"This is so terrible."
"What happen?"
"You mean you don't know?"
"I heard there was some accident, but nothing more."
"I'd heard it was a terrible car crash."
"Yeah…a tractor trailer ram into them late at night. I heard the driver was supposedly drunk."
"Can you ladies keep your gossip to yourself!? We're at a funeral be respectful!"
"Calm down Mrs. Green, we're just trying to figure out what happen?"
"Then do it were the grieving family can't hear you! *Sigh* Poor girl, losing her husband and child on that night. I can't imagine how she feels…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…Right. I can't imagine it myself."
Off in the distance bright blue eyes peer out from under her umbrella, looking at the group of women standing together, one of them was looking down rubbing at her belly. Eyes lowering a bit more she saw a large bump sticking out.
"…" Tilting her head to the side she looked over eyes scanning around till they landed on a figure kneeling on the ground crying her heart out as two caskets one big and one really small one being lower to the ground. In front of them is a pastor saying prayers as the caskets went down. Beside her was an older woman holding a tissue to her face as tears feel down her eyes. Her hand was laying on Amanda's shoulder, next to them an older man who held an umbrella over the two to keep the rain from hitting them.
Looking to her right, she reaches out grabbing the hem of her uncle's suit and tugging on it. "Hey, Uncle?" she hesitantly called out.
"Hmm? What is it, Lily?" The man tilted his head down brown eyes peering into the bright blue eyes of the child beside him.
"What happen to Mrs. Amanda family? Why are they putting them into the ground?"
"…" He stares at her for a moment debating on whether to tell you the reason why. He's pretty sure most 'normal' family members would try to word around it or avoid speaking about the dead in general to kids. However, he looks back over to Amanda watching her slowly get back up from the ground.
"Well Lily…" He slowly started. The child was by no means stupid, she will figure it out one way or another. The story they gave to the public was that the Stirling family got caught in a terrible accident involving a tractor trailer ramming into the family late at night. Similar to the one they gave Lily, when she woke up in the hospital. It'll only be a matter of time before she puts the two to two together. "Her family got it a bad car accident. Unfortunately Mr. Stirling was already gone before the medics shown up and…*Sigh* Amanda…was severely injured and cause her to lose her baby…"
Thinking on it, he can't help but blame himself for the death of his co-worker family as he was the one to suggest that they remove Lily from the factory when 1006 decided another escape attempt. Even now they still can't figure out why he went to her room. The video showed that he was sitting there the entire time doing nothing but watching Lily from his spot. It was estimated that he was there for almost an hour before the alarm rang.
He did wonder if they had just kept Lily there, would Amanda family still be alive?
"Oh…" The sound of Lily voice snapped him out of his train of thought. He looks back down to see her looking back over to the crowd of people. "So…she lost them like I did?"
"… … …Yes." He said looking back over. "Just like you parents…"
"Oh…"
Yeah…'Oh'.
*Click*
Shutting the closet door, Lily looked around the guest room that she'll be staying in for a couple of days. Not long after the funeral had ended her, and her uncle went back home to pack. He told her that they'd be staying at Amanda's house for a couple of weeks to help her get settled and help with treating her wounds.
She wasn't very pleased about coming here, Lily couldn't quiet figure out why but for some reason she didn't really like Amanda all that much. It was strange since the only time she meets her was in the hospital. Maybe she did something to her before she lost her memories, and her mind is still distrustful because of that. She doesn't know, so she'll try and stay away from her as much as possible while they are here.
*Bark!*
"Huh?" Lily blinks at the sudden sound. Looking over to the door she saw her Pug, PJ, scratching at the door. He looks at her sitting down on the ground and letting out a low whimper.
"Ah, you have to go out buddy?" He let out a yip and walked over to her while shaking his butt. "Sorry about that bud." Lily bent down picking up her nine month old Pug. "It's been a long day and I forgot to let you out!"
PJ came into her life not long after leaving the hospital. The doctors had suggested getting an animal companion to help her through the recovery process from losing her parents and memories having an animal might help mentally. So her uncle had look around and found someone selling some baby pugs. When blue eyes lock on to small brown eyes she instantly fell in love with the puppy. After buying the puppy uncle had asked what they should name him.
'PJ' was the name that came out of her mouth. She was not sure where the name came from but it felt right to her. Though she'd recall the weird expression on her uncle's face upon saying the name. He didn't say anything, just nodding his head and continued to fill out the forms.
*Bark! Bark!*
"Okay! Okay! I'm going! Sheesh be patient PJ." Shuffling the dog to a better position in her arms, she opens the door and heads down the stairs to let him. Grabbing his leash and hooking to his collar they both headed out front. Once that was done and let him go for a small walk around the woods, the two headed back to the house. Opening the door and shutting it behind her she bent down to unhook the leash but paused upon hearing voices coming down from the hallway that led to the kitchen.
"-I'm really thankful for you guys staying here…"
"It's nothing, Amanda, after what happen I felt like it'll be for the best to stay here for a bit."
"…Thanks."
"…"
"…"
"Ama—"
"I don't blame you, -. …Well not completely."
"…"
"I just wish you'd have listened to me back then. Maybe all of this could have been avoided."
Lily face scrunched up in confusion. What are they talking about?
"And I accept the blame, Amanda. However, at the time of incident we had a call to made."
"I know. I know. *Sigh* I just wish you would have brought her back when I requested you. I gave you multiple reports about the experiments acting up."
Experiments? She knows her uncle is a scientist. Are they perhaps talking about work?
"Especially, experiment 1222. Gods she orchestrated that entire mess…"
"…We were weary about 1222 in the being when we decided to take her from that place. But to think she would go that far."
"She's a mother looking for her child, -." She hears a watery like chuckle coming out of Amanda's mouth. "You know, -, despite everything she did to me. …I just can't fully blame her."
"No, Amanda don't think like that. 1222 was completely at fault. That thing killed and injury multiple people. Including your child."
"That thing - was person before. A mother. A mother who'd lost two of her children before we took another one from her. We knew from the beginning 1222 had some mental problems. Marie Payne had a lot of mental problems after she lost her family in that crash and had latch onto Lily as a replacement."
What? Are…they talking about me? Who's Marie Payne? She wanted to go and ask but something held her back as she continued to listen the conversation. PJ on the other hand wanted some attention, so in order to quiet him down she began to pet him as she continued to listen.
"You told me yourself -, we had new material we wanted to test out and she was a perfect candidate to be a mother figure to her. Kill two birds with one stone, is what you said."
"I know what I said. Though we were hoping that her mental issues wouldn't be a problem after everything we did to her."
"Heh, we thought wrong."
"…"
"I told Playtime that I won't be coming back."
"What?"
"The memory suppressant didn't work on her."
"How can that be."
"I don't know. Rage, hatred, spite. All I know is that it didn't work like it did for 1170 and Lily and thought that for my safety I should leave Playtime. I fear that if she saw me again, she won't hesitate to finished where she left off."
"What…" Lily gasps out eyes widening in shock. Memory suppressant? Did they do something to my memory?
Unaware of her moving, Lily slowly made her way across the hallway to the kitchen.
"…Then I guess you made the right choice."
"I had to sign a lot of NDAs before I left. Though I did mention that I would still help out with looking over Lily."
"Well, that's good to—"
"What did you to my memories?"
At once both adults spun around to see Lily standing at the entrance of the hall looking at them with wide eyes.
"Lily!" Amanda gasp out in shock "What are you doing here?"
"What did you do to my memories?" She repeated.
- frowned as he looks over at her. "Did you overhear our conversation?"
"How could I not? It's not like you two were being quiet about it." Lily responded.
"Lily, you know better then to overhear grownups conversation."
"And not hear the fact that you did something to my head?" Lily cried. "Was that head injury you told me a lie!? What about my parents that car crash, was any of that true?"
The two adults couldn't help but to stare at Lily, who was panting while tears fell down from her face. Amanda looked over at - with concern in her eyes. Lily wasn't wrong, they should have held the talk at a different time and location.
- let out a deep sigh as he rubs his face in frustration.
"-" Amanda began to call his name but he quickly cut her off.
"Go to your room, Lily, I'll have a talk with you later."
"But-"
"NOW, Lily!"
Lily flinched back at the sound loud noise. She looking between the two with wide eyes before narrowing them in anger. "Fine." She said before marching her way back to her room picking up PJ along the way.
They both flinched at the loud slam from upstairs. After a moment Amanda let out a low sigh "This isn't good."
- let out a low grunted before making his way over to the telephone.
"Who are you calling?"
"Steven. I may need him to come over and suppress Lily's memories again."
"…I see." Amanda muttered looking down at her cast left arm that was held in a arm strap. "That probably for the best…"
1 year later…
"Why are we going to Amanda's place again uncle? I thought we needed to take PJ to the vet?"
Lily asks from the back of the seat, as PJ chewed on his toy next to her. Brown eyes look up the review mirror seeing Lily looking down and playing with her own toy. "We are, I just want to stop by and check on her real quick. She hasn't been answering any of my calls these past couple of days."
Lily frowned and looked up "You think something happen to her?"
"I don't know, what why I'm going to go and check first."
"Oh."
Pulling up in the drive way the both got out of the car, while Lily grab hold of PJ leashing and let him walk around for a bit. While she was doing that, -, made his way to the front door and rang a couple of times. When no answer came, he frowned and tried again.
Lily looks over from her spot seeing that her uncle was still at the door. Confused, she looked over at the driveway and still seeing Amanda's car sitting there. Why isn't she answering the door? Tugging on the leash, Lily directed PJ to follow her as she made her way back to her uncle.
"Her car is still hear." She said.
"…I know. And I'm not liking the fact that I can't hear anything."
"So how are we supposed to get in?"
"…" - tapped his tigh a couple of times before bending down and lifting up the placemat, underneath is a spare key to the house, in case he needed to get in or Amanda forget her own set.
Upon opening the door both of them flinched at the acid smell that came from the house. "Ah! What is that smell?" Lily groaned holding her hand to her nose.
"Alcohol?" - mutter before slowly stepping in, he almost trip when his foot step on a beer bottle laying on the floor. Looking around the room he same multiple cans and beer of empty alcohol scattered around. "Amanda…what did you do?" He muttered under his breath as worry began to fill him. "Lily, I want you to go back to the car and wait for me there?"
"Why? What about Amanda?"
"I'm going to go and look for her. I don't know what state she's in and I don't want you to see."
She look up at her uncle before peering around him taking in the state of the house. "Okay."
"Thank you."
She watching him quickly make his way up the stairs being mindful of the mess there. And just before she was about to walk back to the car, PJ suddenly took off into a sprint inside the house. Because she wasn't expecting that, Lily grip on the leash had falling out of her hands.
"PJ wait! We can't go in there!" Lily cried out chasing after her dog. When she got to the kitchen, she quickly spotted him scratching at the door that led to the basement. "PJ what are you doing we have to go back to the car." She quickly picked up the leash and try to tug him back out front, but the dog wasn't having it and kept fighting back while trying to get to the basement door.
Giving up on trying to drag her dog out. Lily looks at the door then back down to her dog. "Is there something down there?" A bark was her response. Looking at the door she suddenly had an uneasy feeling settling in the pit of her stomach. She should probably go and get her uncle, but her body began to move on its own as she slowly opened the door.
The first thing she notice was that the lights to the basement were turn on and secondly.
"God that smell!" Slapping a hand up to her noise as she slowly backed away from the door. The smell was much worse compared to the house. And before she could call for her uncle, PJ quickly ran down the stairs while barking. "PJ, no! Not again!"
Not thinking twice, Lily ran down the stairs. When she came around the corner and spotted her dog barking at something, she quickly came to a halt once she saw what or rather who PJ was barking at.
"…" Body frozen in shock as wide eyes took in the sight before her. Right before her, hanging from a rope was Amanda. Her body was pale and already starting to decay which was making an awful smell. Her dead brown eyes were looking back into Lily own blue eyes as her hand slowly feel from her face.
Lily could barely hear her dog barking at the body as she took in the sight before her. The pale skin, dead brown eyes and the scratch marks that covered her neck, like she was trying to cut herself loose. Lily knew this wasn't a murder since she could spot the stool laying next to the body on the ground.
Amanda had intentionally killed herself by hanging from a rope that is attach to the basement fan. It was possible that she had regretted it and tried to get herself loose. There were bottles of beer laying around her, so she probably wasn't in the right state of mind.
A loud snapping sound caused her to snap out of it, when she saw the rope holding the body up suddenly snapped and the body quickly fell to the ground, knocking over the rest of the bottles. PJ, startled by the noise and movement of the body slamming to ground, quickly scurried away and ran back upstairs.
"…ah…" Lily breaths suddenly began pick up in speed when suddenly…
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"
A loud scream tore from her mouth as she fell down to the ground staring at the body in horror.
