Chapter 14: Battles of the 9 armies part 2

[Bladesborn Karsanas city state alliance Knuck P.O.V]

Knuck was watching his approaching ilk standing on the cliff. He was sitting on a rock with an expression of contemplation. It was a peculiar and rare sight, considering that Knuck was a troll. Trolls tend to be a very dumb, rushed, and aggressive race, but not him. His scar made him stand out from the crowd of other trolls who all looked the same. His furrowed brow and stiffening facial muscles showed his deep in thought. He was dressed in his hunting gear, wearing a long coat made from lizard-like skin. Strapped to it were holsters for various weapons, most of which were not visible from his current position. Behind him, there was a huge balista-like crossbow with legs strapped to his back. It was made from pure adamantite and emitted an ominous glow. The scope of this crossbow reflected light in the middle of the day. His pants were nothing special, though they looked durable. He snorted in amusement as he watched his brethren attempt to climb the walls of the human city.

Though his people thought they were strong in their numbers and might, they were pitifully weak in intelligence and tactics. He didn't know why exactly he even agreed to help them this time in the first place. Then he looked back at the camp before the human city. Right. Women and children of his people, that's why he crawled out of his exile, like always. Probably some of his people did something that made their race endangered. He was almost certain that some troll lit up the entire forest just for the fun of it or for other stupid reasons. Somewhere in the hidden eight fingers base, a certain paladin sneezed and felt guilty for some reason. But not like all the time, he shrugged and returned to beat the shit out of a certain fat noble, making him squeal like a pig. Meanwhile, Knuck stood up, cracking his armored knuckles. But why did the troll have such complex thoughts? It was simple - he had a talent, a powerful one at that. It was called Mindrace. This talent allowed its user to think three times faster than normal people and made him much smarter. However, in human terms, he wasn't a super genius. But when compared to his fellow trolls, he was a god of knowledge. He sniffed the air and smelled what he was expecting - molten tar. His stupid comrades didn't notice it in their battle fury. He sighed and knocked down a rock from the cliff, then pulled out his Balbollina from its holster and placed the crossbow down, extending its legs. He then positioned himself in a crawling position and started taking deep and slow breaths. He brought his eye in front of the scope, but not too close to get hit by the weapon's impact. He relaxed his muscles, although his second eye was shaking under strong pressure, as it always did. Then, as his teacher had told him, he didn't think about it. He just did it. In his mind world slowed to a crawl... He pulled the trigger and a huge shockwave rocked the clif. Then a huge hole was bore through the wall of human city state. He sighed, he despised violence amongst inteligent species, but when it comes to survival he cannot turn a blind eye to it. Through the smoking crater where his explosive bolt landed trolls were already pouring to the city slaughtering the inhabitants and eating them alive. He closed his eyes and got up silently taking his crossbow back to his holster. -If I am gonna waste triplemagic shots that fast soon i will need to visit the old geezer. I do not like that in the slightest, he always wants something in exchange.- He sighed and looked at the sky to calm his thoughts and remained like that until the screams of dying city silenced once and for all.

[Arwintar Baharuth Empire Jircniv rune farlord el nix P.O.V]

It was some time after Gramps' disappearance and the landing of this foul thing that caused my great country to almost split. But with my genius mind and careful planning, I managed to sew my country together. I purged the traitorous nobility with the Furt family on the front. Beheadings and punishments were so long and severe that it took me six days, like gods did when creating the world. And like them, now I rest on the seventh day, waiting for a report.

I was idly looking around my room; it was far less gaudy than the last time. Many golden decorations had been sold to pay off my endeavors. Maybe the palace wasn't as good as always, but I managed to keep the appearance like nothing has changed, masking it with a change of spirit of decorations rather than cutting costs to pay for assassinations and bribes to the temples. But it wasn't for nothing. Baharuth lives, and I still have my head on my shoulders, still because nothing can be sure in these troubling times. For my consolation, it is not like other countries have any better than mine. The Troll's Forest has been set on fire, Karsanas is facing the consequences of that, also with troll raids. The Draconic Kingdom is on its last legs, Re-Estize looks more like a corpse each day. The Dragon Lord states have an infestation of undead, probably because of the emergence of Zurenon that is bold enough to show their ugly head. The Theocracy is... theocracy. For them, it is always very good or very bad, nothing in between.

-Somebody is about to enter the scheduled audience. Are you ready to receive them, my Emperor?- My Minister with the bushy eyebrows said. I only bobbed my head in acknowledgment, still trying to look strong after everything that happened. And failed miserably from the worried look my minister gave me. I flinched. Well, there is nothing I can do about that. Then the doors opened and from them arrived the person that I called myself for my secret investigation or maybe invasion. I was just curious, but from the look on the general's face, I suddenly felt a lump rise in my chest and I could not breathe. Something happened. Is my army defeated? How many casualties? I can't allow myself to lose another head mage, even the half-baked one. This would be more catastrophic than it is right now. He has a lot of titles to give after the purge, and he hopes he does not need to do that again. The silence reigned for a while, and the only sounds that could be heard were the steps of armored boots scraping the royal floor. He looked broken, tired, and done with everything. He had black circles under his eyes that the emperor was too familiar with when he looked at his own face in the mirror. He knew what was already coming; the general kneeled, waiting in silence. -Our army is defeated. This is what you wanted to say, general- I said in a knowing mournful tone. It was to be expected, infamous point zero. What was he thinking? The place that gave dragon lords a run for their money, and now he paid for his insolence. But what came as a choking apology next shocked the emperor in some way. -No, my emperor, our army is doing fine, and nobody has been injured severely.- Skipping the formalities was necessary when it comes to such things, so the emperor just waved his hand at the upcoming scolding of his minister.

-Please continue- I waved my hand again to urge him to continue. Nobody besides my most trusted guards was standing, and the maids had been excused from the throne room. This information is of state-endangered scale. The General gulped and looked into the eyes of the emperor. Then he started speaking, beginning with their sudden problems with supplies and missing caravans. He also mentioned his feeling of being watched. When he came to the part about undead small animals, the emperor gasped and the minister flinched but remained in place. Then he mentioned one of his men seeing a pair of yellow, lifeless eyes watching them from the forest. At that moment, he dismissed it as foolish, but now it seemed significant. He continued by describing an elder lich cabal composed of at least 10 elder liches in formation flying above them without stopping. He relayed his thoughts as if he were telling a tale. When he mentioned that the elder liches flew towards Baharuth's room and froze in place, the emperor's complexion grew even paler, if that was possible. And for a moment, the General thought a strand of hair fell from the emperor's head upon hearing that news. However, he dismissed it as his imagination and tired mind. Then, the emperor extended his hand to his robes and pulled out a healing potion, greedily chugging it while holding his stomach. With a wave of his hand, he gave his permission to continue. The more he talked, the more serious and disturbed he sounded. He mentioned the moment when the elder lich showed the sealing crystal and his preparation for the impact. Finally, he said what he wanted to say from the beginning. -Then, next to the leading elder lich, a character in desecrated theocracy robes teleported, and he started speaking. He said something about not wanting to hurt us on his debut. Then, the elder lich broke the crystal and the other elder liches disappeared. They were just illusions.- The General gritted his teeth in frustration and squeezed his eyes shut in shame.

-And?= I asked shifting in my throne looking at the general intently. Come on! Spit it out! He then raised his head.- Then I asked him something to lift my suspicions he lifted his helmet and i saw a monster with a head of octopus, it had lengthy tentacle beard that he stroked with refinement, The voice was similar, posture and bearing was the same, his apperance was different but I was certain who it was... It was...- Everybody leaned forward even the profesional guards leanded a little at his outburst and then he said the name nobody was expecting to hear now.

-He was Fluder Paradyne the Triad magic caster.-

Today emperor was sent to the best cleric in Empire to heal him from his madness, but it seems, there is no progress at this point.

[Dungeon, Trial Chamber Multiple P.O.V]

We were waiting for the rings to align in a specific place so that we could extract the valuables hidden inside. For now, I was feeling good, cathartic even. After my shameful display, I tried to gather the rest of my dignity and push us all to work on solving this puzzle. It appears that by standing on different pressure plates located in front of those pictures, you are able to rotate the rings below to align them in the optimal position for the beams of light to cross with them. All of this was accompanied by a horrible scraping sound, like grinding stone on stone. Well, in truth, it is just that. From my position above the locked doors, I could see my control panel and everyone on their respective pressure plates, ready to begin our solving of this puzzle.

- Evileye, now it's your time! Gagaran, step out! - Then Evileye stepped on the pressure plate and activated it with her childish weight. After Gagaran left the device, her ring stopped rotating and pointed straight at the locked door. The mechanism was constantly working and rotating on its own, so we needed to time it perfectly with the strange prism that fractures the light in a specific way. With my consoles, I was able to manipulate it up and down and connect them to the mirrors on the ceiling so they reflect downwards instead of upwards, as is the default. I managed to do that, and now Evileye's ring was almost perfectly located... I forgot her name, shit! - Edgy girl! - I called, and Gagaran burst into laughter while choking on her beer. Lakyus, ah! Yes, Lakyus went beet red and stepped on the plate anyway, sending me a murderous look, but not worthy of Bukubukuchagama, who stands beside me and still eyes me with her eyeless accusing gaze after I let my kitten go astray. - Do not worry, Buku, Amadeus will find her soon.- I said it to her as well as to myself, It would be very irresponsible of me to lose a pet like that. And I am parading myself as a god to those mortals. Umu... there is a long path before I will get it all. -Evileye, step out!- I said more forcefully and Evileye jumped out of the pressure plate and her ring arrow pointed at the door like the rest. The first was slowly rotating out of place. I clenched my skeletal teeth, and then the final and closest ring to the middle snapped in place and we heard a loud click, and the doors opened. Or more like collapsed on the spot, revealing the inside. I used [Fly] and jumped down to look inside with everyone else. Well, it was kind of stupid. I could just summon a death knight to remove the door from its hinges safely. Why didn't I think of that? Umu, ah yes... my paranoia. I was afraid of damaging the contents because of some bullshit safety mechanism. It was a pretty common practice back in Yggdrasil. Shitty devs loved to punish rushed players like that.

We were staring at the gaping dark void for a while then we heard furious hissing coming from the inside. It was... very famialiar demonic hissing that entire kingdom could go deaf. I opened my inventory pulling my hand to a dark void and imagined myself an item I was looking for. From gaping void my bony hand came out with a steaming dish in tow. It was Christmas spirit, one of the common drops when player played in one day of the year, well I got at least 10 thousand more of them in my inventory stacked on top of another. I didn't even know how I still had it there. But I guess it will come in handy since game became reality and stuff. I placed it on the ground to the blue roses amusement. Then in the darkness something stiffened and relaxed and from it you could se pair of golden shining eyes with vertical irises coming slowly towards us. Evileye were confused since her sense of smell was much better as a vampire than the rest of them so she could smell that whatever it was it wasn't a cat, It smelled more like a human mixed with cat. It was confusing for her. Those two smells shouldn't mix. Well maybe in very old ladies it mix but not in such a Evileye. Then from the shadows a female human face popped out to the astonishment of everyone including Ainz. Well it wasn't what he planned for, and this reveal was sudden and not needed. She came out on all fours in maid costume that was tearing apart. She lowered her head and just started munching with her face on the fish that was on the side of dumplings and rice. I heard a sharp inhale behind me. Oh boy here she goes.

-WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT-Lakyus screeched scaring the catgirl away but before she could go I snatched her in my bone grip and carried her in a princess carry while being scratched on in the face by cat girl with anger issues. I sighed. I really do not have time to explain that right now. -Listen Edgy girl I..-I started but I heard familiar pinging in my head, it was upcoming message.

-WHAT DID YOU JUST CALLED ME?!-She screeched while rest of blue roses were laughing on the floor at her cost. She screamed something about me being a hipocrite because I am edgy lord myself. But I couldn't care less when I received a distress call from one of my elder liches. I listened for a while and thankful for my idea of establishing a comunication center housing an elder lich cabal that will receive and encode magic spell [message] and other ways of comunication as well. But what he said next frozen me to the core.-...Stop! Bellriver Code 89871 Stop!...- It was one of the codes used on the disaster like scale endangerment to the base. And this was highest possible number at that, signaling powerful presence lurking nearby. Could it be... Dragon lords?... No, they are still alive and from what they are saying it is already over and everything is fine now. Everything was muffled by now, Clementine scraching and hissing, Lakyus temper tantrum...Laughing of blue roses, rotation of gears underneath the puzzle.. It all was dull. Then somebody slapped me on my bony face.

-Hey! Everything is all right?-Evileye was asking with worried expression. Blue roses weren't laughing right now, even Clementine calmed down looking at me with her tongue out tilting her head adorably with her puppy eyes shining. I looked at my hands they were trembling, even Bukubukuchagama ghost vanished and was replaced by Variabletalisman standing in his green armor in the corner looking at me worringly. I shaked myself out of my stupor.

-Somebody attacked my hideout.- I said bluntly. Evileye nudged me to contuinue and I shifted uncomfortably. -I got undead army stationed in Carne village and it seems that they clashed with Re-Estize as we were exploring Dungeon.- I blurted out awkwardly. Next was only pure chaos.

[Carne Village Supreme Being First Volunteer Army Multiple P.O.V]

There was a recent battlefield before an unassuming little village, surrounded strangely by powerful fortified walls made from strange black stone pulsing with purple light and sparks of sickly green. The entire place was swarmed by undead, but not just any undead. They were all organized, moving with purpose and a goal in mind. Some of them were carrying buckets of water to extinguish houses on the far end that were unfortunately hit by trebuchet projectiles. Others were tending to the wounded elves and captured humans. Certain alchemists were crouching before the body of a soldier, hiding behind a tree and munching furiously while cackling madly. Next to him sat a girl with pale skin, holding a wooden basket. She looked completely out of place, yet strangely lovely amidst the feasting monsters. On the edges of the destroyed Re-Estize camp, ballistas and other war machines were being hauled by death knights, while being supervised by elder liches holding clipboards. They were taking notes furiously. In the middle of it stood a certain Caster dressed in desecrated theocracy robes, alongside another equally menacing figure of pure death dressed in armor that gleamed with golden inscriptions, likely freshly stolen from a corpse lying before them. The young and handsome-looking man, who was certainly a prince, had a small prince crown on his head. Although it did not resemble a full-fledged crown, it was equally gaudy. This individual must have been very full of themselves.

Interesting was the state of the body itself. His eyes were bloodshot, and he probably died in horrible pain. His limbs were twisted at an odd angle, making him resemble a fly splattered on the ground.

-Hmmm... it appears that the Death knight fell on him before disappearing, trapping him under a mass of metal,- the octopus-like monster remarked curiously. -Look at his expression and his chest; his lungs probably collapsed. The Supreme one will not be pleased with this. It attracts too much attention towards us.-

As the monster spoke, its tentacle-like beard wobbled and curled in contemplation. He took his gaze away from the dead prince and looked around the battlefield, next to the gate was his improvized prison camp and infirmary it were just couple of tents made from deer skin that elves loved to hunt and after they were leaving lots of ready to use blankets, they mainly used it to make their own tents among the crowns of the trees but now it was useful to keep hostages alive, undead wanted them dead with Khajit on the front but Fluder managed to stop them with those decisions so Supreme one can make them instead. They made a lot of decisions without his aproval lately.

He turned towards the forest and saw countless green eyes, with one of them nodding as he turned his attention towards them. He grunted in displeasure; they will need to uphold their end of the deal. He saw how roots, seemingly by themselves, moved and dropped the bodies of adventurers on the ground for them to see. Job well done, he thought. He saw his apprentice and lab partner in one person. He was proud of the boy and the progress they both made. Who would have thought that you could replicate some spells with the help of potions? That's truly a breakthrough. If only he had such a brilliant mind back then... no. It still would not change anything. He only hopes little Jir is okay. Though he would slay this boy if his master ordered him without a second thought, he still had some sense of attachment to the young Emperor. But his human emotions were slowly fading, like a flame of a candle blown by the wind.

He snapped his head towards the rising sun. And among the rays of sunshine were 6 figures one of them bringed the feeling of familiarity to him and a memory of a certain day when his life were turned upside down by himself none the less. He clasped his hands making squishy sound.

-Our master has returned!-

[Re-Estize, Capitol, Mansions of lord Silverhand Tuareninya Veyron P.O.V]

Tuareninya Veyron was lying on her bed like a broken doll. It had been hours... no, days, since she had been rescued and miraculously healed by an unknown benefactor. But he was a man... would he be like all the others? Would he play the same game? And just when she started feeling a glimmer of hope, he would snuff it out like they all did, only to break her further. She was hyperventilating and needed to calm herself, but she couldn't move, not after what they had all done to her. She tried to move her feet under the sheets, hoping to remember how it felt to walk. Flashes of nightmares opened before her eyes - stained beds and screams behind thin wooden doors... and then her own screams. She finally managed to remember, and the first thing she did was hold her head tightly, trying to claw her hair out. But she was so weak, she couldn't even do that. Then the doors to her room opened with a crack, and somebody stood in the doorway. It was a knight of pure silver. He radiated holiness and hope from his armor. Tiny sparks of light emanated from him and danced around the room. He... he was covered in blood from head to toe. His sword was sheathed, but it didn't give sounds of heavy use. However, his fists were clenched, and blood dripped from them generously.

He took one step towards her direction and this was all enought to broke her and she curled into fetal postion with heavy sobs wreaking her body. She heard heavy steps coming towards her and the bed has squeaked under his body weight, she had still her eyes closed and then the knight... no Paladin released cape from his shoulders and covered her in his cape like a little blanket of hope. Then he started speaking, she didn't knew what he was saying but his voice was so soothing...

She opened her eyes and stared at him taking his cape from her eyes, then she saw... he wasn't human. But she wasn't scared though his insectoid face could not give much clues to expresions in human terms she could feel he was smiling kindly at her, reasuringly like a father to his daughter. For the first time her mind stopped ringing and she could hear what he was saying.

-Poor thing, you suffered so much from the hands of despicable humans, but now you do not have to worry...- He gently removed hair from her face with his armoured hand and looked at her with his four kind big arthropod eyes. She felt hope and kindness radiating from him.

-Why?..-He asked to no one. And he moved closer his head towards her, every other person would freak out and think that this creature want's to eat this unfortunate girl but she only felt his kindness and see his moving mandibles that shifted softly.

-...Because Justice Has Arrived.-

[Azerlisia Mountains Dvarven outpost Multiple P.O.V]

Deep inside the Azerlisia Mountains was an outpost or rather a last improvised fortress of Dwarven hope. He was a general for 60 years and all of his life he lived on the battlefield and fought Quagoa, he was literally birthed on the battle field and lived there his entire life, his mother was one of the oficers responsible for evacuation of Feo Berkana and now he is responsible for the same on the last remnant of their civilization if he fails it is all over. Boulder Ratherrock was leaning over his maps in his dugout cave that he and his soldiers dug out to forify themselves. It was poorly lit but it wasn't something that would inconvience any honest dwarf they all were hardened and hard working. He was a veteran of countless battles of that. He had a well groomed beard that was braided and holded by silver metalic rings, he had a bulky armor made of pure adamantite and enchanted against slashing and piercing damage, he lost count how many times it saved his life, it was crown jewel in great work of one of the greatest runesmiths. Ravino Firebeard It was almost an ancient artifact, that was famile heirloom that his mother weared when she came to give birth to him on the battlefield, and the same armor that was weared by great ancestor of dwarves Lukewarm, nobody remembered his name at this time, he was pictured as a old legend nothing more. But when he saw a blank tree pictured on his armor he knew it had to be the truth. He was wearing it for mountain sake! Another explosion rocked the cave and lights swayed and dimmed for a moment. The light of his improvised abode flashed for a moment a bit brighter and you could see all around were maps of cavern systems, contacts and codes for spell message and maps of ores for some reason. In the middle of the stone room was a granite desk that was filled to the brim with papers and maps. General rubbed his bloodshot eyes looking at the papers with unfocused gaze, his yellow eyes seemed to belong to a walking corpse he looked up towards the entrance in the middle of it stood someone he was expecting to see. He had a stange brown helmet with a stands of spiky blue hair coming from the back of it his arms and legs were cowered in white bandages. He grunted And standed straight from his leaning postion.

-Heaven and earth 12th seat of black scripture what business do you have to do with us.-

12th seat shifted in his postion with his fingers shaking with seasoned fighter habits. He was ready to strike for a moment. Then he stopped and sighed loudly. Relaxing his posture. With this also some tension evaporated from the dwarven general.

-I want the same amount as the last time.- He said in chilling tone. Lifting his head with his expression hidden beneath the mask. The dwarf scoffed.

-We no longer have acces to the mines, and crystals that you want are out of anybodys reach, we almost do not have enough for ourselves..- General argued but a fist to the table shaked him and blowed papers across the room.

-I told you... I need them, that is the only thing that I want and what I need to live.- Heaven and Earth said through gritted teeth. All of them are the same Theocracy, dwarves, other humans, all of them wants to use him for their own gains, and I just can't stand here like a coward like the last time. He thought how he was helpess when his friends fought against this abomination and he could not help them in the slightest, because of his limit and starving body.-My friends..I could not help them last time... if this continues...- He said but general interrupted him.- Your friends? You mean your friends from the black scripture that as soon as they will know you are not a person in their faith will crucify you or set you on fire? You can't lie to yourself Rainbow prince.- As dwarf said that 12th opened his helmet and shown a pair of rainbow eyes shining like a stars and face cowered in freckles with his spiky blue hair popping out of his head. He looked at the general like a hungry drug addict that in some way he was. After staring contest between the two dwarf finaly awerted the gaze and sighed.-You will get your payment tomorrow. Now your primary target is the same as the last time we meet.-Dwarf grunted and started picking his tossed around papers across the room. When he was done Heaven and Earth was already gone.-Huh... youngsters...- He grumbled and set sights on his map. He nodded to himself and rolled the map up.

-This will give us some time. At least two days of delay...-

After that he left his dugout and came to the front lines to listen.

And he heard inhuman screams that warmed his cold stone heart.
