Something More?: A Pokemon Story
Episode 10- Cerulean City: Part Five- And The Winner Is…
"Here we are. The final round of the Cerulean City Pokemon Contest. The winner of this match will win the Cerulean Ribbon! To my right is Serena, and to my left is Drew! This will be a double battle with a 5 minute time limit."
"Delphox and Altaria, come on out!"
"Roserade and Masquerain, let's go!"
All four Pokemon come out with hearts and strings coming out also, due to the capsule seals.
Roserade moveset: Solar Beam, Petal Dance, Mega Drain and Magical Leaf
Masquerain moveset: Silver Wind, Ice Beam, Hidden Power, Quick Attack
"Let the battle begin!"
"Masquerain, Hidden Power!"
"Hidden Power as well, Delphox!"
Both Hidden Power attacks collide, creating an amazing sparkle shower.
"And we are starting off strong, with Hidden Powers colliding!"
"Altaria, Sky Attack!"
"Magical Leaf!"
Altaria uses Sky Attack with amazing grace (no pun intended), and uses the Magical Leaf to wrap around its body, and hits Roserade with the combination.
"Drew's attempt at blocking Sky Attack with Magical Leaf fails, with Altaria using the Magical Leaf to its advantage. Loss of points for Drew!"
"Roserade, you doing alright?"
"Rose!"
"Alright, Petal Dance! Masquerain, Silver Wind!"
"Psychic, Delphox! Flamethrower, Altaria!"
The Petal Dance and Silver Wind combination combine into one, while the Flamethrower is split by the Psychic into two directions. The Petal Dance/Silver Wind combination hits Delphox and Altaria, but with minimal damage. The two Flamethrower paths hit both Roserade and Masquerain, with Roserade taking more damage due to the Psychic attack.
"Roserade!"
"Rose. Rose!"
"Thank goodness. Masquerain, you alright, too?"
"Querain!"
"More point loss for Drew!"
(in his head) "This isn't good. I need to pull something out of my pocket here quick, or I'm going to be defeated here quick."
"Delphox, Hidden Power! Altaria, Dragon Breath!"
"Dodge them both!"
The Hidden Power and Dragon Breath both miss, which is a huge relief to Drew. He now has a two-pronged approach. Hit and move, over and over.
"Roserade, Magical Leaf!"
"Dodge it, Altaria!"
"Masquerain, Silver Wind on Altaria!"
Magical Leaf misses Altaria, which was Drew's plan all along, and with Altaria immobile, and Silver Wind directly hits Altaria.
"Looks like Drew is planning a comeback, and with 90 seconds gone, its the perfect time to do it! Serena has lost some points."
"Delphox, Flamethrower!"
"Dodge it, Roserade!"
"Dazzling Gleam on Roserade, Altaria!"
Flamethrower is dodged, but Dazzling Gleam hits Roserade right on the money.
"Right back at you, Drew!"
(to himself) "Damn it! She's got my number. What do I do now? Can't do that or else she'll get me with the same approach."
"Looks like Serena has figured out Drew's strategy. Another point loss for Drew, about halfway through with points."
In the crowd with Ash, Brock, Misty and Tracey.
"Damn, she's wiping the floor with Drew."
"So far. Drew might pull something desperate out."
Back to the battlefield.
"Masquerain, Quick Attack!"
"Mystical Fire!"
Masquerain is a little too quick for Mystical Fire to hit, dodging it successfully, allowing Quick Attack to hit.
"Roserade, Solar Beam!"
"Looks like Drew is going for a big time move in Solar Beam, but how much time will that take. 2 minutes left!"
"Sky Attack!"
"Dodge it, then release Solar Beam!"
Pulling off an amazing manuever, Roserade dodges Sky Attack, then releases solar beam towards Altaria, hitting it with amazing power.
"And Solar Beam makes direct contact with Altaria! Major loss for Serena."
"Altaria, are you okay?"
"Tar!"
"Awesome, Delphox use Hidden Power! Altaria, Dragon Breath!"
"Ice Beam, Masquerain! Petal Dance, Roserade!"
All four attacks collide with one another, with both Drew and Serena receiving similar amounts of deductions. For context, Drew has about 33% of points left, with Serena having 40%.
"We are coming down to the wire here, 90 seconds remaining!"
"Mega Drain, Roserade! Masquerain, Ice Beam again!"
"Psychic, now!"
Delphox manages to use Psychic and stop both attacks dead in their tracks.
"Dragon Breath on the attacks, Altaria!"
Dragon Breath is used on the attacks, creating a blue hue around the attacks.
"Send it back, Delphox!"
"PHOX!"
"Dodge it!"
The transformed attacks both get dodged by Roserade, but Masquerain is hit, dealing a major blow to it.
"Masquerain?"
"Quer…ain."
"Masquerain can't continue!"
"Alright, Roserade, it's up to you."
"Flamethrower, both of you!"
Both attacks hit Roserade, knocking it out before Drew can even think of saying an attack.
"Roserade is also unable to battle. The winner of the Cerulean City Pokemon Contest is Serena!"
"We did it, guys!"
"Roserade, Masquerain, are both of you okay?"
"Rose, Rose!"
"Querain!"
"Awesome. You guys did great, we'll get a ribbon next time!"
"Drew, nice job!"
"Same to you. You had my number basically all the way. Hope we see each other again on a Contest stage."
"I hope the same thing."
Drew and Serena shake hands, solidifying respect and sportsmanship.
Song of the Day: Turnin' Left- Chickenfoot (2009)
After a few minutes, Serena and Drew are on the stage, with Serena standing on a podium, being awarded the Cerulean Ribbon by Mr. Contesta.
"Let's give a big round of applause for our winner today, Serena from Vaniville Town in Kalos!"
"Thank you, guys!"
"Let's also give a round of applause for the runner-up, Drew!"
"Thank you, Cerulean City!"
"Let's turn it to Mr. Contesta for the presentation of the Cerulean Ribbon."
"Thank you, Lilian. Serena, here is the Cerulean Ribbon."
"Thank you, Mr. Contesta!"
"Alright, we won the Cerulean Ribbon!"
"PHOX, PHOX!"
"TARIA!"
"That concludes the event here in Cerulean City. Enjoy, and get home safe!"
Outside the Contest Hall
"Serena, you did great. Congratulations!"
"Thanks, Ash!"
They both share a kiss, celebrating the achievement.
"Drew and Serena, I got some news to share!"
"Mr. Contesta, what's up?"
"Due to the lack of cities here in Kanto, we've got a solution for that."
"We were concerned about it, too. So, what's the solution?"
"Any contest that any coordinator wins in Kanto or Johto can be used to participate in the Grand Festival at the Indigo Plateau. The Grand Festival will be combined into one. It's something we haven't done before, so we'll give it a try. The amount of ribbons you'll need to get to enter is still the same at 5."
"Cool, thanks Mr. Contesta. Do you know where the next contest is at?"
"Fuchsia City is where it is. It's in three and a half weeks, so there is ample time to get there by foot."
"Thanks a lot. Serena, I'll see you, later."
"See you later, Drew."
"Shall we head back to the gym for the night, Misty?"
"Sounds like a plan, Brock. Tracey, does that sound good?"
"I agree. Let's go back to the gym."
Ash, Serena, Brock, Misty and Tracey go back to the Cerulean Gym, with excitement in the air. Serena is understandably exhausted, and goes to bed earlier than the rest.
The next morning.
"Alright, you two, we got to head out. Got to get to Fuchsia City for the next Contest."
"Ash, see you later. Serena, good luck on your Contests."
"Thanks, Misty. I'll try to win them all. Tracey, keep doing good work on your research and drawings."
"I will."
"Goodbye, see you later!"
"Visit again some time!"
So with that, the Cerulean City Saga has ended, with Serena winning her first Contest. The next few episodes will be eventful to say the least.
