"RRGGHHH!"

An aggressive growl rang out through the caverns deep in the termite mound, and a few of the lionesses lounging around inside, seeking shelter from the heat, pricked up their ears curiously.

Then they relaxed and put their heads back down once they'd realized it was Zira's teenage son, in one of his moods as usual. Nuka was hissing and growling, frantically nibbling at his scraggly pelt as he tried to clean the termites from his fur.

"Mother's busy training with precious little Kovu," he grouched to himself, "and Vitani's probably with them, egging him on like the good little future soldier she is...UGH!"

He jumped on a pile of dirt in frustration - which just so happened to be filled with even more termites.

"Oh!" Nuka held still for a moment, trembling as the bugs started to crawl all over him, digging themselves into his fur. "Cool. More termites. Very cool." A wide, emotionless grin started to stretch across his face, and then...

"AAAAAUUUUGHHHHHHHH!"

Nuka fled the termite mound, throwing himself into the dirt outside and rolling around angrily. "Arrghhrghhhhhrghllllrrr...get them off, get them off, gotta GET THEM OFF!"

"SILENCE, NUKA!" Zira raised her head to roar at him from the distance, where she and Kovu were stalking around each other, their tails waving as they got ready to pounce on each other. "You're breaking Kovu's focus."

"Yeah, get lost!" Vitani called from where she was sitting near her mother watching the training take place.

Nuka gasped and looked fearfully into his mother's red eyes for a moment, before the lioness lost interest in her eldest son and resumed training with Kovu.

The teenaged lion grit his teeth in a scowl, rolling his eyes before turning tail sauntering off to sit by himself in the shade.

Nuka: I guess that's all I am: big brother to the Chosen One
Kovu's Mother's golden child, her shining little sun
But no, not me, not Nuka! I'm a shadow in the dark,
Nobody can see the fire burning in my heart!

Nuka: Or these termites itching my skin, GGRRGGHHH! bites himself, then keeps moving, turning more melodramatic and soulful as he makes dramatic, Scar-like poses

Nuka: I'm jealous, oh so jealous,
Of that termite's lion's share.
I'm twisted, oh so twisted,
In this madness, I despair.
When Kovu and Vitani showed up, Mother crushed my dreams!
I hope these termites eat me 'till there's nothing left to scream! AAUUUHGGHHHH!

zoom in on Nuka's mouth and throat, then pan out to him playing "step-on-a-crack" outside the termite mound as the sun blazes overhead

Nuka: I used to dream of fame and glory and a mighty pride,
But I'm always second place, and there's nowhere for me to hide.
Scar's whispers haunt my nightmares and they're driving me insane,
Gnawing at my soul, making my blood freeze in my veins!

He purposefully stomps on a crack in the parched earth, and we hear the SNAP of bone offscreen, implying he's fantasizing about breaking Zira's back. Cut to Nuka running away from the termite mound, the environment around him starting to get more twisted and surreal as we start to see what it's like inside his head

Nuka: I'm jealous, oh so jealous,
Of that termite's blessed fate.
I'm twisted, oh so twisted,
Feeling rage, I can't abate.
It's not my fault Vurugu was an old, demented dope,
The fact there's more of him in me's no reason to lose hope!

Nuka starts to see a mirage in front of him...his own Pride Rock rising out of the desert for him to climb up. He places a paw at its base and slowly climbs, looking like he's trying to seem Simba-like and heroic, but still looking manic and pathetic

Nuka: I'll make them see, I'll show them all,
That I am just as worthy, and that I can stand tall.
No more living in shadow, no more lies,
I'll break out of my cage and let the rage in me rise!

Nuka suddenly realizes he's not standing on top of Pride Rock at all - he's in midair and has just stepped too far off of a small rock, and falls to the ground with an "OOF!"

Guitar solo; he gets to his paws, his red eyes turning swirly and insane as he laughs and skips through the desert wastes

Nuka: They say Nuka's crazy, yeah, they say that he's mad,
But maybe Nuka's madness is all Nuka's ever had, haha!
I'll claw my way to the top, I'll take my due,
I'll be the chosen one, I'll show you what I can do!

I'm jealous, oh so jealous,
Of that termite's princely grace.
I'm twisted, oh so twisted,
In this dark and desperate place.
The way you drool for Kovu makes me feel all queasy-weasy,
Someday I'll snap that stupid little brat's neck easy-peasy!

Nuka laughs maniacally and rolls around for a bit, then sits up and scratches himself, sighing and looking wickedly at the camera as he saunters back towards the termite mound unhappily

Nuka: I'm Nuka, hear me roar,
I'll even the score.
No more shadows, no more shame,
I'll carve my own path to fortune and fame! Heheheh...Nuka's evil laugh at the end of his song is quiet and understated, a contrast to his mother's from earlier. He heads back to the termite mound, the only home he knows, quietly plotting his takeover...
