The male could hear people shouting in the distance and Gang Orca's pained yell as the stone toppled down. His ears were ringing from the explosion his palm had created. Bakugo came to and everything was dark. He had lost hold of Alice somehow during the collapse and reached around, but couldnt find her. "Alice? Alice, are you there?" He scrambled for his pouch and clicked on the flashlight he had for emergencies.
Alice was laying on her back a few feet away, she had right arm up and Chess had formed a half circle above them. A copper piping had lodged itself through her left shoulder, pinning her to the ground. She dropped her arm and the rubble above them creaked, but didnt move. Chess shifted and plopped down onto his owner's chest, panting for breath. "Im okay..." She said after a moment of gathering herself. "Everything hurts, but Im okay."
"You fucking IDIOT!" Bakugo scrambled over to her, looking over her shoulder and face where some rubble had hit her straight on. "You stupid fucking idiot. You could have gotten yourself killed! Do you know how stupid this whole fucking hero act was?"
Alice winced at the yelling, finally getting a word in after Bakugo stopped to take a breath. "I know... I know. Sorry. I... P-please dont yell at me. I cant deal with that right now." She managed, the lump forming in her throat again.
"What?" The male managed to stammer out, caught off guard. He leaned back and looked down at her, she looked ready to cry. His anger extinguished instantly.
"Please dont yell at me. It always hurts my ears." Bakugo grew quiet at that statement. A lot of people told him his yelling hurt their ears, but the way she said it hit a lot harder than most.
"I... I... Sorry."
"You didnt know, you wanted me to be more clear on what I wanted, right?" She tried to crack a smile at him, but ended up hacking up more blood.
Bakugo gritted his teeth and glanced at the cat-shaped blob on the girl's chest. She was right, but now wasnt the time. They needed to get her sitting up to access the damage. "Listen here cat, we gotta cut this pipe, can you do that?" He looked at Chess, who had turned his head to lock eyes with Bakugo. There was a moment of silence between the pair before Chess turned his attention back to the pipe, his paw shifted to that of a small blade and sliced through the material with ease. Bakugo tossed the top part away and helped dislodge the girl so she could sit up after he figured her neck wasnt broken. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her against his chest so she was more supported.
"You called me Alice." Alice mused after another moment of silence. Her head was spinning now that she was sitting up.
"What?" Bakugo looked down at the girl with his brows raised. What did she just say?
"You called me by my actual name, not "Support." A manic laugh bubbled up from her throat. "You've never called me by my first name before."
Bakugo felt his entire face heat up and he shook his head, "You must be hallucinating." But she was right. He had used her first name. He'd been so scared when the ceiling collapsed that his desperate attempt to call for her had been her first name. Now was not the time for him to be embarrassed. He glanced down, meeting the girl's magenta gaze. She looked a bit more at ease now, but he figured it was the shock settling in. "Lets fucking hope they can get to us soon." He grumbled, trying to distract himself and her.
"Yeah... I dont know if I can stay awake." Alice managed, closing her eyes and relaxing against the boy.
"You fucking better stay awake." Bakugo jostled the girl and she opened her eyes, glaring up at him. "Tell me about how your mission went with Shitty hair."
"Kirishima."
"Yes, Kirishima." Bakugo rolled his eyes. It felt weird calling people by their names.
"Mmm," Alice took a deep breath and shook her head. "We faced off a mid-level Nomu and did a bunch of patrols. Truthfully, I think Kirishima is gonna be a great Hero."
Bakugo snorted, "Sure he is, what did you guys talk about?" He had to keep her awake. He didnt know how much blood she had lost or how hard she had hit her head.
"You." Alice muttered under her breath. Her head was spinning. She was so tired and Bakugo wouldnt let her sleep. What was the question?
"Me? You fucking talked about me? Of course you fucking nerds did." Bakugo managed to get a laugh in. "You guys gossiping like girls and talking about your crushes?"
"Yeah..." Alice laughed softly and pulled Chess to her chest. The cat just rested his head under her chin, completely exhausted.
"Wait, really?" He figured Kirishima had some sort of man crush on him. "He talk about how Tokoyami has the hots for you?"
"Why did everyone know that but me." Alice whined and pressed her face into his shoulder. "I had no idea and I feel bad."
Bakugo rolled his eyes, "Why would you feel bad? Do you not feel the same about him?"
"Not really..." Alice muttered softly.
Bakugo just rolled his eyes, but he felt... relieved? "Do you not like anyone from our class?" He rose a brow down at her, adjusting so her legs were over his. Truthfully, he didnt want to be talking about this girly shit, but if he didnt- Alice might end up falling asleep and then he'd feel worse if she didnt wake up.
"Yeah..."
"Who?"
"No..." Alice muttered under her breath. Bakugo figured she wouldnt tell him, he just rolled his eyes at her. "Someone who wouldnt give me the time of day." She muttered.
Bakugo sighed in frustration, "I think you are talking out of your ass." He shook his head. "You are a pretty good person. I dont know why anyone wouldnt give you the time of day."
"I dunno," Alice replied back to him and glanced around. She couldnt hear anything or any movement. Were they even looking for them? Why was it so quiet? "Chess, can you find out where everyone is?" The cat didnt respond aside from raising his head. She didnt understand. Where were they? Why was it so dark? "My head hurts."
Bakugo bristled and glanced down at the girl in his arms again, "Listen Cat. I know you dont wanna listen to anyone, but we need to get the fuck out of here. She's not gonna last if we just end up waiting for help." Chess turned and looked at Bakugo, his white gaze held the same look Alice usually gave him. "Can you make yourself useful and find the thinnest area in this fucking concrete prison?" Chess slowly stood and hopped down, looking around at the ceiling before he went to a crack and promptly shoved himself through it. Alice laughed lightly against his shoulder. "The fuck are you laughing at?"
"He likes you. He doesnt even listen to my mom." She mused. The cat returned a few moment's later and hopped back into Alice's lap, looking up at Bakugo with a blank expression.
"So where is the thinnest part?" He motioned around them and Chess just stared at him, unblinking. Alice mused faintly and reached out to gently take the male's hand, pointing it slightly to the upper left part of their small concrete prison.
"There. He says that there is an opening. They are trying to get someone to come help move rubble. They dont know if we are alive or not."
Bakugo gritted his teeth, "Like fucking hell are we gonna die from this. So they fucking better be ready." He sat back and wrapped his arm around her, holding onto his own wrist to keep it stable. "Im gonna blow this fucker up. We are not gonna stay trapped down here. So cover your ears because this is gonna be loud." Small explosions popped off on his palm. Bakugo readied his hand, glancing down as he realized that large black clawed hands had reached out from behind him and settled on his hips and legs, holding him in place. "Alright Cat, be fucking ready."
Endeavor and Todoroki had showed up after he had heard about his students from Gang Orca. He hadnt even really known what to do. He'd sent them on this mission and failed to protect them. That was his job as a hero. Especially to the students who had come to his agency to learn how to become the very best. The police had moved a bit of the Rubble away from where the pair HAD been, but they didnt find anything aside from Alice's blood. Now it was a waiting game until they could find someone to help dig the kid's bodies out. They had been told by Gang Orca that the police didnt have a sign of life just yet, but they remained hopeful. Alice had survived holding up a 4 story building for an unknown amount of time. They wouldnt know if the pair was dead until they found their bodies. Although Gang Orca doubted that Bakugo would go out like this- the police were not as hopeful.
The size of the explosion caught everyone off guard. Rubble and debris flew in different directions and soon they could hear Bakugo screaming at the top of his lungs. Alice had finally passed out due to the stress and they retrieved her to get her to the nearest hospital as quickly as possible. Bakugo was assessed by on site medics, which confirmed the male had broken his wrist with his last explosion. He didnt seem all that concerned. After giving his statement, Bakugo was sent back to the Agency to relax.
The days went by slowly. Bakugo had been healed by Recovery girl and was told to take it easy, but he was still focused on the girl fighting for her life in the hospital. Staff gave them little information, but luckily Aizawa had given them some good news after everyone got together for lunch. Kirishima hadnt taken it well and a screaming match had ensued in the middle of the restaurant. It was hard. Alice had suffered a broken hip and shoulder, her left pectoral muscle completely ripped apart. Her saving grace had been that Bakugo kept her from slipping into her concussion. She had lost so much blood that she might not have pulled through if she had passed out much earlier.
