"Morning, everyone! Did you sleep well?" Briar asked
"I think so?" A Uva student shrug.
"I'm still sleepy..."
Briar let out a nervous laugh. "All right then... Starting today, you'll be joined by our two students from Blueberry Academy." She turn to Carmine and Kieran. "Go on, kids! Time to introduce yourselves."
"Hi! I'm Carmine!" Carmine greeted with a fake smile which Florian and Renne can tell. "It's a pleasure to meet you all outsiders—I mean, visitors from Paldea! Hee hee!"
'Hee hee my ass.' Florian whispered into Renne's ear, causing her to snicker.
"I-I'm... Kieran..." Kieran lower his head, looking away shyly.
"Carmine and Kieran actually grew up here, so ask them for help if you need anything." The caretaker said. "And you two better be of real help, you hear me?"
"Aye-Aye." Carmine replied. 'Yeah, right. I'll just let these outsiders do some work for me.'
"R-Right..." Kieran nodded
"Now that that's settled... Why don't I tell you all a bit about what we have planned for you?" The Caretaker suggested.
"Ooh! What's the plan gonna be?" One of the Uva students asked
"This school trip of yours will be an exercise in orienteering! We're going to split you all into groups of three. Then each pair will be tasked with finding three signboards located around the land of Kitakami. On each signboard, you'll find a snippet of an old folktale passed down here in Kitakami. Read them all and learn a bit about our home. To prove you've completed the task, you ask that each group take a snapshot together in front of these signboard with your phone or camera. Take a photo together in front of each of the three signboards to complete your mission! It's a self-tour of Kitakami! Learn all about its rich history! Much more fun than sitting around and listening to me ramble on and on, eh?"
"Wonderful!"Briar clapped her hands with a smile. "What an innovating idea for a group activity!"
"Oh, and I've got a gift for each of you as well!" The caretaker pull out and handed out Roto-sticks.
"Are these Roto-sticks?" One of the students asked
"Yep. I hear those thing're all the rage in the big cities. Use them when you take those photos! I'll even teach you a rad pose I came up with on my own." then he did the Eureka Emote.
Everyone sweatdrop.
"Ah, yes. Real... rad..." Briar muttered "Remember that one of the goals of this trip is to deepen the ties between our two schools. "It seems like having someone who knows the area well would be a big help. That being said... Let's try to maximize the number of interschool pairs, okay? Time to mingle!"
"Yes Ms. Briar!" Uva students nodded and they all began to talk with each other.
"So, you wanna pair up, Renne?" Florian asked.
"I don't mind, but who will be our third member?" Renne asked
"Hmm... Why not them?" Florian sugged as he and Renne approached Carmine and Kieran.

"Well, well. We meet again." Renne greeted.
"Ah, yes. The girl who ratted me and my brother out to the old man. What do the two of you want?" Carmine asked. "Let me guess— you want to pair up with one of us poor, lonely Blueberry students?"
"Oh my. Do I detect a grudge Miss Carmine? Oh you poor dear. I can assure you I didn't rat you out. All I said to the caretaker is that we've arrived and that one of my schoolmates was ill. Of course, he heard the battle and the rest is history."
"But we do would like that actually." Florian casually wrap his arm behind his neck. "But since we know your names, why don't we introduce ourselves since it is only fair. I'm Florian. And this is Renne."
"A pleasure." Renne greeted with her curtsy.
"Well nice to meet you two I suppose." Carmine then turn to Kieran. "Oh yeah. So my little brother here has been all googly-eyed over you two since yesterday." She said, causing Kiren to flinch. "He wouldn't stop talking about you two—even at home. I seriously couldn't get him to shut up."
"S-Sis!" Kieran glared. "What're you tellin' them that for, dummy!"
"HEY! Watch who you call "dummy" if you know what's good for you!"
"Aw man..."
"Hey, leave him alone Carmine." Florian fold his arm. "Don't bully your brother like that. Let alone threaten him."
"Plus, you were the one who embarrassed him." Renne added
"Oh, so you two are defending my little brother? Well isn't that just the sweetest." Carmine said with a fake smile and annoyed look. "Right, Kieran?"
"Y-Yeah." Kieran scratched his hair and then intervened his fingers. "T-Thanks."
"Haha. No problem." Florian smiled.
"Well, as you can see now, my brother's no good at talking to people. He's probably never worked up the nerve to ask you himself, but he'd really like a battle with one of you." Carmine said
"Oh of course. If he would like a battle then I wouldn't mind at all."
"Oh well, what do you know—turns out you're sorta nice. This'll make my brother really happy." Carmine turn to Kieran. "Chin up, Kiki! Florian said he'll battle you!"
"Say what?!" Kieran turn and look surprised and happy. "Really?! You don't mind?!"
"Yep. I wouldn't mind." Florian nodded in a smile. "I'm often been battled by many people before."
"It doesn't surprise us that Kieran started to become a fan or so. Especially since Florian defeated you in battle Carmine." Renne grinned
"Oh bringing tha tup, aren't you?" Carmine asked with an irritated look. "Anyway." She look away. "All right, everyone! Clear out! Make some space and you two get into position! A battle is about to start so move it!"
"All right, you two have fun." Renne said as she step out of the way.
"Ready, Kieran?" Florian asked as he got out his Pokeball.

Kieran pull out his Pokeball. "Hm-hm!" as he and Florian then begin to head into position.
Shy Younger Brother - Kieran
"Let's goMeowacarada/Sentret!" Florian and Kieran throw out their Pokeball and came out their Pokeball.
"Meow!" Meowscarada respond
"Sentret!" Sentret took its stand.
"Wowzer... That Pokemon look pretty strong... I can't believe I get to battle you! This is awesome!" Kieran said shy and happily.
Florian chuckled. "Let's have a good time, okay? Meowscarada, hold back, K?"
"Meow." Meowscarada nodded.
"Sentret, use Quick Attack!" Kieran command
"Sen!" Sentret then charge for a Quick Attack on Meowscarada's chest which he block with his arm and bounces Sentret off. "Sen!"
"Whoa, he hold on his ground!" Kieran respond in surprise.
"Meowscarada, Energy Ball!" Florian command.
"Meow!" Meowscara channel and form a sphere in his hands and then launch it.
"Dodge and use Take Down!" Kieran yelled
"Sen!' Sentret jump to his left and then charge at Meowscarada.
"Night Slash!" Florian command as Meowscarada arm's glow light blue, tilt his body to the left and then slash Sentret upward.
"Sentreeet!" Sentret winched swirling.
"Sentret!" Kieran exclaimed until landed on the floor.
"Sentreeet..." Sentret getting back on his feet
"U-Um use Hyper Voice!" Kieran command
"Sentreeeeeet!" Sentret let out rings of silver shockwaves at Meowscarada.
"Dodge and use Play Rough!" Florian command as Meowscarada dodge, rush at Sentret and then tackle in a white cloud, pummeling him until knock out of the cloud.
"Seeeeentret!" Sentret then fell to the ground in defeat. "Sentreet..."
"Ah, Sentret, return!" Kieran recalled Sentret and then switch to one final Pokeball. "Go, Yanma!" He throw his Pokenall and came out Yanma.
"Yanma." He greeted.
"Yanma, use Air Cutter!"
"Yanma!" Yanma's wings glow white and then swing done, sending air blades toward Meowscarada and hit him.
"Meowscarada, Night Slash!" Florian command
"Meow!" Meowscarada took his stand after he recovered, arms glow light blue, charge and then slash a few times and knock Yanma back
"Yaaaaaan!" Yanma cartwheeling away until recovered.
"Yanma, use Quick Attack!" Kieran yelled
"Yanmaaa!" Yanma rush toward Meowscarada.
"Dodge it." Florian command as Meowscarada swiftly dodge against the quick attack.
"Yanma, again!" Kirean yelled
"Yanma!" Yanma's cloak his body in white again and charge at Meowscarada.
"Agility." Florian command
"Meow!" Meowscarada swiftly move, almost as he teleported.
"Wozwer!" Kieran exclaimed
"Yanma?!" Yanma exclaimed
"Finish this with Flower Trick!" Florian command
"Meow~" Meowscarada spin around, raise his arm high, snapped his finger and then flower disappeared and reappeared over Yanma.
"Yanma?!" Yanma respond in surprise until exploded. "Yanmaaaa!"

(Resuming Mossi Town)
Yanma fell from the ground with swirling eyes. "Yanma..."
"Woohoo!" The Uva Academy students clapped and cheered.
"Awesome! That was an awesome battle!"
"Even with a Grass Type move... it was so strong to take out Yanma having an advantage..." Kieran said in surprise and then recalled Yanma.
Briar clapped her hands. "Nicely done kids! Nothing like a friendly battle to get to know someone!"
"W-Wowzers!" Kieran approached with a smile. "You sure are strong, Florian! Even with a Grass Type move... it launches a heavy hit, despite bug and flying types have more resistance to Grass Types."
"You're not half bad yourself, Kieran. It was a good battle." Florian smiled.
"I have to agree." Carmine approached. "Kiki's nearly as strong as I am, you know."
"I dunno about that..." Kieran muttered
"This orienteering thing... We're supposed to group in a three-person group, right? I'm guessing the two of you are a pair. Why not go ahead and pair up with Kiki, then?"
"What!?" Kieran look surprised. "But Sis—"
"Don't what? It's not like we can pair up. Or were you hoping to partner with some other random outsider instead of those two?"
"Well... no, but... Aw man..."
"Are you sure you want to be pair with us Kieran?" Renne asked. "The choice is yours, you know."
"Well... I..." Kieran trailed off
"Don't worry. He's just being shy." Carmine giggled. "I'll go find some chumps to group with too. Watch out for my little bro, you two."
"Okay, cya Carmine." Florian nodded as Carmine took off.
"Looks like you've all paired up!" The Caketaker approached as he pull out his Rotom Phone. "Let's go ahead and mark where you'll be going on those Rotom Phones of yours." He said as Florian and Renne's Rotom ARCUS emerged from their pockets and then received data on their Map App. "Not then, off you go to do some exploring! Oh, and if you find yourself in need of any potions or Pokeball or the like..." He turn his head to the store across the street. "Head on over thataway and stop by Peachy's! They'd be happy to set you to rights."
"Okay, will do." Renne nodded.
"U-Um..." Kieran spoke up. "So it looks like... we should probably start with the signboard at...Loyalty Plaza... That's out past the apple orchards on the west side of the village... It's close by. And I figure it might, um, make sense to...'y'know... visit them all in order... I'll probably just get in your way if I stick too close, so I'll just... follow you from a safe distance!"
"But you don't—" Florian then paused when Kieran took off running. "Huh, wait!"
"And there he goes." Renne said. "So much for not traveling with him."
"Ah, I apologize for him. As Carmine said. He's quite shy. But I'm sure that the three of you will become fast friends before you know it. Good luck." The Caretaker said as they nodded.
"All right!" Florian nodded. "Let's go, Renne! Meowscarada"
"Right." Renne nodded
"Meow!" Meowscarada nodded and they take off.

"I wonder what Pokemon are here in Kitakami. According to the Pokedex, there are some Pokemon that are seen from Paldea from here so I can ignore them." Florian said as they walked through the apple orchards. "Wow! Apple orchards! Kieran wasn't kidding we gotta pass here."
"Would it be quick if we got our traveling buddies?" Renne asked
"True, but there's no hard with doing some leg work." Florian said until he spotted a Fomantis. "Oh! A new Pokemon!" He got his Pokeball and then throw it and hit the Fomantis's head, pulling into the Pokeball, rolled three times until click.
"Congratulations. Fomantis is now registered into your Pokedex. Fomantis. The Sickle Grass Pokemon. A Grass Type. Fomantis hates having its naps interrupted. It fires off beams using energy it gathers by bathing in the sun. Many Trainers give their Fomantis their own flowerpots so they can sunbathe in peace and quiet."
"Neat." Florian said as they continue onward until Florian spotted a wild Bellsprout and a wild Sentret. He throw to catch them and registered into his Pokedex until arrived at the Loyalty Plaza.
"Huh. I thought Kieran would be here already." Florian look around. "Didn't he just run ahead?"
"He did." Renne said until he sense a presence coming. "Hm?" She turn and see Kieran. "Oh there you are."
"Were you waiting for me?" Kieran asked as they nodded. "I-I did mention that I'd hang back an' follow you here..."
"You did say that, I guess... but would it be better if we travel together?" Florian asked.
"Um... I don't know... I might hold you back..."
"Aww, don't be like that. We're in this together. Besides, the point of this is for us to work together and even become good friends too."
"Friends...?"
"Of course. Aren't we friends now? Or at least. He is?" Renne asked.
"Oh! I...Um..." Kieran scratching his cheek. "I... don't know."
"Kieran... by any chance, did you have friends in Blueberry Academy?" Florian asked
"Um..."
"Oh... Ohhh..." Florian grimaced.
"Oh you boy kid." Renne sighed. "Perhaps we should just drop that subject and focus on taking a picture of this signboard together."
"Right. Oh, but I already know the full story to it... S-So... you can go ahead. I'll wait." Kieran said as they nodded and began to read the sign.

"Long, long ago, there was a fearsome ogre in the land of Kitakami. The ogre made its home in the mountain behind the village, frightening all who ventured there. One day, the ogre came down from the mountain in a terrible rage, causing great fear in the village. By some stroke of luck, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezadipiti all happened to be there as well. The three Pokemon laid down their lives to fend off the ogre and send it back to the mountain. In admiration, the people of the village bestowed upon this brave trio the title "the Loyal Three". Their remains were given a proper burial, and statues of the three were erected above the site."

"The Loyal Three Monument is right over there..." Kieran said. "But what do you guys think about the folktale? Is it... kinda cool?"
"Yeah, it sure does!" Florian nodded.
"Right?! I knew you'd get it, Florian! It was up against three whole opponents at once, battling it out all by itself—wowzers, that's so cool!"
"Oh. I presume the story about those three. Was it about the Ogre?" Renne asked
"Well... I guess... but what did you think about the Ogre facing against those three all by itself?" Kieran asked
"Well... since you're asking. It's impressive. If it can defeated them on their own, it must be very powerful."
"I know right! You get it Renne! The Ogre was strong!"
"Someone is passionate about the ogre instead of those three."
"Huh? Oh... right. I guess most people would find that the ogre scary, huh? But I don't think there's any reason to be afraid..." Kieran smiled
"Oh, how come?" Florian asked

"When I was little, I went up into the mountain so many times at night." Kieran look at the mountain. "I did it on my own, too—an' I never once met that ogre. Only scary thing that happened was the grown-up givin' me a real earful about it..."
"Well, you did sneak out because they're worried about you." Florian said.
"I guess so..." Kieran sighed. "A-Anyway, let's go take the photo in front of the signboard. I don't have a smartphone... Could one of you..."
"Sure." Florian pull out his ARCUS Alpha. "Shall we?" He said as they got into a position where Florian did his cheerful Peace gesture with Meowscarada while Renne did her peace gesture in a lady manner while Kieran... was shy as he did the gesture.

"And done!" Florian said as they took a look. "Not bad!"
"Wow. You're good at taking photos too..." Kieran said
"Hehe. Wanna try another one?"
"Oh! No!"
"Aww, what a shame." Florian sighed
"W-Wait, wait wait!" Kieran exclaimed as she shook his head and wagging his arms. "That came out wrong! I didn't mean— M-maybe...next time..."
"Oh so that's what you mean? Okay then."
"Y'know...I didn't wanna have to come do this whole school trip thing, but...well...it might actually be kinda fun..." Kieran scratch his cheeks and light blush with a slight smile. "I get to be out in nature around my hometown...and talk to you, Florian."
"Hehe." Florian chuckled.
"Oh? Should I leave and leave you two alone?" Renne asked with a grin on her face.
"Huh?" Kieran tilt his head until his face turn entirely red. "W-W-W-W-W-Wait! I-I-I-I-I-I-I also mean you too, Renne! I just..." Then smoke came out of his head. "Aww, man..."
"Renne, don't tease him too much." Florian scolded.
Renne laughed. "Shouldn't I say that to you?"
"Meow." Meowscarada chuckled.
Kieran clear his throat. "H-Hey guys... if you want, maybe we could set up a picnic. Would you like a sandwich—"
Then Miraidon and Koraidon came out of their Pokeballs.
"Agia!" Both Miraidon and Koraidon roared.
"Gyah!" Kieran shout as he flinched. "Wh-what are those things?! Some kinda... kaniji or somethin'?!"
Renne burst into laughter. "Oh that was priceless!"
Florian nervously laughed. "Sorry about that Kieran. This is our Pokemon. The red one is named Koraidon while the blue is Miraidon. Koraidon is my Pokemon."
"And Miraidon is mine. We both ride them all over the place." Renne replied
"Really? I've never seen another Pokemon like this..." Kieran mused.
"Well, you can say that they're... one of the kind." Florian chuckled. "These two love sandwiches. So whenever someone says sandwich."
"Agias." Miraidon barked.
"Wow... Never thought I'd actually get to meet such an awesome Pokémon." Kieran said in awe until he close his eyes. "No wonder you're so strong, Florian... Renne..." He whispered "You two...you're special."
"Hmm?" Florian tilt his head. "What was that?"
"Oh! It's nothing. So, the next—! Errr, we should go find the next signboard! It's on the grounds of Kitakami Hall. Um, Kitakami Hall is... Well, first double back to town from here, then there's this bridge you cross, and from there, you'll need to climb up the mountainside. I'll hang back for now an' meet you there later!" Then Kieran took off.
"Wait! What about..." And too late as Florian sighed. "What about the picnic?"
Renne giggled. "He's certainly no longer shy." Renne said before turning to the sign. "Hmm..."
"Something up, Renne?"
"No... I just can't help but wonder... What was the Ogre angry about?"
"Huh? Hmm... Not sure. Maybe we should ask Kieran about it."

(Resuming Land of Kitakami)
"Might as well. All right, since you two are out. Come on. Let's go make out way toward Kitakami Hall." Renne said as she hop on Miraidon as Florian and Meowscarada hop on Koraidon.
Miraidon and Koraidon approached the railing, jumped high, and formed on Glide form and glide toward Mossi Town.
"Wait, is it a good idea to bring out Miraidon and Koraidon out here?" Florian asked
"I don't see the issue, especially since many people use ridable Pokemon."
"True." Florian said as they shortly landed between Apple Hill and Mossi Town.
They begin to enter the town where the townspeople really don't care which proves Renne's point. They cross the bridge and make their way to Reveler's Road.

"Agia?" Koraidon stopped and turn to the left as Miraidon stopped.
"What's up Koraidon?" Florian asked as they turn their heads and see a familiar face.

"Hello, hello, Florian and Renne!" Jacq waved his hand with the casual usual smile he does. "Enjoying your school trip?"
Renne blinked. "You got to be kidding..."
"Mr. Jacq?!" Florian exclaimed. "What are you doing here?!"
"Hehe... I came to check on how you two doing! I AM your homeroom teacher, after all." Jacq chuckled
Florian and Renne sweatdrop.
"Yeah I don't think that excuse will work on us, Mr. Jacq. You're actually here to study the Pokemon in Kitakami, aren't you?" Renne asked with a deadpan look.
"Ahahaha... You got me." Jacq casually scratches his messy hair sheepishly. "But enough about that. How about I treat you guys with a picnic?"
"Why a picnic?" Florian asked
"I thought something like this might happen, so I borrowed all the usual picnic things from Director Clavell."
"Well if you insist." Renne said.

"So how did you three like the sandwiches I've made?" Jacq asked as they look at it.
Renne sweatdrop. "I... think you need to work on your cooking there Mr. Jacq. It looks... different."
"Meow..."Meowscarada agreed, with a sweatdrop and blue lines.
"Ahaha... But I can assure you that it taste great!" Jacq assured.
"If you say so." Florian said as he take a bite. "Hmm..."
"So Mr. Jacq, do you often picnic out here in the field?" Renne asked
"To be honest, not really. I don't get out much so this kind of thing sure wears me out quick..."
"That would explain how scrunny you look."
Florian coughed as he wheezling his laugh as Meowscarada padded his back.
"Ahaha! I know right?" Jacq chuckled. "Anyway, I can't believe that you kids are so lucky to run around all over the place with your Treasure Hunt! You're really something!"
"Me too. I wasn't expecting that this kind of thing is usual in Pokemon Schools. I know a certain someone who actually interested in enrolling in Uva Academy."
"Oh really? Who?"
"Her name is KeA. She's a bright and cheerful girl. One look and you'll adore her quickly before you know it. She's also pretty smart too."
"Hahaha! I can't wait to meet her if she enroll." Jacq smiled
"Gulpin." Gulpin turn to the basket.
"Hm? Could there be something in my basket?" Jacq asked as he opened it and then pull out an Egg. "Feast your eyes on that!"
"A Pokemon Egg?" Renne asked
"Quite the mystery, don't you think? I only brought my Gulpin to this picnic with me, and yet..."
"Yeah, I wouldn't say that if you were the one who put the Egg there." Florian comments with a deadpan look with Renne and Meowscarada.
Jacq sweatdrop. "I can't get past anything with you kids."
"That's because we started to know well enough, Mr. Jacq. You're quite predictable at this point." Renne replied.
"Which also makes you loveable too." Florian chuckled.
"Aww, that makes me feel so happy." Jacq chuckled. "I'm sure you two remember about Pokemon Eggs in my class right?"
"Yeah. Whenever a Trainer doesn't have the means to care for an Egg they find, they can have it sent to the academy, where you'll take care of them, right?"
"Right. When I first thought of it, I thought, "Say, wouldn't it be better to have a great trainer raise the Pokemon instead?" So I brought this Egg with me!"
"And so you ask one of us to take care of it, don't you?" Renne asked
"You got it! What do ya say?"
Florian and Renne look at each other.
"Well, I don't mind actually." Florian said. "What about you, Renne?"
"I don't mind either. But which one of us will take care of the egg?" Renne asked
"Ah, yes about that." Jacq said as he pull out another egg from the basket.
"You have two eggs?" Renne asked
"Ahaha! Why not? The basket is large enough or them. But notice the difference between these eggs?"
One Egg is orange and yellow. The other egg is golden brown.
"Hmm... One is orange and yellow while the other is... golden brown. I'm actually kinda curious to what Pokemon they are." Renne admit. "Florian, which Egg would you be interested in?"
"Hmm..." Florian rub his chin. "I think the orange and yellow one."
"Guess I'll have the other one." Renne said
"Great! I entrust these eggs to you guys!" Jacq smiled. "You must think it's strange for me to suddenly come over here to Kitkami and just to hand over a Pokemon Egg, right? But I knew it both of these eggs will be safe in your care."
"Of course." Florian nodded. "But doesn't the Eggs have cases for them?"
"That's right. Glad that you remember. I prepared one just for you guys because I knew you would agree." He said as he pull out his backpack and then pull an Egg case. "Normally, as you guys know, when a trainer finds a Pokemon Egg in their basket, they can either be in their arms or if prepared, have an Egg case to keep them safe and warm. It also includes its own Pokeball too."
"Yeah. I remember when I got some Pokemon Eggs." Florian scratch his hair.
Flashback...
"All right, everyone! aiat's time to pack up." Florian called out as his Pokemon team nodded to help pack things up. As Florian reach out his basket. He notice it was slightly heavy. "Huh?"
"What is it, Florian?" Renne asked
"I don't know why but the basket has some extra weight. I certainly don't remember putting anything else here."
"Maybe the Pokemon found some berries and put it there." Renne said as Florian place the basket on the table and then open it.
"Waaah!" Florian yelled.
"What's wrong?" Renne asked as Florian pull an Egg. "Eh?"
"A P-Pokemon egg?!"

"Hahaha! It was funny because that was going to be the next topic for the class too when you return to ask me." Jacq chuckled. "Ahh, good times. Anyway, make sure you take good care of them." Jacq said as he place each Egg into the Egg Case and handed them to Florian and Renne. "Oh another thing I wanna ask. Are you two still using your Pokedex app over here too?"
"Yeah, we are. As usual I'm gonna fill out the Pokedex." Florian replied
"Great! While you're doing that, I'll be doing some fieldwork in this area for awhile."
"Okay, but try not to get yourself into trouble." Renne said as she holds the egg. "Also, does the director know?"
Jacq started sweating, causing Renne and Florian to sweatdrop.
"Forget I ask."
"G-Good idea. Anyway! Can't wait to see you fill out the Pokdexes!" Jacq said as Florian and Renne hop on Miraidon and Koraidon then begin to take off.

(Resuming Land of Kitakami)
"My goodness he certainly show up out of nowhere." Renne said
"That's Mr. Jacq for you." Florian nervous laugh. "Still, what do you think the Pokemon will be when they hatch?"
"Guess we'll find out when they hatch."
Along the way. They encounter a few Pokemon trainers and battle them. They defeated them and earned some money. Florian encounters some wild Pokemon and captures them. They found Crystals as well and defeated the Pokemon in the trial. Soon they arrived on Kitakami Hall and dismount, recalled Miraidon and Koraidon, and walked up the stairs.
"What's going on here?" Florian asked as they see stalls.
"Looks like there's a festival going on." Renne said. "The second signboard should be somewhere around here. Let's keep looking."
They wonder around for a little bit until found Kieran waiting at the sign board.
"There you are Kieran." Renne called out as they approached.
"Oh. Hey you two. Sorry about... Eh? Is that a Pokemon Egg?" Kieran asked
"Yeah. We just met an acquaintist of ours here and he give us some eggs." Florian explained. "This is the second signboard, right? It's quite tricky to find."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I was planning on following you two from a distance... but I ended up losing you. So I thought I arrive here and see if you were here."
"Ahaha... Sorry about the hold up."
"Shall we read what this said?" Renne asked
"Yeah. Let's go read it." Kieran nodded.
(BGM paused)

"The ogre possessed four mysterious, glimmering masks. It is said that depending on the mask the ogre donned, the powers of its cudgel would change. When wearing the teal mask, it could bring life back into the withered greenery around it. When wearing the crimson mask, it could turn a candle's flame into a raging inferno. When wearing the blue mask, it could stop the very flow of a river. When wearing the ashen gray mask, it could easily break the hardest stone in two. Before the Loyal Three fell, they wrested away three of the ogre's masks, greatly weakening it."

"Well this is interesting." Renne mused "The Ogre possesses four mysterious masks and each possesses a different power."
"Yeah. And the Loyal Three stole the masks and are kept over at Kitakami Hall." Kieran nodded. "Everyone in town is scared of the ogre... but me? I really like it."
"Just you? How come?" Florian asked
"It was strong... and cool... and it didn't even care when everyone shunned it... I've always wanted to be like that, ever since I was a kid. I want to be as cool as the ogre." Kieran then let out a sigh. "My sis sorta ends up doin' everything for me... even when we're at school... I... wanna try to get stronger. So I can do things for myself, you know?"
"Yeah, we get the idea actually." Florian nodded. "You wanted to be independent and make your own choices. There's nothing wrong with that. But didn't you tell your sister to stop making discussions for you?"
"I tried but... I couldn't even muster the courage to even say that. And... let's be real here... even if I did, he probably wouldn't listen. Which is why I'm gonna become someone people can rely on. Then, just maybe... I could be that ogre's friend."
"Aww, that's a nice thought." Florian smiled. "Then I'll be rooting for you."
"Thanks." Kieran let out a smile. "Oh!" He recalled. "Right... I... nearly forgot the picture. We're s'posed to take a picture!"
"Oh yeah. All right." Florian place the Egg case on his feet as Renne did the same. Florian pull out his Rotom ARCUS Alpha and set it up. "Now smile!"
Florian then snapped the picture where He, Renne, Meowscarada and Kieran did the jazz hands pose, revealing the Signboard.
"Aaand done!" Florian smiled, put it away, pick up the Egg case. "One more sign to go. So where's the final sign?"
"Oh." Kieran look at the mountain path. "You guys remember the story about the ogre lives on right? It's actually Oni Mountain."
"Oni Mountain? That's a fitting name for the Ogre to live in." Renne said
"So we just gotta climb up the stairs, right?" Florian asked.
"Yeah. But we could... also see the Ogre's home. Folks call it the Dreaded Den." Kieran said
"Ooh, sinister name. Now I wanna see it!"
"H-Haha!" Kieran smiled. "That... made me really happy to hear that! So... if you keep climbing up, you'll reach the Infernal Pass. There's a sign before that... if you can turn at the sign, you can get to the Dreaded Den. Well. S-So I'll just run ahead. Come along when you're ready. An' be careful!" He said and then he took off.
"He really doesn't want to accompany us, doesn't he?" Renne asked.
"Yeah, he's kinda missing the point. But we should follow him. Come on." Florian said until the Egg move. "Eh?"
"Oh!" Renne gasped as she and Florian put the egg case on the floor, open, grabbed the Egg and pillow on the floor. The Egg begin to glow bright and then it begin to take form.
"Chimchar!" Chimchar cried.
"Heya!" Starmi roared.
"Awww~" Florian cooed as Chimchar and Staryu look around. "They're so cute~"
"Welcome to the world little ones. But which Pokemon are you." Renne wondered as her Rotom ARCUS Alpha scan them.
"Chimchar. The Chimp Pokemon. A Fire Type. It agilely scales sheer cliffs to live atop craggy mountains. Its fire is put out when it sleeps." Then turn to Staryu. "Staryu. The Star Shape Pokemon. A Water Type. Staryu apparently communicates with the stars in the night sky by flashing the red core at the center of its body. If parts of its body are torn, this Pokémon simply regenerates the missing pieces and limbs."
"Well look at you. Aren't you such a bright little star." Renne knee down as Staryu.
"Heya!"
"Aww you're absolutely adorable, aren't cha?" Florian smiled as he knee down as Chimchar then took off. "Eh? Oi! Chimchar, wait!" He took off with Meowscarada as Renne got the Pokeball from the Egg case and then tap on Staryu and got into her Pokeball.
"Congratulations. Staryu is now registered into your Pokedex."
"Excellent." Renne smirked. "Rotom, what does Staryu evolve into?"
"Bzzt! Staryu can evolve into Starmie when expose to a Water Stone." Rotom answered
"I see. The timing is far too early. So let's get this little one some practice. It is a newborn after all. But if I feed it some of those candies to help its growth... hmm... Staryu needs to learn how to fight properly. I need to spend time with it. So I'll switch it out with Floatzel for now." She said as Floatzel was teleported to her Box. Then called out Staryu.
"Heya?" Staryu tilts its head.
"Hey Staryu. I'll be your Trainer. I'll help you grow to become a strong Pokemon. But welcome to the world all the same."
"Ajajajaja!" Florian yelled in the distance as Renne turn to the direction where he came back but was burned face as Meowscarada stood next to him, but with a sweatdrop.
"What happen to you?"
"Chimchar is quite a lively little monkey. I managed to put him in his Pokeball, but will raise him after this. I need to go wash my face."
"Hang on." Renne pull out her Pokedex. "Okay, good. "Staryu, Water Gun his face but gentle."
Staryuu fired water from its the tip of its topmost limb and splash on Florian's face as his face is clean now, but wet.
"Thanks." Florian said as he wipe his face with his shirt. "Okay, let's go." He said as he, Meowscarada, Renne and Staryu walk up the stairs and arrived at Oni Mountain.
"I wonder what would the Ogre would look like?" Florian wondered.
"Perhaps like any other ogre-like." Renne shrug.
"So you encounter some Ogre monsters back in where you're from?"
"No. But some monsters almost resemble one. I know this Ogre girl who's too wild. And a psychopath too."
"I take it she's not your friend." Florian asked
"Not even close." Renne replied as they arrived in Oni's Maw. "Okay, we need to find the sign. Kieran said we have to climb up here right?"
"Right. But I guess he forgot to mention the bridge we can use to get across." Florian said as they cross the bridge and see some wild Geodude, Niobat and Morpeko. "OOh! New Pokemon to catch!"
Florian then rush over to catch some new Pokemon to add into the Pokedex. Aftward, they arrived in a fork in the road.
"Okay... Kieran left out some details apparently." Florian sighed
"We really need to get him a Rotom phone." Renne shrug. "But he said to go up. So... unless I'm mistaken, we should go this way." Renne said as they go up until they found two signs. To the left reads the "Infernal Pass" while the other reads "To the Dreaded Den. DANGER—DO NOT ENTER".
"We found the sign." Florian said as they go to the right where they cross a rocky bridge until arrive at the den where Kieran waits. "There you are, Kieran."
"Oh! Hey guys. Didja have trouble getting across that narrow path?" Kieran asked with a smile until notice the egg. "Huh? Where's the Pokemon Egg you were carrying?"
"Oh it hatch." Renne answered
"Seriously? Aww, what Pokemon was it?"
"Well for mine, it this little one." Renne turn to Staryu.
"Whoooa. I never see that Pokemon. What's it called?" Kieran asked
"Staryu. The Star Shake Pokemon and a Water Type."
"And mine was a Chimchar!" Florian smiled
"A Chimchar? Wow! We have Chinchar back in Blueberry Academy! Oh. Wild ones I mean."
"Really?"
"Yeah. But that's a story for another time." He turn to the cave. "See that cave? That's Dreaded Den. This is s'posed to be the Ogre's home... At least, that's what everyone says. I came here all the time, but I'VE never seen it."
"Did you went inside?" Renne asked
"Yeah. I did countless times back then. But... it was never there. But I thought maybe the powerful Ogre would come out only if it heard some kinda battle goin' on."
"So the only way to draw it out in a fight?" Florian asked
"What's what I thought at least. Since I've gotten a bit stronger since I faced Florian... But you know. I don't think I faced you before, Renne. Why don't we have a fight?"
"Sure. I wouldn't mind. But Staryu. Watch how a Pokemon Battle goes." Renne said.
"Heya!" Staryu nodded as Renne begin to get into position while Florian find a good spot to watch.
"Okay, I'll be here and watch!" Florian waved.

"All right, I'll give it all I got!" Kieran pull out his Pokeball.
"I'll do the same." Renne pull out her Pokeball.
Ogre Fan - Kieran
"Go Glaceon!" Renne throw her Pokeball and came out Glaceon.
"Glace!" Glaceon roared
"Go, Furret!" Kieran throw his Pokeball and came out Furrent.
"Furret!" Furret took his stand.
"Glaceon, Ice Beam!" Renne command
"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Kieran yelled
"Furret!" Furret dodge and then headbutted Glaceon.
"Glace!" Glaceon grunted.
"Ohoh. Guess holding back just a little isn't an option. " Renne smirked. "Glaceon, Snowscape."
"Glaaaaace!" Glaceon howled and dark clouds appeared and snow falls.
"Huh? It's snowing?" Kieran look up. "Whatever this is, Furrent, use Double-Edge!"
"Furr!" Furret rush toward Glaceon and tackle her, but she dodged swiftly.
"Iron Tail!" Renne command
"Glace!" Glaceon flip forward and slam Furret to the ground with a powerful blow.
"Fur!" Furret grunted.
"Whoa, that look strong..." Kieran muttered. "Furret, dig!"
"Furret!" Furrent jump and then begin digging a hole and then vanished.
Glaceon look around the floor as Renne carefully observed until Glaceon's ear twitch.
"Dodge and used Ice Fang!" Renne command as Glaceon swiftly move as Furret burst out of the ground, then Glaceon's fangs glow in light blue, icy energy, jump and bite Furret.
"Furr!" Furret grunted as Glaiceon then toss Furret in-mid-air.
"Furret!" Kieran yelled
"Ice Beam!" Renne command.
"Glaaace!" Glaceon fired a powerful beam of ice at Furet and exploded on him.
As Glaceon landed on her feet, Furret crash down, encase in ice and swirling ice.
"Whoa! Frozen solid! Return!" Kieran exclaimed and recalled Furret. "Okay, Poliwhirl, you're up!" He throw his Pokeball and came out Poliwhirl.
"Poliwhirl!" Poliwhirl roared.
"Poliwhirl, use Haze!" Kieran yelled
"Poli!" Poliwhirl shoot out haze by creating and swing his arm, creating thick haze around the fight.
"Haze, huh..." Renne muttered as Glaceon remain on guard.
"Liquidation!" Kieran yelled as Poliwhirl burst out with cloak hands of water and punches Glaceon.
"Glace!" Glaceon was pushing out of the haze.
"Get rid of that haze with Blizzard!" Renne command
"Glace!" Glaceon fired a blizzard to remove the haze but once it's gone, Poliwhirl was not seen. "Glace?"
"Body Slam!" Kieran yelled as Renne look from above and Poliwhirl dive and slam Glaceon
"Glaaaaace!" Glaceon yelled in agony.
"Glaceon!" Renne exclaimed
"All right!" Kieran cheered
"Not bad." Florian clapped.
"Hehe. Clever. Glaceon, Ice Beam the floor!" Renne command
"Glaaace!" Glaceon fired Ice Beam on the floor where it created ice floors but also ice pillars to knock Glaceon and Poliwhirl in mid-air and off.
"Now Freeze-Dry!"
"Glaaace!" Glaceon then fired a beam of light bleu energy from her mouth and then striking Polowhirl.
"Poliiiiiiiii! Poliwhirl yelled in agony as it freeze.
"W-What the heck!?" Kieran was dumbfounded as Poliwhirl broke out of the ice and panted. "B-But that's an Ice-type move! It shouldn't have much effect against a Water Type."
"True. But there's an Ice Type move called Freeze-Dry that can be super effective against Water-Type, which Poliwhirl demestrates.
"N-No way!"
"Glaceon, Shadow Ball!"
"Glace!" Glaceon channel and fired Shadow Ball
"Use Bubble Beam!" Kieran yelled
"Poli!" Poliwhirl fired Bubble Beam from its hands and both attacked intercept and both exploded.
"Now use Haze!" Kieran yelled.
"Poli!" Poliwhirl swing his arm for another set of haze to surround the battlefield.
"Glaceon, countershield with Blizzard." Renne command
"Glace!" Glaceon land on her back and started spinning while using Blizzard to form into into a Blizzard barrier to break out the Haze.
"What the!" Kieran dumbfounded.
"Now use Freeze-Dry!" Renne command
"Glaaace!" Glaceon then fired Freeze-Dry into a beam and then strike on Poliwhirl
"Poliiiiii!" Poliwhirl yelled in as it freeze and then fell in defeat with swirling out.
"P-Poliwhirl, return!" Kieran recalled and then switch to his final Pokemon. "Yanma, go!" He throw his Pokeball and then came out Yanma.
"Yanma!" Yanma yelled as the Snow stopped.
"Oh. Guess the snow stop." Renne look up.
"Okay, Yanma, use Bug Buzz!" Kieran yelled
"Yenma!" Yanma unleashes a red sound wave toward Glaceon.
"Dodge and use Ice Beam!" Renne command
"Glace!" Glaceon jump to avoid the attack with swift speed and then Ice Beam toward Yanma.
"Dodge and use Air Cutter!" Kieran yelled
"Yanma!" Yanma duck as Ice Beam passes leaving ice spikes until Glaceon droops, Yanma then moves swiftly and throws Air Cutter at Glaceon.
"Quick Attack!" Renne command as Glaceon stop her Ice Beam, cloak in white and charge with crazy speed and head butted Yanma
"Yan!" Yanma grunted
"Wowzer so fast!" Kieran dumbfounded.
"Finish with Ice Beam!" Renne command
"Glaaace!" Glaceon fired a powerful Ice Beam and then struck freezing Yanma in Ice as he fell to the floor in defeat.

(Resuming Land of Kitakami)
"Yanma, return!" Kieran recalled Yanma to his Pokeball. "Wow, Renne... You're so strong as Florian. I don't think I can beat you either."
"You have potential Kieran. It was very clever to use haze to block the sight. You will beat me and Florian someday. Just don't give up." Renne replied as Glaceon smiled. "Right, Glaceon?"
"Glace!"Glaceon nodded
"Do you see that Staryu? You're going to be very strong when you're with me."
"Heya!" Staryu cried.
"Hehe. I wonder if the Ogre saw that battle, I'm sure it'd be thinking, "That kid's got real strength..." Kieran smiled
"Well from what I see. So do you." Florian approached.
"T-Thank you." Kieran smiled.
"So Kieran, why don't you tell us about Blueberry Academy?"
"Well, it's specializes in teachin' the art of Pokemon battlin'. I learn some tactics, but I had never encountered a problem like Freeze-Dry before. Not to mention that shield just now too. It blew me away. If I was strong as you two... maybe I could aim to be the best Trainer there."
"You will, Kieran. And when you do, let's have a good battle as equals." Florian smiled
"Yeah." Kieran smiled as he light blushed. "So... you say that the cave is empty, right? I wanna take a look at it."
"Yeah, I'm curious too." Florian said. "Let's go."
"All right, but don't say I warn you." Renne said as Florian and Kieran go into the cave. "Hm?" Renne turn her head to the rock. 'Oh.' She grinned before going into the cave with Glaceon and Staryu.
As Renne notice, an unknown creature was watching before taking off.
(BGM paused)
"So this is where the Ogre live?" Florian look around the small cave.
"Yeah. Notice how dark it is in here? Not to mention its cramped... Even the floor's all rough and uneven." Kieran sighed

"Living all alone in a place like this would be pretty miserable, don't you think? Poor Ogre... We have plenty of room at our house. I would've totally let it stay with us."
"You're pretty sweet, Kieran." Florian smiled.
"N-no, I'm not! I've just...always liked the stories about the ogre, that's all..." Kieran scratch his hair and light blushed as he smile. "B-but...if the ogre really did show up to stay at our place, I'm sure the whole town would freak."
"I can imagine so. Speaking off, Kieran. I'm curious about the Ogre. How come the Ogre was frustrated?" Renne asked
"Hmm... Honestly. I been wondering about that question too. Maybe someone upset the Ogre. If so, I wanna ask why." Kieran said before noticing the sun going down. "Huh?" He leave the cave. "Oh, the sun's going down already?"
"Looks like it." Florian said. "Aww, but that means we didn't make it to the last signboard. I thought we would be done by today."
"Yeah, but I wouldn't worry about it. Ms. Briar and the caretaker didn't say the orinteering has to be completed by today. So we got plenty of time." Kieran said.
"True." Renne nodded. "Oh that reminds me. While we were making our way to Kitakami Hall, there were many stalls being set up. What's up with that?"
"Oh! I almost forgot to mention that! Today's the first day of the Festival of Masks over at Kitakami Hall."
"What's the Festival of Masks?" Florian asked.
"It's a big event where everyone puts on mask and run around celebrating..."
"Oh that sounds fun! Let's go together Kieran!"
"Y-Yeah! Let's go together!" Kieran said as he blush and happy.
'My, my, he's certainly blushing isn't he?' Renne thought with a grin on her face. "Oh, wait a moment. Are we allow to be in the festival?"
"Yeah, sure you can. There's just a few things we'd have to get ready first, so we should swing by my house before heading to the festival."
"So where do you live?" Florian asked
"On the northwest corner of the village." Kieran answered. "Wait... hang on... I need to draw a map..."
"No need. We can use our Map app on our Rotom ARCUSes." Florian said as his Rotom ARCUS Alpha emerge out and reveal the map app of Kitakami. "So why don't you register the location from here?"
"Sure, I could give it a try..." Kieran said as approached and then begin to type in and then register the location. "Wowzers! It sure is handy having a map that shows you everywhere right there in your phone..."
"I know right?"
"I'm gonna ask if I can get a Rotom Phone someday too!"
"Great! Then we can talk to each other at anytime."
"Yeah!"
'Look at them. It's like I'm not even here.' Renne thought as she grinned. 'The friendship between boys. How quickly they become friends.'
"Now that we got your address, why don't we glide out way down." Florian suggest.
"Glide?" Kieran tilt his head. "You have a glider?"
"Hehe. Not exactly buy." Florian pull out his Pokeball and called out Koraidon.
"Oh!"
"Koraidon. Get ready to glide us down the mountain!" Florian said
"Agia!" Koraidon nodded.
"Oh that reminds me. It's should be dinner hour now. We should get something to eat." Renne told them
"Oh you're right! Wait... Koraidon and fly?!"Kieran exclaimed
"Well... not exactly flying but he can glide us down safely. Miraidon can too." Florian explained a she hop on Koraidon. "Come on."
"O-Okay..." Kieran said as he hop and sit behind Florian. "U-Um... what do I do?"
"Just hold on tight to me."
"Like this?" Kieran wrap his arm at Florian's waist.
"Yep. Okay, Koraidon, let's go!" Florian said as Koraidon nodded and begin to run and then jump off the open space area.
"WHOOOAAAAAAAAAAH!" Kieran yelled
"My goodness they really have forgotten about me. Not that I'm complaining." Renne chuckled. "Anyway, let's go too. Miraidon. You too." She said as Miraidon came out. "Okay, Glaceon, Staryu, return." She recalled both her Pokemon, hop on Miraidon and then jump and glide down the mountain.
And the second chapter was done in a day! Next up is the festival! And looks like Florian and Kieran are very friendly with each other too. The friendship between boys, right?
