So, I've previously gotten requests/suggestions about a chapter where Harry forgives Xenophilius after the war, possibily at Luna's request. I have done that chapter here and have also added Hermione.

It was Sunday, May 3rd, 1998, and Xenophilius Lovegood had come to visit his daughter Luna at Hogwarts on the day after Lord Voldemort had met his end at the Battle of Hogwarts.

It was 2 P.M. Hogwarts time and Xenophilius was sitting with Luna at the Ravenclaw table in the Great Hall and father and daughter were quietly eating their favorite snack of chocolate pudding together.

For the first few minutes and the first few nanoseconds of eating the pudding, daddy and daughter quietly enjoyed their pudding.

However, the quiet gave them both time and space to think and something occurred to Xenophilius that weighed heavily on his conscience.

He thought of how he had intended to give away Harry Potter's and Hermione Granger's presence to the Death Eaters in the desperate hope that they might return Luna, who they had kidnapped and held hostage at Malfoy Manor, if he turned Harry and Hermione over to them.

As this realization hit Xenophilius like a stone, a look of exquisite discomfort came across his face.

Noticing this look, Luna asked Xenophilius, "What's wrong daddy?"

"I've just thought about the last time I was at home," said Xenophilius timidly.

"Oh, daddy, you don't need to say any more than that. That alone tells me without needing to be a Legilimens what is bothering you. You are thinking back to your intentions to hand Harry and Hermione over to the Death Eaters and you are feeling guilty."

Xenophilius nodded.

"I was desperate," said Xenophilius in a low voice, "I had been worried sick about what might happen to you ever since they had taken you. I was desperate for a chance to get you back and know you would be safe."

"I would not have wanted you to sell them out for my benefit," said Luna honestly, "But I understand you were very emotional about my kidnapping and worried sick about the possibility of me becoming like Darling Clementine. Under the circumstances, I understand why you reacted the way you did. I hereby forgive you. I will also request that Harry and Hermione forgive you as well."

"Luna, my love, there's no way I can face them after what I did," said Xenophilius squeamishly.

"Daddy, I will talk to them first. Unless wrackspurts have affected their brains, I suspect they will forgive you. I will make the request to them that they forgive you."

"Thanks, my dear Luna," mumbled Xenophilius.

Luna got up to leave, which Xenophilius did not protest as he knew that Luna was going to go find and talk to Harry and Hermione.

She found Harry on the Quidditch pitch playing a lighthearted one on one game of goal scoring vs keeping against Demelza Robins.

Harry had just successfully put a quaffle past Demelza when Luna's voice cried out, "Harry Potter, I need to talk to you. We need to find Hermione first though."

"She's in the library," said Harry matter of factly.

"Then we need to go meet her there," said Luna seriously.

"Sorry, Demelza," said Harry apologetically, "I'll come back if I can."

"It's okay, Harry," said Demelza in understanding, "I know how close you are to both Luna and Hermione, so I don't question their need to meet with you. I won't nose into things that are none of my business. I will wait here in case you can come back."

"Thank you, Demelza," said Harry gratefully.

Turning to Luna, Harry said, "Let's go meet Hermione in the library now."

Harry and Luna walked to the library together and found Hermione at a table reading a book called Wonderous Winged World, a bestiary published by the witch Sally Soar in 1414 about creatures that possessed the power of flight.

"Excuse me, Hermione," said Luna politely, "But there is something I need to speak to you and Harry about. I found Harry on the Quidditch pitch playing a one on one game of goal scoring vs keeping against Demelza and he said you would be in the library. I have him with me."

"Yes," nodded Hermione, "I've been reading up on hippogriffs. I'm considering getting a hippogriff as my next pet once Crookshanks expires. But that's okay. What do you need to talk about?"

"Harry, Hermione," piped up Luna, "I know what happened when you visited my house. I know you barely escaped, and I know daddy did try to hand you over to the Death Eaters. Daddy has come to visit me today and we were snacking on chocolate pudding in the Great Hall together. A very uncomfortable look came upon his face, and I asked him what was wrong. He had remembered what he had done last time he was home."

Harry and Hermione both gave Luna meaningful looks.

"I do not deny what daddy did or how he acted and daddy himself does not either. However, I had been kidnapped and he was both very emotional and scared to death about what would happen to me. He was desperate to get me back. I am requesting that you both forgive daddy for what happened at my house given the circumstances."

"I will forgive Xenophilius," declared Hermione, "Xenophilius was put into a terrible position by both the Death Eaters and the war itself. Any parent would do what they could to save their child. And he had no reason to care about Harry or me. He wouldn't even think of us as your friends as we'd never met him before that day. The only friend to have ever visited your house before was Ginny. Any parent would prioritize his or her own child over two people he or she has never met before. His emotions and actions were completely understandable under the circumstances. The worst thing about both of Voldemort's wars is how many families are torn apart. "

"And," added Harry clearly, "The Death Eaters kidnapped you BECAUSE Xenophilius publicly supported me. There's also an underrated factor at play here. Luna, I know you lost your mom when you were nine and there is no worse tragedy than a child losing a parent. But you didn't just lose a mother that day, Xenophilius lost a wife. With his wife long gone and no other children, you are all he has left, Luna. Of course, he was going to do what he could to protect you and get you back. I'm grateful that we escaped, but Xenophilius is more than forgivable under the circumstances. I will speak with him face to face to tell him as much."

"Me too," exclaimed Hermione.

"Let's go to the Great Hall then," piped up Luna.

Harry, Hermione, and Luna walked together to the Great Hall and walked to the table Xenophilius was still sitting at.

Upon seeing Harry and Hermione, Xenophilius had involuntary tears slide down his face and cheeks.

"Oh, Harry, Hermione, I am so sorry," said Xenophilius in an ashamed voice.

"Xenophilius," said Harry sharply, "You have nothing to be ashamed of. You only wanted to protect and save your daughter. What you did wasn't right, it is completely forgivable under the circumstances. Any parent would choose his or her own child over someone they had just met for the first time. You were backed into a tight corner by the Death Eaters and the war itself and you were desperately trying to get out of that corner for your daughter's sake. It's also not lost on me that with your wife dead and no other children, Luna is all you have left. You are going to protect her at all costs. I am grateful that we escaped, but I don't harbor any hard feelings towards you whatsoever. I blame the assholes and bitches who kidnapped Luna and held her hostage in the first place BECAUSE you publicly supported me. You are just a loyal and loving father who was just fighting for his daughter. I forgive you 100%."

Harry held out his right hand, and Xenophilius shook it with his right hand, both of them feeling some release and relief as they did.

"Thank you for saying that, Harry," said Xenophilius gratefully, "In my heart of hearts, I know selling you out and handing you over to the Death Eaters wouldn't have been the right thing to do, but I appreciate your willingness and ability to see the situation from my perspective at the time. I do hope we can move past this and build a cordial relationship, though I know we will never be close."

"I forgive you as well," said Hermione clearly, now holding out her right hand, which Xenophilius shook with her right hand as well.

"Harry, Hermione," said Luna gratefully, "Thank you for being so understanding and forgiving,"

"I don't have much to add to what Harry said," said Hermione simply, "But a parent should never have to apologize for defending his or her child."

"Hey, Xenophilius," revealed Harry, "Luna has been a great friend to me from the nanosecond I met her. As such, if I ever have a daughter, I will name her Lily Luna Potter after my mom who sacrificed herself for me when I was a baby and my dear friend Luna Lovegood."

"AW!" chorused Xenophilius and Luna.
