Waking up early wasn't all that fun for Abel, especially when he was woken up by what sounded like a massive church bell. However, the sound itself came from a tablet placed on his work desk which Abel was sure hadn't been there when he went to sleep. So, he got up out of bed and walked towards the device and saw a note attached to it.
[This tablet now belongs to you, and it has everything you need to fully acclimatize to your new environment in the school. Class schedules, tutoring sessions, alarms, social networks and so on.
This tablet will be essential to your daily life here in Massachusetts Academy for gifted mutants. Learn it well and look in the gallery. It holds your instructional video as a new student.
Sincerely, Headmistress Frost.]
"Wow, this place must be serious about education." Abel said before he picked up the tablet and started messing with it to get an understanding of the system it used before, he opened the gallery app and saw the only file that contained his introduction video of the school.
The video lasted fifteen minutes and was extremely detailed about school rules, regulations, expectations and so on. He also saw that in the same video file was a downloaded picture of his class schedule which told him that classes would be starting soon.
So, after gathering some clothes from the closet, Abel made his way to the shower room where he put his clothes away in an empty locker before cutting on one of the showers after grabbing some soap as he decided to get clean and look proper for his first day of school.
The bullet wound in his shoulder didn't hurt when the hot water and soap touched it. It stung a bit but not nearly enough to cause him any worry, until he scrubbed the wound. That was when it started to hurt, but Abel cleaned it anyway since he didn't want to get an infection.
"How's the war wound?" A familiar voice asked before Abel noticed that next to him with his upper body towering over the privacy stalls of the showers was none other than the Hellion known as Beef.
"You are a tall dude." Abel blurted out causing the man to laugh.
"You ain't wrong. You won't believe how much it costs me to order special custom-made clothes for my giant size. The name's Buford Wilson."
"I'm Abel Van-Helsing and thanks for the save the other day. I'd probably be dead if you and the other Hellion's hadn't shown up."
"Don't mention it. Besides that, village you came from must have been locked in the dark ages or something. Old timey weapons and literal muskets. They weren't a threat to me." Buford said before he grabbed a comically oversized sponge full of soap and started to scrub himself while Abel did the same with a normal sized rag.
After the quick shower along with brushing his teeth and what not. Abel got dressed in the Massachusetts Academy uniform of a black long-sleeved shirt underneath a silver blazer lined with cushioned white fur, black dress pants with brown dress shoes on his feet.
This was the school uniform during the cold season apparently. Buford was dressed in the same uniform but one benefiting his incredible size.
"I'm guessing you're the reason that a lot of doors here are so huge." Abel joked while Buford smirked as he combed his hair.
"I'm starting to think you might be jealous of me tiny. Always talkin' about my size and shit."
"I'm just making conversation. Besides I can't be the first person to talk to you about this stuff."
"He's right about that Beef." Another voice said causing both teens to look to the right and see the Hellion, known as Empath aka Manuel de la Rocha, who was also dressed in the school uniform with a scowl on his face. "But last time I checked, this isn't the girl's locker room, so let's can it with the gossip."
"Whatever." Buford replied with an eyeroll before Manuel set his eyes on Abel.
"Watch yourself newbie. We didn't save you just so you can become a new corpse. You've already got some people in the school gunning for you as the new meat." Manuel said before he left the locker room while other teens started to pile in.
"Talk about a learning curve." Abel said before he and Buford left the locker room and headed towards their individual classes.
The classes themselves were rather difficult in simple terms and ranged from advanced mathematics to biology and proper elegance at a dinner table at one of the type of restaurants that costs thousands of dollars. But to be fair, Abel did manage to grind up a bit in the process.

"So many skills to level up." Abel groaned before thinking about something extremely important as he wandered the halls of the school, but before he could voice his thoughts, he saw a game screen appear before him.
[Don't worry, your 'true' origins in this universe are shielded from the views of others, however 'Divine' tier beings can override this protection so be careful.
Also, nobody else can see the 'System' you interact with unless you invite them into a 'Party' and allow them to see it.]
Abel breathed a sigh of relief before he quickly changed into his gym clothes of a white T-shirt with black shorts and sneakers as he entered the gym class.
"Alright, listen up brats. Some of you are new to this school and others aren't. So, I'll go over how this is going to work as an introduction and as a refresher incase anyone forgot about how I run things." The gym teacher said loudly to the gathered students. "The name is Inez Temple and I'm going to be whipping all of you into shape. Nobody uses powers in this gym and for those whose powers work autonomously, you'll be given specific exercises to work within your specific abilities in order for things to be fair."
Nobody said a word as Inez spoke while sporting a simple red and white tracksuit outfit but instead of admiring her figure, everyone looked on at the various dog tags that have been attached to the uniform. Most out of curiosity while others knew that the dog tags came from the soldiers Inez had killed as a mercenary.
"Now, let's start with laps around the gym." Inez said before taking out a stopwatch before putting all the teens to work in the gym.
You've gained 3 STR!
You've gained 3 END!
"That was brutal." Abel complained while laying down on an empty bench in the locker room with a towel over his face.
"Yeah, that's Ms. Temple for you." Abel's gym partner said before lightly moving Abel's legs off the bench so he could sit while he had a towel over his head. This young man is Samuel Zachery.
"Is today a special day for her or is this normal?"
"Nah, today she was extra intense because of the new influx of students. Besides you didn't do too bad. Hell, you did better than Beak." Samuel said as Abel removed the towel and the two of them gazed at the mutant teen known as Beak aka Barnell Bohusk who was puking into the garbage can.
Sadly, Beak got paired up with Buford for physical fitness training and given his unique mutation…Barnell wasn't exactly setting any weightlifting records…The fact that he got pulled out of the room by nurse Lorna didn't help either.
"You okay Barnell?" Abel asked the teen who raised his head and wiped his beak shaped mouth with his towel.
"No…I hate Buford so much right now." Barnell said before lurching over again and puking once more.
"The guy means well Beak…He just doesn't have any damn restraint. Remember the sparring session he had with Chamber?" Samuel asked before Barnell raised his head and wiped himself again now that his stomach didn't have any contents left in it that could be ejected.
"Yeah…We had to clean up a lot of broken floorboards and shit."
"Seriously? Also, why does everyone in this school have a codename even if we aren't all members of the Hellion's?" Abel asked in confusion since the people of the school all seemed to have a codename that belonged to them, and he doubted that Emma gave each individual student a new name.
"Mutant names are a badge of honor dude. Shitloads of people call us all kinds of shit, so we make our own names for ourselves as a piece of armor or something that helps us talk back against the world." Samuel said back, causing Barnell and Abel to look at him with some mild confusion for a moment.
"That was surprisingly well throughout for you."
"Fuck you, Beak. I'm always thinking about what I say." Samuel replied with a mild but not serious glare.
"Still, make me think that I've got to start coming up with a name for myself." Abel said to himself before he properly cleaned himself up and changed into his school clothes before the trio of newly formed friends went on with the rest of their day and soon enough Abel was resting in his room at his work desk getting some of his homework done before he heard a knock at his room door.
"Who's that?" Abel asked before getting up from his desk and opening his door to see the red headed Angelica Jones in the female school uniform. Basically, the uniforms were identical except Angelica wore a skirt with thick leggings to protect her from the cold.
"Hi. Ms. Frost wanted me to come and get you for training drills." Angelica said while holding out her hand to shake. Abel returned the hand gesture in kind before asking his question.
"Training drill for what? I thought Ms. Temple hated students looking for extra credit or extra tutoring."
"She does but that was because an idiot tried to seduce her, which got him kicked out of school with a…Injured body and mind to say the least. Anyway, Ms. Frost wanted you to train with other possible recruits as extra members of the Hellion's team. But that's only if you're interested of course." Angelica said which triggered another quest screen to appear.
Main Story Quest!
Name: Join or Reject the Hellions.
You have a unique chance to alter your fate by either joining the Hellions or rejecting the offer. Both routes have unique quests and options for advancement.
Optional Objective 1: Accept the invitation and join the Hellions.
Optional Objective 2: Reject the offer and see what happens.
Rewards: Dependent on which action you take.
This quest has been automatically accepted.
"Joining the Hellions does sound pretty cool, and I want to get to know you guys after you saved my life. So, sure. I'm down."
"Awesome. Just come with me to the Danger room." Angelica said before leading Abel away from the dorms as Abel also noticed the time and that it was nearing curfew hours. When they made it to a secret elevator, Abel noticed how deep the school went as the Hellions actual combat training and what not seems to happen underground.
The elevator stopped and Abel looked on at the reinforced steel corridor of a hallway with branching doors leading to the left and right, but down the center of the corridor was two large steel doors with what appeared to be reinforced locking mechanisms keeping the doors shut.
"Here's the changing room for you boys. You'll have a spare suit waiting for you in one of the free lockers. Get changed and we can head inside." Angelica said before going off to the girls' changing room and Abel didn't waste time before he entered the men's changing room and changed into the black and purple bodysuit with black boots and gloves on his hands.
The suit felt strong and durable along with being a bit heavy which told Abel that it was reinforced with some kind of mesh lining or something for protective reasons. When he left the changing room, he saw Angelica who had also changed but she had a green domino mask over her eyes.
"Ready?"
"As ready as I can be. But just a heads-up. My powers aren't very strong." Abel replied before they went to the large reinforced locked doors. Specifically, they went to the digital display pad near the left of the door and when Angelica hit one of the buttons, the pad released some kind of facial scanner that was a sharp sapphire blue color and scanned both Angelica's and Abel's faces before an automated female voice was head from the device.
"Facial scans accepted. Firestar of the Hellions has been granted access. Abel, a possible recruit for the Hellions has been granted access. Unlocking outer doors."
The heavy locks on the doors released clunky sounds as they unlocked. The sounds of gears and mechanisms turning and unlocked went on for a few seconds before the doors opened revealing a massive room that Abel assumed must have been half the size of a football stadium.
The room was vast and lined with more cold steel with a large viewing box near the ceiling of the eastern wall but in the center of the room near the door was the Hellions along with possible additions to the team and staff members.
The Hellions consisted of Firestar, Empath, Catseye, Beef, Thunderbird, Roulette, and Bevatron. Each outfitted in the Hellions field gear.
The staff members present were of course Emma Frost along with Lorna, Inez, Paul Provenzano, and Forge.
The recruits are Clarice Ferguson, Samuel, Cessily Kincaid, Hisako Ichiki and Abel himself.
Abel was honestly surprised by the size of the fully gathered team, but he also felt a bit out of place. Especially given the fact that he only talked to Sam and Buford.
"Good, were all here." Emma started when Abel and Angelica joined the other teens who stood across from the adults. "All of you have proven yourselves worthy of helping us fight against injustice, against bigotry and hatred that has unfortunately been escalating in recent months with groups like the Purifiers. In some way or another, you all have felt the sting of mutant hatred, and you are being brought together as a team to help show the world that we aren't the monsters that they think we are."
"Some of you have been trained at this school for a while, but most of you are still newbies to the battlefield. Today we aren't doing any individual training. Instead, all of you will be training as a team to not only perfect your strengths, but also improve your weaknesses and learn how to trust and rely on one another." Paul explained when Emma had stopped her speech.
"Clarice you are a recruit but without your powers we wouldn't have been able to help rescue Abel. Your portals are impressive, but you still need to train as well. I won't tolerate any no shows or excuses. You get away with that enough in my normal gym class, but here we are going to train you in life-or-death combat and simply not feeling well isn't going to cut it." Inez scolded Clarice who looked down at her feet with a mild grimace of embarrassment.
"Today were going to start things off by breaking into pairs and working on hand-to-hand combat in the martial art of Systema." Paul announced before Forge and Emma left the Danger room and allowed Inez and Paul to take over the training while they traveled to and looked out of the balcony like room that showed the inside of the Danger room itself through its thick protective glass.
[You have started a 'Training Course' mission. These missions are unmarked but still give you experience as well as allowing you to create skills or level up skills without the need of a skill book or skill points.]
Abel didn't stare at the screen for too long and instead focused up when he got paired up against Cessily who seemed nice enough but was at an advantage in hand-to-hand combat since her body was literally organic metal.
"Sorry, but my powers don't come with an off switch." Cessily said bluntly since she long since knew the look of curiosity that Abel was currently showing.
"I didn't mean to stare or anything. Besides, who knows what or who I'll have to fight later on. Sparring against a tough girl like you is going to help me learn how to defend myself against people stronger than me."
Cessily smirked at that before she attacked Abel. Who put up his best possible attempt at defending himself during the exercise. The martial art Systema didn't have a set kata or anything like a traditional martial art which meant that there was a lot of room for trial and error along the way. Inez and Paul gave pointers and instructions, but Abel simply felt at a loss and soon ended up laying flat on his back on the ground after receiving a strong spartan kick which knocked all the air out of his lungs.
"Oh, Crap-baskets. I didn't mean to hit you that hard." Cessily quickly said before helping Abel up to his feet.
"Don't worry about it." Abel choked out while holding his chest a bit. "Let's just keep it up. An enemy won't care if I get hurt or not during a fight."
Abel resumed his stance before the duo continued their spar along with the rest of the team before things moved onto teamwork drills and power exercises curtesy of the Danger room itself changing and shifting due to the holographic technology that it used, and the group found themselves in a place like the Grand Canyon where they used artificially generated rocks and spires as makeshift test dummies for their powers.
Abel got to truly learn just how much he could do with his telekinesis as he lifted small yet heavy rocks and threw them into the air for Angelica to blast with her radiation-based heat powers. Abel slowly kept increasing the weight of the rocks he lifted along with trying to throw them higher and farther into the air to train himself and Angelica's powers. It was difficult but necessary for growth.

"Alright, that should do it for the training right now. All of you hit the showers and rest up." Inez ordered as soon as the training session came to an end and the group of teens headed off to the various locker rooms before changing clothes and heading back to their separate dorms.

"Your powers are developing at an impressive speed, Abel." Emma complimented telepathically since she and Abel were both in the training room along with the other Hellions. Emma took it upon herself to help train Abel's telepathy and she was legitimately impressed with how good Abel had been getting.
Both had their eyes closed as they were inside a mental projection of a tea shop. Abel wasn't strong enough to create such a place within the mind yet, but he was getting better at being able to keep a sturdy mental connection to communicate with people via his mental powers.
"I'm doing my best, Ms. Frost. Learning about Telepathy itself is confusing to say the least."
"I certainly can be. Which is why I like to help guide telepaths like yourself in this school. An untrained mind with powers like ours can be a dangerous thing. So, I prefer to air on the side of caution."
"So, why a tea shop?"
"Is it not to your liking? This is just a London shop I happened to enjoy."
"It's nothing like that. I just pictured you more as a wine or coffee person."
Emma let out a chuckle at Abel's blunt reply and found the honesty rather refreshing.
"A word of caution I have for you is that you might want to avoid letting your mind wander too much. An unfocused mind in a landscape like this could allow another telepath to steal some sensitive information from you without you realizing it."
The telepathy session went on for a while longer with Abel and Emma engaged in simple conversation along with her giving Abel some pointers on how to refine and strengthen his mental power. However, the training session had been cut short when their shared connection suddenly shattered, and Emma shot to her feet while Abel was a bit dazed from the shock he experienced.
"Paul was ending training early today. Send everyone to their rooms now." Emma ordered and Paul didn't disobey. So, after leaving the Danger room and getting dressed in his normal school clothes, Abel laid down on his bed in his room with confusion about why training had ended so quickly and seemingly out of nowhere.
Then out of nowhere someone was knocking on his door again.
"Hold on." Abel said loudly before answering the door and he saw none other than Cessily holding what looked like a shopping bag full of stuff.
"Angelica told me what room you're in. Now, follow me." Cessily said with a blank expression on her metallic face and since he had nothing else to do, Abel followed the metal girl after locking up his room.
The two of them snuck out of the school grounds before ending up on a large snowy hill with a small campfire along with a table, a few chairs and a small chest like box.
"I come here sometimes to get my head straight and think about shit. And while I was here, I decided to apologize to you for kicking your ass so hard." Cessily said before reaching into her grocery bag and took out a cola for Abel who took it and started drinking it while Cessily took out her own cola as well. Both teens sat down in the wooden chairs while looking down at the school below in relative silence aside from the occasional owl hooting or wild rabbits running between the trees.
"You didn't have to do this. Training isn't supposed to be an easy thing."
"I know that, but I'm liquid metal. I can trade blows with Beef of all people and he's possibly the strongest in the school. Plus, training with our powers wasn't any better. I can make my hands and legs into blades and stuff while all you could do was barely lift me out of the ground, and your telepathy couldn't even phase me." Cessily said back with a sigh before moving her thumbs over her cola bottle nervously.
"It is a bit unfair, but the teachers must have done it for a good reason. Besides, it's not like I'm mad at you or anything."
"Why aren't you?" Cessily asked with agitation which confused the young gamer.
"What?"
"My powers. I'm not like the other Hellions. I hurt people even when I'm not trying to. I held back my punches as hard as I could, but I still ended up tossing you around whenever you couldn't dodge me. You keep getting hurt because of my stupid powers, so why don't you hate me like other people?" Cessily asked before crushing the soda bottle in her hand as the soft drink spilled onto the snow through her metallic fingers. "Is it because you're curious about my metal body? Do you want to try humping liquid mercury?" Cessily asked sarcastically with venom in her voice.
"It's nothing like that!" Abel said back with his own voice raised. "There are mutants on earth who could wipe contents off the map and as a Hellion I'm supposed to help stop them and shit. So, why the hell would I be mad at you when you've never seriously tried to hurt me? I'm not some insecure dickhead."
Both teens looked at each other for a moment before turning back towards the school.
"When I first got my powers…I hurt people. I didn't know what was going on, but I did hurt them, and people hated me for it. I was hiding under my bed when my powers first manifested and when my dad tried to reach for my hand, I grabbed it and shattered the bones in his hand as if they were made from gram crackers…My mother was screaming so much. Emma found my family and my parents thought it would be best for me if I leave…I'm used to people hating me. I almost expect it from everyone now."
"The other Hellions don't hate you. Were a team." Abel replied while Cessily chuckled.
"We work together as a team, but we aren't all friends or nice people. Just look at Manuel."
"What does that mean?" Abel asked in confusion before Cessily gave him a raised eyebrow of confusion.
"Forget I said anything."
Quest Alert!
Name: Discover the truth of Empath
Cessily has unintentionally leaked out some dangerous information about a teammate and you need to figure out what is going on.
Objective 1: Discover what Empath is hiding.
Objective 2: Alert Ms. Frost and the other Hellions about the discovery.
Rewards: 1,000 XP, Increased REP with the Hellions Faction!
Do you accept this quest? Y/N?
Abel mentally accepted the quest before finishing his soda.
"When my powers first manifested, my entire village tried to kill me. My shoulder is still fucked up from when I got shot, but my body recovers fast. It's a slow working healing factor, but now my shoulder only hurts if I move it a certain way. My family didn't get so lucky though. My fellow villagers killed them because of me, and the kicker is that I didn't even do anything horrible. I didn't kill anyone or hurt a random person for money." Abel explained before looking up at the sky and seeing the dozens of stars. "People will always find reasons to hate one another, but that shouldn't mean that we should hate ourselves. We should try to be better and show compassion and kindness to each other instead of trying to tear each other down."
Cessily looked at Abel before she decided to look up at the stars as well. The stars shined bright over the heads of the two teens who took the time to talk to each other.
"You're not a bad person Abel. So, I'll let you in on what I said about Empath earlier." Cessily said with heavy breath. "My mutation makes me near immune to telepathy and mind powers, but the other Hellions aren't as lucky. When Empath stepped up as the official leader of the team, I noticed things changing. Everyone started acting differently. Even Ms. Frost wasn't immune to whatever Empath is doing."
"What do you mean?" Abel asked in a serious tone before turning his head to look at Cessily.
"The Hellions started acting superior and cold to everyone. The five-in-one clones became more hostile to people. The teachers give them easier lessons. The training isn't as intense as it used to be. And everyone listens to Manuel and normally does whatever he says. The teachers and Ms. Frost don't, but they strongly advise that people follow Manuel's orders. It's like he has everyone brainwashed and that's not even the worst things I think he's done."
"Why didn't you say anything sooner? Or try to snap the others out of whatever control he has over everyone?" Abel asked before Cessily narrowed her eyes.
"I tried. I've tried talking to everyone and I even tried fighting the other Hellions, but nothing worked, and Manuel convinced everyone to give me another chance if I promise to behave from now on." Cessily replied before dropping her bag on the ground. "As far as I can tell, you and I are the only ones not under whatever mind control he's put the school under."
"I did think that Manuel was a dick, but I didn't think he'd be some supervillain. The question is what can we even do?"
"I don't know. The best we can possibly hope for is getting Ms. Frost or the clones to break free of mind control so they can help us. Manuel might be a strong telepath, but his hand-to-hand skills suck ass. He barely even tries. But another issue is getting past the Hellions. If he suspects something, he'll probably try to kill us. I've already been a victim of a few accidents in school revolving around the Danger room." Cessily explained before Abel stood up with his fists balled up in anger.
"This seriously pisses me off. But we can't just rush in without any kind of plan." Abel said back to the metallic teen before he took a few deep breaths and calmed himself down. "So, is that the real reason why you brought me this far away from the school?"
"Yeah, but I did want to give you an apology and get some of that stuff of my damn chest. Can't exactly show emotional weakness in a hive full of tiger wasps." Cessily replied before taking some breaths of her own. "So, do you have any ideas on how we can save the school?"
"Not really. But anything you can tell me would help me come up with something." Abel replied before Cessily talked about what she knew about the school in its entirety.

Quest Modification!
Abel dismissed the screen since he already knew that his quest to learn about Manuel had been altered based on the information he had been given. The issue is how could he possibly pull off this crazy plan of his without getting caught and possibly killed by a mind enslaving sociopath.
Abel gathered his school clothes and was about to make his way to the locker room when another person knocked on his door.
"Does anyone not need something from me?" Abel asked before looking down at his pajama pants and shirt before shrugging as he opened the door and froze.
Standing in front of him was none other than Manuel himself with Angelica behind him and he wore a cocky smile on his face.
"Hi, Abel. We need to have a little chat." Manuel said before Abel felt something tugging at his mind.
[Your emotional state is currently being manipulated. Your skill in [Telepathy] as well as your [WIS] score has rebuffed the manipulation attempt.]
"Sure thing." Abel replied without missing the small look of shock and mild anger when Manuel saw that his powers hadn't taken hold of him.
"Come with me." Manuel said before turning around while he placed his hand dangerously low on Angelica's hip before he kissed her on the mouth while walking the halls with Abel tagging behind them.
Abel was disgusted at what he was seeing. A mind controlling rapist and sociopath was right in front of him and Abel had to control his emotions to avoid tipping Manuel off.
[Your [Telepathy] and [WIS] score have rebuffed the mental intrusion and manipulation of the [Emotional Manipulation] debuff.]
Manuel didn't stop with his attempts and each time Abel had to ignore the light stinging he felt in the back of his mind before the trio made their way into the nurse's office where they saw Lorna speaking with Sharon Smith aka Catseye.
"What brings you all here this morning?" Lorna asked with a yawn before sitting on a stool.
"Nothing much. We just decided to ask for your help in coming up with a suitable nickname for our newest recruit. Ms. Frost wants to add his alias into the Danger room passcode." Manuel explained before Lorna looked over at Abel.
"Is that right?"
"Yeah. It's time I picked out a name for myself. Or I guess it's time for you to help me come up with a cool name." Abel replied with a chuckle.
"I don't get paid enough for this shit." Lorna said with a groan before placing a hand over her eyes. "Why don't you call yourself Zero or something?"
"Zero?" Abel asked with a blunt expression.
"I'm not some fancy naming machine kid. Take what you can get."
"Fine, I guess I'm going with Zero from now on." Abel said before a brand-new screen appeared.
[You have gained the title of [Zero].]
Abel could practically feel the vain throbbing in his forehead but instead he focused on the mission at hand.
"I was actually meaning to come here on my own, Ms. Lorna. My powers suddenly stopped working right and I was wondering if there was anything you could do to help?" Abel asked while Lorna removed her hand from her face and hummed in thought.
"Well, it's a good thing you came here then. I'll have to speak with Ms. Frost about treatment later but right now I can give you something to help stabilize your powers." Lorna explained before Abel took a seat on an empty medical cot.
"Is that necessary?" Manuel asked with his arms crossed while Lorna unlocked the key to a high-tech cabinet.
"It isn't anything overly dangerous. It's blend reengineered from a mutant steroid that hit the streets recently. It isn't nearly as dangerous or potent, but in small doses it has been proven to help stabilize mutant abilities that run amok without the user's control. So, think of it similar to a mood elevator when your too stressed out." Lorna explained before taking out a small medical box that she opened while she motioned for Abel to roll up his sleeve.
"I hate needles." Abel commented before rolling up his sleeve as Lorna cleaned it with a sterilized cotton ball before taking out a needle of a lightish red serum that she injected into Abel.
[You have been placed under the effects of the [Balancer] drug and as a result your mutant abilities have been temporarily boosted to an even number in terms of level.
This effect will wear off in six hours.]
"There. That wasn't so bad. The side effects or minimal but I will warn you that you could experience nausea, sensitivity to airborne pollen or dirt which can lead to severe allergies. Possible cramping as well as issues maintaining your balance during physical activities." Lorna explained while Abel took a deep breath as he felt a strange calming sensation wash over him.
"Thanks doc."
"No problem. Now run along. I've got to send an email to Ms. Frost about this checkup." Lorna said before Abel, Angelica and Manuel left the office.
"Is that everything you wanted?" Abel asked while Manuel had a small scowl.
"For now. Just make sure to keep your head down, Abel. There are some mutants here that don't take kindly to you jumping the line in becoming a Hellion." Manuel warned before he walked away with Angelica by his side.
"Now let's see if this thing actually works." Manuel said before he focused and brought up the party chat screen.

Abel had to admit that this plan was one hell of a long shot. But it was the best chance they had at breaking Empath's control.
Getting wrapped up in this kind of adventure wasn't what Abel had expected when he joined the school, but he sure as hell wasn't going to let a crazy dude turn an entire school of mutants into his own personal playground.

A/N: Things are heating up already and Abel not only made some friends, but he is also already saving the school from danger. That's just the life of a gamer ladies and gentlemen.
