Chapter 6: Terror Dogs & Dirt Farmer

(Later in the Girls' bathroom…)

Carrie was amazed and shocked, she'd never seen and ever reacted like that to any of the bullying from any of the Snerds before, but Carrie never seen or anyone she knew be able to rip a metal locker door open like that…

"I can't believe it. Who's Gozer the Gozerian?" Carrie asked in concern.

Carrie's pointing to mirror the wall to the dark.

"What the…" Carrie was shocked.

The red eyes were dark and they in the mirror were broken.

"Red eyes?" Carrie was shocked.

The Terror Dogs: Vinz Clortho & Zuul were growling in the mirror.

"Oh my God! Dogs!" Carrie screamed.

The Terror Dogs were gone in the mirror. Carrie stopped screaming, breathing heavily & shocked… she concentrated a little more and more of the glass pieces were floating…

As Carrie continued to horror wider and wider, her first real horror, seeing that she was already starting to get how to use this ability she had.

Then the bathroom door opens, immediately making Carrie drop the pieces back to the sink. She turns around and sees Heather walk inside the bathroom…

Not feeling comfortable being around her, Carrie picks up her bag and walks out of the bathroom while Heather watches her….

After leaving the bathroom Carrie walks downstairs and pauses.

"Wait a minute. Ghosts attacked New York City in 1984. The Manhattan Crossrip. Gozer. The original Ghostbusters. That's it. Okay, I'm going to the Library." Carrie replied, as she walked and quickly went off to the Library.

Carrie walked and quickly went off to the library. As Carrie walks straight to the library since she remembers Rita told her yesterday to go there instead on Gym class…

(Later at Chamberlain Hardware…)

Eleanor pulled a can of Behr Premium Plus Interior Eggshell Enamel from a shelf.

A man, by the name of Chamberlain's Hardware Ower to Stephen King, was standing at the table, he looked at Eleanor.

"Mrs. Snell, doing some painting?" The owner asked in concern.

"Yeah." Eleanor replied.

"So, you and your family at your home?" The owner asked in concern.

"No. Um, that old apocalyptic ranch off of 99. It was my father's place." Eleanor replied, as she grabbed two roller brushes.

"Dirt Farmer had a family?" The owner asked in concern.

"You all called him the: Dirt Farmer?" Eleanor replied, as she got a roller and turned to the owner.

"Meant nothing by it. Man spends every week working a piece of land... but never seeding, never watering, never growing a ding-dang thing." The owner replied, as he nodded no.

He rang up Eleanor's stuff.

"It's curious behavior. Great customer though. He- He bought some bizarre shit." The owner replied.

"Yeah, that sounds like him." Eleanor replied, as she looked up and rolled eyes.

(Later, at Ewen High School…)

In the Gym class, they sat in on a lecture and watched the "Cujo Attacks Car" scene played on the TV. Suddenly. Dog snarling and woman screaming on TV…

*RUMBLING*

There was an earthquake. The students looked around. Rita went to an instrument and watched it record data. Sue walked in and stared at her research on the wall…

"Miss Desjardin, what is this?" Sue asked in concern.

"Yeah." Rita replied, as she turned to her and stood up. "Um... Sue, here's a highly entertaining movie about a killer dog happening right over there." She replied, as she tried to sway her to go back to watching "Cujo" in the other room.

"Is this a seismic map?" Sue asked in concern.

"Yes. How did you know that?" Rita asked in concern.

"Because it's a map of seismic activity." Sue replied.

"Right. But-" Rita replied.

"You're a seismologist?" Sue asked in concern, as she turned to her.

"Does that seem so hard to believe, Sue?" Rita asked in concern.

"Figured you for a gym coach." Sue replied, as she turned to her.

"Oh. Um…" Rita replied, as she looked down her shirt. "Thank you, Sue."

Rita was at a loss for words. Sue looked over her papers and noticed the earthquake was neither.

"These don't look tectonic or volcanic." Sue replied.

"Okay, smarty. Here, check this out. This is a volcano, all right?" Rita asked in concern, as she scoffed and went to the white board and drew a volcano. "It builds and crests. But this is a tectonic earthquake. Notice a little P-wave was followed by a large S wave." She replied, as she turned to Sue.

"Yeah, I'm not an idiot." Sue replied.

"Clearly. Well, this is the pattern in Chamberlain. Large P-wave then a small S wave like an explosion." Rita replied, as she erased the waves and drew.

"Where is it coming from?" Sue asked in concern.

"I don't know. I don't know. I set up geophones, but I can't triangulate." Rita replied, as she turned around to Sue.

"Are you using three?" Sue asked in concern.

"Yeah. I know how many sides there were in a triangle." Rita replied.

"I just thought you were being obtuse." Sue replied, as she winked.

"Was that a geometry joke?" Rita asked in concern.

"Yes, that's why I winked." Sue replied.

"Ah. Ah. That's terrible. No, I loved it." Rita replied.

Rita directed her to the seismic map.

"I mean, somehow, a town that isn't anywhere near a tectonic plate, that has no underground volcanic activity, no fault lines, no fracking, no loud music even, is shaking on a daily basis." Rita, as she directed her to the seismic map and turned to Sue.

"Maybe it's the apocalypse." Sue replied, as she turned to Rita.

Rita turned to Sue…

(Later in the Library…)

Carrie opened the doors to the library and stepped inside. Looking around she saw there were a lot of people reading books, doing something on the computers, or printing out stuff. There were people also working in the library either putting books on the shelves, doing something in their offices, or just finishing some paperwork. Carrie looked up at the book on the shelves. She held the book: Ghostbusters: The Original Movie Novelizations Omnibus in the books & found it by looking through the book cover: Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler & Winston Zeddemore.

Carrie looked at the computers and saw one of the computers wasn't being used. Carrie walked over to the seat and sat down. Carrie was about to type what she wanted to search when she heard some fast typing next to her. As Carrie turned to her right and saw a boy she would see most of the time here in the library when she came. She heard his name before, Tommy's friend: Freddy Holt He was typing something fast. He stopped and turned to look at her when she was staring at him…

Carrie sat in a chair and opened up Tobin's Spirit Guide to a page on water spirits and a full page black and white illustration of a wizard casting a spell over a cauldron. In the illustration, smoke seeped out of the cauldron and a winged entity was on its knees in front of the cauldron.

"Tobin's Spirit Guide to a page on water spirits." Carrie replied.

Carrie the page, there was a full page illustration of an upright Zuul in Sentinel form and a small illustration on the right hand page of a Terror Dog on all fours. Carrie paused...

"Wait. Isn't this what I saw earlier?" Carrie asked in concern.

Carrie turned around to them and she read the passage out loud.

"'The Sumerians believed in a land of the dead, a dark and shadowy realm within the bowels of the" Carrie replied, as she read the passage out loud.

(Later, at Shandor Mine…)

The tarps at the Shandor Mine flapped ominously in the wind.

"The souls of the dead are ruled by a mighty god, Gozer," Carrie replied.

A glimpse of the stone wall came into view. Gozer and the Keymaster were visible…

(Later, at Ewen High School…)

"and protected by a powerful Gatekeeper and Keymaster, in order that Gozer might rise up and walk the human plane again. The Gatekeeper and Keymaster must assume the form of beasts.' Gatekeeper and Keymaster? I don't get it. Gozer. That's it. Ghostbusters. Wait a minute." Carrie replied, when Gozer was destroyed by Ghostbusters in 1984…
