Epilogue: Our Digital World

Years had passed by since the fight with Arkadimon, mostly filled with peace.

24 December 2031

A nice house stood near a large tree. A large dog resting outside of it. A woman came along, holding groceries with a small cat by her side. She went over to the dog and pet him. The dog gave soft sounds of content.

Woman: "It's good to see you too Komondomon. Did he come out today?"

Komondomon shook his head.

Woman: "Sigh, still busy writing I guess."

Komondomon grabbed the cat, and the cat made a face of disdain. The woman giggled.

Woman: "I'll see you later, Tailmon."

Tailmon: "Hey!"

The woman walked into the house and took off her shoes.

"Phew, getting those groceries took a lot longer than I expected. Can't wait to see what he's been up to all this time."

The woman placed the bags down at a table before silently walking towards a room. She slowly opened the door, revealing a young man typing at the computer. She stealthily went behind him. She placed her hands in front of his eyes.

Woman: "Guess who~"

The man chuckled.

Man: "Let's see… a nice heavenly voice and a cheeky nature. I wonder who it could be. Definitely not Hikari, she wouldn't ever do something like this."

The woman laughed and removed her hands. The man turned around and smiled.

Man: "Welcome home, Hika."

Hikari: "It's good to be back, Keru."

Takeru gave Hikari a quick peck before he turned around and continued to type. Hikari wrapped her hands around Takeru's shoulder and placed her head in his hair, the smell of shampoo evident.

Hikari: "I see you have already prepared for the gathering."

Takeru: "Well, I had free time, so I showered already. The water is hot as always. Honestly, I still don't know how Leomon and the others managed to get such a consistent supply of hot water. It's like it's never-ending."

Hikari: "Well, it's nice that they managed to do it. So, how's the little 'time capsule' coming along?"

Takeru: "Quite good, I just finished the epilogue. Now all I have to do is get this ready for everyone else."

Hikari: "That's perfect, wanna help me with the cooking? Everyone is coming over soon for the countdown."

Takeru looked at the time.

Takeru: "Oh, it's already so late? Give me a few minutes to download this story properly."

Hikari: "Seriously, you're becoming worse than Koushiro."

Takeru chuckled.

Takeru: "Can't deny that."

Hikari walked out of the room and began to prepare the house. It was quite big, perfect for a party containing the Digidestined. Leomon and the others had insisted on ensuring the two Digidestined and their partners had enough space. It was just big enough for everyone to be comfortable should all the Digidestined come over.

Takeru began to download the story onto multiple thumbdrives, he stood up and stretched before walking over to the bed. He gently shook Patamon.

Takeru: "Patamon, wake up."

Patamon: "Takeru..?"

Takeru: "Yeah, Hikari and Tailmon are back already."

Patamon: "Yay!"

Patamon began to fly off. Takeru smiled at the sight.

"Eleven years and he is still the same as ever."

Takeru walked over to a drawer and placed his hand on it.

"Tonight is the night then."

Takeru left the room and went to the kitchen, seeing Hikari there unpacking the groceries.

Hikari: "Patamon just went outside to play with Tailmon and Komondomon."

Takeru: "Yeah, they really haven't changed at all, huh?"

Hikari: "Yeah."

Takeru began to look at some of the groceries.

Takeru: "It really is nice that we have a lot of money saved up."

Hikari: "Yeah, it lets us buy really good ingredients whenever there's a gathering at our place."

Takeru: "Maybe we should just grab some food from the Digital World sometime."

Hikari: "And let our brothers know we only buy food from the Human World for when they are coming over?"

Takeru: "Fair point."

Hikari: "Although… the fruits here in the Digital World are quite nice…"

Takeru: "Yeah, maybe we can get some for the rest to snack on later."

Hikari: "That works with me."

The duo smiled at each other and looked out the window, seeing Patamon and Tailmon playing with Komondomon. The two began to cook the food necessary for the gathering. Hikari left after they finished cooking the food, to pick up some fruits. Patamon came back into the house and landed on Takeru's head.

Takeru: "You had fun?"

Patamon: "Yep!"

Takeru chuckled and went back to their room. He opened the drawer, revealing a small box.

Takeru changed into smart-casual clothes and placed the box into his back pocket.

He grabbed Hikari's outfit as well as a towel and went outside. After a short while, Hikari returned with Tailmon and a basket of fruit.

Takeru: "Your clothes and towel are here. I didn't get your… you know."

Hikari: "Thanks."

Hikari quickly grabbed her clothes and her towel before retreating to their bedroom, grabbing what she needed.

Takeru went back to their room and got ready with the multiple thumbdrives. Suddenly, Takeru heard the doorbell.

"Huh?"

Takeru went to the door and opened it, seeing Taichi and Agumon.

Agumon: "Hi Takeru!"

Takeru: "Welcome, Taichi, Agumon. What brings you two here so early?"

Taichi: "I just wanted to see you two."

Takeru: "Oh. Well, Hikari is in the shower so you might have to wait a while."

Taichi: "That's fine."

Takeru let Taichi and Agumon into the house. Agumon went off to play with Patamon and Tailmon while Takeru and Taichi went to the living room.

Taichi: "So how's it been?"

Takeru: "Quite good so far. It's been peaceful."

Taichi: "That's good. Anyways, today's the day, right?"

Takeru: "Yeah."

Taichi: "Nervous?"

Takeru: "Not really. Like I said all those years ago. The two of us don't really care much about these titles. Regardless, we will still be the same as always."

Taichi: "Fair, but why did you choose today specifically?"

Takeru: "We met in 2020. I felt it would be symbolic if I did this when we turned 20. So, I'm aiming for 1 August 2032. Plus, Christmas is a good holiday for romance."

Taichi: "That's nice. Anyways, you already know you have our blessings."

Takeru: "Yeah, thanks for that."

Voice: "Keru! We're running out of- oh hi Onii-Chan."

Taichi turned around.

Taichi: "Hey, Hikari."

Hikari: "You're early. Welcome to our home."

Taichi: "Yeah, just wanted to catch up with you two. Thanks for having me."

As time passed, the Digidestined began to start streaming in. The Digidestined had a great Christmas party, and it was getting close to the countdown time. Takeru quickly gathered everyone's attention.

Takeru: "Now, I know we all agreed not to buy presents this year due to most of us being busy, but I have a gift for all of you."

Daisuke: "You didn't have to go out of your way for it."

Ken: "Yeah. You were busy too."

Takeru: "See, that's the thing. I was busy because I was working on the gift."

Iori: "Oh?"

Miyako: "Where is this going?"

Takeru brought out some thumbdrives and placed them on the table. All had the Digidestined's respective crests on it.

Takeru: "Well, thanks Koushiro for providing me with these thumbdrives."

Koushiro: "No problem, so what's inside these?"

Takeru: "Well, Hikari has already seen the first half… but let's just say these are some 'time capsules' for all of you."

Taichi's eyes widened.

Taichi: "You're joking, right?"

Takeru: "Nope, I've been working on these since the end of our first Adventure. I hope you guys will enjoy reading this, and I hope it brings back some nice memories of our adventures together. Oh, also it doesn't have our third one in there. I'm starting to write that one."

Yamato: "This is… amazing Takeru…"

The Digidestined were all smiles as they began to prepare for the countdown.

As Koushiro's tablet beeped its alarm, the Digidestined all cheered for Christmas, except for Takeru and Hikari. Takeru had gotten down on his knees and Hikari had a shocked face as he did so. Only when the cheers died down did the Digidestined notice what was happening.

Takeru: "Hikari, you've been by my side ever since we met all those years ago. We have had so many fun memories."

Takeru glanced to Patamon and Tailmon.

Takeru: "And even some bad ones. You always made me feel safe, and we could just be ourselves when we were together. You are one of the Lights in my life, just as I am a Hope in yours."

Takeru closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again and looking at Hikari straight in the eye. He brought out the box from his pocket and opened it.

Takeru: "Hikari Yagami, will you marry me?"

The Digidestined were silent as they waited for Hikari's response. Hikari smiled.

Hikari: "Takeru, I have one condition."

The Digidestined looked slightly surprised and taken aback, while Takeru didn't look fazed at all.

Hikari: "Get my name right next time. It's Hikari Takaishi~"

Takeru smiled and slotted the ring into Hikari's ring finger. Takeru got up as Hikari wrapped her arms around his neck. The two kissed each other.

As they separated, the Digidestined gave even louder cheers and Sora and Mimi hugged Hikari.

Taichi brought his arm around Takeru's neck and ruffled his hair.

Taichi: "Honestly she scared me a little when she said she had a condition."

Takeru smiled.

Takeru: "She could barely contain her smile as she said it. I knew it was going to be something mischievous."

Yamato: "So, Takeru when's the wedding?"

The Digidestined went quiet as they all turned to Takeru.

Miyako: "Good question. When is the wedding?"

Takeru: "I was thinking in eight months. On 1 August. We would both be 20 years old, which is the year we met each other, 2020, and it would also be on the same day we met each other."

Takeru glanced to Hikari.

Takeru: "Of course, only if Hikari is fine with that date."

Hikari smiled brightly.

Hikari: "Of course I am!"

The Digidestined were all cheerful as their celebrations went on.

Soon, it came time for the rest of the Digidestined to leave.

Taichi: "I can't wait for you to officially be a part of my family, Takeru."

Takeru: "I feel the same, even if it already feels like we are family."

Taichi smiled and left. Takeru walked back to the living room, seeing Hikari cleaning up.

Takeru: "That's everyone."

Hikari: "Alright."

Hikari tied the trash in a bag and placed it down, before going to wash her hands. Takeru quickly went to grab the bag and threw it away, while Hikari freshened up. As Takeru returned, Hikari had prepared his clothes for him to sleep in. He went to freshen himself up before joining Hikari in their bedroom.

Takeru: "Goodnight, Hika."

Hikari: "Goodnight, Keru."

1 August 2040

Hikari was tying her son's shoes. She finished tying them and stood up.

Hikari: "That should do it, Hikaru."

Hikari turned to her daughter.

Hikari: "You sure you'll wait, Kiko?"

Kiko: "Yes. I'll wait for papa."

Hikari: "Alright, remember to call him if he takes too long, ok?"

Kiko: "Got it, bye mama, bye Onii-Chan."

Hikaru: "See you later, Kiko. Plotmon! Come on!"

Tailmon and a Plotmon bounded over to their partners. Plotmon jumped into his partners arms while Tailmon remained on the ground. Hikari smiled at Tailmon.

Hikari and her son walked out the door with their partners. Hikari turned to Tailmon.

Hikari: "Let's fly, Tailmon."

Tailmon nodded.

"Tailmon Evolution! Nefertimon!"

Hikari got on and helped her son get on. Hikari waved goodbye to her daughter, who was closing the door.

Kiko waved goodbye before venturing further into the house, seeing Patamon playing with a Poyomon.

Kiko: "Patamon, Poyomon! Come play with me!"

Patamon: "Ok!"

The Poyomon gave sounds of excitement as it hovered over.

Patamon and Poyomon played with Kiko for some time, until Kiko suddenly got up.

Kiko: "We need to get papa."

Patamon: "Alright, I'll do it."

Patamon flew off into a room.

Patamon: "Takeru! We need to get ready!"

Takeru: "Patamon? Oh, it's that time already. Give me a second."

Takeru quickly saved his work and shut down his desktop. He grabbed his Digivice laying on the table and walked out.

Takeru: "You have everything, Kiko?"

Kiko: "Yes, papa. Water, check. Snacks, check. Digivice, check. Most importantly, Poyomon, check!"

Takeru smiled at his four-year old daughter, and they left the house to travel to the meeting venue.

As they reached the venue, a small boy called out to them.

Boy: "It's uncle Takeru!"

Takeru and his daughter ran up to the group.

Kiko: "Hi, Yuuki!"

Yuuki: "Hi, Kiko!"

Taichi: "Took you long enough, Takeru."

Taichi had a big grin.

Takeru: "Sorry, I was writing and lost track of time."

Taichi: "It's no problem, you're here now."

The group began to catch up with one another. The children that were there played with one another. Takeru watched the group and the children with content.

"Even after all our trials, we all still got to do what we truly wanted. We finally have peace in the Digital World. Almost everyone has Digimon partners now. Surprisingly, we've been able to live in harmony with Digimon, although there have been some… incidents."

Taichi became the ambassador he wanted to be. He has been very busy. I'm surprised he even had time to relax with us.

Onii-Chan managed has managed to be a professional musician. It's not the same band, but he gets along well with his new band members so as long as he's happy then it's fine.

Sora's flower arrangement is going well. She's also my sister-in-law now.

Koushiro became the head researcher for anything related to the Digital World.

Mimi's working in fashion right now. I heard she is doing some collaboration to make Digimon-themed clothes right now.

Joe became a doctor and is currently the first to handle any medical issues in the Digital World.

Daisuke's ramen cart is going smoothly. I think he's even gotten some awards.

Ken is a police officer. Stingmon and him make a great duo. I heard that they are one of the best in the force, but that could be because of Stingmon's agility and experience.

Miyako is currently a programmer. She helps Onii-Chan with sound design on the side.

Iori is currently a great lawyer. It's amazing how he chose to follow his father's teachings in his own way.

Hikari is a kindergarten school teacher and so far, it seems that all the children in her classes love her. It makes sense. Hikari has always been one to care for everyone else and always has a lovable nature. I became a writer, and I've wrote stories of our adventures as pseudo 'time capsules' for us. Hikari and I don't really have a stable source of money since her job doesn't pay well while mine is just inconsistent, but it's not like we really need much. After all, we live in the Digital World now."

My writing side is really influencing me a lot. It's almost as if I was sharing to an audience about us."

Voice: "Keru…"

Takeru shook his head, seeing Hikari right in front of him.

Hikari: "You're daydreaming again."

Takeru: "Ah… sorry."

Hikari: "It's fine. What are you writing about now?"

Takeru: "Well, I finished the stories about us. So, I'm thinking of just writing some other stories."

Hikari: "I see. Well, if in the future I get any ideas, I'll be sure to tell you. You never know, maybe some new generation of Digidestined will end up being in my classes."

Takeru: "I doubt it, but I'd be more than open to ideas if you got any."

Takeru and Hikari smiled to each other and intertwined their hands. Hikari rested her head on Takeru's shoulder and Takeru wrapped an arm around her shoulder. They relaxed as everyone caught up and the children played with each other.

Takeru and Hikari looked to each other both thinking the same thing.

"After everything, there's nowhere we would rather be than this peaceful Digital World. Our Digital World."

That's the end. It's been quite a fun time writing this fanfic. :D

Also, I'm gonna change up some of the chapters a bit. I'll post one new 'chapter' just to state what chapters changed and roughly what changed about them. The main plot of the chapters will remain the same, but some things will set up others a bit better. Regardless it'll come soon.

After that, is a few short stories I couldn't fit into this fanfic, either cos it was too short, or would interrupt the flow of the story. It will also include some what ifs, mainly the World Tour. Don't expect a lot from it but it'll come out on Odaiba Day... if I can finish the mini stories on time... heh.

And lastly, sequel is guaranteed revolving around tri. I'll continue to write it in this script format cos I feel it's easier for everyone to understand who is talking. I do not trust myself enough to be able to make a proper story flow while also handling dialogue properly without this script format hehe.
