"You did what?" Peter was still processing the fact that Mary Jane decided to go back to her red-and-white duds. "I thought you wanted to be away from being Spinneret."

"Yeah, well, I just feel it's just right thing for me to get back into the costume again," MJ said.

"But why?" Peter asked, still confused by the redhead's change of mind. "What about your play... your career?"

"That doesn't mean the city should be left alone with no one to protect them."

When Peter heard her reasoning, he realized she did have a point; if he left those thugs alone, that poor guy would've ended up in a worse condition than when he found him in, and even if he was done with, the thugs would just pick another innocent victim to prey on again.

Seeing the contemplative look on Peter's face, as she did many times during the course of their relationship together, MJ placed her hand on the side of his cheeks, making sure his blue eyes on her green ones. "I understand these times has been hard on you, but what I'll always love about you is you're the most responsible and caring person I ever met, and I know you'll be able to get through it."

"You really think I can?"

"I wouldn't be with you if you're otherwise, even if we never have these Spider-Powers."

Peter couldn't help but smile for the thoughtful and caring redhead. "Thank you, Mary Jane."

MJ gave a lovely smile of her own as she lowered her arm and wrapped it around the cute nerd's waist, leaning her head close to Peter's shoulder. "I'll always be there for you, Tiger."

Suddenly breaking up the lovely moment, a sheer cry from around the street corner caught the couple's attentions.

"SOMEBODY, HELP! FIRE!"

After they approached to the source of the cry, Peter and MJ's expression turned to horrifyingly shocked as they witnessed the flames engulfing the entirety of the building from top to almost the bottom, illuminating so bright around the dark streets as its smoke was raising to the night sky.

Out of pure instinct, Peter tried to unbutton the top collar of his shirt, but then, he paused when he realized he forgotten he doesn't have his costume anymore.

MJ noticed her boyfriend's expression when he slowly lifted his head back up. She could tell what's going through his thoughts at that moment. "Peter, you don't have your powers."

Peter still kept his eyes on the burning building. "But MJ, I have to do something -" He said grudgingly, before being cut off.

"I know that, Peter, but remember, you don't have your suit either," MJ reminded. "I can handle this. Just stay right here where it's safe, okay?" She then ran for a nearest alleyway, where she could change to her Spinneret suit discreetly.

Despite being told to stay back where it's safe, Peter just couldn't bear to stand by while there could be people still trapped inside. Without any hesitation, he ran up to the burning building by himself.

Just less than a minute after, Spinneret took the high ground and dropped in besides a concerning resident. "Hey, anyone's trapping inside?"

"There was a kid trapped inside on the second floor and some crazy dude with glasses just ran inside to find her," The resident informed, adding along the fact Peter just also entered into the building by himself.

Dammit, Peter! I know I said you're the most responsible, but why do you also have to be so stubborn at a time like this? Spinneret scolded her boyfriend in her deep thoughts. "Okay, I'll get them and anyone else that's trapped in there out safely," She then shot a web at the second-floor window.

"How will you able to-?" The resident expressed skeptically, until he turned to see Spinneret web-pulled herself inside the burning building. "Holy... NO WAY!" Feeling a sense of hope when he saw one of their heroes with them again, he started yelling out loud in relief. "EVERYONE, SHE'S BACK! SPINNERET'S BACK!"

In no time at all, Spinneret smashed through the 2nd floor cracked window of the burning building. She looked around the 2nd floor to see Peter trying to budge open to one of the rooms.

Spinneret ran to Peter's side. "Peter! Are you crazy?! Didn't you heard me about staying where it's safe?!" She scolded him for his reckless decision.

"But I hear a kid in there!" Peter told Spinneret. He then positioned himself for a ramming charge.

Spinneret could already tell what he was about to do, much to her concerns for him. "Peter, I don't think that's a good -" She got cut off by Peter's loud bump into the jammed door with his shoulder, making her cringed as he recoiled away from the door and winced in pain.

Spinneret gave a comfort touch Peter's bruised shoulder. "Let me try," She pulled him away from the door and then threw a hard kick, breaking the jammed door wide open.

After Peter recovered from his bruised shoulder, he ran into the room, disregarding the redhead's warnings. "Just look for other people trapped, too."

"Peter! Wait!" Spinneret tried to convince her stubborn boyfriend, but he already entered into the room to find the kid by himself. She sighed exasperatedly in defeat.

Knowing she won't able to change Peter's mind, Spinneret turned her way to the stairs and web-zipped upwards to searched through any of higher floors for anyone else that was trapped inside.

"Hello?! Is anyone in here?" Spinneret shouted out loud, hoping any trapped victims could hear her.

To her luck, she heard a couple of coughing and panicking, all of which were begging for someone to hear their pleading cries.

As she was getting close to the source of the voices, Spinneret was met by a door on the 4th floor that was barricaded by the fallen debris. Needing them to get out of her way, she shot a few webs at the rubble, pulling them away from her path.

Clearing them out of the way, Spinneret then used her strong kick again to break her way through the door, allowing herself to enter. After thoroughly checking around her fiery surroundings, she spotted a few victims that were surrounded by the flames. "HANG ON!"

Using her speed and maneuver abilities, Spinneret managed to get around the fires and had the victims hanged safely in her arms. "You guys okay?" She asked with her soft, calm voice, wanting to reassure the couple of victims that they'll be alright. Then, the heroine saw the nearest window by the corner of her eye. "Hold on tight, this is gonna be a bumpy ride!"

She quickly ran and did a leap towards it, smashing through the shattered glass, and fired twin web-lines from her wrists, suspending herself and the people holding her arms by just gaps from the street floor.

The people outside of the burning building spoken their gratitude as they were clapping happily for the heroine's return and her spectacular rescue.

Spinneret, after releasing the lucky victims from her arms, looked around the surrounding streets, noticing someone's missing. "Where's the guy with the glasses?"

"He hasn't come back out yet," The one of the residents said. "Wait, you didn't... ?"

Spinneret turned her back to the burning building, realizing her boyfriend's still inside looking for with the kid that was trapped. "Oh no," In a quick flash, she quickly web-zipped back into the floor Peter was on.

Upon smashing her way back into the burning building, Spinneret immediately saw Peter hanging onto the ledge of a broken floor with one hand while having a little girl, who didn't look any older than three years old, held on tight in his other arm. "Peter!"

She ran hastily to Peter and the little girl's aid. "Hold on!" Spinneret exclaimed.

"Wait!" Peter struggled to hold on to the little girl. "Save her first!"

Knowing he's right, Spinneret quickly grabbed the girl as Peter tried to lift her up out of the fiery ditch with his one hand. As she placed the little girl safely next to her side, she turned back to Peter, who was still struggling to hold on for his dear life. "Take my hand!"

Peter barely able to raise his one arm up, allowing his masked girlfriend to get himself out of the broken hole.

Now that they were out of harm's way, Spinneret held the little girl close to her chest as she had Peter wrapped his arm around her shoulder. With no other pathways to jump out of the building unscathed, she was resorted to try walk them all out safely.

After looking around her surroundings, Spinneret saw the stairs that was still left untouched. Using that as their way to escape out of the burning building, she guided them through the trail of flames leading to the ground floor.

Upon reaching to the end of the step, Spinneret saw the entrance just in front of her and sprinted towards it. And finally, as they all finally escaped from the crumbling building of hell, the heroine was met with a round of praising applause for her heroic actions.

As the surrounding crowd continued their applauds, while still holding on to Peter, Spinneret walked up to the little girl's parents, both of which were crying in relief in seeing their only child safe and sound.

After making sure the little girl was safely within arms' reach of her relieved parents, Spinneret looked down at Peter with concerned eyes. "Are you okay?" She asked.

"Yeah... " Peter then paused as he let out a series of heavy coughs from the thick smoke they stepped out of. "Yeah... I'm okay."

Before Spinneret could reply with a few words of relief, she heard the sirens from the fire trucks and other vehicles already a few blocks inbound.

Knowing the fact she couldn't stay any longer as her alter ego, Spinneret gave a quick the grateful people a two-finger farewell salute and lifted her arm, firing a web-line for her swing away from the scene.

Mary Jane, now back in her casual clothing, appeared out of the alleyway and ran her way back to the site of the now-extinguished burning building she web-swing away from.

By the time MJ made it back to the scene, she saw that the firetrucks already putting out the fires with cops setting up barriers. She witnessed a few firefighters providing comfort to the fortunate victims of the incident, including the ones her alter ego, had rescued from their burning fate.

"Miss, you can't enter the scene," One of the cops said to the redhead.

"Please, you have to let me in," MJ then pointed to Peter, who was holding an oxygen mask in his mouth while sitting by the back of one of the firetrucks. "That's my boyfriend over there."

The cop looked back to see Peter waving an okay for MJ to come in. He reluctantly let her in to see her boyfriend was alright.

MJ ran up to him, hugging him. "Peter! Oh, thank God you're okay," She said in relief, playing along with the fact she was just another bystander instead of a superhero that just left the scene.

After they broke up their long relieving hug, a couple of firefighters approached the couple.

"You got some guts, kid," One of the firefighters admired Peter's bravery.

"Yeah, and those fortunate souls probably wouldn't have made it out if weren't for one of those heroes that came back," His co-worker added. "Thank God for them."

Peter looked down in guilt when he heard the firefighter's last sentence, going through terrible thoughts about what could've happened if he still didn't have his powers and if MJ wasn't there.

MJ noticed Peter's starting to look down. She cupped his cheeks, making him maintain his gaze on her own green eyes. "Hey, hey, it's okay."

"No, it's not," Peter said dejectedly.

"It's not your fault," MJ tried to reassure him, knowing where this conversation will lead.

Peter shook his head, the down look still on his face. "You heard what those firefighters said, MJ. If it weren't for you, those people -"

"Are safe," MJ cut him off. "It could've easily happened either other way, Pete," She still remained firm with her hands on his cheeks.

Peter still tried to argue otherwise before being cut off by the. "But MJ -" His next downhearted words were cut off by the redhead's finger on his lips.

"No, no," MJ shook her head as she doesn't want to hear anymore low opinions of himself. "All it matters that everyone's okay and safe now, including you. And no matter what happened, we'll always go through it together, okay?"

Peter started to feel his tears glistering inside his eyes at MJ's words. "I don't deserve you."

Without a word to him, Mary Jane smiled as she slowly leaned her heads close to Peter, touching their foreheads together as a sign of their comfort love. After breaking up the touch, she looked up at him with conviction in her eyes. "Let's get you home."

Taking a ride by cab, Peter and Mary Jane were dropped off at the neighborhood of Soho. That entire time, the poor boy was still not over his pessimistic thoughts

After the redhead paid the fare, the couple exited out of the cab and walked into the entrance of her boyfriend's apartment, making their way up the stairs.

"Mary Jane... can you... stay with me?" Peter asked softly, as he and the redhead were only a few feet away from his door.

She gave a small nod to his words. "Yes," MJ said with a quiet, yet lustful voice.

With that, right after walking into Peter's apartment and closing his door, MJ placed her lips on her love. Then, sounds of pleasurable moans and clothing being stripped and dropped on the wooden floor was echoed throughout the entire room.

Wanting to at least try comfort him in his time of despairing conflict, Mary Jane fully consented to offering the best comfort Peter really needed.

A/N: Spinneret finally getting her own fire rescue moment that was absent from the first movie and Peter's sense of responsibility once more trying to crawl its way back to the surface.

Next chapter will obviously be Peter trying to cope with the events that left him helpless (With a little aid of Mary Jane before her heading out to meet with Gayle, which would be a chapter after visiting Aunt May again).

Oh, and for those that's been reading this fanfic since the beginning probably already knew my stance on writing smut scenes. While I'm still not feeling comfortable doing it, I can allude to it happening during the course of their relationship. Besides, they are mature adults; it wouldn't be right for Peter and MJ to not be intimate during the course of their relationship, especially when their bond gets more stronger and stronger as this universe goes on.

So, yeah, I can let you guys' imagination handle the rest of that moment, just don't get too descriptive, for my own dignity.

Anyway, any constructive criticisms and comments would be greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoy reading this chapter.
