Obi's always been the type to be on guard, to know his surroundings, to practice situational awareness even in almost secretive ways, to keep himself safe. But around Shirayuki, even that awareness feels like it's slipping.
It's easy to get caught up in the moment, to forget his surroundings. Not that he doesn't notice a threat, if one were to come, he'd squash it. But he gets caught up in green eyes, the shade of spring, in a smile that is both warm and inviting, and sometimes in a gentle touch, a hand in his, his hand on her wrist.
It's odd how surreal it gets.
"I feel at home with you." And somehow that makes him feel happier than he's ever felt, even without the words for it.
"You shouldn't." He says instead of the thank you that he feels, but for a moment he just takes a deep breath and despite everything in him screaming not to, he tries to enjoy this moment, to savor it, so that he may truly remember it.
"Obi..." And there's something in her voice akin to a scolding, and he almost laughs. He's changed. She's changed him. (And to be honest, so have Zen and the others.)
He just smiles at her, lets it be playful, and maybe she won't see his heart underneath, scarred, battered, and bruised.
