Answers to reviews:
Perseus12: Thanks.
AntoRaid98: I'll do my best to keep the story with actual thought put into it. Also, I am thinking of cutting down the harem to maybe Olga, Celestine and Chloe, though I doubt I'll go through with it.
naruto: Thanks.
GODZILLA1996: When he transforms at will, yes. When it's caused by the full moon... it's like the transformation from either The Wolfman (2010) or An American Werewolf in London, given that it's a forced transformation.
Jamieoeyes: Thanks for the review, and yeah I did look at that series, short as it was on Youtube. Also, yeah, I'm using elements from the Teen Wolf show. And who says that Werewolf was looking to make a Beta? Who says he was looking to make a pack? That Werewolf was there just to slaughter and kill. Plus, maybe a bit of it was sadistic and wanted to curse Kaeden with being a Werewolf.
Elias556: I'll do my best to show him learning to control himself.
Nikolias Dragneel: Thanks.
AkariStrife: Never seen or played that, so I don't really know what you're talking about. Trung to get onto anything with Kuroinu isn't easy.
Ryu Otsutsuki: Thanks.
Disclaimer: I do not own Kuroinu: Kedakaki Seijo wa Hakudaku ni Somaru. I only own the OC Kaeden Hunter.
Kaeden's eyes flickered open, but he shut them again as he was met with the glare of the sun as it's rays of light streamed onto his face. Turning his head, Kaeden blinked his eyes open repeteadly and noticed that he was on a hard surface. He slowly pushed himself up and looked around, finding himself in a cave which the sun's light was streaming through due to it's position in the sky. The young man had a confused frown on his face as he looked around his area, wondering how he came to be here...
His eyes widened and a choked gasp left his throat as his mind quickly caught him up on what happened last night.
The low growl...
The red eyes...
The black beast charging out of the dark forest with a snarl and taking on Mathayus, easily killing him with it's huge claws.
The screams of Kaeden's mother, his little brother and sister as the beast closed in on them...
And finally the feeling of teeth sinking into his shoulder and neck, followed by the ear-piecing, blood-curling scream of agony...
Kaeden fell back with heavy breathing, his back hitting the wall, his head throbbing as the memories of the massacre last night came flooding back without mercy or remorse, forcing him to experience the brunt of it. The realisation that his family was dead.
"The trauma after the bite is not even the worst part of this curse,"A calm and measured voice suddenly said, cutting through Kaeden's inner turmoil. The young man looked over to see a mysterious figure, a man, cloaked in shadow, sitting at a makeshift campfire, deftly cooking a deer carcass. "You wake up the followimg morning, at first with no recollection of what happened, then the mind makes the memories come flooding back like a snap of a twig. And you are left with the realisation of what has happened... what has become of you."
The man's voice was knowing and sympathetic, as if he knew exactly what Kaeden was going through.
"W-Who are you?" Kaeden demanded, still panting heavily as he looked at the man with confusion and even a bit of fear. "And where am I? How did I get here?"
"My name is Lucien." The man said, pushing his hood down to reveal a man who had to be at least fifty or slightly more than that, with dark hair that stopped at his neck, dark eyes that stared at Kaeden calmly and measurably, as well as calculatingly. "I brought you here after I came upon your camp last night... what was left of it. I am sorry about your family, and I have seen to it that they have been buried. I also tended to the mark on your neck, helped to clean the blood and do what I could to stop you from dying of blood loss. However, it won't be long before the fast healing kicks in and it heals as if it was never there."
"What are you talking about?" Kaeden asked fearfully, checking his neck only to see red bandages covering where he had been bitten. Suddenly, he stiffened as he remembered, he had been bitten last night by the werewolf. And he knew of the stories regarding werewolves, especially one very simple fact.
Those who get bit and survive become werewolves themselves.
"No... no, no, no, no." Kaeden whispered in panic as the realisation hit him like an arrow. He had been bitten by a werewolf... which meant he was to become a werewolf! A beast... a monster... who will go and start slaughtering innocent men, women and children like other werewolves have done. Every full moon, he'd become a monster...
And the worst of it was... there was no cure to the disease.
"Calm down." Lucien said calmly as Kaeden started to get more worked up, though he couldn't fault the young man for his reaction. All of them had reacted like that when they found out what they were going to become. "Come. Sit. Have some cooked deer, it'll ease your mind off your inner turmoil."
"How can you be so calm?" Kaeden's voice wavered with anger and fear, his hands trembling as he faced the grim reality of his fate. "I just lost my entire family to a monster and I am going to become one myself! A monster who will start killing people!"
Lucien just stared at him. "Sit. Down." He repeated himself, though there was slightly more force in his words this time. "And I will tell you everything you need to know about being a werewolf."
Kaeden scoffed. "Oh, and you're such an expert? How can you claim to know everything about werewolves?"
"Because I am one myself." Lucien said calmly again, eyes barely blinking. Kaeden stiffened at this reveal, his mind turning to hostile conclusions. Lucien held a hand up. "Before you ask, no, I was not the one who attacked you and your family last night. That was another werewolf, one who has been causing a lot of trouble around these parts lately. Now sit down and let me explain what you've become and everything there is to know about being a werewolf."
Kaeden stared at him, weighing his options... but he didn't really have any. He was lost, was due to become a beast, and he had no idea what to do. Slowly, he got up and approached the makeshift camp, taking a seat across the fire and away from Lucien who didn't seem that bothered of Kaeden's distance. He understood why the young man was so hostile and distrusting towards him, as well as skeptic about his intentions.
Lucien took a piece of cooked deer meat and handed it to Kaeden, who took slow bites out of the meat, slowly still trying to come to terms with his fate. Lucien turned back to the fire and spoke.
"The curse of the werewolf isn't like what you believe it to be, like what others believe it to be." He began calmly, his voice composed and patient. "You can become one of them through a bite, and that's only if you survive the attack because most werewolves devour and maul their prey to death. There are benefits to being a werewolf, such as the heightened senses. You'll be able to see better than you could before. Your sense of smell will be so strong you can pick up things from miles away, and that works with the hearing. You'll be able to hear even the smallest of sounds as if they were right beside you. You'll have the strength of a hundred men, great agility which will help should you ever be in combat. You'll even be able to heal from grievous wounds, though not instantly."
"At what price?" Kaeden asked. It was a curse, curses always had prices to the benefits.
"Silver is our biggest weakness. Werewolf hunters have gone out of their way to forge silver-tipped arrows, which will give you such pain and slow you down if struck with. There has also been weapons forged with pure silver, though not everyone wields silver blades." Lucien said before sighing. "Only hunters seem to do so, as everyone else is focused on this war. I'm honestly surprised not all of our kind have been brought into the Dark Army and serving the Dark Queen herself. But anyway, you must be careful when around silverware. It's dangerous to a Lycanthrope. There's also the natural instincts of the wolf when in werewolf form, for it will always look to assume control, and on every night of the full moon the instincts are at their strongest as the wolf assumes full control, making them more dangerous than if they transformed without the sway of the full moon."
"What do you mean?" Kaeden asked with a frown.
"Not all werewolves transform every full moon, we can even transform at will." Lucien revealed, much to Kaeden's shock. "Even in daylight, but the wolf and human sides are always battling for control, and we are still very dangerous predators. But when the full moon comes, the transformation is caused unwillingly and forcefully, and the wolf assumes full control, making us ten times more dangerous to others. When your first full moon comes in twenty nine days, I'd advise you be far away from civilisation if you don't want to kill innocents. And I would advise that you prepare yourself for that night as well, for the first transformation is always the most intense, the most dangerous." Lucien's voice was solemn, his gaze locked with Kaeden's.
As the weight of his newfound reality settled in, Kaeden felt the tendrils of fear and uncertainty creeping into his soul. The dark tones of the cave seemed to echo his inner turmoil, a harbinger of the trials that lay ahead as the countdown to the full moon began.
Short chapter, I know, and it's more of exposition, but give me a break I'm trying my best to make an interesting story here. It's not easy when Kuroinu isn't exactly easy to access, especially with Safesearch automatically set on and can't be turned off. And this was more of an exposition chapter, just to have Kaeden know what he's going to be dealing with.
If anyone wants to help out with making this story, contact me on Discord, and I'll share documents with them. They can help suggest ideas and help me write the chapter out. Though I would advice it be someone who knows much about Kuroinu, as well as how to make a good horror story with a Werewolf.
Harem: Olga, Celestine, Chloe, Claudia, Maia, Kaguya, Alicia, Prim, and Luu-Luu.
