After everything that went down in the loot house, Subaru felt very tired. After all, before he got summoned it was already a pretty hectic few days to say the least. And him getting summoned to another world straight out of nowhere wasn't really helping either.
Not to mention that he had a panic attack during his fight, but that was mainly because of the fact that Elsa triggered his PTSD by cutting herself and spilling her own blood. After the Omni-Man incident, he hasn't been the same. All those people that died from him simply crashing through a building or just him skidding across the road from the punch he received.
His entire costume covered in the blood of thousands of people who died because of the conflict. That was the origin of his PTSD.
And he'd never forget that.
It would stick with him for as long as he lived. Though he has been trying to get rid of the trauma through therapy. But he's barely making any progress on that.
But enough of the sad stuff.
Currently, Subaru was sleeping in a very lavish bedroom of sorts. After all, he did ask Emilia if he could have a place to stay after he saved her life from that crazy woman obsessed with seeing entrails. They rode in her carriage and he met a maid with pink hair on the way.
He didn't think she liked him much, considering that she called him a homeless hobo and the fact that she called him plenty other things. But he was simply too tired to care.
Currently, the young hero was resting in a lavish room that practically screamed "Hey! Rich people live here!". He was sleeping soundly until he was forced to wake up due to some of the sunlight that made its way through the small crack of the curtains.
"Mmmmh...what is it now? I'm pretty sure it's a weekend. . .?"
Subaru mumbled as he took in his surroundings and immediately realized.
"Yesterday wasn't a dream. Holy shit. . ."
Everything that happened the day prior did indeed happen. And from his current predicament, Emilia must have brought him here as a way to pay him back for saving her life. He got up as he checked his bag that practically had everything he brought with him.
"My hero suit seems to be in here as well as my other change of clothing. That's a good thing, I didn't want any strangers robbing me while I was sleeping. But more than that, where am I exactly? I seem to be in a mansion of sorts. . .I was too tired yesterday to really think clearly but I should probably go out and find Emilia and check on her to see how she's doing."
As Subaru walked out his room, he noticed the hallway looked pretty neat. It had paintings, priceless vases, a red carpet floor and everything. But the more he walked, the more he realized he passed by the exact same painting three times now.
"A looping hallway huh? When it comes to stuff like this. . ."
He turned towards a door and walked towards it.
As he placed his hand on the knob and slowly turned it...
"It's usually finding a way out!"
He flung the door open and what greeted him was a grandiose library with books of all kinds. And in the center. . .was a little girl with blond hair. She looked like she had drills for hair.
"Huh. . .first npc found!"
The boy would point at the girl as he said this.
"What a profoundly aggravating man you are, I suppose."
"The hell is a kid like you doing in a library? You should be outside playing in the grass."
Subaru replied nonchalantly to the "little girl's" rude attitude as he just brushed it off with his own comment.
"I'll have you know that Betty is far older than you, in fact! And how did you figure out the entrance to my forbidden library so fast?!"
"Huh? So this is like your forbidden library? I must say, it's quite spacious. Doesn't it get lonely in here?"
"That doesn't matter, I suppose!"
The little girl would then throw a tantrum as she got up and began walking to him.
"What? Are you going to fight me or something? I'll have you know, I could've just busted down your door. I'm pretty strong after all."
As Subaru tried to scare this little girl off, she was already in front of him as she looked upward.
"Don't move."
Was all she said as she placed a hand on his abdomen.
"Any last words, I suppose?"
"Uh...don't hurt me?"
Subaru tried to bullshit his way out of this situation but the little girl wasn't having any of that as Subaru suddenly felt a burning sensation course throughout his entire body as he screamed in pain before falling forward.
"W-What did you do to me you little drill loli?!"
"I must say you look more bearable writhing on the floor, in fact."
The little girl stated as she looked down on him smugly.
"Urgh...I'm guessing you aren't human. Or actually, your personality isn't really human either."
Subaru uttered weakly as his vision became blurry.
"Hmph! It's about time you figured it out, I suppose."
That was all he heard before he entered a state of unconsciousness again.
Sometime had passed since his encounter with the arrogant little loli. Subaru was back inside his room laying in his bed.
As he slowly opened his eyes, he saw a pair of bright blue ones looking back at him. When they were fully opened, he saw a maid. She had blue hair that was covering one of her eyes. And Subaru had to admit. . .she looked pretty cute.
"Did I die? Cause I think I'm looking at an angel. . ."
He mumbled as the blue haired maid blushed and shyly looked away as she got out of his field of vision. And as he rose up from the bed, he saw her embracing another maid that looked exactly like her except she had pink hair instead.
"No sir. . .you are not dead. You're currently residing in the estate of Roswaal L. Mathers."
The maid answered.
"Rem, it appears our guest is a hopeless pervert. Look at his gaze. You're being violated in his mind."
"Yes, I completely agree née-sama. Guest-sama, I offer you to take my sister instead."
"No guest-sama, take Rem instead."
The two maids stated with blank expressions on their faces as Subaru began sweating a bit.
"No no! I wasn't doing any of those things, and I'm not a pervert! I was just complimenting her is all!"
At that moment, a knock was heard as the door opened. The person who knocked was Emilia.
"Good morning Subaru. How are you feeling? Did you sleep well?"
"Oh hey Emilia. I slept perfectly fine. I just feel a little sluggish is all."
Subaru greeted the half-elf as he smiled at her.
"Listen to this Emilia-sama, my dear sister was just violated by this man."
The blue maid known as Rem stated as she pointed toward Subaru.
"Please listen to this, Emilia-sama. Rem was held prisoner and shamed by that man."
The pink maid also pointed towards Subaru.
"I already told you both I didn't do anything!"
The agitated Viltrumite exclaimed.
"You two, don't tease him too much."
Emilia stated as she walked towards the bed.
"Yes, Emilia-sama. My sister is very sorry."
"Yes, Emilia-sama. Rem's sorry, as well."
They both stated with elegance as they both struck the same pose. They were definitely twins.
'Sorry my ass. . .'
Subaru thought with an annoyed look on his face.
"Are you alright Subaru?"
"Oh yeah! I'm totally fine Emilia-tan!"
"Huh? 'Tan'?"
"What does 'Tan' mean?"
Emilia asked.
"Oh, it's just a nickname. Seriously though, thanks for helping me out back there when I had my panic attack. I really owe you one."
Subaru bowed.
"No, I'm the one who should be thanking you. You barely know me, but you risked your life to save me. It's only natural I'd repay you for helping me."
Save her.
Yeah...he did SAVE her didn't he? A ruthless monster like him saved her. He could've swore he put that hero crap behind him. After all, he didn't deserve the title of Hero.
'But I didn't really have a choice, if I didn't do anything...those people would have died. So it was fight or flight. But it was just like when I saved that kid from being ran over, it was like my body moved on its own at times. . .'
"Yeah. . .I guess so."
Subaru nodded his head.
After Subaru got out of the bed, he asked the maids where his clothes were. They were just being washed. So Subaru decided he'd wear another set of clothes he packed for himself. He wasn't in a mood for the more casual look this time around. So he instead, decided to wear his tracksuit. Only difference is that his tracksuit jacket had a hood in the back. So it was more or less a hoodie.
(I literally looked up his tracksuit but as a hoodie)
And now currently, the young viltrumite was in the yard of the mansion. Taking in the fresh air and just enjoying the scenery as he did some morning stretches, not aware of the fact that he was being watched by the rude loli he came across earlier.
"I suppose I could get some morning workouts in. It's been awhile since I last did any workout sessions after what happened."
Subaru got started on doing 100 squats before moving to 100 push-ups.
Once he was done with that. . .
"Now for those 100 sit-ups."
He needed to get back into shape. Of course, he had no intention using his super powers in this new world. After all, he wanted to live a normal life.
But the night prior said otherwise. If there were more people like that crazy woman running around, then he wasn't taking any chances.
'Maybe I could be a bodyguard for the mansion...I don't think I'd do well being a butler.'
Subaru thought to himself as he was now on his 90th sit up. Not aware of the fact that someone came up from behind.
"91. . .92. . .93. . .94. . ."
"Ummmm. . .Subaru?"
"Hm? Oh! Hey Emilia-tan. What brings you out here?"
Subaru asked as he continued.
"Well I was wondering where you were and saw you out here. So I wanted to see what you were doing."
"99. . .100!"
Subaru sat down to catch his breath as he looked at the half-elf.
"Just a morning workout routine. I used to do this all the time back at home."
"Ohhh...no wonder you're so strong. The way you fought that woman was amazing!"
"Wait really? I feel like I kinda messed up the moment I had that panic attack though..."
Subaru stated as he rubbed his head a bit.
It was then that Puck decided to make himself known and give his two cents.
"Honestly Subaru, Lia is right. You were pretty amazing out there. Though your panic attack was concerning. Did something happen to you to cause such a reaction from seeing a small bit of blood?"
The spirit asked, "unaware" of the fact that he was somewhat entertaining personal territory.
Subaru stood quiet for a bit as he had more memories of that horrible incident.
"Kenichi and I were wrong to raise you two as. . .humans. You're both Viltrumites in blood only! You're true education begins. . .now."
"You're fighting so you can watch everyone around you die! BOTH OF YOU THINK! You outlive every insignificant being on this planet. . .you LIVE to see this world crumble to dust and BLOW AWAY!"
". . ."
"Subaru. . .?"
"Everyone and everything you know, will be gone!"
"WHAT WILL YOU HAVE AFTER 500 YEARS?!"
". . ."
"Subaru? Are you alright?"
Emilia placed a hand on Subaru's shoulder as he snapped out of his flashback, hiding his hidden rage at the little shit known as Puck for asking such a question in the careless manner he had asked it in. And the anxiety of being reminded of such a thing.
"I'm fine Emilia-tan. . .just remembering some bad stuff that happened before I got here that's all."
"Subaru. . .if you want to talk about-"
"I'm fine. Really, I am. So can we just drop it, please?"
Subaru cut her off with a firm tone as all Emilia did was nod her head, seeing that he wasn't in the mood to speak about his past.
That was when the twin maids came out to the yard.
"Emilia-sama, Roswaal-sama has returned."
"Alright then. We'll be there you two."
The half-elf then turned to Subaru.
"Come on Subaru. I'm sure Roswaal wants to thank you personally for saving my life and probably offer you a reward."
"I see. Alright then...lead the way I guess."
As they walked down the extravagant hallway full of expensive items and paintings all around the place, Subaru couldn't help but wonder who exactly this Roswaal person was.
At first he thought Emilia owned the mansion since he was under the assumption that this was her house. And she looked rich when they first met so no one could really blame him.
As he made it into the dinning room, he was left awestruck. Looking around the place as if he was a child that just entered a theme park for the first time.
"Whoah. . .! This is one hell of a dining room you have here. It's like those very pricey restaurants back at home!"
Subaru uttered as he was soon interrupted by a nearby voice.
"I have seen your pathetic display from upstairs, in fact. And I must say, you really are an absurd man, I suppose."
"Huh?! And where the hell do you get off to saying that you damn loli?!"
"What does that word even mean? You're made up words irritate me, in fact!"
"We'll just because you never heard of it doesn't mean it's made up. And besides, you do know that ALL words were made up at some point right?"
Subaru said with a shit-eating grin.
"Why you-!"
"Hey Betty! How has it been these past four days?"
The moment Puck made himself known, the drill loli immediately changed her demeanor to that of a young child.
"Bubby! I missed you! Will you stay with me today, I suppose?"
"Sure! I have today free anyway, so we can spend it together!"
Puck leapt from Emilia's shoulder onto Beatrice's open hands.
"Hehe! Yay!"
The blond spirit celebrated as she spun around the room while Subaru found himself annoyed at the sudden shift in demeanor, his right eye slightly twitching as he had the urge to punch the nearby wall.
But he stayed calm.
'Breathe Subaru, breathe. She's just a kid, and besides. . .I don't wanna show off my abilities yet. . .I have no reason to.'
"Bewildered aren't you? Beatrice just loves playing with Puck."
Emilia giggled at his side.
"Who even says 'bewildered' in this day and age?"
"My! My! How unusual to see you here, Beatrice! I'm s~o happy that you decided to to di~ne with me."
A man dressed like a clown walked into the room. He wore extravagant clothing and seemed to play a serious role in all of this. But to Subaru, he simply looked like a jester who's job was to entertain the residents or guests in the mansion.
"I'm not here for that moronic fool of that's what you're asking. I just came to spend time with Bubby, I suppose!"
Subaru ignoring that last comment from the drill loli, walked up to the man.
"So uh...you're the owner of this place?"
Subaru asked as the man smiled down at him.
"In~deed I am. I am Roswaal L. Mathers, owner of this land. And I know quite a lot about you. . .Natsuki Subaru."
Subaru was going to be apart of a pretty eventful dinner to say the least.
