They had been flying for fifteen minutes when they first saw the lights of the camp. He turned to the otters, "We need to land near the camp," he said to the cat nestled in his little sling.
The small larva let out a meow and Domino started to descend, the cat spotted a clearing just near the camp, Max hoped that no guard had spotted them.
Jumping off Domino, he watched as the other landed on their kill-a-moths (or in Yunan case, sparrow.)
"Okay," whispered Max, "Follow me."
As Max crept towards the camp he started to feel more anxious, he tried to control his breathing, he remembered how he had left this place before now he was returning with a small army, he was terrified what would happen if they were caught.
Max felt a reassuring arm fall on his shoulder, he turned to see Anne's mother looking at him, "Are you okay?"
He nodded, "Yeah, it's just some bad memories."
"You don't need to come with us," said Mr Boonchuy, "you could just wait with the Kill-A-Moths.
Max shook his head, "No, I'll be fine."
A few seconds later they arrived at the makeshift fence, from behind the walls there was the noise of hundreds of Amphibians taking down the camp, now that they had their prey they had no more reasons to stay.
"So here's the plan," said Grime, "Me, Yunan and Polly will rush into there and kill the guards, you guys stay here and watch."
"That's…not a good idea," said Hop-Pop, "They might hurt Anne and the others."
"Yeah, and why was I last in the order? I'm more bloodthirsty than either of you"
"Well, do you have a better idea?" said Yunan looking at the Polliwog.
Sprig jumped towards the fence, he landed at the top of it and peered into the camp, letting go of the fence he turned to the group.
"It's clear for the moment. Me, Polly, could jump over that wall and look around."
"And I can still beat them up?" asked Polly inquisitively.
"Yes," said Sprig, rolling his eyes.
"Yes, you two could sneak around pretty good, but finding the others will be difficult," said Yunan with her hand beneath her chin.
"I'll go with them."
The small group turned to Max, Hop-Pop and the Boonchuys looked worried, Polly, Yunnan and Grime respectfully towards him.
"Max, you really don't have to-" Hop-Pop started to say.
"But I do, my friends are in there, if they hadn't been trying to help me none of this would have happened.
Max expected the old frog to tell him no, that it was too dangerous.
Hop-Pop however knew that his grand children could handle themselves.
The frog nodded, "All three of you look after each other, Ya hear?"
Max nodded, he turned to Polly and Sprig, "So can you just jump with me holding on?"
"One way to find out," said Polly, grabbing hold of Max's arm, Sprig followed suit, the next thing Max knew he was in the air, he briefly saw the tent Time had stuffed him.
They landed, Max on his knees, Polly and Sprig standing
The two frogs let go of his arm and looked at him, "Okay, so where do we go?" asked Sprig.
"I saw the tent from up there," said Max pointing, "we can get there by going west and-Where's Polly?"
Sprig looked around casually, not really surprised his sister had vanished, "Oh, I guess she couldn't wait to start some chaos."
"Should we go looking for her?"
Sprig shook his head, "Nah, we'd only be interrupting her, come on, let's get a move on before someone spots us."
The started to walk, hiding between the backs of tents and in the shadows, hoping they could rescue their friends.
…
"But why can't we come?" whined Lucian.
"Because it's dangerous, just stay in the tent and things will be fine," said Sasha, crossing her arms.
Anne watched the toad boy as he started frowning and crossing his arms, he tried to look tough, but he was going against Sasha, someone who was born tough.
"You can stay here and look after Marcy?" said Marcy Wu.
Lucian scoffed, "She can look after herself."
"Thanks, Lucian," said Frog Marcy bitterly.
"No, I mean it, you're pretty though." said Lucian, "That wasn't me being mean."
"Oh," said Frog Marcy, surprised at what was a genuine compliment, "Thank you."
Sasha sighed, "Listen, I need you to stay safe, imagine how your parents would react if you were hurt."
The toad boy's expression softened a little, "Okay, just save Nicole please?" the boy grudgingly said.
Sasha nodded, "Top of my list of things to do."
The psychiatrist turned to her two human friends, "Let's go."
Sasha peered out the tent to see one guard standing there, a toad wearing a horned helmet, with a Heron tattoo, reaching out she grabbed him and pulled him into the tent.
"Seriously, why does this keep happening to me," said the toad before Sasha knocked him out with a well-placed punch.
The unconscious toad was dragged into the tent and three humans stepped out,
"Okay So here's the plan, Anne, you find the exit and come back for the kids, take them and wait there for five minutes. If we're not there or don't arrive at that time, just run. Marcy, try and find a Spider or a snail or anything we can use to escape."
"What will you do?" said Anne.
"I'm going to find Nicole, I promised Lucian I would."
The two others nodded.
"Marcy, stick with me," said Anne, "It'll probably be quicker if we do our tasks together.
"Good idea," nodded the Webcomic artist.
Sasha headed towards the east, and Marcy and Sasha went north.
…
Sasha had seen a lot of the dangerous wildlife in Amphibia first hand, she had fought just as much of it.
Seeing many of them locked in cages however she felt bad for them.
From Hybeenas to Murder Crows, From Tomato plants to Hedgehogs.
As she passed each cage she could hear the various noises of captured animals wanting freedom, the smell of rotting meat and more told Sasha that these animals were being treated badly.
She had been looking for any signs of Nicole and so far nothing.
That's when she spotted the bag that Nicole had been placed in lying on the ground, in front of a cage.
Sasha closed her eyes and sighed, she had expected this, but it still hurt.
She was about to go back to the tent and inform the two children what had happened to their friend when she heard a chirp.
Hiding behind a box she looked for where it was coming from, eventually she narrowed it down to a tent on the right
From the tent emerged a newt and a toad, both looking tired.
"No, you can't ride it." said the newt annoyed.
"But why?"
"Because if someone see that thing they might recognize it and come back for us, Keep hold of that key and don't bother it again."
"Ugh." said the toad
As the two Amphibians walked away, Sasha snuck up to the tent and entered.
In the middle of the tent was the sparrow/snail hybrid from earlier clapped in chains, it struggled to get free.
Sasha walked up to the bird and stroked it. Somehow it felt calmer with her around, Sasha was a little ambivalent to the creature but looking at it now only made her want to punch something.
"Okay," birdy…snailey," said a voice from behind Sasha, "We're just going for a- Hey who are you?"
Sasha turned to see the toad that had walked out a minute ago standing there,
Smiling, Sasha nodded to him, "Hey."
The toad nodded back, "Hey?" he said, confused.
"So I'm guessing you want to ride this poor thing, right?"
"Umm yes?"
"Well I have good news for you, One of the people your boss kidnapped owns this bird so if you let it go I might be able to convince her to let you ride her, so if you let us go..."
The toad stood there briefly considering his options, "Welllll-"
"I mean she's a nice bird and when else are you going to get the chance to fly again?"
"You're not wrong," said the toad, nodding.
"Well, hand over the key, then," Sasha held her hand out for the keys.
The toad stood there for a few seconds. He reached into his pocket only to stop for a few seconds and look at Sasha, "Will I get in trouble for this?"
"No, I have a foolproof plan to stop you from getting into any trouble."
The toad stared at her for a few seconds, then shrugged, "Okay."
He handed Sasha the key.
"So what's the plan to-" The toad was unable to finish his sentence due to Sasha fist flying into his face, the toad fell unconscious.
Freeing the snird Sasha looked at her, "Okay listen you need to-"
Before she could finish the bird burst out the tent, Sasha ran to the entrance and stuck her head out, she saw the bird take off into the sky, swooping around a lot.
"Huh, I should have seen that coming."
"Hey," you're one of the humans," said a voice next to her, she turned to see the newt from earlier standing there looking confused.
Sasha sighed, grabbed the newt and dragged him into the tent.
…
Hiding behind the tents Anne and Marcy, could see that many Amphibians were in a mixture of celebrating the humans capture and packing the camp away, it was probably why there was only one guard positioned in front of their tent, they could see inside the shadows inside the tents.
They kept sneaking for five minutes when a familiar voice stopped them.
"He's gone crazy," said an irate shadow of Tim Treller from inside the tent.
"Oh, I wouldn't say he's gone crazy, just having a brief manic episode," said the curator.
"Nope, he's just plain crazy," said large shadow of Mama Hassleback casually.
"He pulled a knife out on that toad with bushy hair," said Jethrow, "He makes us look sane."
"Exactly, Ever since he talked to that human he's been acting more and more paranoid."
"Where is he now?" said Mama
"In the canteen, ranting about how disgusting and pathetic humans are," said Tim annoyed, "I have an army of bigoted and vengeful Amphibians, and even they think he's out of control, I should have never done business with someone like him."
The curator sighed, "Okay fine he's crazy, but soon everything will be over, and we can just go, the humans will be dead, and we just go move on."
Tim sighed, "Yeah, though knowing him, he'll start seeing their ghosts everywhere."
"And we won't have to deal with it anymore," said The curator. "We can all just disappear, the only time you'll hear about us is when you get your share of the money."
The tent was silent for a few seconds, "Fine, I'm going to check on the prisoners."
"Great, that'll-""
From outside the tent, there was a loud, terrifying roar.
There was the noise of the tent's entrance opening and feet rushing inside, Marcy could see the shadow of a newt.
"Sir," said a low-pitched voice, "The Scropileo has broken free, That Snird we captured has escaped and a large quantity of Boom shrooms from the armory has gone missing."
"Great," said Tim, "Great, Tell the men to abandon camp, and find those Boomshrooms, I'm going to check on the prisoner."
With that, Tim left.
"I'm going back to the tent," said Anne, "I've got to warn the others."
"Don't worry, go," said Marcy.
She turned away from her friend and kept moving, after a few more minutes the camp was full of the noises of people screaming orders and sounds of Amphibians trying to get the beast back under control.
As she kept walking she spotted something hiding between some barrels, thinking it was Sasha, she must have snuck over there, it was something small, maybe her friend was crouching.
"Sasha, is that you?"
A face turned to Marcy, it was pink with a yellow bow in top, "Marcy?"
"Polly!" whispered Marcy, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I came with Max-"
"He's still here?"
"Yeah, the town's coming to rescue you guys, We've got a bunch of Kill-A-Moths that'll attack the camp soon."
"Oh, so you freed the Scorpileo?"
Polly looked at her confused, "What, No, I set up the boom shrooms in the canteen."
"Boom Shr-"
KABOOOMMMM
The sky behind Marcy turned a fiery red, terrified screams of Amphibians filled the camp, Polly however just kept smiling, it was one Marcy had seen in her nightmares.
"Okay," said Marcy trying to keep calm upon seeing Polly's smile, "Let's just go and find the exit.
…
General Yunan was known for many things, Scourge of the Sand Wars, Defeater of Ragnar the Wretched, and the youngest newt to ever achieve the rank of general in the great Newtopian Army.
She was proud of each of them, Heck, she boasted them constantly.
However, there were two which might have topped them all.
Wife of Lady Olivia and mother of Marcy.
Yunan had been terrified when she first became a mother, it was quite frankly terrifying, she had to look after a small girl (One who wasn't even the same species as her) at first she thought it would be fun, like looking after Polly, but as it turns out it was harder.
Marcy took more after Olivia than her, Sure she had taught the young frog to look after herself, but other than that nothing.
The kid never wanted to hear her war stories, or wanted to learn the way of the blade.
Heck, that time a few years ago when she lost her arm after a small accident, Marcy didn't laugh at any of her jokes, she was just scared for her, she seemed worried, Yunan was just annoyed, it wouldn't be the first time she lost a limb, and it wouldn't be the last.
Her daughter however just worried.
It was time like those, she felt she was failing as a mother.
But then came the time when her daughter needed her.
Like after a bad dream she needed someone to scare the monsters off, When she needed someone to confess a secret her other mother wouldn't like, she was even proud of her friendship with the former king.
Just yesterday Montgomery's parents had visited to demand that the frog girl apologize to their brat of a son, Yunan now knowing what a repulsive little brat he was and cracked her knuckles at the pair.
The two ran off, terrified.
She might never be the parents Marcy needed, but she would protect her no matter what.
So the fact that she was sitting on the sideline waiting for a human and two frogs to find her daughter, being made to wait, annoyed her to no end.
She looked at her wrists, beneath the shirt were two new gauntlets, she didn't wear her armor as much nowadays, but the gauntlets still had her blades.
Despite this though, she was powerless, she needed to do something anything to save her daughter.
Looking at Grime, he looked just as annoyed, he nodded towards her in respect, Yunan nodded back.
The other three inhabitants of the clearing were just standing there looking worried.
"What are we waiting for?" asked Grime.
"The kids or some sort of sign they need us," said Yunan.
"What would that sign be?" asked the toad.
Sudden there was an explosion.
The Kill-A-Moths started to moving, Joe Sparrow let out a chirp, Yunan smiled, That would do, she jumped on one of the cats and pointed in the direction of the camp.
"CHARGE!" she shouted.
Grime started to laugh and ran towards the camp, The Boonchuys and the Old Plantars watched in shock.
The next thing she knew General Yunan was hovering above the camp, the small dots that were either toads or newts had stopped moving looking up at the sky, each had a look of confused terror on their faces.
That's when the Massacre descended.
Yunan watched as Toads were carried away, sprayed with web, it was an oddly beautiful sight.
That's when Yunan noticed the newt carrying a harpoon, they aimed towards the black and while Kill-A-Moth Anne liked.
"Not today," She said under her breath and jumped from the moth.
She landed in front of the newt and punched him out.
A small crowd of newts stopped in front of her, and looked in terror.
"Who are you?" said a newt.
Yunan smiled, time to introduce herself, beat these toads and save her daughter.
She pressed a button on each of her gauntlets, two blade sprung out.
…
Max burst through the entrance to Tim's tent.
Nothing, they weren't in here.
"Where are they?" he said, terrified.
Spring entered the tent and looked around, "Are you sure this is where they are?"
"It's where they brought me," said Max worried, "They could be anywhere in this camp and-"
There was an explosion somewhere in the distance, Max turned in that direction worried, Sprig smiled, "Oh explosives this time." he said with a smile on his face.
Max started to run to the exit, "We have to find them and-"
"No, you stay here, things are about to get wild you need to stay safe," said Sprig
"But-"
Before Max could finish, the frog had rushed out of the tent.
Max just stood there for a second and then ran to the entrance, he stuck his head out.
Everywhere Amphibians were running around in terror, he spotted a toad carrying a bucket of water running in the direction of an orange glow in the sky.
Maybe they wouldn't notice him, if he tried to search for his friends in the chaos.
Without any other thought, Max dashed out of the tent, luckily he was right about his plan, no toad or newt tried to stop him, As he kept running that's when he heard the noise of a roar from above.
Looking upwards, he saw a Kill-A-Moth descending towards the ground; it picked up a toad and flew into the sky.
In the second the sky was full of the flying felines, Max decided to duck into the next tent to avoid being grabbed himself.
He entered a large white tent.
Instantly he saw a chair flying towards him, he ducked just avoiding it, he looked up to see Lucian and Nicole standing there, Lucian hand his arms in the air.
"NICOLE, LUCIAN!" shouted Max shocked.
"MAX!" shouted the two young Amphibians.
"Meow," muttered the small kitten still attached to Max's chest.
"You guys are free?"
"Yeah, "said Lucian, "Sasha and the others expected a while ago and-"
"Wait, Where's Nicole?" asked Max.
The look on their faces instantly scared Max
"They took her, Sasha said she was going to rescue her but-" Marcy stopped talking, like saying anything else would be admitting a terrible truth.
"She'll be fine, Sasha's looking for her and besides its Nicole, She's tougher than she looks," said Lucian reassuringly.
"So what do we do now?" said Marcy.
"We get out of here," said Max, "It's dangerous, there are criminal Amphibians, the Kill-A-Moths, the fire-".
There was suddenly a roar from outside the tent.
"And apparently some sort of monster running around camp."
The tent was quiet for a few seconds.
"Is it strange that this isn't even like the weirdest thing that's happened to us this week?" said Marcy flatly.
Max smiled, they seemed to be taking this disaster well.
"Well, looks like my hostages are trying to run," said a voice from behind Max.
Max turned to see Tim standing there with a sword in his hands, a twisted smile on his face, "So, an escape plan," said the adult frog.
"Well, it's not much of a plan but-"
"Whatever it is, you're staying here, at least two of them are valuable, I can still kill one of you."
"Hey, don't insult Marcy like that" said Lucian, the frog girl glared at him.
Tim started to walk towards the three, Max stood in front of them, trying to protect them.
"Looks like the human has found some courage after all, but it's not going to save them."
Max stood there, he wouldn't let Tim get to either of them.
Tim raised his sword, about to strike.
Suddenly, a blade pierced through the fabric of the tent. It then lowered itself to the floor, the blade vanished only to appear at the top of the slice it ripped at move of the tent creating a vertical line at the top, the fabric parted and in stepped a dashing newt.
"Ah, Tim Treller, my old friend," said Tritonio smoothly.
"You!" snarled Tim, "Why are you here?"
"Well, I'm on the side of the law now, and I decided that it would be nice to take you down."
Tim laughed, "You bring me down? That's as laughable as thinking that you can redeem yourself."
"You're right, I do have a lot of to repent for," said The newt, "But at least I'll never stop trying."
Tim turned to the group, "You think this guy will save you, He's more twisted than me."
"Compared to you, We'll take him," said Max.
The frog lunged towards Tritonio who blocked the blow, for a brief second they stood there, their blades colliding.
"Max, take your friend and your girlfriend to safety, I'll deal with Tim."
Before Max could say anything about how gross that was, (He didn't dislike girls but the idea of dating one, or anyone at this point was not something he wanted) the newt kicked the frog, sending him to the ground, the three children used this as an escape and headed out of the entrance Tritonio made.
However, they didn't get far, Lucian and Marcy stopped and watched the chaos.
"Whoa," said Marcy
"This is not what I expected," said Lucian, generally shocked to see the horror.
Max turned to the two, "Come on, we need to find Nicole now.
That brought his friends out of their worry, they followed Max as he ran towards the animal cages.
…
The time for stealth was over, which was both good and bad for Sasha, the good was that she wanted to punch something after everything that happened to her.
The bad news was that she was still swordless.
However, it didn't seem to matter half the camp was running around scared, the moths in the sky were picking on anyone who tried to flee, Sasha walked slowly trying to avoid being picked up herself.
She looked at the cages and saw that they were now empty, she could see dozens of the creatures running around attacking the toads.
It was chaos, pure and simple.
"YOU," shouted a voice from behind Sasha.
The blonde human turned to see the heavily armored toad that attacked her and Lucian earlier standing there, however instead of a hammer in her hands there was a staff with a blade on top, on the edges of the blade were teeth that Sasha had seen before.
"Oh, it you." said Sasha casually, "New weapon?"
"Yeah and it'll cut you in half," the edges of the blade started to spin, she remembered it now, it belonged to one of Andrias robots, once with chainsaws.
"Okay that's scary, but you still have a dented helmet, I still-"
The toad ripped off her helmet, revealing her face, Long flowing blonde hair, perfect green skin, dazzling eyes, she was beauty on steroids.
"Woah, I'm sorry I don't know how to say this, but you're oddly pretty for a toad."
Margie sighed, "Yeah I know, it's why I wear the mask, people don't take pretty toads seriously, even if they're built like a brick house."
Sasha nodded sympathetically, "Girl, tell me about it, I was a cheerleader and everyone made fun of the fact that I wanted to become a therapist."
"Ugh," said Margie, "screw them, they sound like jerks."
"Yeah, so we're doing this?"
The large toad nodded and charged towards Sasha, her weapon roaring.
Sasha jumped out of the way of the blade, and it slammed into the ground, tearing it up, sending soil flying everywhere.
Before Sasha could try to attack again, Margie had pulled the blade out of the ground and swung it towards her.
Sasha ducked, the blade went over her head, deafening her.
"Crap," said the Therapist.
Margie swung two more times, forcing Sasha closer to a cage, one more retreat and Margie would either be able to lock her up…or worse.
"SASHA!" shouted a voice to her side, She turned to see Grime running towards her, carrying two swords, he threw one of them "CATCH!"
Margie swung her Chainsaw staff towards Sasha, The sword just reached her hand as the blade drew nearer to her head.
Raising the Sword, Sasha caught the Chainsaw in mid-swing.
Sparks flew everywhere, Sasha closed her eyes, trying to protect them from the brightness.
After a few seconds, the sound of the chainsaw died away.
Opening her eyes, Sasha saw Margie looking at her confused, the large toad then pulled up her weapon and saw that every single tooth on her chain saw had been broken.
"Wow, that was…pretty weak?"
"Eh, Andrias robots weren't that tough, a senior citizen could destroy one with a punch," said Sasha before she slammed the handle of her sword into the toad's face, knocking her unconscious.
Grime stopped beside the human, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," said Sasha, "Why are you here?"
"That human boy told us what happened and suggested we bring an army of Kill-A-Moths to help save you. I have no idea why things are so chaotic right now."
Sasha smiled, "So where's the rest of the town?"
…
The Curator was done with this. Sure, he was running with around half of Tim's army, but they didn't care, they were getting the hell out of this camp.
It did mean cutting his losses, but quite frankly he didn't care, he wanted to get away from all of this, find someone simple to rip off and move on.
However, as he and the group of Amphibians exited the camp, they stopped.
Standing in front of them was a small army of Frogs, with the occasional Toad, and Newt, two humans were also standing there.
"Where do you think you're going?" said a small, nicely dressed frog.
"Away from this," said the curator.
"Can't let you do that," said the frog in a friendly voice, "Get them."
The curator wanted to laugh, they could handle this, they could defeat them, there were only fifty of them, his group was numbered at least one hundred.
Whatever faith the con-frog had died instantly when the mob attacked.
He saw a blue axolotl attack a toad with a sander and a gouge, he saw an impossibly old frog throw a toad three times her size, A toad was boxing several newts, showing no signs of slowing down.
He saw four blue frogs, throwing potions at guards turning them into statues, he saw three female frogs, one elderly, one middle age and finally a young woman using various moves to destroy anyone who came near them, he saw a one eyed strangely dressed newt smack the largest newt with his accordion. There was a prissy-dressed newt giving one of the toads a noogie.
The small fancy dressed toad had transformed into a violent, yet still adorable monster, and that was ignoring the actual monster.
Two large newts were throwing his men around.
The two humans seemed particularly vicious as they threw members of the secret circus around.
The Curator watched this in shock, Who were these frogs?
"Scuse me," said a voice next to the curator.
The con-frog turned and looked down at where the voice came from.
Standing there was an old orange frog, he was using a cane to stand, he had a dignified look to him.
"Remember me?"
"Yeah, you were one of the frogs who brought down my Curiosity hut," he said angrily.
"You messed with my granddaughter, and now you've got her friends and family after you."
"Well," said the Curator trying to sound brave, raising his fist, "At least I can take you out."
The older frog laughed confidently, "Yeah bout that."
Lightning fast the old frog lowered his cane and tripped Pond up causing him to hit the ground, before he could stand again the older frog coughed.
"Frobo would you?"
The curator found himself being held in the air, turning his head he saw that he was being held by a blue robot, who narrowed looked at the curator, his eyes glaring at him.
"I believe you haven't met my fourth grandchild, Frobo, Frobo this is the curator."
"Nice to meet you,
Hop-Pop laughed, "Hey Frobo you mind keeping an eye on this guy, I've got to go find the others.
The curator tried to hopelessly grab Hop-Pop, but the old frog was too far away.
Even worse, his wax gun fell from his jacket.
"What's that?" asked the robot.
"Um…nothing."
Frobo picked up the gun and looked at it, "It looks like a wax gun," the robot took aim at a fleeing thug Toad and fired at his feet, the toad fell on the ground face first.
"I am going to keep this," hissed Frobo happily.
The Curator groaned, this was not a good day.
…
Max kept running, he was trying to find where Nicole could be, The problem was that all the cages were empty now, Nicole could be in one of them.
Or in the belly of some giant monster.
As he reached the first one, he heard Marcy scream.
Max stopped running and looked behind her, she was pointing to an empty cloth bag, she looked devastated.
"What?" he asked.
"Nicole… they put her in that."
Max stopped, it was too late, she was gone.
He had only known her for a week, and now she was dead.
All the things that they had done, fighting robots, working together at the restaurant, and now-
From behind him came a familiar thud, Max sighed, "Getting tired of this."
Max turned to see the Scropileo sitting there looking at him, however something was different now. That fiery look of resentment had vanished, replaced with something else, respect.
That's when something stuck Max, the fact that he was still alive, the creature had not attacked him yet.
Suddenly, a blue ball jumped on the giant monster's head, and on her face was a smile.
"Hey guys," said Nicole cheerfully.
"NICOLE!" shouted her friends in joyful shock.
"Yeah, Meet my new friend Simba," said the Eft happily, "I tamed him."
"How?" said Marcy, tears of joy coming from her eyes.
"I punched him in the face."
"He's like one hundred times your size," said Lucian, perplexed.
"I punched him a lot."
Max couldn't help but laugh, "So did you let the rest of the animals out?"
"Yeah, Hold up a second," Nicole jumped off the monster, "Go back to the animal reserve, I'll introduce you to Joe later.
The beast nodded and then ran off.
Nicole turned to her friends, "Let's get out of here."
Max nodded, his friends were safe, it was all over.
A muffed scream shot out from behind Max, he turned to see Scumdrop With Marcy in his grasp, he was smiling viciously.
"Well, look at this," said Scrumdrop, a manic look on his face, "I see the monster and her friends are still about."
"Let her go," growled Lucian.
"Later, You stupid brat." snarled Scumdrop, "I'm taking him, he is your friend right, Anne."
Max stood there confused, "I'm not Anne"
"Ha," laughed Scumdrop, "I know you were a stupid monster, but not knowing your own name, I guess your intelligence isn't as high as you think."
' He's mad ," thought Max.
"Don't worry though, I'll let her go when her parents have paid for her," until then, "MAMA, deal with them."
Shadows fell over the three children, behind them stood Mama Hassleback and her family.
"Should we be really listening to him, ma? He's completely mad."
"He's got an expensive hostage, We'll take her away from him later."
Before he could say another word, Scumdrop ran, leaving Max, Lucian and Nicole alone
Standing there in front of the vicious thugs he swallowed, he'd never be able to fight them off, he watched as the thugs grew closer.
That's when the little Kitten stuck her head out of Max's sling.
'Meow'
The thugs stopped moving, horror appeared in their eyes.
"Mama?" said the ugly looking Frog, "What's that?"
"It's nothin, just ignore it," said Mama terrified.
"It's just a Kill-A-Piller," said Lucian, "I meant hey grow up to be dangerous but-"
The small creature gave a yawn, in response the gang jumped back slightly.
A smile suddenly appeared on Max's face, he pulled the small creature out of his sling and held it towards them, "Yeah, that's right, I know how to use this thing."
The gang looked worried for a second, they seemed terrified of this small kitten, Max would have agreed with them a few days ago, Now however he loved this kitten.
Mama looked at him with a terrified look, then closed her eyes and counted to five, remembering what that therapist she kidnapped once told her.
"You are a strong independent woman who can deal with small cute things, also, please let me go, I have a family."
Shaking her head and regaining her massive confidence, she looked at Max, "We can take him, there's only one of him."
The family continued to advance on the three.
Max closed his eyes, "Well, at least I got this far," he muttered.
'MERP MERP!"
Max opened his eyes and looked behind the Hasselback Gang,
Speeding towards him was a familiar snail, covered in kittens.
"Micro-Angelo?" he whispered.
The snail slithered along at high speed, then braked in front of the gang, the kittens went flying into the gang.
Mama just stood there looking at her kitten covered body, she wanted to run, she wanted to scream but no, she was covered in them, memories of that town returned, she remembered them crawling all over her body, biting her, clawing her, this was her worst nightmare.
She closed her eyes and fell to the floor, in a fetal position, the kitten just hung onto her purring gently.
The rest of the family followed suit, except for the ugly one that held on to a small purple one with long ears.
"Who's a cute little monster," he said in baby talk.
Max stood there and laughed, he turned to Micro-Angelo, "You came after all I-"
The snail wrapped his eyes stalks around Max, "Merp Merp," it said gently, Max returned the hug.
"HELP!" shouted a voice in the distance.
The three friends turned to see A tarantula speeding away towards the camp entrance, Max recognized Scumdrop's robes, he was talking Marcy away.
Max released Micro-Angelo, "We need to chase them," he said to the snail.
"Merp," said the snail. He grabbed Max by his shirt, lifted him and placed him on his shell.
The human turned to the others, "What are you waiting for, let's go."
Lucian smiled and nodded, he grabbed Nicole and jumped on Micro-Angelo, the two held on to Max.
"MICRO-ANGELO!" shouted Max, confidence in his voice, "LETS GO."
A part of Max knew this was dangerous, knew this might lead to him dying.
But a large part didn't care.
Marcy was in danger, She was worth the risk.
…
Tritonio was holding his own against Tim, the frog might be good, but he was better, They kept fighting, neither wanting to surrender.
Neither had noticed that the tent had been ripped away by a low flying Kill-A-Moth.
One could tell by the way they fought, the combatants were the total opposites of each other.
Tim's style was functional, only attacking when he needed to, defending the rest of the time.
Tritonio however always preferred a level of flair, his moves more wide, more open, he taunted his enemy to attack him, only for the strike to be deflected.
Tim started to lose his patience. He wanted to get out of here, he wanted to run, hide for a month and try finding some sane clients.
He kept fighting, Eventually he noticed that there was a brief moment he could strike, during a weird spinning move, he just had to keep fighting and…
THERE, As the Newtopian orphan twirled again his sword arm unguarded, Tim struck.
There was a scream, a flash of blood hit the ground, Tritonio fell cradling his arm.
"Well met," said the newt.
"Thank you," said Tim sarcastically, "Now prepare to die."
Tritonio sighed, "My only regret is that my life ends at the hands of someone as dull as you."
The former criminal watched as the frog rose his blade.
Tim's euphoria at killing Tritonio was replaced with shock when he felt a firm hand grab on to him.
"No, you don't."
The Hunter frog turned to see one of the humans he had been hunting standing there, she was glaring at him.
It was the eyes, those predatory eyes.
"I don't think so," said Anne
She lifted Tim up and threw him to the side, the frog rolled on the floor, he instantly stood up and turned to them, "Fine I can kill two Stupid-"
Whatever threats Tim wanted to make were stopped when he was grabbed by a Kill-A-Moth and flown up to the sky, He let out a rather girly scream.
Anne and Tritonio stood there watching.
"Well, He's dead," said Tritonio.
"Nah, those Kill-A-Moth are basically oversized cats now they won't hurt him."
"Really, are cats nice to small things?"
Anne just stood there for a second, "Well….No, they're basically sociopaths to anything small."
Tritonio looked at her for a second then shrugged, "Eh, He was a jerk."
"Why are you here?" asked Anne.
"We've come to rescue you, Max told us you were here."
Anne looked at him, her mouth fell open, "You mean he's still here?"
"ANNE!" shouted a voice.
The Herpetologist turned to see a pink frog running towards her, he jumped and hugged her, Anne hugged him back.
"That's it," said Sprig, letting go of her, "I'm never letting you leave the house alone ever again."
Anne laughed, "I think I'm going to try and avoid getting captured by a mad newt.
"ANNE!" cried another voice, Anne turned to see her parents running towards her, they were carrying Hop-Pop she could see everyone else behind them, Marcy, Sasha, The town everyone.
She felt her heart leapt, she couldn't help it, they had come to rescue her.
The crowd surrounded her, she could help but laugh, "Guys I'm fine."
"That's great, where are the kids though?" said Yunan with genuine worry in her eyes.
"Tritonio said they went off in the direction of the exit but-"
Anne was interrupted by the sound of dozens of thudding footsteps, she turned to see A large tarantula charging towards the crowd.
The crowd split apart, the spider rushed through, Anne looked at the creature.
At the front was Professor Scumdrop, in his arms was a frog girl squirming to get free.
Before anyone else could react, a snail drove through the gap left by the crowd in pursuit of the tarantula, riding it was Max, Lucian and Nicole.
In seconds, they were gone.
"HE'S GOT MARCY." shouted Yunan.
"CHASE THEM!" shouted Mayor Toadie.
"Max," whispered Anne, terrified.
The mob chased after the two creatures, hoping they could catch up to Max.
Anne kept running, Why was Max still here?
Max shouldn't be here anymore, he would be back on earth safe from all of this, had he come back to save his friends?
She kept running, hoping to pray to anyone who would listen that he wouldn't do anything rash.
…
Scumdrop help onto the frog girl, refusing to let her go, he had driven past the rest of the Anne's earlier.
A saner Scumrop would have considered that there was something strange about the various Anne's running around.
However now he knew the truth about her.
Anne Boonchuy wasn't just a monster, she was something bigger.
He wanted to think that she was a demon, but no, she was something else.
The old Amphibia had been something amazing, Amphibians knew their place, he had been a respected scholar a newt who people listened to, one who would get what he wanted.
Then she appeared and changed everything, she defeated the king, destroyed the moon, changed the order of this world.
When she had lied to him in the tent pretending she was normal, it had made him see the truth, what she really was.
The destroyer of worlds.
Well, that fine, next time she'd just kill her.
It wouldn't be hard, she was basically everywhere, he could see her in the shadow, in the sky he could see her where the moon used to be.
He turned around and saw that she was chasing him.
It didn't matter though, he looked at the frog he was carrying, What was their name again? Sprig.
He knew a way to get rid of Anne, he smiled.
They exited the forest and came to a clifftop.
Scumdrop slammed on the arachnid back, and it came to a stop.
He smiled and jumped off the creature running towards the edge, he took a good look, they had to be 300 feet above, the frog boy would be dead when he dropped him.
That's when the snail arrived, Anne, the toad and the Eft jumped off.
On Anne's face was a look of anger.
"LET HER GO!" she demanded.
Scrumdrop sighed, He was out of his mind, but he still didn't appreciate the cliché, "Original thing to say Anne."
"I'm not Anne," said Anne, "Just put her down, and I'll let you go."
"HA" shouted Scrumdrop, "Do you think I'll believe the girl who ruined everything."
"Max" shouted Sprig, "Go, I'll be fine."
…
Max stood there worried, Scumdrop was out of his mind, he had Marcy in his hands, one wrong move and he'd drop her.
He turned to Lucian, he could see that the toad wanted to do something, but even he knew he couldn't risk his best friend.
Nicole looked just as scared, They were stuck here.
That's he noticed the shadow moving around them, he looked up and what he saw gave him an idea.
"Scumdrop, I'm willing to make a deal."
The newt looked shocked, "What?"
"You let her go, and I'll go with you."
"MAX, NO!" shouted Marcy, tears in her eyes.
"SHUT UP," said Scumdrop looking at the frog girl he then looked at Max smiling, "Well Anne, I can certainly say that it's an interesting suggestion, but how do I know it's not a trick?"
"What could I possibly do to trick you? You've got a hostage, I won't risk her getting hurt."
Scumdrop stood there for a second then nodded, "Fine, But I'm keeping a hold of this one."
Max nodded, her felt a hand rest on his shoulder, "You have a plan, right?"
He turned to see a concerned look on Lucian's face, Max smiled, "Don't worry, I've got this."
"Be careful," whispered Nicole.
Max took a step, he kept his eyes on Scumdrop and Marcy, he watched as the girl tried to remain brave, Scumdrop smiled grew wider, this was a risky plan if he was wrong then both he and Marcy would be dead.
Halfway to the newt he stopped, he placed his hands to his lips and blew, a sharp whistle went out.
"Why did you-" Scumdrop said, confused.
Max ran towards Scrumdrop, he leapt and grabbed Marcy, the maneuver pulled Scrumdrop with them.
All three of them went flying over the edge.
…
Anne arrived at the clifftop to see Max start falling, she let out a scream of horror, she rushed to the edge hoping that they would land off some sort of branch or something.
She watched as the three fell, for a brief moment she swore Max was trying to grab Scumdrop, but the newt only pushed him away.
Behind her, she heard a scream from General Yunan.
That's when something dove in front of her.
…
Marcy closed her eyes, she felt Scumdrop's grip release
However, she couldn't enjoy that as she felt the wild in her hair as she fell, she felt Max gripping her tighter then Scumdrop did, she screamed in terror.
That's when she felt the went in her hair again, this time in the opposite direction.
She opened her eyes to see that they weren't falling anymore.
Behind her, she saw the shell of Jillian Sparrow, in front of her was the smile face of Max, "You were right, Jill is a fantastic bird."
"What happened to Scum-"
Max kept quiet, she was surprised to see a look of guilt on his face, it lasted for only a second, then he smiled, "Let's just hope I can land this thing."
…
Anne watched as the bird rushed flew in front of her, She smiled possible the biggest smile she had ever smiled before.
The bird flew around awkwardly for a few seconds, She guessed Max didn't intend to do a loop-de-loop, but soon they handed in between her and the rest of the town.
She ran towards the Bird, before she could say anything, she saw Max turn to Marcy.
"You need some help getting down?"
"Well I-"
Before she could finish, Max picked her up bridal style and jumped off the bird, Anne could see that the frog girl looked at him, her cheeks were read.
"Max that was…"
"Yes?"
"UTTERLY STUPID," Shouted frog Marcy.
"What?" said the human boy, confused.
Marcy freed herself from his hands and landed on the ground, annoyed, "What were you thinking? We both could have died."
Max stood there for a second looking at her confounded, then threw his hands up, "I was thinking I could have saved you and figure that you might have appreciated it!"
"Well, that was dumb, why would you do something like that?"
"Because you're my friend," Max said in response.
Marcy stood there looking at him in annoyance, trying to think of a counterargument, she nodded "Well thanks, I appreciate it," she said in the same angry tone.
"You're welcome," said Max, even more annoyed at the frog girl.
They both stood there for a few seconds, glowering at each other before they hugged, the small insect hybrid purred gently as they did.
Anne stood there, a smile appeared on her lips.
Lucian and Nicole rushed over and hugged them as well, eventually General Yunan rushed over and separated the group, she glared at Max, whole laughed sheepishly.
"Do that to my daughter again, and I will do to you what I did to Ragnar"
"How bad is that?" he said, turning to Lucian.
"They had to bury I'm in different boxes, so bad."
Max swallowed.
"Did you see that?" shouted a frog.
"He saved Marcy." shouted a toad.
"He's not a monster, He's a hero, an ugly, ugly hero."
"Well, that's rude," Anne heard Max whisper.
"But true," replied Nicole.
The crowd rushed over to Max, in seconds they were carrying, cheering him.
Anne watched as this happened, she followed at a distance.
"Well, he's popular," said a voice next to her.
Anne turned to see Hop-Pop walking next to her, "You keeping me company?"
"That and this is the fastest I can walk now."
Anne chucked, "Yeah, He did good today."
They continued to walk in silence, they walked as everyone Amphibian and Human carried Max along.
"I did talk to him earlier, When I-"
"Gave yourself as a hostage? Yeah, I know." said Hop-Pop, a tone of uncertainty in his voice.
Anne turned to him confused, "What's that got to do with anything? I was trying to keep Max safe."
"True but you endangered yourself, it was the right thing to do but-"
"Are you saying I did the wrong thing?"
Hop-Pop stood there for a second and sighed, "Anne… I…We almost lost you before."
Anne calmed down, "What you mean over the last few days I-"
"No, not that, its just…you died to save us ten years ago."
"Should I have let the world die?"
"No, it's just… I'm worried about you, you threw yourself into danger, and you did the right thing by saving Max, but… I'm just worried you might do the same thing again."
Anne stood there and sighed, "Hop-Pop, if I have to do get hurt to save the people I love…Then I'm going to do."
She looked at her grandfather who stood there scared, he nodded, "Okay, just…look after yourself."
The woman just stood there as she watched Hop-Pop walk off, she knew she did the right thing today, there was no other choice but to give herself to Scumdrop…just like there was no other choice but to use the gems to destroy the core.
Standing there for a few more seconds, she shock her head and kept walking, trying to ignore the doubt in her mind.
…
Scumdrop lay there, wondering why he couldn't feel the bottom half of his body.
He lay there on the lake bed looking around the forest, his mania seemed to have ended, now he was thinking logically, which wasn't as wonderful as it sounded.
He looked at all the trees wondering if something would come out from the darkness and eat him, he wondered if anyone from Wartwood would look for him and take him to jail, that sounded just as bad.
"So this is the end of Professor Chantelle Scumdrop," he said out loud to nobody.
"Chantelle?" said a voice from the darkness, "Weird name."
Scumdrop turned in the direction of the voice.
"Who's there?"
From the forest Scumdrop could make out a short figure, his mind when to a toad standing there, but the more he looked they were slightly taller.
"Who are you?"
The figure stepped out of the forest, it was a human wearing a dirty lab coat, there was a smile on her face.
"Just someone who's been watching you, I was impressed until you lost your mind back there."
Scumdrop snorted, "Well, get it over with, have your revenge on me for hurting your fellow humans."
"Oh, I'm not here to get revenge for him, I'm here to offer you revenge."
Raising an eyebrow, Scumdrop frowned, "What?"
"My name is Doctor Frakes, and me and confident are willing to help you get revenge on Anne and Amphibia in general."
"Okay," said Scumdrop quickly.
"Wow," said short human, "That was fast."
"I can't use my legs at the moment. I'm not going to be picky at any options that'll keep me alive.
Doctor Frakes shrugged, then picked up a small square box from her belt, "He's agreed, open the portal.
Behind Frankes a small white tear appeared, it quickly opened, on the other side was a large figure, it was made of different colored metal, its chest had a glass window to some shelves, its right arm was a whisk, its left was a plunger.
On the top of it was a colander, with two small little dome pieces of metal, making it look familiar to Scumdrop, like a frog.
"A robot," he whispered, "But how is that-"
"My boss sent me to find some help, he sent me to recruit some people who have the same mindset about that fake doctor Anne Boonchuy."
"By mindset, you mean the desire to destroy her?"
"Of course."
Scumdrop smiled, The robot walked over to him and picked him up, he turned back and looked at Amphibia, "What plan does your boss have for Amphibia."
Frakes smiled, "The same one as he has for Anne Boonchuy, revenge."
…
Max stood in front of the portal, and swallowed, This was it, this was his chance to escape to Amphibia.
He had only gone to the aquarium to do one last prank before he ran away from home, tomorrow was the deadline Eddie had given him, he had no money, and no chance of ever paying him back.
Originally, he was going to buy a bus ticket and get out of here.
Now however he had the chance to escape to a different, he could go to a world where no one knew who he was, he could be live safe, he could become a hero, he could hide away from those who kept hurting him.
He looked around, no one was watching him, he took a deep breath and stepped through the portal.
Whatever was on the other side would be better than this.
Opening his eyes, Max looked around the room, it had only been a dream to that day over a week ago.
Had he really been that eager to step through that portal? If that boy had known what would happen over the next few days, would he have still done it?
He got no answers, just Sprigs snoring.
When they had returned to Wartwood the village had celebrated with a small party, Lucian had told everyone the tale of what happened, Nicole joined the toad in the story telling only ending her story to briefly tell Max that they had found Tim Treller
Apparently the giant Moths had taken him back home, and they had decided to make him their new toy, the frog was alive the Kill-A-Moths wouldn't kill him or any of the other members of the secret circus tomorrow Scroggy Joe and Tritonio would go and arrest them.
The curator, Mama Hassleback and her gang had been arrested, he had watched as the Curator who was stuck in a nearby cage offered bribe upon bride to the towns people who ignored him in response.
Mama Hassleback and her gang, had been crying when they carried her, Max felt a little bad for her, as Nicole had removed them, he had given her the little Kill-A-Piller he had.
Scumdrop however… they had gone looking for him, but they found nothing, it was possible he had been taken away by a monster in the woods.
Max didn't know how to feel about that, the newt was a monster and needed to be dealt with, but he didn't mean for what happened to happen, if he could have saved him he would have, but there was a choice between the newt and Marcy, and he chose her.
Speaking of the frog girl, she had tried to avoid him at the party, he had seen her a few time, it was like she was trying to hide from him.
If Marcy Yunan's avoidance was something he confused by the reaction of the town was something even stranger.
Frogs who had accused him just hours ago congratulated him, Wally offered to teach him to play the accordion, Loggle had cared a little wooden figure of him, Mrs Croaker had walked up to him to tell him that he didn't need to work on the farm, Marcy had told her everything, and she had a very fitting replacement in mind.
General Yunan had come up to him and thanked him, then threatened that if he ever did that again she would make what happened to Ragnar look nice by comparison, Lucian's parents had hugged him while crying, thanking him for saving their son.
The Plantars had been beaming over him," Hop-Pop had been proudly proclaiming that he had now five heroic grandchildren, Sprig said he was writing a song celebrating his actions, Frobo had been throwing him into the sky, Polly gave him a knowing nod, and had whispered "Good job protecting your idiots."
Reaction from the humans had been just as kind, Marcy the webcomic artist promised to add him into her comic for fun, his own therapist promised they'd talk later, but she told he was doing great, the Boonchuys had offered him free food at the restaurant for the rest of his life.
With all of this Max should have been happy, the town loved him, they saw him as a hero.
But he knew that was a lie, he had just saved them from his own mistake, if he had stayed back on earth, they'd be safe, the Secret Circus had found them because his friends wanted to help him.
Heck, if the town knew what he had done back on earth, they'd see him for who he really was in a second.
Standing up he walked to the door and opened it, he parched he needed a drink, he was wearing his new clothes, not that he had anything to change into.
Walking downstairs he entered the kitchen, using the pump he got himself a drink.
That's when he noticed the open door.
Had someone broke in?
Walking slowly to the entrance, he opened the door.
In the sky, there were small green dots of light flying about.
Fireflies.
They were beautiful, like little stars flying closer to earth.
"Sprig one told me they're that color, so the larva could find their moms."
Max turned around to see Anne sitting on the bench, she was smiling a tired smile, he could tell that despite that blanket she had on, she was in a white shirt and shorts, basic Pajamas.
"Is that true?"
Anne shrugged, "I'm a herpetologist, not an Entomologist.
Max nodded, "Fair. What are you doing up?"
"Just thinking, Hop-Pop and I talked about something earlier, it's nothing."
Max walked over to her and sat next to her, Anne had been the only one he hadn't seen at the party, he figure she had other things to do, maybe she was ashamed of him.
"It's my fault all this happened," he said quietly.
"What?"
Tears started to appear in the boy's eyes, "If I hadn't run away yesterday, you wouldn't have been captured and my friends would have been safe, and the town would have-
"Max," said Anne gently, "calm down, it's not your fault."
"It is though, I did everything wrong, and despite helping people still suffered for what I did… Marcy almost died."
"And you saved her," said Anne gently, "Not in a way I want you to ever do again, but you did it."
"But I still threw that rock at that bully and-"
"Which you did to defend your friends, trust me I did the same."
"Those toads?"
"Hop-Pop told you about them?"
Max nodded.
Anne laughed, "Well trust me that was hard, Literally broke my arm."
"So You can break your arm, but I can't jump off a cliff to save my friend?"
"Do as I say, not as I do."
"That's just adult for I'm a jerk."
Anne leaned back, "Yeah, I used to think the same, then I became an adult."
The farm was quiet for a second, "Do you want me here?" Max asked.
Anne looked at him sympathetically, "Honestly, I'm not sure."
"Oh"
Sighing, Anne leaned closer to him, "I don't want you here because this place can be dangerous, I keep telling you that because I almost died weekly here."
"Yeah, Maybe I should go."
"But," said Anne in a lighter tone, "I think you're growing here."
"What?"
"You're starting to change Max, I mean you've got a long way to go and quite frankly I wished it didn't come at the amount of suffering you went through, but there's something in you."
"Really?"
"Yeah, You're brave, loyal, kind, a hard worker, more honest than you want to be, in a way you remind me of when I was here. Heck, you even came to rescue me and the others"
Max blushed, "Yeah, but I still messed up."
"Well, that's the funny thing, Someone once told me that the town didn't love me because I was perfect. In fact, it is that of the opposite, they were proud of me because of how far I'd come, I still messed up at times. Just like yesterday, It means I have to change as well."
She leaned in closer and warped an arm around his shoulders, "Max, I want you to stay here for a bit longer, I want to see the person you can become, and I'm sorry I made you feel like otherwise."
Tears were falling from Max's face now.
"Max? Are you okay? I'm sorry I didn't-"
He hugged her tightly, Anne hugged him back.
The hug only ended when Max had run out of tears, he released her and smiled, "Thank you," he said, his voice muffled.
"It's okay, I've cried like that myself before, Like the time I thought I killed the Plantars."
"How?" asked Max, instantly curious.
"Well ten years ago it started raining, I was enjoying laying in bed listening to the rain, when Hop-Pop kicked open my door."
Max sat there in rapt amputation as Anne told her story, after she had finished telling it, she had noticed that Max was not leaning against her, she looked as saw he was sleeping.
Smiling, she took a part of her blanket and wrapped it around him, she kept watching the fireflies, thinking of how they grew.
Neither of them noticed the small little Kill-a-Piller squirm it's way out of the forest, it arrived at the farm and spotted the one who fed it.
It climbed up the blanket and rested between the two giants, it let out a small yawn and slept.
…
Marcy Yunan looked down at the world below, she never really appraised just how green it was.
She turned and looked at the back of the human boy piloting the snird, on his face was a gentle smile, he was wearing a suit of armor, strangely it fit her dress, blue like one of those animated movies on Sprigs phone.
Smiling as she leaned in closer, she closed her eyes and sighed.
That's when she opened her eyes, she was back in her room, she was just having a strange dream.
She quietly laughed, what a weird dream, to think she'd have a romantic dream about Max, of all people.
He was a friend and a monster to boot, I mean sure he was brave, kind, loyal, had saved her several times now, and she liked how warm he was but…
Oh.
Ohhhh nooooo.
She liked him ...She liked him, liked him.
But he was rude, a troublemaker… THEY WEREN'T EVEN THE SAME SPECIES.
and yet….
Slowly, she grabbed her pillow and placed it over her mouth.
Her human counterpart, woken by muffled screams, she woke up and looked at the screaming frog girl.
"Um Mar? Are you okay?"
Her frog counterpart stopped screaming, "I'm fine," she said muffled by the pillow, before she continued screaming.
Marcy Wu blinked at her and shrugged, she'd talk to her in the morning.
...
