Story #13

Pansy sighed when she was told her turn had come up to spend time at the SGC. It really annoyed her that no one would tell her what it stood for. The only response she would get was she would learn when she got there, that the facility was top secret, yadda, yadda.

She had been excited when Kingsley had announced the program. A few magicals would go to the muggle place while a few muggles would come to the magical world. It was supposed to boost inter-agency something or other. Then she had had to wait, ugh! Patience was NOT one of her virtues.

So after three months of waiting, it was her turn. She would spend a month working alongside specific muggles and learning their ways. Pansy hoped her person was interesting.

Then there was a knock on her door a few minutes later.

"Ma'am, I'm here to escort you to the conference room." A soldier instructed.

"Very well." Pansy schooled her face, inside she was a bundle of nerves but her upbringing would never allow her to show it.

Pansy got her first experience in a muggle elevator a few moments later. When she stepped off, she sighed in relief, at least they weren't like the ones in the Ministry…those were horrid.

After introductions were made, pairing began. Pansy was paired with Colonel Jack O'Neill. She hoped they got along.

It amazed Pansy how much Jack knew. He taught her muggle fighting moves, claiming she could never be too prepared and shared his love of astronomy. Fortunately, Astronomy had been one of the classes Pansy had enjoyed in school.

Learning that Pansy knew little about the muggle world and next to no slang, Jack became determined to teach the young witch. It wasn't that the magicals had no slang; it was just their slang wasn't as confusing or fun as American's.

By the time Pansy had to return, Jack was pleased with her. He had helped her with commanding a group, self-defense and some new slang to use. As they rode the elevator to her floor, Jack quizzed her on her slang and Americanisms.

"That's not bad, Pansy. What else you got?" Jack smiled.

Pansy thought a moment, "Oh, Theo is my main squeeze."

"Is he now?" Jack prodded.

"Yes! He's the jam in my jelly roll!" Pansy smiled at learning so much muggle slang.

"Something like that, yeah." Jack grinned, at least she was trying.

When they reached her door, Jack paused a moment.

"It's truly been a pleasure, Miss Parkinson." Jack told her. He had had fun with Pansy and she had listened to instruction well.

"It has, Colonel O'Neill." Pansy returned before she did something very un-Pansy-like and gave Jack a hug. No one had treated her the way he had and she appreciated it very much. When Jack returned her hug, it made Pansy feel really good.

"Until next time." Jack gave her a salute just before her portkey activated and she disappeared.
