Story #11
"Mind your Godfather, Draco." Lucius tone brooked no argument.
"Yes, father." Draco responded.
"Eat your vegetables." Narcissa told her son.
"Do I have to?" Draco whined.
"Mind your mother, Draco and do stop whining, it's very unbecoming of a Malfoy." Lucius admonished.
"Yes, father." Draco sighed.
"Are you sure of this, Severus?" Lucius asked his long time friend.
"I am. Everything will be fine, Lucius." Severus assured Lucius. "Enjoy your time away."
"Very well, shall we my dear?" Lucius held his arm out for his wife.
"Of course. Thank you, Severus." Narcissa said as she laid her hand on Lucius' arm.
"Anytime, Narcissa." Severus gave a small smile.
As the couple left to start their trip, Draco bounced on the ball of his feet. "What are going to do, Godfather?"
Severus eyed his godson and sighed, "Where is your trunk? Surely you don't mean to wear the same outfit day in and day out."
"Of course not!" Draco stuttered as he ran up the stairs to grab his trunk so he could leave with Severus.
"First we will get you settled in and then we shall see." Severus told Draco as he gently took his elbow for a side along apparation.
After a month of his stay, Severus couldn't understand Narcissa's parting comment. Draco had eaten every vegetable Severus had served him, well, all but corn. For some reason his godson refused to eat the yellow vegetable.
As they finished off another meal, Severus decided to ask.
"Why do not like corn, Draco?"
"It's yellow." Draco answered.
"That's the only reason?" Severus raised a brow.
"Yeah." Draco shrugged.
"You do realize you eat other yellow vegetables and fruits, do you not?" Severus smirked.
"So?" Draco sulked.
"Now you're acting like a baby, grow up Draco." Severus scolded and almost laughed at the offended look his godson had.
"I am not! I just don't like it." Draco huffed.
"Very well, I shall not serve it again." Severus conceded. At least the wizard would eat most other vegetables.
"Thank you, Godfather." Draco's relief was tangible.
Severus gave a small nod, "Now, are you ready for school?"
"Of course, I shall think a Malfoy is always ready." Draco answered.
Severus scoffed as he guided his godson to the living area, "Then let us test such readiness."
"But I thought I wouldn't get tested until closer to school starting." Draco whined.
"If you insist on whining, I will force feed you corn, Draco." Severus warned and then almost chuckled when his godson promptly clamped his mouth shut.
