Can of Worms

A few days after Lloyd and Melissa joined the ninjas on the Bounty, the two best friends managed to adjust to living with Wu and the ninjas, while the others managed to get to know them better, and found them to be pretty good kids after getting passed being brats.

The sound of Lloyd whistling was heard as Kai turned on the TV and picked up a game controller to start up the game.

"Hey, Kai, heh, I saw Cole beat your high score," he told him. "You should've seen it. It was pretty spectacular."

"Uh, you must be talking about Sitar Legends," Kai said. "This is Fist to Face 2. No one beats me on my game."

"Really? Huh, I could be wrong. Oh, well, see ya," Lloyd said as he walked away.

When Kai started up the game, he saw that his high score was nowhere to be found, and instead, all he saw was Cole's name across the leaderboard.

"Huh? COOOLE!" Kai shouted in anger.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Cole was stirring a pot filled with red soup.

"Mmm-mmm, Violetberry Soup, my culinary achievement," Cole said to himself. "If the recipe is not followed exactly..." He lifted the spoon to get a taste of it, only to mumble in disgust before he heard Melissa at the door.

"Oh, hi, Cole, just to give you a heads up, I saw Jay trying to spice up your soup," Melissa said through the screen door. "I told him not to do that, but he said that your cooking could use it. Just thought I'd let you know, Cole, bye," she waved as she walked away.

"Pfft! Ugh! Ahh!" Cole spat out his now-ruined soup before giving a rageful look, "JAAAY!"

On the deck of the ship, Jay had training armor on as he stood in front of a robot training dummy. He put on his helmet and readied his nunchucks.

"Let's ease our way into this. How about level 2, shall we?" Jay asked as he pressed a button on the remote.

The sparing bot sparked up a bit before the number nine appeared on the small screen in the middle of it. Jay then heard Lloyd whistling before he turned to see him on the steps.

"Hey, Jay, I saw Zane trying to repair the sparing bot earlier," Lloyd told him. "Isn't that your expertise? Later, bro," he said as he went back up the stairs.

"Wait, what?" Jay asked in surprise by what he said.

Jay then frantically pressed the button on the remote to turn the robot off, but instead, the sparing bot advanced towards him with its weapons spinning like a tornado.

NO! NOOOO!" Jay screamed as the bot proceeded to beat him up, "ZAAANE!"

On the head of the ship, Zane was doing laundry when he saw Melissa walking up to him humming a little tune.

"Hello, Melissa," Zane greeted. "What brings you up here this fine morning?"

"Oh, Kai wanted me to pick up his ninja suit he said that he threw in with your whites," Melissa said as she opened the basket and brought out Kai's ninja gi. "Oh, here it is, thanks, Zane," she said as she left.

As Melissa walked away Zane looked into the basket and saw that all of his white ninja suits had been turned pink after being washed with Kai's red suits as he gave a rageful look.

In the ninjas' bedroom, the four boys started arguing with each other over what Lloyd and Melissa said they did to each other.

"You couldn't just be happy with the top score, you had to rub it in my face!" Kai yelled at Cole.

"You wanna know how long it took me to make that soup? Three days...THREE days!" Cole hollered at Jay.

"It's an unsaid law, OK. You don't touch a man's robot!" Jay exclaimed to Zane.

"How am I supposed to strike ice-cold fear in this? It's HOT PINK!" Zane exclaimed to Kai while showing his now pink gi.

The ninjas were arguing in circles over what happened, and even bringing up the topic of who the Green Ninja was for some reason. Wu walked in and heard them arguing, and he shook his head in disbelief as he walked towards the screen door to the bathroom, and he opened it to reveal Lloyd and Melissa behind the door.

"Ha! Ha! Oh, my God! They really fell for it," Melissa said in laughter.

"Yeah, and I can't believe that worked," Lloyd agreed laughing as well.

The four ninjas turned around and saw Lloyd and Melissa laughing, they were confused why, but then they saw some spices, tools, game controllers, and pink laundry detergent right behind them, and it made them gasp in realization.

"You two did this!" They all exclaimed in rage.

"Boys, I get first dibs on..." Cole spoke first as he walked up to the two kids who flinched before Wu moved in front of him.

"No dibs on my nephew and his friend," Wu said sternly as he looked at his students. "I put them up to this for today's lesson."

"Wait, what?" They all exclaimed in shock.

"Yes, I wanted to show you the destructive power of rumors and that jumping to conclusions can only lead to trouble," Wu explained, "And did you ever think to find out if the accusations were true?" He asked his students about the things Lloyd and Melissa said to them, and how it led them to the argument.

"Uhh, no offense, Sensei, but let me jump to this conclusion: today's lesson is lame," Cole said bluntly.

"Yeah, why can't you teach us how to paralyze your enemy with one finger?" Jay asked, "Or find out if anyone's lying by the twitch of their nose?" He added looking at Lloyd and Melissa specifically.

"Because not all lessons are about fighting," Wu said firmly before looking sheepish, "And I seem to have misplaced my lesson book." He added.

Kai raised a brow as he knew that Wu never misplaced things, but then he saw the book sticking out of Lloyd's pocket as he walked up and grabbed it.

"You mean this lesson book?" Kai asked as he showed the book to Wu before turning towards Lloyd and Melissa.

"Lloyd, I told you to hide it under your bed," Melissa said to her best friend as she gave him a look.

"Hey, I didn't have any time to hide it," Lloyd defended before frowning at Kai, "Besides, it was the perfect plan, until Kai had to show up and mess everything up..." He could've continued if Cole hadn't closed the screen door and the earth ninja wiped his hands.

"If you're done fooling around, I could use you guys on the bridge. We do still have a snake problem to attend to—over and out," Nya said over the PA.

"It's one thing to have the son of your nemesis and his little girlfriend live with you, but having my sister here. I mean, come on, I thought this was a ninja headquarters," Kai complained.

"You do know I can hear you—over and out," Nya told him over the PA as Kai looked embarrassed for saying that out loud.

"We can hear you too, ya know," Lloyd said through the screen door. "This door is paper-thin, so we can hear everything you guys are saying."

"And, call me Lloyd's girlfriend one more time, Kai, you'll wake up with a mohawk or bald," Melissa threatened through the screen door which made Kai gulp nervously.

Everyone soon met up with Nya on the bridge as she turned to them and showed them a map of Ninjago on the big screen.

"Last we heard from Pythor and Rattalia, they stole the map of dens from Lloyd and Melissa," she informed them as she gestured to the map, "And with the Hypnobrai and Fangpyer on the loose, we can only assume that they are on their way to open the last two Serpentine tombs—the Venomari and the Constrictai."

"Ugh! Don't remind us," Lloyd said with guilt and sadness for what happened that day.

"Frankly, I knew Pythor was up to something the moment we met him," Melissa spoke up, "Rattalia, on the other hand, I don't think she's very dangerous."

"What makes you say that?" Cole asked.

"When we met Rattalia, she was shy and nervous around us," Lloyd explained first, "But when we hung out, she seemed to enjoy our company, and we even understood each other about not having our parents with us." He added with a sad tone.

"And, when Rattalia took the map, she looked like she didn't wanna do it, but she had no choice but to follow Pythor's orders," Melissa continued before showing a concerned look. "It almost looked like she was afraid of him like...He might've threatened her."

Everyone shared a shocked and concerned look when they heard that, and they were all wondering how Pythor was treating that poor, young snake.

"If what Lloyd and Melissa say is true, then Pythor is our most dangerous threat," Wu said looking at his pupils, "And if he finds those tombs before we do—with Pythor's intellect and all four tribes unleashed—there's no telling what they will unlock." He said gravely.

"But those last two tombs could be anywhere," Jay pointed out, "And without the map of dens, we might as well just throw darts at a map."

"Good idea, why don't we?" Nya said with a smirk.

Nya then had two darts in her hand, and then she threw them as Kai ducked under them as the darts landed on the map, with the blue dart on the Glacier Barrens, and the red dart on the Cemetery of Souls.

"Show off," Kai said to his sister with a look as she walked past him.

"These are the two locations of the Hypnobrai and Fangpyer tombs," Nya explained before putting a purple dart on the Sea of Sands, "And this is Pythor and Rattalia's tomb. I spent all morning looking over the map thinking there was no connection, but then I discovered a secret pattern."

Nya then held up a flashlight with a serpent symbol on the lens as she faced it towards the map, and lined it up with the three location marks.

"And, as you can see, all three tombs are in line with the ancient Ninjago symbol for Serpent," Nya explained, "And what's more, each tomb is located in the exact same spots where one part of the serpent's belly is touching another," she added while pointing to the spots where the serpent's belly was touching.

"So, the last two tombs must be...here and here," Jay said as he pointed at the remaining points of contact and he gave a smirk to Nya. "Oh, you are so smart," he said flirty.

Nya gave the same flirty look in return. "Ahh, was there ever any doubt?"

Kai rolled his eyes and Melissa gave a small 'awe', finding Nya and Jay flirting with each other to be cute, and Lloyd just stuck his tongue out and let out a small gag.

"There's little time," Wu reminded them as they all looked at him. "Kai and Jay, you head to the Venomari tomb. Cole and Zane, you take the Constrictai tomb," he instructed them before handing the Sacred Flute to Cole, "And take this. You might need it if you run into trouble. Good luck, ninjas," he added.

"What am I gonna do?" Nya asked with a frown.

Lloyd turned to his uncle with a smile. "Yeah, what are we gonna do?"

"We wanna help make things right with you guys too," Melissa added as Nya frowned.

"Well, Nya, I need you here to make sure Lloyd and Melissa don't get into any more trouble," Wu said as Lloyd and Melissa frowned.

"Yes, Sensei," Nya said, a little upset that she couldn't help the others.

"Let's go, boys," Cole said to the others. "We got some snakes to stomp," he declared as they rushed out of the Bounty.

"If you guys see Rattalia, don't hurt her," Lloyd called.

"Yeah, she's not evil," Melissa followed.

Wu watched the ninjas rush out of the bridge as he looked at the map in thought.

"Hmm, where are you, Pythor? What are you up to?" He asked himself.

Near the base of a tall mountain with a million steps that looked like the head of a snake, Cole and Zane arrived on their Spinjitzu vehicles, and the moment they were close enough, the vehicles vanished in a flash before they landed on the ground and they did ninja poses with their weapons. Zane, however, groaned as his suit was still pink.

"Well, our vehicles won't traverse the steps," Cole noted as they looked at the mountain. "We go the rest of the way on foot."

"But, this is the Mountain of a Million Steps," Zane told Cole. "Aren't we pressed for time?"

"Then, we'll take a shortcut," Cole said as he started climbing up the mountain with Zane on his back.

"Am I holding on too tight?" Zane asked.

"Light as a feather, Pinky," Cole told his friend before he looked up, "Almost there."

Cole then leaped another foot up the mountain before they reached the top and into the large snake's mouth. Once they got there, they saw that the tomb was open and a rope had been tied to a rock, all the rest of it was sent down the hole.

"Looks like Pythor was already here," Zane pointed out, "Perhaps, we should investigate."

"Give me a second," Cole said as he panted. "You go on and start without me."

Zane then climbed down the rope and he landed on a stone table with a star in the middle of a swirl inside of it. Zane then took a torch and lit it to light up the room. He soon spotted some drawings on the walls before Cole came down the rope.

"Huh, didn't Mama Snake ever tell him not to draw on the wall?" Cole joked before he joined Zane.

"These images describe a legend about one tribe uniting them all," Zane said as he looked at the images.

"Well, those snakes have been at war with each other for centuries," Cole noted.

"Well, it says here that once they unite, they can find the four silver Fang Blades that will unleash the Great Devourer," Zane translated. "An evil that will consume all of the land, turning day into night."

"You get all that from those little pictures?" Cole asked as he and Zane were unaware of something moving underground.

"This gives me deep concern," Zane said to Cole, "If Pythor's not here and unites all of the tribes together before Kai and Jay find him..."

"Relax, Zane, they're just a bunch of dumb snakes who believe in fairy tales," Cole told him as something moved underneath them. "If anything, we got all the...Did you feel that?"

"What?" Zane asked.

"There's something in the ground," Cole told him as he looked around, "Don't move."

Just then, a large black Constrictai with a long tail, yellow eyes, and dark orange scales down his center popped up from the ground and wrapped his tail around Zane.

"General Ssskalidor'sss the name, and I've been waiting for you," the Constrictai general said. "Pythor sssends his regardssss."

"Did you stay behind just to tell us that?" Zane asked, "Pathetic."

"Look who's calling who pathetic, Pinky," Skalidor told him.

"Only I call him Pinky," Cole said as he swung his scythe around and slammed it into the ground, causing a tremor that made Skalidor let go of Zane before he burrowed underground.

"Zane, go for the ropes!" Cole shouted as he and Zane ran for the ropes, and then Zane jumped on the rock as Cole was pulled underground by the general.

"Cole!" Zane said in shock before Cole was thrown out and crashed on the ground.

Rumbling could be heard as Skalidor was moving underground heading straight for Cole, but he saw it coming, and he quickly stood up and took out the Sacred Flute and played it.

Skalidor shouted as he burst out of the ground and held his head in pain when he heard the flute. He then quickly wrapped his tail around Cole and squeezed him tight to make him stop playing.

"Zane...Zane!" Cole choked out as he was suffocating while Skalidor squeezed him tighter, causing him to drop the flute.

"NINJA-GO!" Zane shouted as he did Spinjitzu and spun his way towards the flute.

Zane quickly picked up the flute and he lifted his hood to play it before Skalidor grabbed him by the throat, and even with the two of them choked up, Zane lifted his hood and played the flute with the breath he had as the general tightened his grip. Zane took one last deep breath and played the final note of the song. After hearing the last note, Skalidor held his head in pain as he screamed and let go of the two.

"Wrap your head around this!" Cole shouted as he picked up his scythe and swung it to knock the general down.

"Ah, good one," Zane told him.

"Thanks, but if he was expecting us, I think Kai and Jay are walking into a trap," Cole said as he put his scythe away. "Come on, let's get out of here." He said as they rushed to the entrance.

Meanwhile, Kai and Jay rode their Spinjitzu vehicles to the Toxic Bogs where the Venomari tomb was located, and in a flash of light, their vehicles vanished and they landed on the ground safely. They spotted the tomb across the bog from where they were.

"Ew!" Jay said as he covered his nose through his mask.

"Hey, it's not me, we're in the Toxic Bogs," Kai explained. "This stuff will eat through you worse than Cole's chili," he added as he picked up a stick before placing it in the bog, and when he pulled it out, they saw it was burned by it.

The two then took to the trees and jumped their way to the tomb. They jumped from branch to branch and swung on a few vines till they reached the tomb. Once there, Jay walked up to the entrance and opened it. As it opened, a yellowish-green gas came out and it smelled horrible.

"P-yew!" Jay said as he and Kai covered their noses.

"P-yew! P-yew! P-yew!"

They heard Jay's echo go off in the tomb which caused Jay to chuckle.

"Let's just make this quick before Pythor gets here," Kai said as Jay went in to inspect the tomb before he heard a splash. "Huh, what was that?" Kai wondered as he walked around the big tree the tomb was in to investigate the noise.

"This place looks empty. We must've just missed them," Jay told Kai. "Hey, check this out. They say you're the Green Ninja of Yang. Well, I say I am."

"I am! I am! I am!"

"I am!" Jay called out again.

"I am! I am! I am!"

As Jay chuckled at that, Kai continued to inspect the place around them. He then quickly took out his sword when he heard a croak, only to find a frog in front of him.

"You shouldn't sneak up on people like that," Kai told the frog as it hopped on a green rock. "Heh, if I wasn't such a well-trained nin..."

Kai stopped mid-sentence when he noticed something odd about the rock the frog was on, before said rock rose from the bog, revealing it to be the Venomari general with four yellow eyes, venom green scales, and white horns.

"Welcome to the land of Acidicusss, General of the Venomari," the Venomari general greeted. "Hope you have a ssspiting good time," he chuckled before he spat venom into Kai's eyes.

Kai quickly closed his eyes when the venom landed, and when he opened them, his eyes glowed venom green, not only that, but his vision became all wavy.

"Jay! Jay!" Kai called out desperately.

"No, I'm the real Jay," Jay shouted into the tomb as his echo sent it back to him.

More Venomari Serpentine rose from the bog as some Constrictai Serpentine with orange scales down their bodies, and grey scales on their faces popped up from the ground, and they all approached Kai. As Kai swung his sword in fear, they surrounded him and with the venom in his eyes, he either saw them as elves or gingerbread people.

"Oh, this is not good. Jay! Jay!" Kai shouted in fear as he called out for his teammate, and Jay heard his cry and went to see.

"There's so many," Kai shouted as he dropped his sword and fell to the ground as he held his head. Jay saw the Serpentine surrounding him. "Elves and gingerbread people everywhere," he yelled in fear.

"OK, I don't know what you're seeing, but this is not the time to lose yourself," Jay said as he took out his weapon. "I need you, partner."

"I've never fought little people before," Kai told him as he stood up and saw the elves and gingerbread people getting closer. "We're toast."

Just then, Zane and Cole arrived, jumping out of their rides and landing on the ground in battle-ready poses.

"Anyone order a little kick butt?" Cole asked as the tomb echoed back.

"Butt! Butt! Butt!"

Jay laughed at Cole's echo when he heard that, but then out from the tomb came Pythor and Rattalia.

"Boo!" Pythor shouted.

"Ahh! They were in there the whole time!" Jay exclaimed as the ninjas backed away.

"Uhh, yeah, we were," Rattalia said nervously. "The echosss were kinda funny though."

As they approached them, Zane took out the Sacred Flute, but before he could play it, Pythor snatched it from his hands with his tail.

"No, let'ssss not let music ruin thingssss, hmmm," Pythor mused to Zane as the ninjas backed up and they were outnumbered. They soon stepped on a large tree log and began to sink and burn the log. "I've got a sssinking feeling thisss may be the lassst I sssee of you four," Pythor added with an evil grin.

"Wait, we're jusssst gonna let them die?" Rattalia asked in shock.

"All for the better, my dear niece," Pythor told her with a sinister tone much to Rattalia's horror.

The ninjas knew there was no way out of this without the risk of being melted. The bog's toxic water was getting closer as the log was getting smaller.

"That's it! I used to hate dragons, but now I officially hate snakes," Cole complained.

"Wait, do you see that?" Kai asked. "A magic floating rope we can climb to safety," he was about to walk off the log before Jay stopped him.

"Boy, that Venomari venom is some powerful stuff," Jay said as the log was halfway gone, and the Serpentine, minus Rattalia, were laughing at their near demise.

"For whatever it is worth, it was an honor to fight beside you all," Zane told his friends.

"Me too," Cole agreed.

"Yeah, ditto," Jay said before a rope fell over them, surprising them all, "Wait, what?"

"The magic rope," Kai said with hallucination.

"Quick, everyone, climb over," Jay shouted as they quickly jumped on the rope.

Pythor was shocked to see the rope while Rattalia sighed in relief, knowing the ninjas were safe, but then they all saw something big land, and it looked like a large, red samurai mech with boosters on its back, golden claws on its arms, and shoulder cannons.

The Serpentine backed up when they saw this before it shot a net from its claws at the two Constrictai. The Serpentine scattered as the two Constrictais bored into the ground. They all ran for their lives, leaving just Pythor and Rattalia there with the mechanical monster.

"Oh, dear," Pythor said as he backed up a little.

"That'ssss a new guy," Rattalia said nervously and impressed at the same time as she backed away as well.

The chest of the mech then lowered to reveal a masked man with a helmet on his face, robotic eyes, and red armor.

"Pythor, target confirmed," The samurai said in a robotic tone, "Time to bag and tag."

As Pythor turned to leave, the samurai aimed and fired a dart at Pythor's rear end, which caused him to yelp in pain as Rattalia's eyes widened at the sound of her uncle's voice.

"Did you jussst ssscream like a little girl?" Rattalia asked in a weirded-out tone.

"No...Maybe," Pythor said embarrassingly. "Let'ssss jusssst get out of here."

Pythor then slithered away and Rattalia was debating on whether she should leave with her uncle or not, but then she started slithering away and followed him, when they were gone, the ninjas got back on land as the samurai jumped down from his mech.

"Who are you?" Cole asked the samurai as they approached him.

"How about the coolest thing I've ever seen!" Jay shouted in excitement.

"Santa?" Kai asked with wonder as Zane approached the samurai.

"Thank you, mysterious warrior, I owe you my life for saving...UGH!" Zane coughed when the samurai sprayed him with some sort of gas before he fell asleep.

"Hey, that wasn't nice," Jay said before he and the others got sprayed and fell asleep too.

The mech then pulled the samurai in by a grapple before it took off into the sky, as all four ninjas lay on the ground asleep, a light shined down on them as the Destiny's Bounty came overhead.

That night, as the Bounty flew through the night sky, the ninjas recounted the experience they had in the Toxic Bogs over dinner with Wu, Nya, Lloyd, and Melissa.

"So, then, just as we were about to bite it, this huge mechanical robot..." Jay tried to explain.

"Samurai, it was a samurai, Jay," Zane corrected.

"A sama-what?" Lloyd asked in confusion.

"Samurai, highest level warrior class," Wu explained. "They would protect nobility and serve with honor on the battlefield."

"Not only that but samurais are known to be sworn rivals of ninjas," Melissa pointed out.

"Wait, how do you know that?" Jay asked.

"I like to read a lot of books," Melissa answered with a shrug. "I'm a bookworm, don't judge me."

"He was a hundred feet high with weapons coming out every part of him," Kai said as he was still under the effects of the venom. "Look at Sensei's beard," he whispered to Cole as he saw Wu's beard moving. "It's moving like snakes," he uttered while Cole sighed in exasperation and Nya shook her head.

"How are we supposed to get rid of this Venomari spit without the anti-venom?" Nya asked while looking at her brother. "It's starting to get annoying," she said with a look.

Kai then put some food on his face as his sister shook his head while the others looked at him strangely.

"Anyway, uhh, Melissa, you're a Serpentine expert," Lloyd said while looking at his best friend. "Do you know anything about the Venomari's venom?"

"Well, unlike the Hypnobrai and Fangpyer, the Venomari's venom effect is only temporary," Melissa informed. "So, it's only a matter of time before the venom wears off," she added as she saw Kai about to dump some tea on his face before Nya stopped him.

"Hopefully, it'll wear off soon 'cause this is so weird," Nya said with a weirded-out look.

"OK, let's not let this mysterious samurai cloud what's really important," Cole reminded before looking at Wu. "All the Serpentine are out, and if Pythor can unite them, legend states some Great Devourer is gonna consume the land and..."

"Wait, did you say Great Devourer?" Melissa asked with a worried look.

"You've heard of it?" Cole asked.

"Oh, I've heard of it all right," Melissa confirmed with a fearful look. "The Great Devourer is like a Godly figure to the Serpentine, and was used as a weapon in the Serpentine war before it got sealed away, and legend states that the more it eats, the bigger it gets, and every time it gets bigger, it gets hungrier and hungrier till it will consume all of Ninjago and the world."

"That doesn't sound good," Jay said nervously.

"Yeah, and that's a can of worms I don't wanna see open," Cole commented.

"Oh, man, Melissa, it's all our fault," Lloyd spoke up, "If we hadn't found the Hypnobrai tomb in the first place, none of this would've happened," he said while looking down in guilt.

"We're so sorry, guys, we didn't mean for this to happen," Melissa apologized with a guilty tone.

"We cannot change the past, but we can affect the future," Wu said to them. "At least, we have the Sacred Flute in our possession so..." he was cut off when Jay laughed nervously.

"Yeah, ahem, about that..." Jay said fiddling his cup.

"Well, just before the samurai showed up, umm..." Zane rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Pythor, sort of... Stole it," he revealed.

"The last Sacred Flute, gone?" Wu asked in shock before he sighed. "You four are Ninjago's last hope," he said right before the alarm went off.

"Cold vision must've caught something," Nya said when the alarm sounded. "Looks like the Serpentine are near."

"Oh-no! Ninjago City?" Cole asked before they all headed to the bridge where the computer showed them where multiple Serpentine gathered.

"How many are there?" Jay asked as they looked at the computer.

"Looks like all of them," Kai pointed.

"Pythor must be trying to unite them," Zane theorized.

"Go, we mustn't let the five tribes unite," Wu told the ninjas before they went to put on their suits.

"NINJA-GO!" All five shouted as they did Spinjitzu in the locker room.

"Ah! I must get this taken care of," Zane told himself referring to his pink suit.

Kai, however, was getting dizzy from the spinning before his Spinjitzu vanished and he fell to the floor.

"Don't worry, it'll wear off soon," Jay told Kai with a wink, "But for now, you're coming with me." He helped Kai up as he shook his head and opened his eyes which were now back to normal, "Huh? That was quicker than I thought. Still, I think it's best if you rode with me."

Kai was soon put in his suit and they went to the top deck where Jay jumped off with him on his back screaming, as Cole and Zane jumped afterward. Jay then took out his nunchucks and summoned his jet to fly down faster to the city below them.

"Ahh! I love the smell of land hurtling towards you in the middle of the night," Cole told Zane who nodded.

They soon took out their weapons and summoned their vehicles as well. Kai, Jay, Zane, and Cole dove down the side of a building before Zane and Jay's vehicles landed in an alley. They all gasped when they got a good look at the city.

"Ninjago City, amazing!" Kai said with amazement. "I've always heard stories about this place."

"Biggest city in all of Ninjago," Jay said in awe. "I've always wanted to come here."

"I always dreamed of one day being on a billboard here," Cole told them.

"You too?" Jay asked.

"Yeah, I did too," Kai said.

"Uh, but, may I remind you, where are the snakes?" Zane spoke up, "We should be standing in the middle of a massive Serpentine gathering."

"Well, if I were a snake, where would I go with a bunch of others?" Kai wondered before they all looked down the streets to see a manhole cover that led into the sewer.

"Ugh! I hate snakes," Cole complained before they went down the hole.

Underground in an abandoned subway tunnel, every Serpentine tribe gathered, looking at each other skeptically. Behind the subway cars, Pythor and the other Serpentine generals were discussing affairs.

"You'll have to ussse more than wordssss to bring the Ssssserpentine together," Skales told Pythor.

"All I have to do issss show them the way," Pythor said.

"Umm, Uncle, they are ready for you," Rattalia nervously told him.

"Ah, show time," Pythor smirked as he climbed on top of the car where all the Serpentine could see him, "Friends, enemies, and enemies who'll pretend to be friends." They all laughed at that joke just as the ninjas arrived at the top of a railing, "I welcome you."

"That's a lot of snakes," Cole commented in a whisper.

"What do we do?" Jay asked.

"I have an idea," Kai said with a smirk. "follow my lead." He told them before they went into the shadows.

"And, what is it with the Constrictai and their vice-like grip? Let it go already," Pythor joked as they all laughed.

"It'ssss funny because it's sssso true," a Fangpyer told a Hypnobrai.

"Heh, but in all seriousnessss, the reason why I called thissss gathering isss because the good people of Ninjago imprisoned ussss in those insidiousssss tombssss, and I want to return the favor," Pythor told them and they all cheered.

As they all cheered, a rope was lowered over the Hypnobrai and Kai came down the rope right above them.

"That sounds like a great plan, but you know those frost-brained Hypnobrai will screw it up," Kai shouted for them to hear.

"Who sssssaid that?" One Hypnobrai demanded as the other Hypnobrai got riled up from the insult.

"Those vampire wannabes' buck teeth can bite my rear end," Jay said behind the Fangpyers.

"I bet those swamp dwellers are drinking their own venom," Cole said near the Venomari.

"All that digging must've given those small fries dirt for brains," Zane said above the Constrictai.

Every Serpentine argued amongst each other as they blamed anyone not from their tribe for those insults. Pythor looked down at the chaos in confusion.

"What's going on? Why am I losing them?" Pythor asked Skales and Rattalia as they shrugged. Skales then looked to the side and saw Cole running across the railings.

"Ninja! Don't worry, I'll take care of it," Skales told Pythor before he left.

Cole looked down at the work he and the others had done before he was pulled underground as Kai stood behind a wall something pulled him underground too.

Zane and Jay saw this from the entrance of the tunnel, and then they saw something moving underground towards them. They backed up a bit before making a run for it, but then three Constrictai popped out of the ground and surrounded Jay before they grabbed him, Zane turned around and saw Jay got captured.

"RUN!" Jay shouted at Zane.

When Zane was about to help Jay, more Constrictai popped out of the ground and chased him down the tunnel. Zane kept running until he reached a subway stop. He saw that the gates were locked before he saw a poster and quickly stood in front of it.

The Constrictai made it to the stop as Zane closed his eyes in hopes that they didn't see him. The Constrictai looked around before they went back.

Zane opened his eyes and saw that they left before he looked at the pink poster and sighed in relief.

Meanwhile, the four tribes continued to argue amongst themselves as they thought the others insulted them.

"Did you take care of them?" Pythor asked Skales when he came back.

"All but one," Skales answered as he pointed to a closet with the ninjas tied up, "The pink one wasssn't anywhere"

"I thought there wasssss a white one," Rattalia said in confusion.

"Then, sssearch every nook and cranny," Pythor told them. "If he'ssss a ninja, you'll never find him in plain ssssight."

"Look, a pink ninja!" A Constrictai called out and pointed up and they all saw Zane swinging on a rope.

"Go, pink ninja, go!" The other ninjas shouted.

Zane then swung the rope around and knocked Pythor and Skales off the subway car as Rattalia jumped out of the way to avoid getting hit. Zane then quickly went to his friends and used his shurikens to free them.

"Unh! Come on, let's get out of here," Zane said before they swung over the Serpentine on the ropes, and then they jumped off and ran down a tunnel with the Serpentine chasing them. "Now, let us blow this popsicle stand. NINJA-GO!" Zane shouted as he did Spinjitzu.

"Popsicle stand, ha, ha, I like it," Jay said.

Zane then stopped, took out his shurikens, and used their power to freeze the tunnel. He then threw them before he ran and summoned his bike. Kai, Jay, and Cole got on the back of Zane's bike and he revved up his engine before taking off with the Serpentine behind them.

They managed to get away a lot faster on the bike. As they traveled down the tunnel, Jay managed to slip off Zane's bike but held on to the end. He held on tight as they continued down the tunnel.

Meanwhile, the Serpentine were still after them, but they began slipping on the ice. Pythor and Rattalia were right behind them before the former lost his balance, slipped on the ice, and fell on the floor. They turned towards the tunnel as the ninjas were out of sight, and a Venomari shook his fist in frustration.

"Well, that could've gone better," Selma commented as she and Skales came over, "We sssshould've anticipated the ninja'sssss interference."

"You got that right," Skales nodded in agreement.

"You'll have to do better than that to unite the tribessss, Uncle," Rattalia told her uncle as she helped him up, but Pythor glared at her and pulled his arm away from her.

"GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!" Pythor roared in anger as Rattalia flinched and ducked in fear.

Skales and Selma were shocked by that, and they both shared a concerned glance, questioning Pythor's sanity with how he treated his niece.

The ninjas returned to the Bounty where they all continued to eat their dinner together.

"You know, whether it was in a lesson book or not, we used the destructive power of rumors to our advantage," Cole said.

"And now, the Serpentine are further away than ever from getting their act together," Kai added.

"You know, I don't think we would've gotten out of there if it hadn't been for Zane," Jay noted.

"Don't thank me, thank Lloyd and Melissa," Zane said. "If it hadn't been for their, 'laundry skills', we all would've been found." They all laughed at his joke just as Lloyd and Melissa walked into the room.

"Well, it took me and Lloyd twenty loads, but your suits are no longer pink, Zane," Melissa told him as she held up his now normal, white gis.

"And, to show that I'm sorry for messing with your soup, Cole, I got you a can of nuts," Lloyd said as he pulled out a can and offered it to him.

"Heh, heh, heh, heh, yeah, don't think I don't know where this is going, ya little runt," Cole chuckled as he walked up to Lloyd. "When I open this, a bunch of snakes are gonna pop out, right? Yeah, no, thank you."

Cole then walked over to the fridge and opened it, only for a bunch of rubber snakes to fall out which spooked him as he yelled and fell to the floor.

"Gotcha!" Lloyd laughed as the shocked Cole sat in a pile of snakes, and everyone in the room laughed at how Lloyd outsmarted Cole who then laughed as well.

To be continued...
