Ron didn't hate me. That was good. I talked to him more. Also good. These were the thoughts running through my head Friday morning next week. I looked at the schedule. Magically, a new class had appeared on my 4th period 2:00-3:15 pm slot. As it was cursive, I struggled to read it. Finally, I made out the word: flying. And next to it: S/G. I dreaded flying that whole day. Voices in my head followed me around. "Wassup Zombie dude!" I heard Leo's Voice. "You owe me at least 3 days in the infirmary, starting now." Said Will's voice. "Bianca sacrificed herself to save us all. She was a hero." A voice that was familiar but alien at the same time spoke pleadingly.
Suddenly I fell into a memory. I was standing outside a big blue beach house. I opened the door and walked inside to find a boy. Percy! Just seeing him made my stomach flutter. Like his dream, it was like he was viewing the scene rather than living it. "Hey, Percy! Where's my sister?" I asked cheerily. "I think we should take a walk," he said, dread etched onto his face. He was silent as they walked. "She's gone. We were in a junkyard and she took something. She awoke a giant automaton. I spotted a maintenance hatch and started for it but she beat me to it. She got inside it and controlled it. Then Grover made the electric poles move, and it wobbled into them. It tried to run, but it crumbled. We couldn't find her. If she hadn't sacrificed herself, we all would have died. Bianca sacrificed herself to save us all. She was a hero." I was quiet through all this. "She wanted you to have this," he said, holding out a Mythomagic Hades figurine. I held it, clenched tightly in my fist. I could feel anger and sadness pulsing through me. Then THEY came. The skeletons. "No! You brought these things! You want to kill me too! Like you killed my sister!" Percy drew his sword. "They followed me, but no, I don't want you hurt! Run! Run Nico!" He battled them. I stood frozen to the spot. No matter how much I hated Percy Jackson, I couldn't bear to see him die. "Go away!" I yelled, and black energy exploded out of me. A chasm appeared in the ground of the marble dining pavilion. It swallowed the skeletons up and closed, leaving a black scar on the white stone.
I looked at Percy, rage in my eyes as I threw the figurine and ran. Away from the boy I had a crush on. Away from Camp Half-Blood. Away from everyone. Into the woods, the darkness. Over the creek, to Zeus's fist. I could hear Percy and the others searching for me, calling out my name. I curled into a ball, nestled in a crevice between two boulders, waiting, hoping they wouldn't find me. As if the gods had answered my prayers, a hole opened up and swallowed me. I fell, head over heels, into space. THUNK. My head hit the tile floor of a corridor and everything went black.
I came out of my flash-back and checked my watch. "What the…" it was past 4th period. In fact, it was soon to be dinner time. I hurried down to the dungeons, to drop off my bag when I saw a peculiar sight. I had entered our dormitory when I heard the sound of a guitar. I peeked around the half-open door to see Draco, dressed in ripped blue jeans and a light banana yellow polo shirt. His hair was messy, in a cute sort of way. He strummed chords, eyes closed, singing a tune I didn't know. When he had finished, I started to clap quietly. He looked up. His cheeks went red. "Oh, Nico. Sorry, I…" words seemed to have failed him. He stood, guitar on his bed. The silence between us was electric but calming and awkward at the same time. "I uh, just was gonna drop off my bag. That was really good by the way." I set my bag by the foot of my bed and left. He put the guitar away. I couldn't keep the blush from my cheeks.
