Story #12
The last thing Bellatrix remembered was being hit by multiple spells during the Dark Lord's last stand. She had been battling Molly Weasley when the matriarch defended her daughter. She thought she had died. Apparently that wasn't the case, so…where in Hades was she? As Bella took in her surroundings, she noticed she was in a clearing surrounded by trees with a stone ring with strange markings on it in the center. It was nothing she had seen before and wondered what its purpose was.
Just as Bella started to approach the strange structure, the symbols started glowing before a loud whoosh was made and what looked like water filled the center. Staying perfectly still, Bella watched as a man stepped through the watery surface before disappearing. Unsure what to think, Bella decided to follow the strangely dressed man; maybe he could lead her to answers.
Daniel Jackson was a very happy man. General Hammond had given him permission to return to P3X-847 to look over the ruins there. From the brief time he had been allowed to study the writings, he was fairly sure they would hold important information about the goa'uld. When Walter had dialed the gate, Daniel had barely stood still and then all but ran up the ramp to step through. Once on the other side, he took a deep breath and had a bounce in his step as he started his journey to the ruined structures.
Half way to his destination, Daniel noticed someone following him. He thought about confronting the person, a woman he believed, but decided to wait until he reached the ruins. Once there, he paused with his back to his mysterious follower for a few moments trying to remember if there had been any humans on the planet when they visited last. Realizing there had been no life forms, Daniel slowly turned around; his hand on his sidearm just in case.
"Excuse me but why are you following me?" Daniel asked the startled woman. She was dressed strangely, in what seemed robes but very nice ones even if they were singed.
"Who are you?" Bella countered.
"Sorry, I'm Daniel Jackson, you are?" Daniel answered.
"Bellatrix Lestrange." Bella answered, wondering if her name would ring a bell for the man who she thought was a muggle by his strange clothes. It seemed he was American as well, interesting.
"Pleasure to meet you, why are you here? Do you live near by?" Daniel asked.
"I do not know where here is and no, I do not think my home is nearby." Bella answered.
Daniel studied the woman a moment, she was English but why was she here? What brought her here? Was there another Stargate somewhere yet to be found? It wouldn't be the first time a government had hidden a Stargate for their own purposes.
"Do you know how you got here?' Daniel prodded.
"No." Bella stated. She thought of grilling Daniel but was too confused to really think of anything to ask, too many questions whirling in her mind. So she decided on, "Where is here, exactly?"
"This would be P3X-847." Daniel told her.
"What kind of name is that?" Bella demanded.
"It's how the military names the worlds we visit. What do you prefer?" Daniel explained.
"Something other than that that seems silly." Bella snorted before getting herself under control. He said military, which would mean he was definitely muggle. She normally wouldn't have a problem casting magic on a muggle but since she had no clue where she was, she would need to restrain her normal impulses.
"It works." Daniel shrugged. "Do you wish for me to escort you back through the 'gate or would you mind waiting while I survey these ruins?"
Bella gave it some thought, she wouldn't mind being in his company a bit longer and she could use the time to learn what was going on. She may not be the most stable witch; she knew that, it didn't mean she couldn't survey a situation to use to her advantage. For the next several hours, Bella followed Daniel, asking questions and absorbing all he shared. It boggled her mind when she learned muggles had come so far. Most purebloods had no clue just how far muggles had come; it didn't mean she thought much higher of the beings but it did help to enlighten her that their information was very much out of date.
When the time came to go back, Bella had to admit she was frightened. She knew she shouldn't be; Daniel had shared that many muggles used this mode of transportation often, she still didn't trust it. When he walked up to her and laid his hand on her lower back, Bella wasn't sure how to react. In her world, that was a bit too friendly for an unknown person to do, however, she wasn't in her world so allowed the contact. She admitted, to herself, that his presence was soothing for her.
When they stepped through the portal, Bella was amazed at the room they walked in to. It was huge and had armed guards with a large window looking down from above. When a large side door slid open, Bella was impressed; muggles had definitely come a long way.
As she quietly stood by Daniel's side, she noticed an older man with more guards enter the room.
"Who's your girlfriend?" Jack's curiosity was brimming.
"Um, she's not my girlfriend, Jack. This is Bellatrix Lestrange. Bella, this Colonel Jack O'Neill." Daniel introduced.
"Howdy ma'am." Jack greeted.
"Hello" Bella returned.
"Well, you know the drill, Daniel. She'll need to be check over by 'ol doc Frasier." Jack instructed as he continued to look Bella over.
"Of course, Jack. This way Bella." Daniel agreed and saw her confusion, he clarified. "Doctor Frasier checks anyone over who has been off world."
"I see. Please lead the way, then." Bella laid her hand on Daniel's proffered arm as he led her to the infirmary.
