Being Roommates with an Addams
Wednesday didn't need supernatural senses or her visions to sense Enid staring at almost all the time lately. Ever since a year ago when Wednesday saved the school and Enid had her fight with Tyler it's been like this. Enid was always a bit of a puppy. Happy, bubbly, excited over everything, all too affectionate.
This behavior got worse after she wolfed out for the first time and started to mature into a full werewolf. Usually sharing a room with such a ferocious beast would be a thrill to an Addams but Wednesday wanted her peace and she was not having it with Enid clinging to her constantly as of late.
"Howdy roomie." Wednesday groaned as she felt Enid's soft sweater warm on her back and shoulders. She was in the middle of unpacking when the werewolf hugged her from behind. "How was practice?"
The affectionate tone and nuzzle made Wednesday shiver and push her friend away. Gently. "Disappointing. What's the point of these sword lessons if no one seems to be getting better?"
"Not everyone is a genius like you and Bianca. Some people need time to show results." Enid squared her shoulders to make herself look bigger. She'd been showing off more lately. Her strength, speed, agility, reflexes, it always seemed on full display when Wednesday was around.
Wednesday passed by her and barely looked at her. "Perhaps if said people focused more on skills and studying and less on tracking down the latest album of a Korean singers group they would have an easier time."
"Those help me focus." Enid would always defend her choice of music. To the death.
"Making your ears bleed is an odd way to stay focused." Although it was more Wednesday getting annoyed, Enid enjoyed every beat and lyric of those songs.
Wednesday started gathering fresh clothes while Enid made herself comfortable on Wednesday's bed. She sat down, rocking back and forth expectedly. The Seer knew what she was waiting for. When she didn't give it Enid patted the spot beside her. Louder, louder, louder.
"You know you wanna." She almost sang when she saw Wednesday's deadpan expression. "It will recharge your batteries."
"I very much doubt it." But it will make Enid happy and for some reason, Wednesday knew the reason but refused to admit she knew, she liked making Enid happy. "Only for a little while." She approached the bed after setting her clean clothes to the side. Enid watched her lie down on her back and then almost jumped to hug her and cuddle up to her. "For a werewolf you are very cat-like."
"Wednesday shhh, cuddle time." Enid was more daring every time. Now she chose to kiss Wednesday's chin. "Salty."
"I was going to take a shower before you trapped me."
Enid shook her head. She was comfy like this. Even if she wanted to Wednesday couldn't push her off. Her arms were crossed over her chest and shoulders and were being pinned by a very affectionate, very colorful werewolf girl. "Enid you've been quite clingy as of late. You were the one telling me I should be more open with my feelings yet every time I ask you to clarify yours my questions get avoided." Enid didn't respond. Just like every other time.
A few minutes of cuddle time became an hour, during which Enid fell asleep. Fantastic.
She might have been scrawny before but wolfing out helped Enid get a more athletic build to her, with a bit more muscle. Which when combined with her supernatural strength made her impossible for Wednesday to shove off.
The Seer wiggled her hands free from under the pink sweater and patted Enid on the back. "Enid wake up." No, Enid cuddled up closer. "I'm warning you once. Or else I will cut open all of your stuffed animals." Enid's wolf ears twitched right after emerging but she was still asleep. Instead of getting up her body now fully lay on top of Wednesday's. "What an ill behaved puppy."
Said puppy had claws and fangs and the strength of a bodybuilder, not to mention stubbornness. "No... leave... my..." And she was also in the middle of a nightmare.
Ugh. How annoying. Not the fact that Enid was having a bad dream but the fact that there was no one to comfort her but Wednesday. Thing was out on a brief book supply run, usually this would be his job. It wasn't that Wednesday didn't care about her roommate, it was that she cared too much in her opinion. And had no idea how to express it or how to comfort Enid in this moment of need.
The only thing she could think of was a hug, but she's not good at those either. As it would seem it was enough to calm Enid down.
"Mate... not alone..." Perhaps Wednesday was wrong, perhaps it wasn't a nightmare but a wishful dream.
"Enid, there's a spider in your hair." Enid reacted right away, her body jumping up and arching, looking for a sign of danger as one hand combed through her hair. "Oh, it's gone now."
"That's not funny Wends!" The wolf bared her fangs at her before she sat down and crossed her arms. "Did I fall asleep for too long? Sorry about that."
"You were moving around. I thought it was a nightmare you were having. But then you mentioned a mate and simply refuse to subject myself to a lovesick puppy's fantasies." As Wednesday stretched her arms and legs she could still feel Enid's eyes following her every move. "Cannot say I'm surprised you would think of such a thing. Wolfs are pack animals after all and you spoke of wanting to find a mate before."
"I have." Enid's face flushed and she looked away for a moment. "There have been... more offers than I'm used to lately."
Wednesday narrowed her eyes. She knew Enid was popular before, if she was your type anyway. Pretty, bubbly, chatty, protective, with many connections, smart, loyal. A fool would pass her up. "I wouldn't spare a glance at those who only started wanting you after you wolfed out. It is very likely they're nothing but horndogs looking to capitalize on your achievements."
"Are you offering me love advice?" Enid attempted to hide her amusement.
"Merely stating a fact. If they didn't want you before then they missed out already. No point in indulging them when they couldn't see the person you were before. You shouldn't give them any attention."
"Wednesday Addams are you jealous?" Enid leaned in close with a huge grin and sparkling eyes full of said amusement.
"Hardly. You are... my friend and I will gladly murder anyone who tries to take advantage of your good nature for their own pleasure and gain." Wednesday hated emotions, hers most of all since they were the hardest to deal with. Best to leave them in the far back of her mind where they can't mess with her everyday life.
But then why was it still so hard to look at Enid in the eye without blushing?
"Hm. I think you're not being completely honest with me. If you like any one of them you can have them, I won't get in your way." Wait... what now? Wednesday almost broke her neck from the speed she turned back to look at Enid.
The werewolf was grinning but she was also carefully pulling at her pink sweater. "It is they who are in my way." Wednesday whispered after a few moments of silence. She knew Enid could hear her. "You want me to be honest?"
Enid gulped but nodded, remaining firmly seated. Her face began to burn as she thought of Wednesday's words. She couldn't get ahead of herself though, it was to early.
"You are very clingy and insist on invading my personal space. It was extremely annoying at first, so much in fact that I had several methods in mind of making sure you don't so much as move without my permission. Then, before I realized it was happening I had... grown used to you being with me, next to me, holding my hand, talking my ear of, hugging me, cuddling and welcoming me back. I've also been missing those things when they don't occur." Wednesday watched as Enid blushed more and more and could feel her own face was the same. "Enid you are someone irreplaceable in my life. No matter how much I want to deny it that is a fact. So yes I am jealous, I absolutely despise seeing others attempt to court you so poorly and so frequently."
Enid's mouth opened but no words came out. She was rarely speechless. But it gave Wednesday the chance to look at the sharp fangs. "Oh my god. Oh my fucking god! Oh god!" The blonde jumped from the bed and started pacing around the room.
Wednesday watched her strange behavior. "Was I not clear enough?"
"No! I mean yeah! Yes, I totally get what you mean!" Her fingers scratched the scars on her face, very visible from her blush. "You're in love with me." Enid whispered when she finally met Wednesday's dark eyes.
"I believe so. I've never felt an emotion so strong and for an Addams there is no stronger emotion than love. Pretty pathetic if you ask me but such is our curse." She always hated that about her family. "I always thought I could avoid it but it has caught up to me as well. You being so close all the time and sharing your affections so openly made my own feelings hard to ignore."
Wednesday closed the distance between the two of them. A distance that Enid tried to increase as she began to panic about the closeness.
"Therefore you will have to assume responsibility for bringing me to such a state." Wednesday boxed Enid in against the door. Enid kept looking between Wednesday's hands to her lips. Was this a threat? Or a confession? "To begin with I would like a kiss."
"K-Kiss?! We're not even dating! You don't even know how I feel!"
"You wear your emotions on your sleeve. As I said you are very openly affectionate. Not in a typical friendly way, unless you frequently hold Yoko's hand and ask to fall asleep next to her at night and call her name in your sleep." The last one was on the newer side of things but it made Wednesday's whole body tingle when she realized Enid was dreaming about her so often.
Enid looked scandalized, as pale as a ghost. "I don't! It's just you, please don't kill my best friend!" She paused after she realized her own confession.
"I would not kill her. Only challenge her to a duel and win. However there's no need for that is there, Enid?" Wednesday inched closer, her fingers brushing Enid's hair out of the way.
"W-Wedns... are you... is this your...?" Enid couldn't stop her tail from wagging slightly.
"First kiss? No, I had one with Tyler before." The sound of his name seemed to put Enid on edge. Her eyes narrowed and Wednesday got another good look at those glorious wolf fangs. "Now who is the jealous one? It looks quite stunning on you. If it makes you feel any better I don't think it was a very good kiss. His lips were quite-"
Enid growled at a distance normal people would find frightening. Wednesday was never happier to be as far from normal as one could get. "Don't talk about him when I'm about to kiss you. You're ruining the mood." She leaned forward to kiss the shorter girl who eagerly accepted.
Wednesday never understood what her parents meant when they spoke of love and romance and affection. It was a foreign concept until this very moment. She tasted sugary sweet bubblegum, she felt softness, she smelled a scent so nice it should make her gag yet she wanted more. "I want more too."
A shocked gasp escaped Wednesday quickly and as she pushed away she was met with Enid's grinning face. "I... didn't realize I said that."
"Mhm, you're pretty cute when you get wrapped up in something and you mumble about it sometimes. But I don't always get it cause it's not in English. Still cute." Enid nuzzled her nose against Wednesday's as a show of love. "Can I call you my girlfriend now? Or my mate? I know it's a bit early and we just kissed but I think we work great together and as your mate I'd work even harder to-"
Wednesday kissed her again, her hands grasping at Enid's shirt and pulling her closer once more. "Enid. You talk too much."
"People usually think it's one of my more charming points." Enid grumbled with a little pout.
"It is, I love hearing you talk. However other people don't kiss you, I do and I can't do so if you keep talking." That was a sound enough argument to get Enid to stop talking for the rest of the night. But as soon as morning came and Wednesday entered the classroom she was greeted with looks and smirks. "Enid said something didn't she?"
