Chapter 9
Hello Guys I'm really late but I have a lot of work lately plus a little author's block I'm doing everything I can to release the most chapters.
A few things : first I'm giving you guys 3 chapters to continue the reactions (10 more and I will post a chapter every day or every 2 days)
So this chapter is going to be particular : I'm going to switch between timelines. I'll let you guys know when we are in the Gaang's timeline (this one will be the least important) and when we are in Aang's timeline.
Don't forget I'm French and I never learned English apart from at school so if I make mistakes please tell me and with compassion not hate would be good :)
If you still haven't understood that this fiction is mine but not the universe it is in I can't do anything for you.
I forgot to tell you we are starting this Chapter a few months before Aang's teleportation in the future and in Korra's timeline
An old lady entered the living room after talking to her oldest son. There were a lot of people waiting for them to come back. The old lady said that she had an announcement to make and everyone was excited.
When they came back no one saw the look of death in the son's eyes and no one saw past the excitement they all had.
A young woman advanced herself and asked "So, Katara, what is this announcement you had to make ? And why telling it to Bumi first ? What was so important ?"
As usual the young woman was blinded by her excitement and she didn't saw the tears that were starting to flow silently and slowly in the son's eyes.
Her girlfriend seemed to sense that something wasn't adding up, that something was odd, so she decided to interrupt the younger woman excitement "Korra, don't you think Master Katara, I mean Katara" despite the fact that the old waterbender told the young girl a lot of times to not call her 'Master' because she practically part of the family now, the young inventor had still a lot of trouble to not call the old and wise lady by her honorary title "don't want to talk about it ?"
The younger girl immediately replied "What are you talking about Asami ? Since it's good news she'll want to talk about it, isn't that right master ?" Korra still called her old master by her honorary title but it was like a pet name for her and it was because she didn't saw herself calling her older master anything else if not grandma. She decided anyway to call her master because she thought it was the most logical way to call her friend and mentor.
Katara took a deep breath and finally said "I think Aang would have found that pretty funny"
Everyone looked at her like she was crazy, no one understood what she said.
Katara continued anyway "I seems that the fortune teller wasn't right about everything" she said while giggling
"Or maybe not" she said continuing her giggles "Jinora are you pregnant with triplets ?"
Jinora blushed and responded "what ? No of course not"
Katara laughed louder this time "don't worry my dear I know you're not it was for the joke. You see when I was younger I went to a fortune-teller who told me that I will meet my third great grandchild before passing away" suddenly she took a more serious tone "I suppose it won't be happening"
A mid aged woman decided to say "what are you telling us mom ? Do you think you'll pass away ? Like die ? Seriously you are maybe not as young as all of us but it really does seems like it"
Katara responded "Thanks Kya, you were always the one with kindest words. But the truth is that I'm not eternal and I'm sensing my body step by step advancing towards the end."
2 minutes passed and everyone told Katara that they were sorry they told her that they would accompany her in her journey and she told them that she was going to be reunited with Aang everyone was sad and cried but they were happy also : happy that she was going to be reunited with the one she loved, happy that she will finally have a right to peace, happy that she finally "reached the end of she could teach them" as she loved to say.
Everyone had his opinion and had said something except for Korra who was standing there staring into nothingness she was unable to move or to think for that matter. She was too shocked about what she just heard.
But she was pulled out of her trance by the love of her life, her girlfriend Asami "Hey Korra what are you alright ?" she asked with a gentle and sweet tongue that characterized her.
Korra suddenly said "No I'm not" outloud and nearly screaming "Like hell I'm not letting you die" she said looking ferm as always
Before anyone could say anything Katara asked " can you please leave us alone ?" she asked to everyone
They all agreed it was more intelligent to let them talk together
"I said what I had to say I'm not letting you die" Korra said in a firm tone
"You now. Even you can't beat death" Katara responded amused
"I'll beat her if I have to. I said that I won't let you die and I meant it, there is no way that I am letting something taking you away" Korra said
"You know now that we are together Korra can you tell me really why you don't want to let me die ?" Katara asked "and please spare me the idea that you don't want another defeat. I don't want you to act tough, I want you to be honest." Katara said
Korra sighed and finally admitted "I don't want to lose you" she said with sadness in her voice "I failed so much but you were always here for me without judgment. Spirits you were even more honest with me than my own father for a time." Korra stopped suddenly, not wanting to open more. It was hard for her to open herself to anyone, even Asami had some hard times.
"Korra, please continue. Tell what's on your heart, don't close yourself. It's not like I'll tell it to anyone. I promise that I will take it to my tomb and literally" she said giggling
Korra sighed and continued "I'm not seeing my life without you in it Katara, you were like a second mother to me you were always with me training me on so many things."
"You are fully trained Korra now you don't need me anymore."
"It's not true I need you I'm not finished learning things with you and I'm certainly not finished having you for second mother please let me help you find a cure to whatever sickness you have I'm begging you"
"Korra I love you, I love you so much, I'm not sure which avatar I'm talking to : the airbender that I was the love of my life, with whom I spent most of my time until his death. Or the waterbender that I trained and that became a friend and a second daughter to me, the waterbender who accompanied me on the grave of my husband for the first time and held my hand as I was crying for the first time in years.
In either case I love Korra but I loved Aang and I loved him so much that now it's time to go back to him. My time in this world has passed but he is waiting for me. I know it. Korra I love you like a daughter but I am dying and it's a fact that even you can't deny. You have for both our sakes for the time that I have left to accept that fact. I will die in peace knowing that I haven't left this world too soon and that I can finally enjoy my eternal rest along with my husband, and you have to accept it so you can prepare your life without me, so you can prepare for grief.
But remember that I don't ask you not to mourn me. I know that I can't ask you that but I ask you to please celebrate my memory first."
A/N and that's the end of timeline 1 moving on to timeline 2 with the Gaang
Katara and Zuko were behind a wall that was created by Toph and suddenly Zuko said "what was your brother's plan again ? To stay here like idiots waiting for them to be killed ?"
Katara, a little upset, responded "You know that Sokka's plans are always more complex now let's try to execute his plan, do you remember what you have to do ?"
"Yes I attack the spirit from a distance our role is to maintain a distance cover when Suki and Sokka try to attack the spirit" he responded
"Great and why do we do all this ? And what's Toph's role in this ?" She asked him to make sure that he understood the plan in its entirety
Zuko sighed "I was there too you know when Sokka talk to all of us"
Katara responded "Yes but you were too busy thinking about how you will tell us that you are going to marry Ty Lee"
"Wait, how do you know that ? Did Ty Lee told you ? I thought we agreed to wait until after Aang was better."
"Of course she told me, not directly to be honest, but you are going to marry her you know better than me how she is, she cannot keep things for her and you can't keep her from telling her friends you know it better than I do" Katara responded while giggling
Ty Lee and Katara had grown to appreciate each other and even become friends. Of course Katara didn't liked at first her couple with Zuko, she was still a little afraid that Ty Lee could hurt Zuko or even worse Aang. But with time Ty Lee became a good friend, and a more simple friend than Toph who had to always fight and especially with Katara. But Ty Lee and Toph had grown to become lifelong friends with Katara.
"You won't get away telling me Sokka's plan, you know that right ?" Katara asked
Zuko sighed "Fine Toph is our secret weapon she will come to capture the spirit attacking us so that he can respond to our questions about Aang"
The Gang saw the young airbender being taken away they wanted answers now to what happened to their friend and how could they rejoin him
The plan took place exactly like it was supposed to. The gang took a young daitengu with a short nose sign of the fact that he was not very experimented in combat or martial arts they got the information about the fact that Aang was in the future they forced the daitengu to tell them everything and he revealed the part of the plan that he was aware of : attacking the avatar and his friends, taking away the avatar in the future to break him and finally a swarm attack on the friends of the avatar to kill them all so that they cannot try something with Shiva's replacement.
A/N here is the end of the Gaang's timeline we are now doing a quick stop in the spirit world just after the fight with the Gaang's (spirit world = no timeline)
Sōjōbō went back to the spirit world just after the fight he had with the friends of the avatar unaware that one of his daitengu was captured and prisoner of those friends and that he was talking about the plan right now.
The chief of the tengus went back to his master proud of himself and said "Master it is done the avatar is in the future and his friends will be dead in no time" he bowed when the powerful King of the Diyu turned to face him
"Really ?" he asked
"You are sure that they are going to die ?"
"I am sure of it" said the master of the wind
"Do you know, my friend, what is the Diyu ?"
"It is the place where the dead come after their death, from what I know, why ?" Sōjōbō asked confused
"You see here is your biggest mistake : you don't understand the forces you are playing with. The Diyu is not only the place where the dead come but it is also the place where I thrive, where I judge and finally the place where death can be the end or another life as a spirit." Yan Wang responded
"Why are you telling me about this master ?"
"So that you can understand that you are playing with something too powerful for you to reach. You see, you had one job to do and you failed, and I want you to know why you will be dead completely once I kill you" Yan Wang stated coldly
"But master I did everything you asked me I…"
Before he could continue Sōjōbō was interrupted by Yan Wang "You see what I am doing here is unnatural Yu-Huang himself would create a killer for me if he discovered that I am about to unleash the destroyer, the merger of universes. I am about to liberate GongGong the one and only who can stop our chief, the one and only who was locked away for thousands of years is going to return now and kill Yu-Huang, merge the universes and destroy instead of creating. I have seen enough horrors since the great and powerful separator put me in charge of this Diyu and I am convinced that GongGong can establish a path where people like the ones I see will not leave at all.
And you see my plan was perfect, every inch of it was perfectly planned and your failure today is unacceptable."
"But master…"
Once again Yan Wan interrupted the younger spirit "You see I have a problem I cannot kill you the tengus will not follow me after that, but I cannot let you live with this failure, if I kill you there is going to be a leak someone will talk. Unless…"
"Unless what master please tell me I would do anything to please you" Sōjōbō asked panicked
"Unless I kill you all" and with that he turned to them and launched an attack on every tengu present and no one was able to resist except Sōjōbō but the latest was merely strong enough to resist the first attack and Yan Wan had much more power in his hand so he decided not to play with Sōjōbō to make him feel his failure instead he decided to execute him in a matter of two seconds.
In 10 seconds he killed 9 999 tengus; what he was unaware of was the daitengu who was captured by the Gaang; all that he knew was that they were alive.
Yan Wan's plan was in route now it needed one last thing : an official punishment for Shiva to block the Avatar in the future.
A/N here is the end of the spirit's timeline back into Korra's shortly and this time it is after Katara's death. When Aang arrived
It was just 1 week ago that the young watertribe girl had to bury her master, her second mother. She never had the force to go see the grave after the funeral but this time it is like something called her and forced to go see her former master. She decided to go with her girlfriend. Once she arrived she mulled over memories with her former master she remembered how she was absent every year on her birthday and she never understood why until now : her birthday was for her former master a day of great loss : she was born the day the previous avatar her husband was dead.
Once they arrived at the cemetery Asami decided to say "Korra I think it's better if you go alone she was your master. I've known her for a short time. I think you need your time alone to grief. I'm right here if you need me" as always Asami was really understanding
"Thank you Asami" Korra responded "You're the best"
Normally her girlfriend would have said something to emphasize this point but she knew it wasn't the right timing for Korra
Korra entered alone and went in the direction of the grave.
Once she arrived at the grave she stopped right then and there it wasn't fear that made her stop but surprise : she was seeing a young tattooed airbender male and she knew no young man that was tattooed. She decided to approach and she saw him and it was at this precise moment that she understood why, why she had to come on this day precisely : something had gone wrong, something had gone terribly wrong : Avatar Aang, now dead for almost 23 years, was here alive and an 18 year old boy. What was she going to do now, how can she tell that to Asami and most importantly how can she tell that to his childrens that just lost their mother.
A/N Here is chapter 9. So we have 1 more new character to introduce and I will be done with new characters. The introduction of GongGong was important because he is going to play a very important role in the future.
