I hate Mary sues, but all the of the mcs in HON are that... so I am fixing that.

Throughout the next few weeks, Raith worked hard on his newly found access to magic. He practiced on the daily, focusing his powers in every way he could. Using the banishing spell Abi to blast aside rocks and trash in alleys. Using the Movere, or move, spell to levitate those same rocks to manage his focus. Starting Fires to stay warm since he was still homeless. Mover cor was another favorite, which he worked on to not need any kind of contact but that was no easy feat.

Time passed swiftly, soon an entire month passed and boy did he learn a lot.

Magic was no joke, it took life force to manage it. For that reason, he stayed away from rituals due to them connecting his life essence with higher tier powers. Deities, the Elements, other people, sacrifices. The idea was cool, but he refused to tap into such things until he was ready. That being said, there was one thing he wanted and planned on trying and that was a ward spell. It was something in between Rituals and Quick Draw magics so it felt appropriate. He would have preferred to cast it later, but he needed a safe place, so this was an exception he had to make.

On the first full moon after he tapped into his powers, he found an abandoned building and decided to make it home. Gathering ingredients for the spell via his Mover Cor spell, he hurried into the room and started painting symbols and sigils all over the walls using a mixture of wine and blood. His blood actually. He also painted symbols in a circle around him just outside a line of salt.

When the Moon was above him, he focused his power, combing through the air, breathing in the powerful magic that was present during every full moon. The veil was thinner, and that made his magic stronger, or so the book said.

He did this for a few minutes, until he felt energized and awake. Grabbing sage and and lavender and blood wart all woven together, he lit them with a match. Wafting them about, he felt their magic working through the air, dispelling all negative energy while also drawing in energy to amplify his magic.

'The spell is bound to earth, hence the salt... herbs come from the Earth, and so do all humans. I have to remember that.' Focusing with all he had, Raith placed the herbs in a small bowl he prepped for that purpose. "I know I am no Vampyre but I hope you will all head my call, elements. I made the prayer part myself, to invoke you more personally." Closing his eyes, he turned to the east. "Air, source of our first and last breathe, you are our last impact on this mortal plane and so you should be summoned first. Come to this circle and bless it with your power." He turned south. "Fire, you warm us in countless ways, fueling food and fires and the life within our flesh. I beseech you, come to my circle." Turning West, he thought of the Sea he once lived by. "You nourish our bodies and soothe the blistering heat. Water, Come to this circle please." Turning to the North, he stood strong, imagining he was a tree. "Earth, mother of all things, I call to you and ask you grant me your strength." Finally he stepped into the center. "Spirit, frankly you are the element I think I am innately closer to. Mind and Matter made manifest. My heart, individuality and sense of self. I ask you, my sweet, to come to this circle and help me protect my home."

The air shifted then, subtly, but noticeably. A listening presence filling the air, like eyes were on him but without malice. It felt almost playful... and he loved it. Tears fell down his face and he knew, just knew, he had been heard.

"Thank you... okay, I have a spell, it is a rhyming spell to invoke the muse... but I hope you like it. I love poetry." Breathing in the smoke now charged with power, he noticed a shimmery heat like energy around him, in a perfect circle. It was faint but ever present, and he knew that more than just Spirit had come to him. Breathing in one more time, masking his tears, he focused and cast his new spell.

Elemental forces, heed my call. Like guarding arms, raise a wall.

No violence seen or heard, not a whisper, not a word.

Filled with Love and light, keeping me warm and safety in sight.

A sacrifice I give, to honor your power.

Bless this place within this very hour!

The heat wave like energy wafted away from him as he finished his spell, shimmering as it crashed like waves into the walls. As it crawled up the walls, the sigils all burned a bright red, infused with power. A sense of safety and peace filled the air around him, and he knew he was successful.

"Yes, thank you!" He jumped in excitement... before falling to his knees, eyes blurring and head aching. "That took so much power... ugh..." He swiftly dismissed the elements while on his knees. Crawling out of his sacred circle he found his bag and opened it up. Grabbing a granola bar and a general relief potions ( The first he had ever made actually) he downed them before looking at his home, happy that finally some peace came to him.

Finally, something worked out...

"Okay. I need to be stronger to cast rituals... but that was a great experience... I feel so much closer to my dreams." He would sleep so easily that day ( Having switched to a night schedule). 'I wonder who I will be in the next year, or more... I cannot wait to see.'
