Guardians and the NFC East Rusherz
Part 12 Finale: WE ARE THE GUARDIANS
May, 23 2014; Aultman Hospital...
Things were finally slowing down since the events of the Draft. The entire league was now on off-season and vacation mode which was needed, especially on what happened a few days ago.
Ish: *holding a present* I never thought I be so happy to be at school, these past couple days have been insane.
Tua: I know, and it's finals weeks too. I've never been so happy to be stuck on a question.
The team was walking down the hospital halls looking for the room the Rusherz were in.
Ash: Least it was a good distraction...Liberty's is being discharged today right? I know the league told us it was today but I want to double check.
Ish: Yeah, the Docs gave him the okay to rest back at the HOK. He's still benched and needs to take it easy, but at least he's going to be home.
Marty: That's good. He's healing well too so, he should be back to normal before we know it.
Ricky: You think they'll like the surprise? Know Ash told me you've been looking for a good frame.
Ish: Hope so, thanks again you guys for the help with this.
Troy: *smirks* Just happy to help. Besides this was the easiest mission we've been on in weeks.
Rest of the Guardians: VERY TRUE.

One of the doctors was looking over Liberty's wounds with Freefall, the others watching from the side.
Doctor: Well, good news is your internal wounds are healing up nicely. Your left lung is functioning properly, as well as your liver, intestine, and stomach..still amazes us how you manage to survive these injuries. Your arm and leg should be fine in a couple of weeks as well, and there is no sign of brain damage from your blunt trauma. Also, your left rib cage is mending well too, should be healed up in no time.
Liberty (in a wheelchair): That's good to hear. As for um..the outer wounds?
Freefall: Burns should start to fade in a couple of days with aloe and treatment. You stitches for your lacerations will begin to deslove soon since they are closing up more. I'm just glad the bleeding finally stopped.
Lasso: -sighs- We all are, it had gotten to the point I was worried you were going to pass out from blood loss each day.
Liberty: Sorry about that-
Chief: *hugs him gently* Hey, we're just happy your alive. That all that matters to us.
Liberty smiled as the doctor got up, opening the door and seeing the Guardians in front of him.
Doctor: Ah, i was wondering when you were coming in. I heard you were going to escort our friends back home.
Ish: Yeah, the Commissioner wants to make sure they get home safely-
Bolt: MAINLY because the league wants to make sure nothing happens with us again after, ya know...giving them the hugest aneurysm in the history of the league.
Scavenger: Do not blame them though.
The doctor smiled as he left the room.
Doctor: Will get the release papers and you all can head home.
With that he was gone, leaving only the Guardians and Rusherz.
Bolt: Hope school went well for you kids, know it's finals week in most schools at this time of year.
Ish: School went great, we were actually happy to see a test in front of us this time around.
That got some of them chuckling.
Pillage: Oh shards that's how insane this month was for you guys.
Marty: *smirks* Oh yeah, that's how insane this month was. But we're us to it.
Fang's ear flicked as he became the first to notice the present.
Fang: *curious* Hey kids...*eyes the present*.
Their smiles grew at this as Ish handed the present to Liberty.
Tue: Was hoping one of you would notice. This was the works for a while, Ish actually found it before Ash became a Guardian.
Ish: Hardest part was finding the right size without revealing our identities as Guardians.
The Rusherz looked at the present as Liberty (with the help of Stampede and Freefall) unwrapped it... all their eyes widen in shock seeing what the present was.
Toro: NO WAY! I thought we lost this!
It was a framed picture of all thirty two of them in front of the Hall of fame, smiles on their faces as all of them were crowded in a mid tackle. The frame was wooden, silver in coloring with stars and waves engraved in the wood.
Ash: Ish kept it in the Guardian Playbook till we found a frame. We had no idea what would work with it so we had some help from our families.
..All thirty two were smiling.
Spot: Oh man does this bring back memories! This was our first season with thirty two teams.
Fang and Beast chuckled rubbing their heads.
Fang: Man our division slaughtered us that year.
Beast: I know, not the way I wanted to start our tenure in Ford Field.
Soar: I know, I really thought my division was going to have all four teams with nine it would have been so cool to have that again! That season was interesting.
Grizzly: Wasn't this the last season to have the Super Bowl in January?
Tua: Oh yeah, they changed that the next year to February.
Blow-Torch: Not gonna be the last time the playoff and Super Bowl date will change. Will say despite all thirty two teams being at play the first season with all of us was, calm.
K-9: Yeah...-sighs- Might of lost some good folks but, it was tame compared to last season.
Pillage: Agree. *smirks* IF I RECALL, a certain Buc won their first Super Bowl that year?
Peg-Leg: *blushes* A-Aye, still was scared since we were going up against your team.
All of them were looking at the picture with smiles, before looking at the kids.
Liberty: Thanks you kids, we got worried we lost it. Wanted to get a frame but, things got crazy once we hit the preseason that year.
Ish: Your welcome, and sorry it took longer than expected.
Stampede: It alright, agree it must of been hard finding a frame with your jobs in mind.
Freefall: And the frame is perfect, really love the engraved stars.
Ricky: Had a feeling you would like the design. We're really glad you guys love the frame.
Liberty warmly smiled at them, small tears pricking his eyes.
Later, HOK...
Marty: ANNNDDD...*Jumps down the stairs* TA-DA! Home sweet home!
K-9: *laughing;going down stairs* I swear your energy can rival the Megacores sometimes Marty.
Marty chuckled as the rest came in, Liberty being helped down the stairs.
Freedom: Home, finally home.
Talon: Even though we were gone for a couple of days, it's good to be back.
RZ: *appears* Its good to have you all back, Rusherz.
All turned to see RZ at his post, smiling warmly at them.
Ish: Hey RZ, good to see you online. Hope nothing happened while we were gone.
RZ: No Anticorians or Blitzborgs have appeared on the radar, all has been silent since that day.
Liberty: *nervous*..So uh...ya heard?
RZ: Yes..I heard, I also had to help with some of the scientist with overlooking the remains so I also saw everything.
Liberty had to cringe hearing this, blushing hard as he looked away trying to hide himself.
Freefall: *nervous* So...you really looked into that?
Ash: They did, kept us out for good reason. We do have some new information though. We discovered that, whatever that commander was, he was no longer flesh or blood inside and out.
Ish: Yeah, mom told us all his organs, veins and skeleton was replaced with tech and fuel...in other words, he wasn't a living being anymore. Given this new information, it is possible that most of his army and followers were given the same treatment when they reach adult hood.
Sonar: *thinking* So he weaponized his army and removed any and at all forms of life. *shivers* Shards that's chilling, does explain why he was easily, FRIED so to speak.
Scavenger: I-I know, just..what I saw now makes alot of sense.
Troy: Just makes those three more of a threat too, just because this one was taken down doesn't mean all of them will be stopped easy.
Tua: You guys need to be cautious and start upgrading yourselves too, can't just be us with this in kind.
Grizzly: *nods* Very good point and idea there. If this whole ordeal taught us anything, we need to upgrade and improve ourselves as well.
Sandra: *appears with Lt. Matt* Not just by power mind you.
All turned to Sandra, Matt, RZ and the Guardians nodding in agreement.
Ish: Let's be honest, you all have inner turmoils that you kept deep inside for decades. All that happened these past years was proof you need to release all that.
The Rusher blushed, but they nodded in agreement.
Bolt: Y-Yeah, just...we thought living on Earth would quell those thoughts, worries, traumas and fear but *trails off*.
Alto: Think that was thrown out the window when Sudden Death appeared on Earth, even more so during the 2012 season.
Lt. Matt: Oh yeah. It doesn't help that you all kept these things to yourselves either, that just lead to all those boil over events happening. We were wondering if you all were holding back and after this, that was proven true.
The Rusherz were fully red, full of nerves as some looked away.
Lasso: *nervous* W-Well, there's a good reason. We don't want y'all caught in the crossfires given our powers and abilities. I mean our first three decades on earth we were terrified with how those two concepts have increased significantly.
RZ: *eye raise* So you all are aware?
The Rusherz flinched as they all looked at the Guardians, Sandra, Matt and RZ.
Swoop: *nervous* YES...we are aware. And before all start asking why we didn't tell anyone; well how are we suppose to tell you due to our abilities being enhanced to the point of accidentally we got a vision of the future from a spirit, Pack can temporary freeze part of a stormy river during a thunder storm, and nearly took out an tri state area of a country in which the entire world and us discovering that the Red Eye Syndrome has increased to the point it could be extremely fatal. And those are just the footnotes, tell me how do we explain all that to all of you?
All nine of them stared at the Rusherz in shock, blinking as just those three footnotes sank in their minds.
Ish:...*DONE* Okay that's it. THAT IS IT. THAT IS ENOUGH OF THE INSANITY FOR THE TIME BEING FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU.

Roger Goddell (on screen): *eye twitch*..OF COURSE! OF COURSE THEY CAN SUMMON SPIRITS!
Ish gave a sheepish grin as the others watched from afar, the Rusherz now fully red in embarrassment.
RZ: I do believe we start looking more into your powers and abilities very soon.
Chief: *sheepish* YEAH UH...We're all going to be benched are we?
Ish: *Walking* Wouldn't say bench. More like Goddell and the entire league, us included, are making you guys take a LONG VACATION. July 1 to the 12th.
All Humans and RZ: NO ARGUMENT.
They were...surprised to see the Rusherz blush fading as they pondered on this.
Steed: You know...I think that will be nice.
Rampage: Yeah I think we need a break after all these events. We all do.
Ricky: Proving our point here you all need to take it easy. Even your agreeing to this.
Peck: *nods* Y-Your right...
Alto: Your all right, we need a break from all this.
Troy: Don't worry about the league and the HOK, we'll take care of things here while your gone.
Tua: Know the others would want to pitch in too, so there be plenty of eyes watching out for any trouble.
Grizzly chuckled, nodding at that notion.
Grizzly: Figured they would jump in, especially after this fiasco.
Freedom: Then I guess our forth of July is going to be on vacation, remember there's a island called Sanibel in Florida we can stay in.
Ash: And it's one of the less crowded beaches too, so you guys don't need to worry about any disturbances.
Ish: Which after what happened this past season, is needed.
They chuckled at that nodding.
Bolt: Sorry, kinda my fault I got the ball rolling there. *smiles* But it will be nice to just have the thirty two of us.
RZ: So, it is decided then.
All: Yes!
Liberty slowly leaned into Stampede, Freefall checking on him as the others grew worried.
Stampede: Whoa there, you okay?
Liberty: *tired;smiles* Meds kicking in, gonna be a little while longer till I can stay awake longer.
Freefall: Oh yeah, let's get you to bed. *looks up* Catch up with you all later.
With that the Rusherz waved goodbye as they headed to their Quarters, the humans waving with smiles.
Sandra: As much as this was alot, think this revelation was what they needed.
RZ: Affirmative. I do believe this venture has become the start of new for all of us.
Marty: Sure hope this is a new beginning for them.
Ish smiled as he nodded.
Ish: It is, and we'll be there every step of the way. It's our jobs after all.
That got the others smile to grow more.

Liberty was sound asleep as Freefall turned off the light, going out to meet Stampede with smiles.
Ish's voice: Know it's not gonna be easy, and who knows when Zatu is going to make an appearance again.
The two walked out seeing the others talking to eachother, smiles on their faces. Bolt and Rampage waved over to them, the rest of the west division of both side turning to see the two come out. Chief was snoozing with Arrow-Head, Pillage looking at a photo album as Lasso read.
Ash's voice: True. But no matter what we're going to put our all into protecting not just the world, but the universes as well.
Freedom went over handing Lasso a drink, smiling as he went back to the rest of the AFC East and the AFC east. Soar had his oxygen mask off as he relaxed in his spot, smiling as Freefall and Stampede walked over.
Troy's voice: Yeah there will be days where it's gonna be crazy, strange even, but at this point we're ready for any of that stuff.
Spot was curled up next to Alto as he, and both AFC and NFC South Rusherz, watched as the old footage of games of old played on TV. Peck was looking over the roosters with some of the other Rusherz for next season.
Tua's voice: We keep a level head for them, or them for us, and we're going to be fine. No matter what we'll help any way we can.
Pack and the rest of the NFC North turned to the AFC North Rusherz as Pack gave a sly grin showing his with Grizzly chuckling, prompting Blow-Torch to bring the Packer Rusher in a head lock nogging him as the others laughed.
Marty's voice: Pretty sure there are going to be funny and sorrowful days too, we're gonna make sure they have alot of laughter and comfort.
K-9 was laughing as he shoke his head, Swoop having got up and looking over the rosters. Freefall and Stampede smiled warmly as they went to the wall, the others curious as they walked over.
Ricky's voice: No matter the situation, not matter where we're playing, no matter what the future holds for the league, we'll be there.
Peck flew off before coming back with a nail and hammer, quietly nailing it to the wall as Stampede put the frame up. They smiled at it, before turning to what was besides.
All six: AFTER ALL-
...
WE ARE THE GUARDIANS.
Another frame with a photo of all thirty two of them and the six Guardians at last year's hall of fame ceremony, all smiling towards whatever awaited them.

And that was the finale to the 'Guardians and Rusherz' series. I really had a fun time writing this and taking a deeper depth into the Guardians and Rusherz relationship (outside of fighting alongside eachother in the show).
