In the TARDIS, the Doctor was checking for any malfunction in the TARDIS console. He didn't want any weird surprises, especially today. Today, he was taking Loona and Octavia for a ride in the blue box. The Goetic princess deserved to have fun after what happened on Earth.
"Everything's alright with the console?" Loona entered the room, already in her Human disguise.
"Yes, we should land in any minutes." said the Doctor. "Is Octavia ready?"
"She's putting on the Perception-thingy," said Loona.
Octavia entered the console room now with a Human disguise via a modified Perception Filter. She looked identical to her usual Demon form, or she was now a human teenager with purple-ish hair.
"How...Do I look?" She asked, shyly.
Loona gave her a thumbs up.
"Absolutely incredible." the Doctor smiled. Octavia looked away blushing. The Time Lord left the console.
"Alright! We have landed." said the Doctor, turning into a Human form.
"Where are we, Doctor?" Octavia asked.
"You will see..."
As the Doctor opened the doors, Octavia and Loona's eyes widened at the sight. It was enormous, with a shiny golden sky, and a circus, medieval-esque yet futuristic park surrounding them.
"Welcome to the Jitavox Amusement Park, the biggest theme park on this side of the galaxy." said the Doctor. "What do you think?"
"Holy shit..." said Loona.
"It's huge..." said Octavia.
"Your dad told me you aren't fond of theme parks, but...I wanted to try." said the Doctor.
"Well, at least it's not a shitty knock-off like Loo-Loo Land," said Octavia. "Yeah, I think we'll have fun."
"Come on, then! Let's have some fun!" said the Doctor.
The trio tried several attractions, from dodgems with flying cars to arcade games. They had lots of fun together
After hours, they sat down on a bench to relax.
"Nice place, isn't it?" said the Doctor.
"Yeah, pretty cool," said Loona.
"This place is awesome, thanks for the trip, Doctor," said Octavia, smiling. "Never thought there could be a place like this in space."
"Oh, Humans are very good at having fun. Give them a few centuries and they'll be all over the universe making these types of things."
A voice spoke from the speakers.
"ATTENTION: THE GAMECUBE WILL BEGIN IN 2 HOURS. GO TO THE NORTHERN SECTION TO GET YOUR TICKET."
"What's the Gamecube?" Octavia asked.
"Probably a nerd thing," said Loona.
"One more reason to take a look." said the Doctor. "Come on, let's get the tickets."
The trio went to the northern section to get the tickets. Hours later, they arrived at the Gamecube, a large...Purple cube.
"So, what's so special about this cube?" Loona asked.
"It seems a Virtual Reality attraction." the Doctor explained.
A man in a purple suit stood on the stage before the cube. "Ladies, Gentlemen and Variations thereupon, I welcome you to the Gamecube. Here, you will experience wonders beyond your imagination thanks to the power of VR technology." The cube opened in front of the public, revealing 50 capsules. "Please, make a line, register yourself at the stand and enter on the capsules."
The public obliged, one by one arrived at the stand and entered the capsule. Then, it was the TARDIS trio's turn.
"Names?" The man asked.
"I'm the Doctor, these two are Loona and Octavia." said the Doctor.
"The man wrote something on the documents. "You may enter."
The trio went to the Cube and sat inside the three capsules next to each other.
Technicians put on some futuristic-looking crown on every participant's head.
Meanwhile, in the Maintenance room, everything was ready. Until a mysterious figure, hidden by a black cloak, walked into the Server room.
They grinned, as they put a USB drive inside one of the terminals and left the place.
"ATTENTION. ATTENTION. VIRUS HAS INFECTED THE SERVERS." A robotic spoke.
The technicians in the control room panicked, trying to figure out what was happening, but the simulation already started.
In the simulation, the participants materialised in a black and purple area.
"GREETINGS, PARTICIPANTS OF THE GAME CUBE." A polite robotic voice spoke. "YOU'RE CURRENTLY UNDER HOSTAGE, BUT YOU WILL BE FREE UNDER ONE CONDITION: COMPLETE A SERIES OF THREE GAMES. IF YOU FAIL YOUR VITAL FUNCTIONS WILL BE TERMINATED."
The participants began to panic as they heard the threat, especially the younger ones. The Doctor could hear the cries of children who wanted their mothers in the crowd.
While Octavia was slightly anxious, Loona was much calmer.
"So, what's the plan?" She asked.
"We don't have much choice: We have to play the game." said the Doctor.
"IF YOU WISH TO START THE GAME, PLEASE, JUMP INTO THE HOLE." said the voice.
The participants began to jump into the dark hole.
The Doctor held Octavia and Loona's hands, so they wouldn't get separated. "Ready?"
The two Demons nodded. "Ready."
The trio jumped into the unknown.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
They landed on the ground. Or rather, Octavia and Loona landed on the Doctor on the ground.
"Are you alright?" Octavia asked.
"I think so..." said Loona.
"I'm happy to hear that, now, would you mind moving over?" said the Doctor.
"Oh, right, sorry," said Loona, as she and Octavia helped the Time Lord stand up.
"Thank you," He said, "Now then, where are we?"
The lights went on, revealing an incredibly complicated and dangerous obstacle race.
"T-This is the first game?!" said Octavia, shocked.
"Looks easy to me." said the Doctor.
"What do you mean "it looks easy"?!" Octavia shouted.
"Come on, if you're agile enough, this one is easy." said the Doctor. "Do you think you can do it?"
"I think so, yeah," said Loona.
"Not really, no," said Octavia.
"Alright." the Doctor held the Owlette's hand. "Just follow my moves. Ready?"
The two nodded.
They began the race, they jumped the pits, dodged the chainsaws and the cannonballs
30 minutes later, they arrived at the end.
"Woah, that was fun." said the Doctor. "Are you alright, you two?"
Loona was fine while Octavia was exhausted.
"I'm not...Used...To run this much..." The emo girl panted.
"That's how it is with me: There's always an awful lot of running." said the Doctor.
"Hey." Loona noticed something. "Look at the sky."
Right in the sky, there was the number 30 floating in the air.
"Number 30...What does that mean?"
"Maybe it's the number of people remaining. How many were we? 50?"
"Yeah...Already 40% of the players have been eliminated." said the Doctor. "Come on, let's continue."
A portal appeared and the trio stepped inside.
They arrived in what seemed to be a purple maze.
"WELCOME TO THE MAZE." The voice spoke again. "IN ORDER TO WIN, YOU NEED TO REACH THE CENTRE OF THE MAZE. BEWARE: YOU MAY HAVE UNFORTUNATE MEETINGS DURING THE JOURNEY."
"Psst," Loona whispered to the Doctor. "Can't you just, like, fly to the exit?"
"Hold on." the Doctor pulled out a bag of jelly babies from his pocket. He took a jelly baby and threw it in the air, which was immediately disintegrated. "Anti-cheat measures."
Loona began sniffing the air. "I feel something...Something cold."
"Maybe that's the exit?" Octavia commented.
"Possibly. Lead the way, Loona!" said the Doctor.
The Time Lord and the teenage Demon followed the Hellhound through the maze, without encountering any weird stuff for the first minutes.
That was until a plant grabbed Octavia's arm.
The girl flinched, immediately alarming the Doctor, who used his sonic screwdriver to stun the living plant.
The group ran away, following the scent Loona found.
Eventually, they arrived in a zone with a trapdoor on the ground.
"It should be the exit, the scent ends here," said Loona.
"Okay, final game." said the Doctor as he opened the trapdoor and jumped in it, followed by his demonic companions.
They descended into a black-and-white room, with a monitor showing the instructions:
"To finally leave this place, open up with the other players."
"Huh?" Loona raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What does it mean?"
"Well, that's great, there's something I was curious about." the Doctor turned to Octavia. "I...Heard a bit from Marchosias about your situation at home. Would like to talk about it?"
Octavia sighed. "Fine."
"Your parents are divorcing, right?" said the Doctor, his tone sounding sweeter, knowing how delicate the argument was. "How do you feel?"
"How am I supposed to feel? I feel like shit!" said Octavia, "I know our family wasn't perfect, but why did he have to ruin it, because he was horny?!"
"Stolas is the cause of the divorce?" the Doctor asked. "He seemed a nice person, aristocrats with a good heart aren't common."
"Yeah, but apparently he had a good enough heart to want to fuck that red asshole rather than spend time with his family!" Octavia continued ranting.
"Who are you talking about?" the Doctor asked.
"Blitzo fucks Octavia's dad so that we can have access to the Human world," Loona explained.
"I don't know what to do...I feel like my world is falling...I'm afraid he will leave me..." Octavia fell to the ground. "Y-You know, I...Had a lot of fun with you, Doctor, even if I almost got killed in the obstacle race. I managed to forget my problems at home when I was with you, even if it was for a couple of hours." She smiled softly. "Since you crashed into my room, I always wondered who you were. I thought you were just some...Weird spirit that wanted to check on me and now, in the darkest moment in my life, you return. You-"
"I'm gonna stop you right there." the Doctor interjected, knowing how the conversation was going. "If you're asking me to become my travelling companion so that you can forget your pain, the answer is no, because the moment you stop it will return. It's not like if you close your eyes while you're bleeding your injury disappears." He held her hand. "Listen, I know what you're feeling, and I'm sorry I can't do much about it, but I promise: A storm doesn't last forever, not even in Hell. All of this pain will disappear eventually, you just have to wait. I don't know your father well, but seeing how much he was in a rush to rescue you, he will not abandon you. He'd rather die than abandon you. I would do that for my granddaughter, too."
"Granddaughter?!" The two Demons said in unison, shocked.
"Yes, didn't I tell you before?" said the Doctor nonchalantly. "What, you thought I was your age?"
"I thought you were, like, slightly older than me," said Octavia.
"Well, I usually look rather young." said the Doctor, "But anyway, I hope you got the message, Via."
Octavia nodded, "Thank you."
Suddenly, a happy fanfare started playing, as the door opened, the trio was engulfed by a yellow light.
Then, they woke up in the real world: They won the game. All the participants, thanks to the TARDIS trio, survived and reunited with their families. Not wanting to investigate further, the Doctor brought Octavia and Loona back home.
After leaving Octavia at the mansion, the Time Lord was alone in the TARDIS with the Hellhound.
However, he could feel something was wrong with her.
"Loona..." said the Doctor, "Are you alright? You haven't uttered a word since we left the simulation."
"It's...Fine. I'm fine." said Loona, "Just...Leave me near the I.M.P. Office."
The TARDIS materialised, Loona emerged from it. As the box dematerialised, a tear fell from her face.
"Of fucking course..." She thought. "Of all people..."
The hound went in the opposite direction, in the hope to cheer herself up a bit from this second heartbreak.
