In the room they shared, Catra was lying on the bed with her ears drooping, her tail wagging lazily. He had spent a quiet and somewhat boring afternoon, waiting for Adora and Scorpia to return. Her amber eyes scanned the ceiling, searching for any distraction.
Just then, the door banged open and Glimmer walked in, visibly agitated. Her face was shining with excitement, and her pink hair was somewhat disheveled, probably from a recent teleportation.
"Catra, you won't believe what I saw!" she exclaimed, almost out of breath.
Catra sat up slightly, raising an eyebrow. "Anything worthwhile?" she responded with feigned disinterest, though her curiosity was beginning to pique.
"Yes! I was taking a walk in the garden, and I saw Adora and Mermista..." Glimmer paused, reveling in the suspense. "They were so close! Laughing, talking, and Adora said something like 'I love how you shine when you smile'. It was so romantic!"
Catra was silent for a moment, her feline eyes shining with a dangerous spark. "Romantic, huh?" Her words were soft, but loaded with a threatening tone.
Glimmer, noticing the change in the atmosphere, bit her lower lip. "Well, it's not like they were... you know... But there was definitely something... something suspicious."
Catra's eyes drifted to the kitchen table, where several knives rested. With a smile that could chill her blood, she stood up and walked over, taking one of the knives and beginning to spin it between her fingers with disturbing dexterity.
Glimmer swallowed, beginning to back away. "Catra...maybe you shouldn't...you know, do anything drastic."
Catra let out a soft giggle, which sounded more like a menacing purr. "Don't worry, Glimmer. I'm just thinking about tonight's menu. I think it would be interesting to try... Mermista's sushi."
Glimmer's eyes widened in horror. "That's not what you think! I mean, you can't just..."
Just then, the door opened again and Scorpia walked in, with her usual energy and wide smile. Her claws moved excitedly, and her eyes shone with her typical joy. "Hey girls! What are you talking about?"
Catra twirled the knife one last time and then held it in one hand, looking at Scorpia with a mischievous expression. "I was thinking about a special dinner. Sushi from Mermista."
Scorpia blinked, clearly confused. "Sushi from Mermista? Wow! I didn't know Mermista was such a talented cook. Is she going to teach us how to make sushi?"
Glimmer, still in a state of panic, ran to Scorpia and hurriedly whispered in her ear, explaining Catra's misunderstanding and her imminent danger.
Scorpia's eyes widened as she listened, and her smile faded, replaced by a look of concern. "Oh no, Catra, wait! You can't do that to Mermista. I'm sure Adora was just being nice. She's like that with everyone!"
Catra shrugged, her gaze still fixed on her knife. "No one comes close to my Adora and she comes out alive."
Scorpia, realizing the seriousness of the situation, rushed to stop Catra before she could do anything reckless. "Come on, Catra! You know Adora loves you. Why don't we go and ask her instead of...well, you know, making sushi?"
Catra blinked, her thoughts clouded by anger and jealousy. But Scorpia's voice, always so reasonable and warm, managed to penetrate her fury. "Hmpf...I guess you're right," she muttered, although she clearly wasn't completely convinced.
Glimmer breathed a sigh of relief, and together with Scorpia, she began to guide Catra towards the garden, where Adora and Mermista were sitting on a bench, laughing and talking. As she approached, Adora looked up and smiled brightly, but that smile faded when she saw Catra's expression and the knife in her hand.
"Catra, what's wrong?" Adora asked, clearly confused and worried.
Catra stopped a few steps away from Adora, her eyes narrowed. "Glimmer said that she saw you with Mermista, and that you were...close." The word came out as a growl.
Mermista, sensing the misunderstanding, raised her hands in a sign of peace. "Whoa, Catra! There's nothing to worry about. We were talking about our eccentricities in our relationships. We were comparing funny stories."
Adora nodded vigorously, approaching Catra cautiously. "Yes, Catra, Mermista was telling me about the weird things Sea Hawk does. I promise there's nothing between us!"
Catra looked Adora in the eyes, searching for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity and concern. Slowly, her knife fell from her hand, and her posture relaxed.
"So... there's nothing between you two?" Catra asked, her voice softer, almost vulnerable.
Adora approached and took her hands, looking at her with a mixture of love and tenderness. "No, Catra. You know that you and Scorpia mean everything to me. You don't have to worry about anyone else."
Scorpia, who had been watching the scene with her heart in her mouth, finally allowed herself to relax. She walked over and hugged both girls with her big arms, lifting them off the ground in a bear hug. "Oh, girls, I'm so glad everything is okay! And Catra, I'm glad you decided not to make Mermista sushi. Although... Mermista, do you know how to make real sushi? We might try that one day."
Mermista let out a nervous laugh, still recovering from the shock. "Well, I guess I can try it. But maybe not as a main ingredient."
Everyone laughed, the atmosphere became light again. Catra, still in Scorpia's arms, looked at Adora with a mixture of love and apology. "I'm sorry, Adora. I got carried away."
Adora gently caressed her face. "It's okay, Catra. Just promise me that the next time you have questions, you'll talk to me first."
Catra nodded, feeling a warmth in her chest. "I promise."
Scorpia gently lowered them, and then looked at everyone with a big smile. "Well, I think it's time for dinner. How about we leave the sushi for another day and order a pizza?"
They all agreed, and with the dangerous misunderstanding cleared up, they headed toward the kitchen, laughing and joking. As they walked, Catra took Adora's hand, and Scorpia put an arm around them both, enjoying the company of her beloved.
In the kitchen, while they were preparing the table for pizza, Catra couldn't help but laugh at the situation. "Of all things, Mermista's sushi. What was she thinking?"
Adora kissed him on the cheek. "Well, I'm glad you didn't. I like it better when you're happy, not jealous."
Catra smiled, feeling the warmth of her companions around her. "I'll try, Adora. But I'll always remember: no one messes with my Adora and stays to tell the tale."
Scorpia and Adora laughed, and Mermista, from across the table, raised a glass of juice. "Here's to that! And to not being turned into sushi."
Everyone raised their glasses and toasted, laughing. The love and friendship they shared was stronger than any misunderstanding, and that night they celebrated with pizza and laughter.
