Skye yawned as she woke up. She had a good night's rest and was ready for the day.
She bounced up and yipped in excitement for what the day was going to bring.
She was one of the first up. Besides her and Chase the only other one who was awake was Rocky. He was working on something, but Skye couldn't see what it was.
A soft yawn made the young Cockapoo pup to turn her attention towards Everest who was just waking up along with Ryder somehow at the same time.
When Ryder saw his pups up he said, "Good morning pups!"
"Good morning, Ryder!" The pups barked.
The sudden loudness of their barks in unison woke up Marshall who was wearing a sleeping mask on his face. It was red.
"Wha-? Is it morning? I can't see! It's too dark!" Marshall yipped as he tripped on top of Zuma.
The sudden contact woke up the chill dude.
"What's going on?" The chocolate lab questioned, sounding super tired.
An eye was peeked open to see Marshall on top of him.
He grunted and closed the eye.
"Oh it's just you dude."
He then nestled back into a calm peaceful slumber.
Ryder and the rest of the pups laughed a bit.
"Whoops." Marshall whispered.
"Hey, you pups want to have your breakfast and let the rest of them sleep in?" Ryder asked before Rubble's eyes widened big, and he woke up with an excited look on his face.
Man, Rubble sure does love food. Skye noted as she laughed as he started running cowards, slipping on his sleeping bag a bit.
"Did I hear breakfast?" Rubble asked in excitement, his tail going real fast.
Ryder chuckled. "You heard me right, Rubble. Wanna come?"
"Don't have to ask me! Food!!" Rubble cheered, earning a groan from a sleepy Zuma.
"Shush." Zuma whined as he pressed his paws over his ears.
Rubble stepped on Zuma. His reaction was priceless. His head jerked up and he helped with pain.
Zuma sighed in exasperation. "I suppose I'll come too, Wyder." He barked.
The only one who was asleep now was Tracker. He was curled up in a ball, his Jose tucked under his tail. He was snoring softly.
"Come on, pups. Let's not disturb Tracker and Rex." Ryder commented. Rex was snoring in a sleeping bag right next to Tracker.
"Oh, and yet you intewwupted me?" Zuma questioned before they all laughed.
"I'm kidding. I'd wathew be awake than asleep missing out on moments with you dudes." Zuma woofed passionately.
They all nodded in agreement.
Skye found herself nodding excruciatingly harder than the other pups. And faster too.
"I'd rather be awake and eating that kibble that's calling my name." Rubble barked, licking his muzzle with anticipation. "Yum!"
"Right, I'll go get your breakfast pups. I hope you guys had a great time with Jake, Everest, and Tracker. We will be going back to the Lookout today. Be sure you gather all your belongings and once we've said goodbye to Jake and Everest we will be going to bring Tracker and Rex back to their homes and then we will be sleeping in our own beds tonight." Ryder informed them.
Ryder then turned around to go grab their breakfast.
On the way Jake stopped him.
"I got their breakfast, Ryder." Jake said, handing over a big bag of food.
Ryder grabbed the bag of kibble and thanked Jake quickly before turning around and began to pour kibble into everyone's food bowls.
Skye yipped. This was her favorite kind of kibble. She'll be enjoying it, that's for sure.
Ryder poured some food into Rocky's bowl first.
Rubble didn't seem upset, but he was eyeing Rocky's portion of their breakfast. His lip quivered in anticipation. He seemed to look forward to breakfast like this every day, but how much he quivered and wagged his tail was exceptionally much for Skye, even if it was her favorite kibble Ryder was pouring.
"Oohh, pouring mine next. Pour mine next." Rubble whispered in excitement.
He acted like he wouldn't get food.
Ryder moved on to Chase who howled in delight. "Thank you, Ryder!" He barked, without calling him sir. He usually only did that during missions or when he needed to call him sir.
Ryder always tells him not to call him sir, but Chase likes to call him sir as a way of showing his appreciation towards him for helping them figure out how to deal with certain problems and because he gave them all homes when no one else would take them.
Chase's tail was going fast.
"You're welcome, Chase. Now I heard somebody wants their breakfast? Now who could that be?" Ryder remarked, putting a hand on his chin. He was rubbing it like it was a trick question.
Rubble bounced up and down in excitement. "Me! Me! I do! I do!" He barked loudly.
Ryder chuckled and the pups all laughed.
Ryder slowly poured Rubble's kibble. Rubble gripped his lip within his teeth, breaking some of it as the kibble fell into his bowl at a slow pace.
He made a grunting sound. He didn't want to wait.
Finally--it seemed--Ryder was done and moved on to Zuma who just smiled at Ryder as he approached.
Skye was right next to him.
She would be getting her food next.
Beside her, Everest was happily chatting away with Marshall who was talking about their plans once Rex and Tracker woke up and had their fill.
"Thank you Wyder, dude!" Zuma thanked, digging in slowly, and calmly.
Ryder patted Zuma's head as he went towards Skye.
Sky yipped as he approached. "My favorite kibble!" She remarked.
"Yep." Ryder confirmed as he poured the kibble. "Hope you enjoy, Skye."
Skye giggled.
"I will!" She barked.
Ryder stopped pouring hers and went to Everest who was still chatting with Marshall. She was too busy talking with him to notice the sound of kibble being poured into the bowl.
She must really be enjoying her conversation with Marshall. She noted as she waited.
She didn't want to eat without everyone eating with her. She was a very patient pup.
Ryder poured food into Marshall's bowl.
Marshall's ears twitched. He then sighed.
"Oh! Food's here, Everest! Dig in!" He encouraged with a smile.
Everest giggled. "I will, Marshall! Hey Skye, are you going to eat your breakfast too?" Everest asked, gazing at Skye with a sisterly concerned look.
"I will. Are Tracker and Rex up yet?" She wondered.
"Yeah, we're up." Breathed a familiar, yet tired voice from behind. It was Rex.
"Sorry we slept in. I was finding it hard to sleep last night." Rex admitted.
"Oh no. Did you get enough sleep?" Ryder asked.
Rex rubbed his eyes with a paw.
"I think. It's hard to tell." Rex admitted, wheeling himself over. "Anyways, can we have our breakfast too, Ryder?" He asked.
"I don't see why not." Ryder chuckled as he fetched the two remaining bowls.
He poured the kibble into Rex's bowl. Rex was still rubbing his eyes a lot.
How little of sleep did he truly get? Skye wondered with worry. He seems to be struggling to stay awake.
"Are you feeling okay, Rex?" Rocky asked, catching on to Skye's worry.
Rex jumped, his wheelchair slipping behind him. He ended up banging his head.
He howled as his front half went above his wheelchair in midair.
He screeched slightly in pain upon landing on his head. He then rubbed the top of his head.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Just waking up still." He assured, a frown on his face instead of the usual smile.
He rubbed his head a little more before noticing the kibble.
"Sweet! Food!" He barked, digging in immediately, his frown disappeared to be replaced with a huge smile.
He gobbled down his food faster than even Rubble, who seemed to be taking his sweet time for whatever odd reason. He loved eating the food right away right before asking others if he could have some of theirs.
It was a surprise he hadn't gained any weight from eating all that food.
Skye still hadn't started eating her food.
By then Ryder poured all their food.
Better get to eating. Don't need anyone stealing my food. Skye thought with a silent laugh, gazing fondly towards Rubble who had eaten about three fourths of his food.
He was really eating slowly, and seemingly pondering something.
Skye wondered what was on his mind as she quickly eaten half of her kibble without realizing it.
She didn't even know how hungry she was until she began to chow.
She had a happy expression on her face.
She didn't notice the affectionate gazes she was getting from Chase and Rocky.
She finished hers up within one minute. Rubble was still slowly somehow chewing the bite he had before she had finished.
As soon as she finished, Rubble immediately bounced over to her and poured the remainder of his kibble into her bowl.
Skye was shocked.
"For you!" He woofed shyly before running over to Rocky.
"Hey can I have the rest of yours, Rocky?" He then asked in a whisper.
Skye could still hear him.
Why'd he do that then immediately asked Rocky if he was going to finish his?
Skye just didn't get it. She didn't understand.
