My beloved neurosurgeon
It's still late at night or early in the morning, Yae actually doesn't care about it, when a light chilly air colliding against her bare back wakes her up from her peaceful slumber rudely, yet luckily not enough.
The pink haired woman can only grumble grudgingly, snuggling closer to the body next to her, only to find the spot her girlfriend usually takes up empty but still warm.
Reluctantly, Yae peeps an eye open to see the door of their bedroom and that could be the possible responsible one of the chilly cold she feels, a couple of millimeters open and grunts loudly, stealing Sara's spot in revenge to keep herself warm and bury more into the blankets until Sara comes back from probably have gone to get some water before she finds her like that.
With the satisfaction of picturing her girlfriend coming back to find the pink haired woman stealing her spot in bed and not leaving her other option than laying down behind her to spoon her and keep her warm, Yae quickly falls asleep with a content smile on her face.
But to her dismay, that never ends up happening, and she finds herself waking up alone in bed a couple of hours later, with the rude cold sipping more into their bedroom and into her bare body.
Opening her eyes slowly and letting them adjust to the brightness filtering in their room, Yae searches for her girlfriend, only to find her nowhere to be seen, sighing as she takes a look at the clock on Sara's nightstand.
So with a shaky sigh, she wraps her robe around her frame tightly and decides to venture through their house in search of her stubborn girlfriend, shivering out of cold on her way, before she hears a loud grumble and the sound of papers being thrown away coming from the floor downstairs.
A sad smile takes over the pink haired woman's features as she goes downstairs with light steps not wanting to disturb Sara, seeing her in the distance with her laptop resting on her lap as the small table in the middle of the living room seems to be a sea full of papers scattered all over its surface. Soon enough, she sees the dark purple haired woman throwing her head backwards to rest it on the couch while exhaling deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Yae can't help but stop for a brief moment at the bottom of the stairs to observe her, watching Sara gazing up at the ceiling for a short period of time, blinking, before she closes her eyes and rubs her temples, probably product of the weariness of long late hours awake trying to come out with a solution to some of her most complicated diagnoses, or also of an upcoming headache.
The pink haired woman grimaces at this, loving how hard working and how soft her intelligent neurosurgeon girlfriend can be always trying to save everybody's lives with the best and less invasive methods.
So with featherlight steps, Yae walks closer and takes her girlfriend's head in her hands, rubbing her temples for her to shoo away the upcoming headache while leaning down to leave a kiss on her forehead, then her closed eyelids and nose, seeing Sara smiling softly, before soon tired golden eyes meet hers and she finds her girlfriend giving her an apologetic smile.
- Did you get any sleep?
Yae asks in vain knowing full well how Sara barely get any sleep since the first time she woke up alone and feeling cold, the gears in her pretty girlfriend's head running too loud and fast at 3 AM trying to come out with the best solutions, something Yae truly admires and loves from her, yet also frustrates her to no end.
- Not much.
Sara admits quietly, letting out a long heavy sigh that makes her girlfriend's heart ache.
So Yae can only leave another kiss on her pretty girlfriend's head to then walk around the couch and carefully take the laptop off the doctor's legs and place it on a small empty spot on the table.
- Sorry.
She hears Sara apologizing softly, making her shake her head, before she sits next to her and obliges her to lie her head down on her lap, combing her fingers through her short dark purple hair.
- You know I love and admire how hard you try to help and save your patients, but you also need to rest, my love.
Sara can only sigh as she gets comfortable on her girlfriend's lap, turning around to bury her head into Yae's stomach showing how vulnerable she can also be.
- Thank you for understanding it.
She thanks her girlfriend softly, taking one of Yae's hands in hers to interlace their fingers, before she takes their hands up to kiss them, eliciting a smile from the pink haired woman as her heart flutters upon such a simple but sweet gesture.
- Now get some rest, my beloved neurosurgeon.
Yae commands her softly, seeing Sara smiling cutely at her as she kisses their interlaced fingers once again and closes her eyes to quickly fall asleep lulled by Yae's free hand combing her hair.
The pink haired woman can only smile tenderly at her, covering them with a blanket as the sun keeps getting out of its hiding place to sneak slightly and slowly through the living room's curtains while Yae watches over her girlfriend's dreams, making sure she has a comforting sleep, before she wakes up to try and find the best solution to save her precious patients' lives.
