Gandalf glared fiercely at the adversaries he'd found himself face-to-face with.

They looked like a right troublesome pair. It was clear they were here to cause terrible chaos. Perhaps they had been sent by Sauron. The mighty wizard couldn't say for sure - but if there was one thing he was certain, he couldn't let them go by.

It was his duty to prevent them some taking a step further.

Standing his ground, Gandalf raised his staff, slamming the bottom of it into the ground as he roared at the top of his lungs those immortal words of his.

"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

The two arrivals stared at the mighty wizard in bewilderment. He had made it perfectly clear to them he wasn't going to let them pass. They could only gape at Gandalf in all his powerful nature before letting out what they had to say to him.

"Gandalf, what are you doing?! You have to let us pass so we can take the Ring to be destroyed!"

"Oh…" Gandalf said meekly, realising his mistake as well as he exactly who he was standing in the way of. "My apologies, Frodo Baggins!"

Frodo rolled his eyes disbelievingly.

"May we pass, sir?" Sam asked. "Mr Frodo has his destiny to fulfil."

"Certainly. On your way, Master Hobbits."

With that, Gandalf stepped aside to stand off the path. The two hobbits of the Shire walked past him to continue their treacherous journey to Mordor to destroy the One Ring.

"That Gandalf is a strange one," Sam remarked. "Isn't he, Mr Frodo?"

"Well, he is about as ancient as Bilbo," Frodo muttered, thinking of his uncle who was friends with the sorcerer. "I think Gandalf's going just as eccentric in his old age."

Gandalf's bearded face scrunched into a frown. He didn't appreciate the comments being made about him by the two young hobbits. He took a step after them, about to call them out over how they had referred to him - when he felt a pounding pain sweep in his forehead. He pressed a hand to it, groaning from the real cause of why he'd been aggressive opposing his friends a moment ago.

"I gotta stop drinking…" Gandalf murmured - before taking another swig from the pint in his hand.
