Meanwhile, when Ruth's new car, Cleo, takes to the rails to race Thomas, she soon discovers why she is designed to stick to the roads. With all the commotion surrounding the newly built road engine, David requests taking Cleo out for a test himself to see if she suits his needs.

Gordon's boasting comes to a sudden halt at the opening of a new station, but he has a nice surprise when he returns to the station after coming back from the Works.
