Different Perspectives Chapter 8

Author's Note: I do not own The Hunger Games

Hestia Curl, 15, District 2, The Eighth Hunger Games

Sitting in my home, I could see Paris looking tense. He's been in the Arena before, I recalled. Two years ago. Ariadne died in the Sixth Hunger Games. My brother didn't mean to kill her. Turning to the television, I noticed Acantha was nowhere to be seen. As the gong went off I watched as Theseus decapitated the boy from 7 with an axe. Dropping the axe, he picked up a knife and cleaved through the chest of a small boy from District 8. Placing the knife down, I watched as Theseus picked up his axe, swiftly decapitating the girl from 12 and gutting her District Partner. The sight of four dead kids, lying by the pile of weapons, was a sight I'll never forget. Yet these kids were just children when the Districts rebelled.

Theseus would be dead on Day 2, killed by the girl from 3, and when the boy from 6 won, District 2 mourned the deaths of Acantha and Theseus. Both would be buried in the mausoleum while my uncle would sculpt their likeness into stone, a thing he has been doing since he carved statues of Rocky Turner and Danielle Andrews eight years ago. He has an apprentice, Therin Lee, a good friend of mine. As the funerals ended, I went to the park. Looking at the statues, I thought of every District 2 Tribute who are immortalised in a statue.

Danielle Andrews, froze to death. Rocky Turner, killed by the eventual Victor. Both participated in the 1st Games. Gemma Turner, froze to death. Trolius Critchley, killed by the boy from 1. Participated in the 2nd Games. Arianna Birdwell, killed by the boy from 5. Hercules Roberts, bled to death after killing the boy from 5 and girl from 12. They died in the 3rd Hunger Games. Ursula Lavene, killed by the boy from 10 in retaliation for the death of his ally. Oliver Shields, killed by the boy from 12, the boy from 10's ally in the 4th Games. Both Athena Hislop and Granit McKennie were killed by the boy from 1 in the 5th Games. Ariadne Hopkins was killed by accident in the 6th Games. Cynthia Dobson drowned in a flood before the 7th Games, while Alastor Harris died of blood loss. That's fifteen dead Tributes from District 2, but some Districts, such as 4, 5, 7 and 12, have lost every single Tribute to date.

The Ninth Hunger Games:

"Therin!" I yelled as thirteen Tributes ambushed me, my heart beating in my chest in fear as they approached. This is a Melee! I realised at the massive amount of Tributes that was fighting. I am unsure who I killed, but by the time it ended there was four of us left: Myself, Therin, Ondine of District 4 and Llewellyn of District 8, and none of us were in the best shape. Noticing the sword in Llewellyn's hand, Therin gave chase. Moments later he returned with the sword in his hand as Ondine looked at it with envy. Grabbing her trident, she plunged the weapon through Therin's back. I watched as the weapon fell on the floor, and as quick as a flash, I picked it up, fighting Ondine in a tense battle, a duel. The duel of the fates, as an old pre Dark Days film once said. Somehow, the score for that particular scene was stuck in my head as I fought Ondine. I wasn't sure how long the duel lasted but it was only ended when the sword pierced Ondine's chest. Turning to Therin's corpse, I muttered "I'm sorry"

District 2 was glad to see me, and mourned over Therin. My uncle grieved over the loss of his apprentice that his memorial statue wouldn't be complete until the 11th Hunger Games.

The 11th Hunger Games:

"Hestia?" I heard Paris say as I looked towards the park. Two boys was running around the track. "Last one to the mausoleum is a rotten egg" The elder of the boys yelled.

"You take that back Achilles" The younger boy retorted

"I'm only challenging you to a race, Squire. No need to be angry"

Turning away from the youths, I spotted the statue of Therin that had just recently been finished, along with statues of Marcus and Sabyn from the 10th Hunger Games. Sitting down at the statue, I turned towards the sky.

I will see you again, my friend.

Sorry if it's been a while, with Pokemon and Animal Crossing taking up some time. I did watch The Hunger Games films with my dad recently. We had quite a few storms lately in the UK. I'm hoping I can post the next four chapters of Beyond The Pale later on. I would imagine both Hestia and Paris would be familiar with ancient films. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned 75 Years, just catching up with getting this fanfiction up to date with the main fanfiction. I have started work on the first part of The Vonheli Chronicles but it won't be published until I get past the Second Quarter Quell chapter of the main fic. Here's the outline:
