The Ninjas of Yin and Yang
Though the Serpentine had stolen two of the Fang Blades, the ninja were hardly discouraged by this as thanks to the Serpentine, inadvertently they had all unlocked their True Potentials.
Well, all except one…
One night, Kai entered Wu's old room, which had not been opened since Wu left, to find something to help them in their fight with the Serpentine. He opened a cabinet and found something that made his eyes widen.
"The Green and Purple Ninja Gi?" Kai gasped. He looked around, making sure he was alone before reaching into the cabinet and pulling out the green gi.
Outside on the deck of the Bounty, Melissa stood in a stance as she took a deep breath, and then she saw a shadow of a Venomari approaching her, and then she jumped and kicked the Venomari in the head.
Back in Wu's quarters, Kai had put on the green ninja gi while standing in front of the mirror, checking out himself.
"Oh, yeah, I was born to wear this!" Kai boasted.
Meanwhile, back on the deck, Melissa saw another Venomari heading towards her, so she backflipped behind the Venomari before whacking him away.
In Wu's quarters again, Kai did some flips, spins, and punches as he showed some moves.
"Woohoo!" Kai exclaimed.
Back on deck, Melissa then saw another Serpentine right behind her, so she ran towards him and slid between his legs before punching the Serpentine on the back of the head.
Back with Kai in Wu's quarters, Kai performed one more punch and stomp.
"Hyah! Come on!" Kai declared.
On deck again Melissa saw that four Serpentine surrounded her, so she grabbed a bo staff she then slammed the staff into the ground and spun around and knocked all four Serpentine to the ground.
And then the light shined above her.
"Wow! Good training, Melissa," Nya said as she, Jay, Zane, and Cole watched them above the Bounty, revealing that Melissa had only been training and had been fighting dummies the whole time. "You are getting pretty good, Melissa."
"Yeah, you are as great as we are," Cole said with a smile.
"Thanks, guys this means a lot," Melissa said as she looked at the bo staff she was holding. "If I keep this up, then I'll be saving Lloyd in no time."
"And also help us get the Fang Blades before Pythor does," Zane added.
"That too," Melissa agreed.
"Hey, where's Kai?" Nya asked as she noticed that Kai was nowhere in sight.
"Hey, yeah, where is he?" Jay asked.
"He said he was going to look for something in the barracks," Zane answered.
Melissa then groaned and rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Oh-no, I think I know what Kai is doing."
Back in Wu's room, Kai was still practicing some moves in the green gi.
"Fire! Unlock Fire! Uh… Fire, go! Shoot flames!" Kai called out his element but nothing happened as he sighed in frustration. "Oh, come on. Everyone else can do it. So can you. Bring heat!" He told himself before doing push-ups and standing back up only to see the others in the mirror behind him laughing.
"Very nice, perhaps if you tried the phrase 'Fire dork', maybe it might work," Cole suggested with a smirk.
"Or perhaps something along the lines of 'You are so busted'!" Melissa commented as Kai frantically took off the hood and turned to them.
"How long have you all been watching?!" Kai asked in embarrassment.
"Oh, long enough, Big Brother, long enough," Nya told him with a giggle. "At least enough to see your new costume."
"The 'Green Ninja' Gi! That's awesome!" Jay said. "Looks like Sensei was all ready to choose one of us when it was time."
"Why were you in Wu's room anyway, Kai?" Cole asked.
Kai then tried to explain himself. "Well, I was looking for some kind of clue from Sensei and then I found this," he said before Zane stepped forward.
"But you know only they who are foretold to face Lord Garmadon are destined to be the Green and Purple Ninjas, and only they should wear the green and purple ninja outfits" Zane told him. "So Sensei would most likely be very-"
"Ticked off you were snooping around his things?" Melissa asked.
"I know, I know, but I thought if I just tried it on, it might help me see my True Potential," Kai said as he walked towards the window as the others joined him. "It's not fair that you guys have unlocked your cool powers and I still haven't."
The other ninja understood Kai's frustrations, being the only one who didn't have any powers. He felt like he was the weakest one, but they knew Kai would never find his True Potential if he didn't overcome whatever was holding him back.
Kai then decided to change the subject and turned to them. "Besides, Sensei's still gone and we don't know when he's coming back-"
As soon as he said that however, the sound of someone walking on the deck was heard.
"Hello! I'm home!" Wu's voice was heard.
Melissa, Nya, and the ninjas minus Kai all beamed.
"Sensei!" They all cheered happily and rushed out of the room to see Wu again, except for Kai since he remembered that he was still in the Green Ninja suit and quickly ducked to change back because, if Wu found out what he did, he was dead meat.
On deck, the ninja gathered around Wu to welcome him back.
"Welcome home, Sensei!" Melissa said as she gave him a bow.
Wu chuckled as he looked at his pupil. "It's so good to be home again." He said as he turned to Nya. "And Nya, that color suits you well."
"Thanks, Sensei," Nya said as she gave a small smile and smoothed out her blue dress.
"So glad you're back," Zane said with a grateful smile.
"Did you bring us anything?" Cole eagerly asked.
"Oh, Sensei, you have missed a lot that we just found out," Jay said as he walked up to the table. "Zane's a nindroid, Nya's the mysterious Samurai, Melissa's got the voice of a singer, Cole's the son of a famous dancer…" He recounted gesturing to each member of the team.
Jay was cut off when Wu gave a surprised and confused look. "Zane is a what?" He asked wanting to be sure he heard right.
"You've been gone a while, we'll fill you in later," Zane explained as he stepped forward. "But just a quick note, you should know that all, except Kai, unlocked our True Potentials while you were away."
"Have you now?" Wu said in an impressed and proud tone as he looked around. "Where is Kai?" He asked noticing one ninja was missing.
"Right here!" Kai called out as he rushed into the room, in his own suit, and stood in front of Wu dusting himself off, "So glad you're back safe."
"Hey, uhh, Sensei," Melissa spoke up getting Wu's attention. "When you left, didn't you say you were coming back with someone?"
Behind Wu, four extra arms spread behind him. Coming out from behind Wu was Lord Garmadon as he revealed himself to the group who were shocked by the return of their oldest enemy, with a new form. Kai gasped in surprise before glaring.
"Aah! Sensei behind you!" Kai shouted as he jumped in front of Garmadon, drawing his Sword of Fire while the rest of the ninjas were shocked or stood protectively in front of the others.
"Sensei?!" Zane shouted as he leaped in front of Wu while Kai slashed his sword at Garmadon. Though the Dark Lord managed to avoid it, he was knocked off his feet.
"He's got four arms!" Kai said as he pounced onto Garmadon. The dark lord grabbed his sword with his four arms. Garmadon grunted as he tried to push the fire ninja off him.
"So we meet again!" Garmadon growled to Kai.
"He must have followed you Sensei!" Kai told Wu as he prepared to strike Garmadon again before Wu rushed over to him.
"Kai, stop!" Wu ordered as he gestured to his brother. "He is the reason I left For so long, as Pythor has Lloyd, he will be our guest."
"Wait, what?" Melissa asked in surprise.
"We have to live with this guy?!" Cole exclaimed.
"But, Sensei, he has four arms!" Zane pointed out.
Jay then pushed past them. "Uh, must I remind you ever since he turned evil, he's been trying to get the Golden Weap-?" He reminded but Wu didn't let him finish.
"ENOUGH!" Wu roared as the six stood at attention in a line.
"Yes Sensei," They said as Garmadon stood.
"This isn't about the Golden Weapons, it's about saving my son," Garmadon told them as he stood beside Wu
"From here on out, you will obey me and you will respect my brother," Wu ordered them as Garmadon crossed his upper arms.
"Yes, Sensei," they all bowed in understanding.
Kai and Melissa looked at Garmadon. Kai glared at him while Melissa had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, she's finally meeting her best friend's father; but on the other hand, she wasn't expecting him to be this terrifying in person especially with the four arms.
"Now to the bridge," Wu said to them as he led on. "We must put our attention to more pressing matters." He said as he walked up the stairs to the bridge with his brother behind him.
Before Garmadon followed his brother, he shot the group a sinister smile. Kai growled and tried to keep himself from doing something foolish while Melissa was very nervous about Garmadon being here.
Melissa wanted to talk to him and get to know her best friend's father, but with how intimidating he looked in person, she was very nervous and scared around him.
At the bridge, Wu was asking his pupils about what he missed.
"So, where are we at with the four Fang Blades?" Wu asked.
"Oh, Pythor's managed to take the first two, but there's still two left," Jay answered.
"And we only need one to prevent him from unleashing The Great Devourer," Cole added.
"Any luck finding their whereabouts?" Wu asked again.
"Not yet, Sensei, so far the ninjas mostly relied on the Serpentine heading there first and snatching it before they do," Melissa explained, "Which hasn't worked well so far."
"But the falcon is programmed to alert us if he sees any suspicious activity," Zane informed since finding out his true origin and the falcon as well. It's been helping the ninja by flying around Ninjago. If anything suspicious happens, it is reported back to them on the bridge.
"Good, if we find the Fang Blades, we find Lloyd," Wu said before turning to the two siblings. "Kai and Nya, prepare the deck and double-check the anchor." He instructed while Kai looked at Garmadon briefly. "We need to be ready when we first get word of activity."
"Yes, Sensei," the two siblings said with a bow as they walked out the bridge to do just that and Kai looked at Garmadon again.
"I have my eye on you," Kai threatened the Dark Lord.
Garmadon just gave an evil smirk as Kai kept watching him, but then he didn't pay attention to where he was going as he bumped his head into a wall and Wu sighed in disbelief before Kai finally left when Nya dragged him out.
Melissa kept watching Garmadon, still feeling a little nervous around him and she didn't know what to say around him and she also feared that he might not like her being best friends with his son.
Wu then turned to Jay. "Jay, did you say that Zane was a nindroid and the falcon was programmed?" He asked wanting to know if he heard right and wanting to know how much he missed, mostly involved Zane being a nindroid.
"Ha-ha OK, Sensei," Jay started. "I don't know where to start. It all started when we saw the falcon…" He then told Wu everything that happened since he left.
Outside the Bounty, Kai and Nya were talking as they prepared the ship for mobilization.
"But Nya, didn't you see? He has FOUR arms!" Kai stated as he started to sweep the deck. "Wherever Sensei found him, he's now made it possible so that he can possess all four weapons at once. I don't trust him not one bit." He said.
"Kai, I don't trust Garmadon as far I can throw him either, but you have to remember he's not just the Dark Lord, he's also Sensei's brother and Lloyd's father," Nya reminded her brother as she moved to open the sails. "Though he's pure evil and tried to drop me in lava, Sensei and Lloyd still hold him close to their hearts." She added as the sails opened.
Kai then realized. "Wait a minute, that's it!"
"What?" Nya asked in confusion.
"To unlock my power, Sensei said the heart is the key," Kai explained. "Maybe, if I stand up to Lord Garmadon, I'll find my True Potential and then everyone can see I'm the Green Ninja!" He declared with a flip and kick onto the lower deck. "Ha! Nya, you are a genius!"
At any other time, Nya would like to brag about her brother calling her a genius, but this time, Kai misinterpreted her words.
"Um, I don't really follow your logic-" Nya tried to say but Kai Interrupted her.
"No time to explain! I have to go train! If I'm gonna confront Garmadon soon..." Kai said as he started doing some moves and then he backflipped back to her. "I gotta be at the top of my game."
"But Sensei said he's our guest and that we had to respect him," Nya reminded him.
"Garmadon might've fooled Sensei, but don't think for a second I'm not keeping my eye on him," Kai told her as he turned to his sister. "Nya, the Lord of Darkness just became our roommate."
While the Ninja were brushing their teeth with toothbrushes, Jay and Zane were put off when they saw Garmadon was sharpening his with a file, and surprisingly, it was doing wonders for his teeth as he smiled and they gleamed.
Later at breakfast, while everyone was enjoying their food, Garmadon was eating what looked like a plate of thick, black sludge with live maggots. He held one up with his fork and winked at Kai who was glaring at him before scarfing it down.
"Ugh! What's he eating?" Melissa asked Kai as the girl looked a little disgusted at what Garmadon was eating.
"That's condensed evil," Kai answered while cringing a bit. "He says it's supposed to be low in fat."
Garmadon continued to eat like a vacuum cleaner as one of his maggots fell off his plate. The maggot crawled its way to Kai who groaned in disgust before swatting it away with his fork.
Melissa's face turned green after seeing that maggot move and she looked at her plate and pushed it away as she had just lost her appetite.
Later, Jay and Nya were watching a nice romantic movie and were focused on a tear-jerking goodbye scene before Garmadon used his magic to change the channel a few times, only to stop at a horror film. He started laughing at it like it was a comedy, while Nya and Jay turned to him in annoyance, their movie night having been spoiled.
The Bounty was soon sailing through a storm. Kai and Zane were struggling to keep the ship stable.
"Where's Garmadon?" Zane asked Kai.
Kai gave a sigh as he looked out the window. "Sunbathing," He answered.
Outside, Garmadon was relaxing on a blanket with sunglasses, like he was trying to get a tan in the middle of a storm.
Meanwhile, Melissa was in her room and she was looking through the scroll of the Prophecy of The Ninjas of Yin and Yang to which she had been doing for quite awhile to find out more information about the Green and Purple Ninjas, and also to deal with Kai's obsession.
"Come on, come on," Melissa said as she kept looking through the scroll. "There's gotta be something in here that could help."
"Help with what?"
"Oh, my God!" Melissa jumped as she turned around and saw Lord Garmadon at her doorway, and seeing him made her a little bit nervous. "Uhh, I was, I was, uhh, well you see I, uhh..."
"I can see how nervous you are around me," Garmadon said. "And I don't blame you, I am very unpleasant to look at in person."
"Sorry, it's just well... I wasn't expecting you to look like this... Scary in person with the four arms and all," Melissa said nervously to which Garmadon understood. "Well, that and also you are my best friend's father and all, so there's that."
"Ahh, that's right, you are friends with my son," Garmadon said as he remembered Wu telling him about Lloyd and Melissa's friendship. "And so I just wanna say... Thank you."
Melissa's eyes widened when she heard that. "You... Wanna thank me?"
"Yes, thank you," Garmadon said with a nod. "You see, ever since the Devourer bit me, I knew it was only inevitable until the venom fully corrupted me, and I didn't want Lloyd to see what I would become, so me and Misako made a very difficult choice."
"Misako?" Melissa repeated in confusion. "Who's Misako?"
"Misako is my wife and... Lloyd's mother," Garmadon answered much to Melissa's shock. "Me and Misako both agreed to drop Lloyd off at Darkley's just to make sure that he didn't see the monster I would eventually become. I deeply regret leaving my son all alone in that boarding school, but we had no choice."
Melissa felt bad for The Dark Lord as she could see that Garmadon really did care and love Lloyd, and that leaving him at Darkley's must've been pretty hard for both of Lloyd's parents.
"I feared that Lloyd would grow up alone with me and his mother not there with him... But, then, you came along," Garmadon told her to which Melissa gave him a confused look. "My brother told me how you stuck by Lloyd's side and made sure he was never alone, and despite helping him release the Serpentine, you proved to be a very loyal friend to my son and made sure he was never alone, and for that, I thank you."
Melissa was speechless as she never expected Lord Garmadon to actually thank her just because she was there for Lloyd when he and Lloyd's mother weren't.
"Lloyd is my best friend and I promised myself that I would never leave his side, and that's a promise I will never ever break," Melissa told Garmadon which made The Dark Lord smile and then she approached him. "And I also promise that we will save Lloyd from Pythor and stop him from releasing The Great Devourer."
"Thank you, Melissa," Garmadon said with a nod and then he looked at the scroll on Melissa's bed. "So, what are you looking at?"
"I'm looking at The Prophecy of The Ninjas of Yin and Yang," Melissa answered much to Garmadon's surprise. "The reason why is because Kai's obsession with trying to prove he's The Green Ninja is getting very annoying, and I'm trying to find out more about these chosen ones and if there might be clues to find out who they are."
Garmadon looked at the scroll and didn't blame Melissa for looking at the scroll, but then an idea came into his mind as he realized that maybe he could use this.
"What if I help you with trying to find more information on The Ninjas of Yin and Yang?" Garmadon offered.
"Really?" Melissa asked in shock before she smiled. "That'd actually be helpful, thank you."
Garmadon nodded as both he and Melissa looked through the prophecy, and what Melissa didn't know was that the reason why Garmadon agreed to help her was to find a way to avoid the prophecy from happening as he feared he might know who The Green Ninja of Yang was.
In the boys' quarters, the boys were about to go to sleep but were interrupted by Garmadon generating a ball of electricity while in his sleeping bag.
"Do you have to do that?!" Kai asked as he sat up, "We're trying to sleep."
Garmadon just chuckled evilly to himself and kept powering the ball. Kai groaned and covered his face with a pillow while the others tried to get as much sleep as they could.
The next morning, Melissa decided to get to know her best friend's father a little bit more... by playing a shooting game.
"You're going down, old man!" Melissa declared with a wide smirk as she mashed the buttons as fast as she could.
"Do not assume victory before the final strike, little girl," Garmadon advised as they kept on shooting while the boys and Nya were watching the two go at it.
"Wow! Who would have thought the Dark Lord would be a game fanatic?" Jay said in surprise.
"He and Melissa aren't even playing the game right," Kai retorted, "All Garmadon is doing is shooting and destroying things!"
"Um, that's the point of the game, Kai," Nya stated dully.
"I've noticed that when he's not focused on turning Ninjago into his own image, he's quite fascinating," Zane pointed out with a small smile.
"Sure, the four arms are freakish, but all and all, he doesn't seem that bad of a guy," Cole admitted finding Garmadon good company.
"Not to mention the way he bonded with Melissa, the two seem to be getting along fine," Nya noted with a small smile. "Looks like he appreciates her being friends with Lloyd."
"Yeah, even I think he's OK. I mean, compared to my parents, Garmadon is an upgrade," Jay added since his parents lived in a junkyard.
Kai, however, frowned at how blind his friends were being. "He might be pulling the wool over all your eyes, but not me!" He declared as Garmadon laughed while Melissa groaned when the former got the high score, "He's up to something, and I'm gonna be ready for it." He said determined while the others gave him confused looks.
Zane's falcon cried out as it soared through the air, flying over the forest near the Fire Temple. It soon landed on a rock and spotted something of interest: Pythor and the Serpentine making their way to the volcano with Lloyd pulled behind them in a cage held by Rattalia. The falcon used its robotic eyes to take camera shots and footage of this and sent it back to the ninja.
"I really hope your friendssss know what they are doing, Lloyd?" Rattalia whispered to Lloyd, "Becausssse who knowssss what my uncle planssss to do."
"My friends will come, Rattalia, I know they will," Lloyd told his Serpentine friend. "And when they do, not only will they stop Pythor from getting that Fang Blade, but they'll also save me. I just know it."
"I really hope sssso," Rattalia said.
"You can come with us," Lloyd told her with a smile.
Rattalia looked at him in shock. "Wait, you want me to come with you and the ninjas?"
"Yes, I do," Lloyd nodded in confirmation. "Rattalia, even though Pythor is your uncle, I can see that you don't like what he's doing, and you don't have to live this way, you can come with us and help us stop Pythor."
Rattalia couldn't believe that Lloyd really wanted her to come with him and join the ninjas, and it made her smile to know how good of a friend Lloyd was, but then she looked down in sadness.
"I would like to go with you, Lloyd, I really would... But I can't," Rattalia said in sadness.
"Why not?" Lloyd asked.
"Lloyd, remember what my uncle ssssaid about what happened to the rest of the Anacondrais?" Rattalia asked to which Lloyd nodded as he remembered. "Be honesssst with me, Lloyd, do you really believe my uncle and what he ssssaid about my people sssstarving to death till they were ssscales and bonessss when all of the other Sssserpentine have been locked up jussst as long with mosssst of them sssstill alive?"
Lloyd thought about it and realized that when he and Melissa released the Hypnobrai and the Fangpyres, there were a few snake skeletons in the tombs, but not a lot and when they released Pythor and Rattalia's tomb, there were a bunch of skeletons there and that they were the last Anacondrais left and after realizing this, Lloyd's eyes widened in horror.
"Rattalia," Lloyd spoke in a frightened tone. "Please don't tell me Pythor didn't what I think he did."
"He killed and ate them all, Lloyd... And I saw it all," Rattalia told him with a traumatic and terrified look on her face. "I still remember the screams and I can still hear them too and then... My uncle threatened me that if I ever think about betraying him or go against him... He would kill and eat me too."
Hearing this horrified Lloyd to know what Pythor did to his own kind and that he threatened Rattalia that he would do the same thing to her if she ever betrayed him, and that's when Lloyd realized that just like him, Rattalia is a prisoner to her uncle.
Skales and Selma, who were close by, overheard Lloyd and Rattalia and they were both horrified by what they had just heard, and they just couldn't believe that Pythor did that and they both looked at each other and nodded in agreement that they needed to convince the other Serpentine that releasing The Great Devourer is a very bad idea, and that Pythor is insane.
The falcon saw enough and then flew back to the Bounty to report.
Back on the Bounty, Lloyd in the cage was shown on-screen with Rattalia in front of him while looking sad, but Kai was so busy on the bridge pretending to fight he did not even see it.
"Garmadon, get ready to get Kai'd!" Kai declared as he flipped around the room doing moves, "Fire! Wham! Bam! sorry to beat you man!" He shouted as he pretended to play the guitar before hearing Wu's voice.
"This way, come, come."
Kai followed the voice until he reached the doorway and snuck up quietly to listen.
"I have come to understand the mysterious samurai is no longer a mystery," Wu's voice was heard on the other side of the door.
In the room was Wu, Nya, and Melissa who were with him while Wu had the green and purple gis and the Golden Weapons on his bed.
"Oh, yeah, you heard about that. I guess I picked up a thing or two watching the boys," Nya remarked.
"It was shortly after you went to get Lord Garmadon, Sensei," Melissa explained. "Her identity was blown when the snakes caught her and had to tell the others when me and her were trapped."
"Well, it was foolish of me to think that a girl could not be one the destined Ninjas of Yin and Yang," Wu admitted while Kai tried to peep through the door through the window while standing on a step stool and was shocked from what Wu said.
"So, Nya is The Purple Ninja, we were right," Kai whispered to himself.
"How can you tell, Sensei?" Melissa asked.
"Yeah, and what makes you think that a girl is either the Green or Purple Ninja?" Nya followed.
"Well, you see, when the four Golden Weapons are laid out before the Destined Ones, the weapons will react, revealing the identity of the Ninjas of Yin and Yang," Wu explained to the two girls. "And as far I can tell, a girl would be one of the ninjas. I took a closer look at the purple gi and saw that it was made specifically for a female and the green for a male."
"Huh, so the boys were right about the purple ninja being a girl," Melissa said before her eyes widened as she realized. "Hey, wait a minute, you mean to tell us that the Golden Weapons can reveal the identity of the Ninjas of Yin and Yang this whole time? And you were keeping this until now because why?!"
"All things are destined to happen only when they should happen and not a moment sooner," Wu said wisely.
"Well, sooner should've come earlier," Melissa muttered in annoyance as Wu nodded towards Nya as the girl felt unsure about this.
"But, Sensei…" Nya tried to say, not feeling sure about being the green or purple ninja.
"Approach the weapons," Wu instructed, wanting to see if it's true that Nya was one of the Destined Ones while Kai watched.
"What are you doing here?" Garmadon asked Kai startling him into falling off the stool.
"What are you doing out here?" Kai asked the same question.
"Evil never sleeps," Garmadon said as he approached Kai.
"Yeah, well good never rests," Kai responded after standing.
"Maybe we should take care of this right now," Garmadon suggested a bit menacingly.
"I was hoping you'd say that," Kai agreed as they started pushing each other back, but before a full-on fight could, happen Nya and Melissa opened the door.
"Both of you stop!" Nya said as she and Melissa pushed Kai and Garmadon away from each other. "What are you two doing out here?"
"Perhaps you two should be asking Mr. Snoopy Pants that question?" Garmadon ratted Kai out as the two girls turned to the fire ninja in shock.
"Kai, were you spying on us?" Nya asked repulsively.
"Uh, no way! I was, uh, keeping watch," Kai lied. "So, are you the purple ninja, Nya?"
"Aha! So you were spying on us!" Melissa declared pointing at Kai.
"And aren't you suppose to be in the bridge to hear back from Zane's falcon about the Serpentine?" Nya asked with a stern look.
"Uh, I was." Kai honestly said. "But when I heard Wu talking to you two, I wanted to know what was happening."
"Kai, that's exactly what Garmadon just said, snooping," Melissa said dully as Garmadon gave a small laugh. "And I went to Darkley's, so I know what snooping is all about."
"OK, I'm a nosey ninja, don't judge me!" Kai defended as he crossed his arms. "But, seriously, Nya, are you the purple ninja?" He asked again.
"What? Of course not," Nya answered amusingly.
"So the weapons didn't tell you?" Kai asked before getting confused. "But, wait, we all thought you were gonna be the purple ninja," he said in confusion before Wu came out of the room.
"Actually, we don't know because she didn't even try," Wu explained.
"At first, all I wanted was to be like you, but after seeing how obsessed you've become, Big Brother, I discovered what I could do on my own. I'm happy being a samurai," Nya explained with a small smile.
"It was her choice, and after seeing the amazing things she does to be a samurai, she would rather be that than be a ninja, Kai," Melissa added. "Also, who's to say that maybe Nya is not the purple ninja? Maybe it could be someone else."
"But, if that's true, then who are The Ninjas of Yin and Yang?" Kai asked Wu.
"Perhaps, we will never know," Wu said. "But whoever The Ninjas of Yin and Yang are, the Golden Weapons will react to them."
"Something we should've known about before Lloyd was kidnapped," Melissa said dully. "Just saying."
Jay then busted into the hallway, looking at Kai. "Kai, you were suppose to be on the bridge!"
"Told ya," Nya said while Kai gave an embarrassing look.
"Zane's falcon spotted the Serpentine," Jay informed as they all rushed to the bridge.
Gathered in front of the computers at the bridge, the others were looking at images of the Fire Temple with Pythor and the Serpentine heading towards it.
"Looks like Pythor is at the Temple of Fire," Nya said, seeing the very temple where the Sword of Fire was from.
"That means the Fang Blade is there," Kai theorized.
"And Lloyd," both Garmadon and Melissa said in concern.
"That's the same Fire Temple where Kai and Lord Garmadon faced off," Jay noted.
"And if memory serves me correctly, I say one of us cheated during our last fight," Kai said while giving Garmadon a glare.
"And I remember someone needing their sensei to save them," Garmadon retorted.
"Guys, for the sake of Lloyd and the Fang Blade, can we please just get along!?" Cole yelled out while steering the ship as Kai and Garmadon sighed. "OK, Nya, can you give us an update? What's the condition of the temple since our last visit? 'Cause it's not looking good," he pointed to the screen of the Temple of Fire.
"Well, it looks like since the last time we've been there, the volcano has grown unstable," Nya informed. "The place is a power keg just waiting to blow up."
"Oh, great, just what I like," Jay complained. "Fighting armed and deadly snakes in a highly combustible environment about to blow up."
"Wait, you guys said that you found The Sword of Fire at that temple," Melissa spoke up. "Could removing it cause the volcano to act like that?"
"I don't believe so," Wu spoke while stroking his beard. "When I first hid the Golden Weapons, the volcano was already stable before the sword was placed, and even if it was removed it, should have remained stable. Something else is causing it to lose stability."
"But, like what? And even if it wasn't, the place is already about to blow, so this could get dangerous," Cole pointed out.
"We will do what we must," Wu said to them.
"Yes, Sensei, but where are our weapons?" Zane asked as Kai noticed someone was not in the room with them anymore.
"And why is Lord Garmadon not here?" Kai asked but he already had an idea as he charged out of the room.
"Kai!" Wu try to say, but Kai as already out of the room with his hood flipped.
Kai then burst into Wu's room and saw Garmadon holding all four Golden Weapons.
"I knew I couldn't trust you! You thief!" Kai accused the Dark Lord.
Garmadon having about enough of the fire ninja's attitude, turned to him while brandishing the weapons.
"Argh! Foolish boy, I look forward to teaching you a lesson!" Garmadon told him.
"This ends NOW!" Kai declared, slamming his fists together.
"Indeed!" Garmadon agreed drawing the weapons.
Kai charged at Garmadon while he spun the four weapons.
"NINJA-GO!" Kai shouted, doing his Spinjitzu as Garmadon leapt right towards him.
Kai's Spinjitzu stopped midway as he dodged a swing from Garmadon before he kicked him in the gut. The two of them crash-landed on the ground as Garmadon dropped the weapons.
"I'm alive! I'm alive!" Kai said in elation as Garmadon stood.
"You need to be taught a lesson!" Garmadon shouted as Kai turned to him.
He then threw a punch at Kai but he dodged and kicked him in the face. Garmadon was surprised at first, but recovered and kicked Kai back. Kai flipped and bounced off the wall towards Garmadon, grabbing him by the helmet, flipping over him, and knocking him down. Garmadon and Kai then threw punches at each other, connecting each hit with their opponent.
...Big mistake.
The impact hurt them both a lot. Kai shook his hand while Garmadon was checking his hand. Kai heard Nya calling out from the hallway.
"Kai, you in there?" Nya called out from behind the door.
Kai was not going to let the others cheat him out of unlocking his True Potential. The others walked down the corridor. Kai closed and locked the door because he needed to defeat Garmadon alone. Nya and the others walked up to the door to hear the two of them fighting. inside the room, Nya tried to open the door, only to find that it was locked.
"What are you doing?!" Nya asked her brother inside before his face was pressed against the window of the door.
"Discovering my True Potential!" Kai answered before Garmadon threw him against a wall. He turned to them to open the door, but Kai pounced on him before that.
Jay pulled on the door but it was locked tight. "It won't open!" He grunted.
"Why are they fighting!?" Cole questioned.
Nya knew she had to tell them why Kai was doing this. "Kai thinks he'll unlock his power if he stands up to Lord Garmadon."
"Why would he think that?" Zane asked Nya.
"Cause he thinks he's the green ninja!" Nya stated while twirling her finger by her head.
"OK, that's it, I've had enough of Kai's obsession with being the green ninja!" Melissa exclaimed in annoyance before she started to walk towards her room. "This obsession ends now. I'll be right back."
"What's she doing?" Jay asked.
"I don't know, but if we don't open this door soon, I think's he's gonna be mincemeat," Cole said worried. "Stand back!"
Cole moved forward as he summoned his powers and elemental energy circled around him as his eyes turned orange.
"Earth!" Cole yelled out as he blasted the door to bits, and they all charged in to find Kai standing on top of Garmadon who was laying on the floor.
Kai panted before raising his hands up victoriously, "I defeated him! I did it!" He declared and looked at himself. "Did I unlock my powers? Are my eyes glowing?! Is this my True Potential?!" He asked frantically only to see that his powers haven't been brought out. "Argh! Why isn't it working?!" He questioned in frustration.
"Because you can't defeat someone who allowed himself to be defeated," Sensei Wu told him as he stepped forward. Kai moved himself off as Wu helped up Garmadon.
"I never had any real intention to hurt you, boy," Garmadon explained. "I was only fetching your weapons."
Kai however wasn't buying it. "But you were trying to steal them-" He accused before Wu spoke.
"I asked him to get them," Wu pointed out while giving Kai a disappointed look, "Perhaps, it is best you don't reach your True Potential, or else some one could get hurt."
"But, but, I don't get it," Kai complained. "I thought this would unlock my powers. I thought this would prove that I'm the green ninja and-"
"WOULD YOU SHUT THE HELL UP, KAI!"
Everyone jumped and they all turned around and saw Melissa standing at the door,holding a scroll in her hand while giving Kai a deadly glare.
"Would you please shut up about being the green ninja, because you are not gonna be!" Melissa sternly told the fire ninja. "As a matter of fact, none of you are."
"What do you mean, kid?" Cole asked.
"I took this scroll explaining everything about The Ninjas of Yin and Yang from Sensei's room," Melissa explained while revealing the scroll in her hand. "And, I'm sorry for taking it Sensei, but Kai's stupid obsession left me no choice, so I took it and with Lord Garmadon's help, I managed to know all about The Ninjas of Yin and Yang."
"You helped Melissa learn about The Ninjas of Yin and Yang?" Wu asked his brother.
"Yes, and the reason why is because of... Personal reasons," Garmadon explained. "And I as well looked through the scroll and found something interesting."
Melissa then opened the scroll. "It says and I quote 'With the Ninjas of Earth, Fire, Ice, and Lightning by their side, they will protect The Ninjas of Yin and Yang and help them complete their destiny and defeat The Dark Lord and save Ninjago.'," Melissa read before looking at the ninjas. "You guys read the scroll wrong. It doesn't say that two of you are gonna be The Green and Purple Ninjas, you guys are getting two new members of your team."
This surprised everyone, especially the four ninjas, as they didn't even consider the thought of them getting two new members.
"Wow! We were way off," Jay said as Cole and Zane agreed.
"And another thing, Kai, if you were spying on us earlier, you would know the Golden Weapons are what decides who is the the Ninjas of Yin and Yang..." Melissa said before gesturing to the four weapons around Kai. "Look around, Kai, as you can plainly see, they aren't reacting, which means one thing and one thing only…" She paused to let Kai say the ugly truth himself.
Kai looked at the four weapons around him as he realized that she is right. "Wait, the weapons would've react if I was the one, but that would mean…" Kai trailed off as he couldn't finish.
"You're not the green ninja," Melissa answered sternly. "Sorry, Kai, but it's the truth. You and the others aren't gonna be The Green or Purple Ninjas. You guys are their protectors. And it's because of your obsession that Lloyd was kidnapped, so stop or something else bad could happen."
"Way to go, hero," Cole commented on a stern tone.
Kai looked down in shame and guilt while the others just scowled at him in disappointment. He knew they were right. He had been letting the personal mission of proving to be the green ninja was really costing them a lot, especially Lloyd.
"Oh, poor thing," Nya said as she came to them. "Let us help you." She added as she and Wu helped Garmadon to his feet.
"Yes, poor thing," Garmadon subtly mocked at Kai with a smirk. Kai trembled with rage at the Dark Lord provoking him, but reined it in as he would only be making it worse for himself.
Then as Garmadon stood up, the Bounty shook.
"Sounds like we've finally reach our destination," Cole said as they all rushed out of the room and Melissa was about to follow them until Wu stopped her.
"Melissa, you are gonna stay with Nya until we get back," Wu told much to her shock.
"Wait, what? Oh, come on! That's not fair," Melissa said in annoyance. "I wanna save Lloyd too. He is my best friend you know."
"I know, that but it's too dangerous," Wu told her. "I promise, we will save Lloyd and bring him home, but first, we need to stop Pythor from getting all four Fang Blades. Just stay here and listen to Nya." He told her before he left and followed his brother and his students.
Melissa watched on with an annoyed and frustrated look, because even though they said that they will save Lloyd, every time the ninjas were more focused on getting the Fang Blades and, yes it is more important, but she was tired of waiting and she wanted her best friend back.
But then, Melissa looked beside her and saw the green and purple ninja gis laying on Wu's bed, and then she looked at the direction Wu, Garmadon, and the ninjas went, and she looked back at the gis before giving a determined look,
"Fine if they won't save Lloyd, then I'll do it myself," Melissa said before she grabbed the purple ninja gi and rushed out of the room.
Meanwhile, the ninjas, Wu, and Garmadon exited the Bounty and approached The Fire Temple as they saw a river of lava right by the temple and the volcano looked a lot more agitated than the last time they were there.
"The volcano seems to be on the verge of eruption, guys," Nya said through the falcon as she was on the bridge. "All recent indicators tell me that this place is becoming increasingly fragile, even the smallest rumble can make the whole thing go off." She informed them.
"Then, we must not use our weapons," Wu informed as the three boys put their weapons away while Kai still kept out his sword.
"Kai?" Nya firmly said.
"Ah, yeah, yeah, no Sword of Fire," Kai said in annoyance and disappointment as he put the sword on his back. "But only because I wouldn't want anything to prevent us from getting that Fang Blade." He called out.
Nya could see Kai's expression as she flew the falcon close to him. "Kai, you need to focus. Things could get dangerous in there." She pointed out.
"Yeah for me since I didn't unlock my powers," Kai said without looking at the falcon.
"Well, maybe, if you haven't been so busy trying to prove you're something you're not, you would've found it by now," Nya told him.
"That's a lot coming from you, sister," Kai said. "Incase you've forgotten, I was a lousy blacksmith, then Garmadon showed up, kidnapped you, chained you up over lava, trying to help my friends we lost Lloyd to the Serpentine, and two out of the four Fang Blades are in Pythor's hands, and not to mention the others unlocked their True Potential before I did, so excuse me for being desperate! I'm practically the weakest link here!" He retorted.
The falcon stood quiet for a moment as on the bridge Nya was speechless because she never knew her brother feel that way.
"Kai, you're not the weakest link," Nya tried to assure her brother.
"Nya, the others can use their powers without using the weapons. At the moment for me, I still have to rely on my sword just stand a chance!" Kai pointed out.
"Kai, it's not the sword that makes you a ninja, it's you," Nya said while trying to encourage her brother. "And I know you'll find your power, but only when you overcome what's holding you back."
"But what? I still don't know what's holding me back," Kai pointed out.
"I'm sure you'll find it." Nya assured.
"There," Wu said as he pointed to the skull end of the temple he went through before he ended up in the Underworld. "The Serpentine must be inside the inner core. From here on out, we travel by shadows." He instructed them as they rushed into the temple.
"It's the only way I know how," Garmadon said as he led the charge and they all rushed further into the tunnel.
While unbeknownst to them, Melissa, who was now wearing the purple ninja gi snuck out of the Bounty, and she was hiding behind a rock to make sure that Wu, Garmadon, or the ninjas didn't see her.
"Don't worry, Lloyd, I'm coming. Ninja training, don't fail me now," Melissa said as she began to rush into the temple, only to trip on the ninja gi as it was too big for her to wear. "I really need to grow into this stupid suit." She said as she got up and rushed into the Fire Temple.
Soon, Wu, Garmadon, and the ninjas quietly rushed down the tunnel where they saw the Serpentine standing around what looked like an old lava mine. Pythor was seen looking at the map while a Hypnobrai was digging at the ground.
"I think we figured out what's making the volcano so unstable," Cole commented now seeing the Serpentine's digging was fracturing the foundation of the volcano. Jay then looked to his right and gasped silently.
"There's Lloyd!" Jay told them as they saw Lloyd sitting sadly in a cage with Rattalia next to him who had a worried look on her face.
Garmadon gasped as he saw his son. "Son," he said as he tried to reach out to him.
"Brother, wait," Wu whispered quietly while grabbing his shoulder. "I wanna save Lloyd as much as you do, but we need to get closer first."
The others nodded as they carefully scaled down the wall.
Meanwhile, Pythor heard what sounded like metal being struck in the ground, making him look up from the map to address the diggers.
"Argh, out of my way, fool!" Pythor shouted at the Hypnobrai that was digging before he pushed him aside. He looked closer and saw the third Fang Blade sticking out of the ground.
"The third Fang Blade is ourssss!" Pythor declared as all the other Serpentine cheered and laughed. Now, they were only one Fang Blade away from their goal.
As the heroes continued scaling the wall, Pythor looked at the blade and in its reflection, he saw the ninja and the others in it behind him.
"Ninja?" Pythor shouted in surprise.
Rattalia saw them as she was surprised as well. "Wow! You're right, Lloyd, your friends don't know when to give up."
Lloyd gave a smile at his friends and family. "No, they do not." He said in joy.
Pythor then turned to them pointing the blade. "Attack!" he commanded his army, who took notice of the heroes too, and pulled out their weapons. With their cover blow the group stood ready for battle.
"Light as a leaf! Attack like there's no tomorrow!" Wu ordered them as he whacked a Hypnobrai, which landed in the lava before he jumped out and ran off with his rear-end on fire.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Hot tail! Hot tail! HOT TAIL!" The Hypnobrai yelled in pain as Wu knocked away more Serpentine.
Cole kicked away some more Serpentine as Jay punched one down before a lava sprout bursted.
"Lightning!" Jay called out as he use his powers to clear off the lava with a lightning tornado as he did an air kick. Zane then punched two Serpentine behind him without even looking.
"Ice!" Zane commanded, creating an ice slide to kick away the Serpentine only to be tackled to the ground by a Venomari and was about to be struck down, only for something small and purple to kick the Serpentine off the ice ninja. Zane looked up and saw Melissa standing over him and she was wearing the purple ninja gi.
"Melissa!" Zane exclaimed in shock. "What are you doing? You're not supposed to be here, it's too dangerous."
"Well, like it or not, Zane, I'm here to help Lloyd," Melissa told him and then she offered her hand to Zane to help him up much to Zane's surprise, and then he took Melissa's hand and she helped him up, "Now, come on, let's go save Lloyd and kick some Serpentine butt."
As Melissa ran off to join the fight, Zane stood there in shock about what happened, and then he started remembering about the dream he had about The Ninjas of Yin and Yang, and how The Purple Ninja helped him up just like Melissa did just now.
"It can't be," Zane muttered in shock as he came to a realization. "Could... Could this mean that-" Zane was cut off when a Serpentine tried to attack him.
"Don't worry, Lloyd, I'm coming!" Melissa shouted as she was running towards the cage that Lloyd was in, but then she was surrounded by a few Serpentine and was a bit frightened, seeing this, but then she noticed a pattern. "Wait a minute, this is just like training."
"Over the Planks, Dodge the Swords, Here Comes the Dummy!" Melissa called out as she jumped on some Serpentine, dodging their swords, and then hit one as dark purple energy started forming around her. "NINJA-GO!" She called out as she then did a purple dark Spinjitzu as everyone saw this in shock.
"Is that Melissa?" Jay asked in shock.
"And is she doing Spinjitzu?" Cole followed.
"Not only that, but it's purple," Zane pointed out.
"But, what could this mean?" Wu questioned.
"I didn't know Melissssa could do that," Rattalia said in shock.
"Neither did I," Lloyd said in awe.
Melissa then stopped her Spinjitzu and looked at herself in shock. "Whoa! Did I just do that?"
Kai soon found himself surrounded and, being the only one without powers, he had no way of fighting back. But after contemplating with himself, Kai drew the Sword of Fire and used its power to beat back the Serpentine. Unfortunately, the volcano sensed the sword's elemental power and soon the lava began glowing and rising around them.
"Kai! Your sword is compromising our safety!" Nya told her brother through the falcon.
Kai, however, even though seeing the danger they were in, refused to put away his sword. "I will do what I must." He said firmly, repeating the words Wu told them earlier. The Serpentine then decided it was time to leave.
"Let's get out of here!" Pythor called out as he turned to three Constrictai with a smirk, "But not before we leave them with a parting gift! BOYS!"
The Constrictai saluted as they started burrowing throughout the cave, lava spewing out from the holes they created as the volcano started shaking violently.
"Wh-what's happening?" Melissa asked in concern.
"They're making the volcano unstable," Zane told the others.
"Any minute this place is gonna blow!" Jay added as the ground began to shake. "We have to get out of here!"
Garmadon and Melissa pushed them aside and glared at the retreating snakes. "Not without my son!" said Garmadon firmly.
"I'm not losing my best friend again!" Melissa added.
"Dad! Melissa!" Lloyd called out to them from the stairway.
"We're coming, Lloyd!" Melissa called out as Garmadon grabbed her and then jumped across the lava and started knocking away the snakes as they climbed up to get Lloyd. Pythor saw Garmadon approaching and knew exactly what he wanted.
"Argh! Lossse the boy!" Pythor ordered the Serpentine carrying Lloyd, having no further use for their liberator.
"What?!" Rattalia asked in shock before the Serpentine that were holding Lloyd threw his cage over the edge and down into the lava.
"Help!" Lloyd cried.
"Lloyd!" Both Melissa and Garmadon yelled in horror, but at the last second, Melissa jumped out of Garmadon's grasp and grabbed the handle of Lloyd's cage just in time, causing Lloyd to land on a ledge, but the lava was slowly rising.
Melissa tried to hold on, but the heat from the volcano was making her hands sweated as she tried to keep her grip tight.
"Help, I can't... Hold on much... Longer" Melissa called out as she felt herself slipping.
"I'm coming, kids. Just don't let go Melissa!" Garmadon called out as he knocked away each Serpentine as the lava was getting close to Lloyd as Melissa tried to keep a firm grip.
Garmadon looked up ahead and there were more Serpentine but not enough time to reach Melissa to help save his son. One Serpentine charged at Garmadon with a spear before Garmadon grabbed it and flipped that Serpentine over, and charged at a bunch of them before using the spear to hurdle over them. He landed next to Melissa and he used two of his arms to grab the handle of the cage and pull Lloyd up to safety.
"Dad! Melissa!" Lloyd said happily as he held onto the cage through the hole the lava burned through and he swung into Garmadon's arms, hugging him tight.
"My son!" Garmadon said in relief and joy as he pulled him into his arms for the first time in years, and then Melissa hugged Lloyd after Garmadon let him go.
"I'm so glad you're OK. I really missed you, Lloyd," Melissa told him with tears of joy in her eyes.
"I missed you too, Melissa," Lloyd said with a smile as Rattalia watched in amazement at how much they cared for each other.
Kai then rushed pass them and ignored them. "The Fang Blade's mine!" He called out as he rushed up the stairs.
"Kai, come back! It's too dangerous!" Cole called out as the others were making their way from where they entered. "The whole place is going to explode!"
"Then, I better be quick!" Kai shouted as Pythor was about to go through the hole the Serpentine came through with the Fang Blade.
Kai wasn't going to let him get away with it as he drew out his sword and threw it at Pythor, knocking the blade out of his hand and sticking both it and the sword in the wall. Pythor let out a frustrated roar when the Fang Blade was knocked out of his hand before he tried to pull the sword out of the wall to get the blade.
"Uncle, leave it! We mussst leave here at once before we're a ssssnake bbq!" Rattalia called out to Pythor from the hole before a burst of lava shot up in front of him. Pythor let out a girlish yelp of fright before rushing through the hole, knowing the Fang Blade was not worth getting fried over, before it collapsed.
As Garmadon, Lloyd, and Melissa regrouped to the others, Kai still made a run for his sword and the Fang Blade.
"Leave it, Kai! It isn't worth your life!" Jay shouted to him.
"Not without that Fang Blade!" Kai shouted as he dodged another piece of falling rock.
"Kai, stop holding onto your pride and retreat! Your sword might survive, but the Fang Blade might melt into the lava!" Nya tried to reason through the falcon as they noticed the lava was still rising.
"Kai, leave The Fang Blade. You're gonna get yourself killed!" Zane called out, but Kai still didn't listen.
"Everyone, get out of there now! The volcano could erupt at any moment!" Nya called through the falcon as Kai reached his sword and started pulling on it.
"But, what about Kai?" Lloyd asked before he turned to look where Kai was. "Kai!" He called out before a piece of the ledge he was standing on broke.
"Lloyd!" Melissa shouted as she quickly grabbed him and tried to pull him up only for the piece of the ledge she was standing on to break as she and Lloyd fell, and Garmadon tried to catch them, but it was too late and they landed on a rock floating on the lava.
"Dad!" Lloyd cried out as he reached out to his father and friends as he and Melissa tried to find a way to reach them while Kai tried to free his sword and the Fang Blade.
"Melissa, we're sinking! What do we do?" Lloyd said as their rock raft floated further and further away from Garmadon and the others.
"I don't know. I didn't get that much training," Melissa told him as she and Lloyd held onto each other for dear life.
"Ugh, it won't budge!" Kai grunted as he pulled and pulled on his sword, completely ignoring Lloyd and Melissa in the middle of the lava. Then, with one last pull, Kai freed his Golden Weapon, but the Fang Blade fell towards the lava before it got caught on a ledge.
The volcano was getting closer and closer to erupting as more debris fell around them.
"We have to get out of here, or else none of us will get out of here!" Wu told them as Kai leapt down and tried to grab the Fang Blade.
"But the kids," Garmadon argued, desperately trying to go back for his son and his best friend, but Zane and Cole pulled him back before the rock covered their path.
Through the falcon, Nya turned to her brother and gave him one last message.
"Kai! Just this once, stop thinking about yourself and do what you do: Help your friends!" Nya called out before the falcon flew out of the volcano.
Lloyd and Melissa were trying to keep their balance and trying not to fall into the lava, and they both feared that this might be it.
"Lloyd, if this is the end, I just want you to know that you have been the best thing that has ever happened to my life," Melissa told him with a frightened look and tears rolling down her eyes.
"And, you have been the best in mine, Melissa," Lloyd told her as he and Melissa shared what could be their last hug. "And if this is the end, then at least we go out together."
"Together," Melissa nodded in agreement.
Kai seemed to ignore his sister and tried to grab the Fang Blade as it sank closer and closer towards the lava. Kai growled in frustration, he was literally in his element and still he could do nothing.
"Come on! Why won't my power unlock?" Kai demanded himself, wanting to know what he had to unlock his-
"Kai! Help us!" Lloyd's voice called out as Kai turned and saw Lloyd and Melissa in the the middle of the lava close to him.
Kai soon found himself with a tough choice: If he tried to save the Fang Blade, he would save Ninjago from the Serpentine and prove himself to be the Green Ninja, but his friends. But if he saved Lloyd and Melissa, he would lose the Fang Blade, along with his last chance to become the Green Ninja.
Then he remember Nya's words, 'Just this once, stop thinking about yourself and do what you do: Protect your friends!' Her words repeated in his head. He looked towards Lloyd and Melissa, the son of the greatest villain of Ninjago and his best friend, the ones who started this whole mess with the Serpentine, and eventually became part of their lives and family.
Then looking into Lloyd and Melissa's eyes right then and there, Kai realized something.
With one last glance at Fang Blade that was now sinking into the lava, Kai turned back to Lloyd and Melissa with a determined look and did what he should've done from the very begining: protect his friends.
"Come on! Let's get out of here!" Kai shouted as he jumped over to the them and lifted Melissa up and got Lloyd onto his back.
"Thank you," Melissa said as she held onto Kai.
"But the Fang Blade…" Lloyd called out as the Fang Blade disappeared beneath the lava.
"Forget it! This place is coming apart!" Kai told him, not regretting his decision at all, as it was probably best the Fang Blade was in the lava. "NINJA, GO!" Kai used Spinjitzu to jump from rock to rock before flying up to escape, but the cave entrance was already blocked.
But then before he could do anything he, Melissa, and Lloyd soon found themselves surrounded by walls of fire, but strangely enough, the flames didn't touch them, if anything, they seemed to be protecting them. Kai felt a power rising inside of him and the Sword of Fire began to glow, he then realized what was happening as he Lloyd and Melissa were engulfed in the flames.
The others were making their way out of the volcano as Garmadon tried to struggle free of Zane and Cole's hold.
"Kids! KIDS!" Garmadon screamed out as they were making their way to the Bounty. As the ship took off, the volcano finally erupted and they looked on in fear.
"Kai," Nya whispered in dread.
"Kids," Garmadon said with sorrow bowing his head.
But then, they saw a ball of red energy and fire spewing out of the volcano. Instead of falling to the ground, the ball flew straight towards them. Inside the ball was Kai, surrounded by fiery elemental energy and his eyes glowing as he floated over to the Bounty.
"It's Kai! He's found his true potential!" Jay declared as Kai landed on deck with both Lloyd and Melissa covered in ash and soot exhausted but very alive.
After placing them down, Kai flipped up his hood and looked at Wu on the bridge, and Wu nodded to him with a proud smile for finding his power and for saving his nephew and his friend.
Kai smiled as his powers diminished and he fell to the floor exhausted from the experience as Nya rushed over to him and helped him sit.
"I'm proud of you, Big Brother, and I'm glad you're OK," Nya said as she hugged Kai to which Kai gave a tired smile before turning to his friends with a guilty look.
"I'm sorry, guys, I lost the Fang Blade," He said sadly.
"But you saved Lloyd and Melissa," Zane reminded with a smile as Jay helped Melissa stand and Garmadon took Lloyd in his arms.
Cole then kneeled down next to Kai. "Way to go, hero," He said much more proudly as Kai smiled at his friends.
The Bounty flew away from the Fire Temple and the volcano as the lava stream continued.
Soon, they all gathered on the bridge as Garmadon was holding his son close to him.
"Dad? Is it really you?" Lloyd asked as he looked up to his father.
"It is, son," Garmadon answered as Lloyd looked down at his father's body.
"Dad… why do you have four arms?" Lloyd asked.
"He's gonna be fine," Cole declared as the others cheered and Melissa went to Kai and gave him a hug.
"Thank you, Kai," Melissa said gratefully.
"Yes, thank you for saving my son," Garmadon finished with a grateful smile as well and Kai smiled in return.
Melissa then turned back to Lloyd and hugged him. "And welcome home, Lloyd." She said with a smile as Lloyd laughed and hugged her back.
"It's good to be home, Melissa," Lloyd told her with a smile before seeing what she was wearing. "Although, I do have to admit that that ninja suit suites you."
"Really? You think so?" Melissa asked as she looked at herself wearing the purple ninja gi to which Lloyd nodded. "Well, thanks, although I probably should give this suit back to Sensei." She said before giving Wu an apologetic look. "And sorry for taking this suit without your permission, Sensei, and for disobeying your orders."
Wu just sighed and shook his head. "At this point, I should just get used to my students disobeying orders."
"But, wait, Kai, how did you survive?" Zane asked in interest. "How did you discover the key to unlocking your powers?" He wondered as the others were wondering the same thing.
"I knew I had to make a choice," Kai started. "I wanted the Fang Blade so badly, to prove I could still be good enough to become the Green Ninja." He said as the others listened. "But then, I realized that Melissa's right. All of my training to become the best ninja wasn't in preparation to become the Green Ninja of Yang, or even The Purple Ninja of Yin... It was to protect them." He said as he looked at Lloyd and Melissa.
Lloyd and Melissa looked at each other in confusion as Garmadon got what Kai was saying and he looked at his son in shock. The others soon caught on to what he meant and were shocked as well.
"What?" Lloyd asked as he wondered why they were all looking at them. "What's everybody looking at us for?"
"Yeah, what's with the looks, guys?" Melissa asked in confusion.
"Lloyd, your father is the son of the First Spinjitzu Master, meaning you'er his grandchild," Kai explained as he smiled down at them. "And Melissa, you never left Lloyd's side ever since you met and have always been a team."
"So that means…" Nya started as the ninja pulled out their Golden Weapons and huddled them around the two kids and the weapons floated with a green glow around Lloyd and a purple glow around Melissa as Wu gasped in realization.
"Lloyd is the Green Ninja and Melissa is the Purple Ninja," Wu said in surprise. "I had thought it would be one of you four, but it was them the whole time. Lloyd and Melissa are The Ninjas of Yin and Yang." He stated as he was surprised himself and walked up to his nephew and his best friend. "It all makes sense. Not only have you four boys been chosen to protect the Golden Weapons, but also to protect the chosen ones." He finished as the weapons diminished their glow and fell to the floor as Wu put a hand on Lloyd and Melissa's shoulders.
"So, me and Melissa are The Green and Purple Ninjas?" Lloyd asked as he was surprised by the news. "Wow! Melissa, you were right. Remember what you said while the others were busy trying to find out who Nya was?"
"I said that as a joke, Lloyd," Melissa told him before giving him an excited smile. "But this is still so awesome because we're gonna be ninjas!"
Lloyd and Melissa then shared a high five as Garmadon smiled with pride at his son for finding a destiny away from his path until he realized something terrible.
"That means..." Garmadon said with a frown on his face as Wu turned to him.
"The battle lines have been drawn, brother," Wu said in a sad tone as he, Lloyd, and Melissa looked at Garmadon sadly. "Sadly, our family has only become more divided. Brother versus Brother and now Son and Friend versus Father." He declared solemnly.
Melissa covered her mouth in shock as she realized that Wu was right and she looked at her best friend in concern and Lloyd shook his head and jumped into his father's hands, the father he would one day have to fight along side his best friend. Garmadon held the one destined to stop him tightly and the other watched with sympathy until Jay interrupted the tender moment.
"Heh, OK, this is heavy and all," Jay said with a smile before he frowned, "But could someone tell me whatever happened to THE FANG BLADE?!" He questioned them of the obvious problem.
"It sank into the lava, and I don't think anything could handle that much heat," Kai answered. "My guess is, it's probably just melted metal right now."
"I'm afraid not, Kai," Wu said as he and Garmadon were more worried then ever. "The Fang Blade is still out there intact."
"What?!" The others asked in shock.
"How?! It fell into the lava!" Cole pointed out.
"The Fang Blades aren't truly made of silver, they are carved from the very original teeth of The Great Devourer," Garmadon explained as they turned to him, "The bones of them is so powerful that they can only be destroyed in the extraordinary heat of Ninjago's old volcano, Torch Fire Mountain."
"Not even the volcano of the Fire Temple can compare to that mountain," Wu added.
Kai then came to the horrible understanding. "So, if what your saying is true then…" he started before they heard the screen beeping as the falcon came back with a new video, "Uh-oh!"
Back at what remains of the Fire Temple, the Serpentine were climbing down the volcano as spirits were low. They had lost the Fang Blade and what was needed to accomplish their goal.
"Well, that'sss it then," Rattalia said as she slithered next to her uncle. "Without that Fang Blade, we'll never awaken the Great Devourer. It'sss over." She said in defeat while secretly relieved that the Fang Blade was destroyed.
Pythor knew that his niece was correct and was low in spirit before he saw something floating down the lava stream.
"I wouldn't be ssso sure, my young niece," Pythor said as he slithered close to the lava stream and saw the blade of the Fang Blade poking out from the lava. Pythor smiled as he used his staff to fish the Fang Blade out of the lava and it landed on the ground blade first as Pythor looked at his reflection in it. "Ah, ssso beautiful!" He said with a small smile.
"Wait, what?" Rattalia exclaimed as she looked at the blade in surprise and worry. "B-but how? I thought the ninja would've gotten it or it mussst've fallen into the lava during the chaosss." She pointed out.
"Clearly, the ninja didn't manage to retrieve it, and the Fang Blade isss made from the original teeth of the Great Devourer, ssso ssstrong that not even thisss volcano could destroy them." Pythor smirked before turning to two Venomari soldiers walking by. "Cool and clean it off boys, because we've only got one more Fang Blade to go!" He said before knocking the blade over to them, using his staff like a golf club.
The two yelped as the Fang Blade was still hot, passing it to each other. Pythor ignored them as he chuckled evilly and they were now closer than ever to unleashing the Great Devourer as Rattalia looked worried and hoped that the ninja could get the last Fang Blade before her uncle.
From the Bounty, the others were looking at it in shock and worry as the Serpentine now had three Fang Blades.
"Oh, snap!" Jay uttered, breaking the silence.
"Can't we catch a break?" Kai questioned in frustration. "Now, they have three Fang Blades. That means there's only one left."
"Then, it is vital that we find it first!" Wu declared as he pointed his staff to each of his pupils. "Now that each of you have your powers, use them and scour every inch of Ninjago, find that Blade!" He ordered.
"Yes, Sensei!" The ninja nodded and rushed out of the bridge to start the hunt as Garmadon looked at Wu.
"I will help too, brother." Garmadon said to him.
"Are you sure you're up for this after discovering your unfortunate fate?" Wu asked his brother in concern.
"I've never been more certain. If there's one thing I hate more than fighting my son, it's the Serpentine destroying Ninjago with the very snake that made me into this before I get my chance to recreate Ninjago," Garmadon declared
"Good enough for me," Nya declared as she rushed to the door. "I'm going to help, too. It's time for the samurai to get back out there!" She declared as she rushed out along with Wu and Garmadon, leaving Lloyd and Melissa.
"Are you OK, Lloyd?" Melissa asked as she saw the concerned look on her best friend's face.
"Honestly... I have no idea," Lloyd admitted as he looked down with a conflicted look. "I mean, on one hand, I'm excited to be a ninja, but on the other hand, I have to fight my father in the near future."
"Hey, I'm in the same boat as you are," Melissa told him. "I also have to fight your father as well, but we don't have to fight him now, so we got plenty of time to prepare for it."
"But, I don't know if I'm gonna be ready by then," Lloyd said with a worried tone. "What if I'm not strong enough to face my father? What if I can't do it? What if-"
"Hey, hey, hey, look at me, Lloyd! Look. At. Me," Melissa said sternly as she grabbed Lloyd's head and made him look at her. "Calm down and look into my eyes, OK?"
"OK," Lloyd said.
"Now, I get it, you are worried about facing your father and, frankly, I am too," Melissa told him. "But I am right here by your side, and I am gonna help you prepare for when it's time to face your father, and as long as we're together, we can handle anything."
Lloyd looked at Melissa and he realized that she was right, and that as long as they were together, they could prepare for anything that was thrown their way.
"You're right, Melissa," Lloyd said with a nod. "Whatever happens next doesn't matter, as long as we're together, and we can handle anything that comes our way."
"That's the spirit, Lloyd," Melissa said with a smile. "Now, come on, Green Ninja, we have a Fang Blade to go after and some Serpentine to take down."
"Right behind you, Purple Ninja," Lloyd said as he and Melissa left the bridge and both prepared for their destiny as The Ninjas of Yin and Yang.

A/N: And that's Episode 10, and Lloyd has been saved, and he and Melissa are The Ninjas of Yin and Yang. This is gonna be very interesting as time goes on, and there was a little hiccup with Kai and his obsession and beef with Garmadon, but at least it was settled. I hope you all enjoy reading this chapter.
