It was amusing to see Jayne getting all worked up and frightened. He imagined himself having a lot of fun messing around with Jayne in the coming days.
"What else can you do?" Kaylee asked, excited.
Harry thought about it for a moment and then he pointed his wand at Mal's gun and whispered a spell.
Mal jerked back and stared at his gun in alarm. "What did you do?"
Harry couldn't help but laugh. "Why don't you try shooting something?"
"What did you do to my gun?" Mal asked again. He cautiously pulled it out from its holster and examined it carefully but found nothing out of place.
"Just shoot," Harry said, grinning. "It's a surprise."
Mal frowned but just in case he pointed his gun at one the empty cans on the kitchen shelf and pulled the trigger. The bang that followed was so loud that it made everyone duck for cover but what made them burst out laughing was the little red flag that was sticking out from the barrel with the words 'bang' printed on it.
"The gun suits you Mal," Jayne cackled. "All sound but no bite."
"Maybe Harry should take your voice away again," Mal snapped, feeling annoyed at the state of his precious gun. "You better fix my gun Harry or else I'll use another to put a hole in you," Mal threatened.
Harry flicked his wand and removed the spell. "Don't try to shoot anything now," he warned.
"Didn't you say you stole more magic stuff from the warehouse?" Kaylee reminded. "Where is all that stuff?"
"You're going to love this one," Harry said to the crew. He dug out a small pouch from his pocket and dropped it on the table. The sound it made on meeting the wood made it feel like the flimsy looking cloth held much more than it was supposed to.
"That's it?" Zoe asked, unimpressed.
Harry smiled mischievously, opened the strings of the pouch, and put his entire arm into the pouch which looked like it was impossible to even fit your fist inside.
"Ta ma duh!"
Harry rummaged inside and pulled out a book. It was titled: Household charms and tricks.
"This pouch has a feather light charm and extendable charm on it," Harry explained softly. He didn't have to raise his voice because everyone was staring at the little pouch in amazement. Mal was eagerly contemplating how easy it was going to be to smuggle goods across the black now. "The more items you put inside, the more it expands from the inside. Think of the insides of the pouch as a dimension separate from the one we are in."
"Incredible," Kaylee whispered. "Can I put my hand in?" she asked eagerly.
"Of course. There are some brooms, books, lots of wands and some other objects I've never seen before. They're probably magical items invented after my sealing."
"Well I think we've had enough of a show," Mal said, his mind still reeling with the possibilities. "I think it's time you use your magic for something more important."
Harry frowned, confused. "Like what?"
Mal pointed a finger at River. "Fix her."
River, who had been watching everything with stoic curiosity, fixed her brown eyes on Harry's green. Harry had been dreading this moment. Ever since he had felt the turbulence of River's mind, he knew attempting to teach River the art of Occlumency was going to be a dangerous task. He could tell that she understood his hesitance and she wasn't going to let something as little as fear get in the way of him teaching her to control her mind.
"Are these flying brooms?" Zoe asked, fascinated with the state of the old broom that was apparently capable of flying.
"I don't know if the charms are still strong after so many years. I doubt it's still capable of flying."
"What are these rods?" Jayne asked curiously. He had overcome a fraction of his fear and suspicion of magic and was bravely touching the things that Kaylee was digging out of the bag.
"I don't know," Harry replied. "I've never seen them before."
"Stop pushing Simon!"
"Quit hogging all the space! I want to put my hand in too," Simon protested, resisting Kaylee's attempts to shove him aside. He managed to grab a hold of a couple of wands with exquisite Latin markings on them. "Looks like something a rich prick would have owned," he commented.
"Someone like you no doubt," Mal remarked.
"Lemme see that," Kaylee demanded and snatched the wands from Simon.
What happened next, no one would have even imagined. It was one of those situations that no matter what you do, you simply cannot predict. It was an abnormality in a scenario where there shouldn't have been any.
Sparks flew out of the wand as soon as they came in contact with Kaylee's hands.

Londinium
Two men were walking briskly along a wide corridor, paved with black marble and reddish brown walls that had large sculptures depicting important events in the history of the human race at regular intervals. The corridor started at the bottom of the circular building, serving as a single entrance and it spiraled all the way ten stories above without any breaks and without any indication of a way into the interior of the building. This building was the official home to the ten councilors who ran the parliament.
It was dusk and the sky was a scatter of orange illuminated clouds. Particles of dust could be seen floating lazily giving the building an ethereal glow but as the star lowered into the horizon, the light that brought warmth to those under its rays was slowly and systematically sucked out existence, giving way to the artificial lights that kept life running without pause.
They stopped on the fifth storey and one of the men pushed a statue depicting the flight on mankind from Earth that was. It was a sculpture of the ark rising from the bowels of an Earth that was collapsing into itself. Even though it was carved out of stone, it wasn't hard to picture the horrifying image in your mind.
"Did the Earth really explode?" The man who asked the question was young and fair in appearance. He had narrow clever looking eyes and was easily identifiable by the pointed gelled beard that he sported.
"Don't be ridiculous Spade," the other man said. "And don't ask questions that have nothing to do with the matter at hand!"
"Apologies, councilor."
This councilor was a man in his late forties. His black hair was shoulder length and peppered with strings of gray. He had lines etched on his face that were the result of stress and a constant state of frowning. His eyebrows were thick and drooping framing his fiery eyes that oozed confidence and power. He was tall and thin and clothed in the finest silk produced in the verse.
The statue sank into the wall without much resistance and slid aside giving way to enter the room. It moved back into place once the men were inside.
They were in a lavishly decorated living room and Spade, who was visiting the councilor's chambers for the first time, looked around in fascination. A crimson carpet covered the entire floor and at the center there were three sofas around a glass center table. Directly opposite the entrance was a steel bookshelf under which an electric fire crackled merrily. There was no visible door leading anywhere despite the size of the building and the lack of any other furniture perplexed Spade.
Spade was tempted to question the councilor about the strange building and even stranger rooms but he held his tongue remembering where he stood in the Alliance and where the man before him stood in the hierarchy.
The councilor slipped out of his laceless shoes and eased himself into one of the sofas. "Sit," he commanded and Spade quickly hurried forward, slipped out his boots, and sat.
"Tell me what you found out."
"The operative was right. Harry Potter exists and his trail ends at Beaumonde."
The councilor clicked a button on the remote lying on the table and a fully stocked bar table slid out of a section of the wall. The strangeness of the room was suddenly not so strange anymore. The councilor got up to make a drink. "Go on," he said briskly.
"We know he is a part of the rebel crew under the command of Malcolm Reynolds, the volunteer in the unification war, and we uncovered his illegal alias; Gregory Williams. As it turns out Harry Potter has been very busy. He made a trip to Sihnon with that alias and managed to infiltrate the Bellerophon prison facility shortly after which a prisoner escaped."
"Which prisoner?"
"Haymer's wife."
"Hmm. Potter is searching for his people."
"Haymer has no recollection of the incident in his warehouse and he believes that his wife is responsible for the theft of some jewels from his warehouse," Spade scoffed.
"Which means Harry Potter found Haymer's personal collection," the councilor said, upset. "I knew his obsession with collecting rare items would one day cause us a lot of trouble. What's more irritable is that Councilor Lark allows Haymer to act as he pleases."
"Reynolds captains a firefly class ship and it's likely that Potter is on it sir."
"Did you erase Potter's trail from our database?"
"Yes sir. The operatives will not be able to find him."
"We cannot let the parliament get their hands on Harry Potter. He must come to us and us alone."
"Sir, with all due respect, why do we need this wizard? Shouldn't we let the Blue Sun take him into their custody? They'll be delighted to have another specimen to experiment on."
"This wizard is special, Spade. It was because of this wizard that my ancestor chose to side against his own kind. I don't know what would have happened if Harry Potter had won the war in his time but his apparent death made my ancestor combat Voldemort by allowing the non magicals to experiment on him and others captured by him and create means to fight magic. Ever since that day, it has become the purpose of my family to keep Voldemort at bay."
"Why not just kill him?"
"What did I tell you about stupid questions, Spade? You know damn well we've tried. Haymer's creations were able to bring him to a state where we were able to eliminate his army and capture him but killing him has turned out to be impossible. And with the return of Harry Potter, he seems to be regaining his strength and the base is on high alert. It's only a matter of time before he has enough power to break free and that is why we need Harry Potter."
"Don't the other councilors want the same thing?"
"The others want to use Voldemort to take out the remnants of the Independents. We've already created a specialized army using his DNA. The capture of Harry Potter will most definitely aid the scientists but I have an obligation to protect him. Besides, the Brown Coats are gaining strength once more and the outbreak of another war is getting more and more likely. The Parliament is ready to deploy the military to nip this rebellion before it blossoms but that would only enrage the planets on the outer rim."
The councilor sighed and knocked back the whiskey he had poured in one go before pouring out some more. "This situation is too complicated to explain."
"So what do you want me to do?" Spade asked. "From everything I know about your work, Harry Potter would be a great asset. I find it strange you want to protect him."
Spade was at the receiving end of a withering glare. He cringed and looked away, unable to face those eyes.
"I want you to find Harry Potter and bring him to me and me alone. Do not let the military bully you. I'll make sure you have all the clearances you need to get to Potter without interference."
"And what if Potter resists?"
"Tell him my name and tell him I want to talk with him. If that fails, use weapon M420 and bring him in. It's only a matter of time before Lark decides to go after him and if he does Potter will become another lab rat in our basement. Now go."
Spade stood up and saluted. "Until next time councilor Snape."
Ebenezer Tobias Snape rubbed his forehead, feeling the onset of a headache. He pressed a portion on the leg of the table gently and removed the wand of Severus Snape from the hidden compartment that had just opened up. He twirled it between his fingers, deep in thought, with his eyes fixed on the merry dance of the flames in front of him.
"If Harry Potter does not yield to my command then I'm not going to keep my promise to you," he whispered.
