Chapter four: The fight for our brothers.
Donnie doesn't want to waste the human authorities patience. He doesn't doubt that they have very limited time to do this. He also believes that if the general hadn't had experience with possession before it would be different. He charges for Leo just as April is thrown off. He hears some talking behind his back though he doesn't catch what is being said. He sees human soldiers hurrying to join to try to help. He did notice that they did hesitate for a moment. He tries to not think about what might have been said behind his back. He needs to focus on helping his brothers right now.
Leo turns noticing the reinforcements and lets out a growl. He swings his katanas knocking any gun barrels aimed at him. His action does make them delay since they have to readjust.
Donnie shares a look with April and the two leap at Leo to try to get him down. He finds that they miss as Leo leaps away in time. He gets a bad gut feeling as a shot rings out.
Leo ducks his head as something flies past his head.
Donnie doesn't get a good look at it but he realizes something.
The humans didn't change their ammo.
Donnie glances to the humans suddenly wondering if they were lied to.
Are the humans actually still using lethal ammo?!
The general won't meet Donnies eyes.
Donnie tries to get a look at the ammo as it's fired but it flies too fast past Leo. He mentally kicks himself for trusting the humans.
The authorities accepted it way too easily!
Donnie however wonders if the shots are to distract them. He suddenly finds himself unsure if he's right about them still planning to kill the two.
"Donnie!" Aprils call gets Donnie's attention back to what's happening.
Raph swings his sai and Donnie doesn't have time to move. He digs the sai into Donnie's shoulder getting a cry of pain from the turtle. He suddenly cries out as he is shot in the shoulder. He rips the sai out of Donnie's shoulder jumping away. His shoulder bleeding from the shot. He also doesn't seem to suddenly want to use that arm much.
"You said nonlethal!" Donnie looks to the general who focuses instead on commanding the troops. He growls to himself as he doesn't get an answer from the other. He hurries towards Raph knowing that they have a lot less time than he originally thought. He isn't sure if this is what they count as nonlethal, or if they are actually planning to kill Leo and Raph.
They handled it too well.
Donnie should have known better. He reaches Raph who glares with a growl. "Please come back to us." He pleads blinking with worried urgency. "They might kill you." He pleads desperately with the hot headed turtle. "You can fight through this! We need your help getting Leo out of here!" He meets Raphs eyes and for a brief moment he thinks it might be working... Only for Raph to throw his sai at him. He leans away managing to dodge.
Raph shifts just as a bullet flies past his head. He snarls charging for the humans now.
"No!" Donnie cries out and hurries after Raph. He is joined by Casey. He glances back seeing Mikey hurry to try to help April with Leo. He turns back to Raph and attempts to slam himself into the other hoping to at least knock him in another direction.
Raph stops running and swings his sai with his good arm at Donnie with a snarl. He leaps back just as a bullet whizzes past them.
Donnie's heart is racing. He shouldn't have trusted the humans. He remembers how in shows they'd act all nice in order to try to keep someone from escalating things. He knows that it was for bombs and suicide attempts. He just doesn't doubt that they'd do the same thing here. He mentally shakes those thoughts off to focus more. He charges for Raph wrapping him in a hug. He hopes that the humans won't shoot him since he is seen as helping. "Raph. Come back. Please." He whispers in Raph's ear which isn't easily noticeable. "I don't want to lose my brother." He blinks away tears that come to his eyes. He then gets an idea. He needs to buy them some time. "Look. Whatever or whoever you are come with us to safety. You don't have to give him back. Just come with us. Please."
Raph seems to hesitate for a moment before laughing. He is shoved away before he dashes again for the humans.
"Stop!" Donnie pleads and tries to get in front of Raph to stop the humans from shooting.
Casey hurries in leaping onto Raph's back. "Do you want to die man?!" He questions the other who tries to throw him off. He holds onto Raph's neck.
Donnie skids to a stop and notices Casey squeezing the others neck. He realizes that Casey is trying to cut off Raph's air to help knock him out. He hurries towards the humans to hopefully distract them.
Plus it's more likely that they won't shoot a fellow human.
Donnie skids to a stop in front of the general. "Call off your men!"
"No." The general looks to Donnie with a cold look.
"What are you doing!?" Donnie demands angrily then yelps as he is suddenly grabbed by two soldiers.
"My job." The general tells Donnie before leading some other soldiers towards Raph.
"Stop!" Donnie calls out in a plea. He has to blink away more tears. He feels like they are quickly losing control of this situation. "They really are possessed! Didn't you know someone who was in the same boat!?"
The general signals to the soldiers to continue then turns to Donnie. "My little sister was possessed. The demon killed our parents and the priest who came to our home. I was forced to kill her before she attacked me." He narrows his eyes at Donnie. "On that day I realized that there really is no other way. Any who are possessed cannot be reasoned with." He turns to look to Raph as the soldiers get into positions. "If you know what's good for you then you'll stay out of this. They aren't who to eat were before. Demons do not let go of their hosts like they do in movies. They are a threat and must be taken out."
Donnie tries to get himself free as the urgency to stop this rises. He spots Mikey who glances to him. "Get them out of here!" He pleads in a call hoping Mikey understands his urgency. He turns after Mikey hurries for Leo. He swings his body managing to at least throw one of the soldiers off. He punches the other one. He knows that they are seriously going to have bad consequences for this.
There will have to be some serious damage control after this whole thing is done.
Donnie hurries towards Raph and swings his Bo staff at the others head. He might be able to knock him out!
Raph manages to throw his body away making the swing miss.
Donnie gasps as Mikey is suddenly thrown into him.
The two of them tumble to the ground.
Donnie looks up seeing Casey being thrown off of Raphs body. His eyes look for Leo only to see the other charging the humans.
April hurrying after him calling out his name.
Something isn't right.
The two are too willing to charge towards humans who are trying to kill them!
Donnie doesn't understand what sort of plan whatever has possessed them has.
If their host body dies then there won't be anything left to possess!
There is no logical way for one to possess a dead body and make it move. Dead bodies don't function like that.
Then again that might not be the plan. There could be a possibility that whatever this is just wants to kill more humans. No matter what the danger of doing so is.
Donnie decides to stop thinking. He's been overthinking things right now too much at least in his mind. He gets up even though it makes Mikey roll off of him. He runs for Leo wanting to stop him from charging the humans.
Mikey sticks a foot out tripping Raph when the other runs by.
Raph hits the ground sliding a little.
Donnie slams himself into Leo who falls to the ground. He leaps onto Leo and tries to pin him down. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Mikey leap onto Raph then try to use his nunchucks to knock him out.
Raph manages to make the first swing miss.
Donnie isn't sure that he can knock Leo out though he has to try. He also notices Casey and April hurry towards the soldiers to stop any shooting. He keeps his focus on Leo and swings his staff. He doesn't even care if his staff breaks. He just needs to be able to get Leo out of here! He hits Leo on the head, swearing he feels something invisible help shield Leo's head to lessen the blow, only for a dark chuckle to come from Leo. He is shocked that this didn't even so much as stun the other.
"Nice try." Leo shoves Donnie off of him by shoving his body upwards. He starts to get up to his feet even as some bullets fly past him. His moving helps said bullets miss.
Donnie throws a smoke bomb at Mikey and Raph just as Raph gets Mikey off. He then throws one at his feet.
Smoke covers the four turtles rather quickly which makes the gunshots stop.
Donnie is well aware that he only bought them a little time. He also only has limited smoke bombs since he wasn't prepared for this sort of situation. He puts his Bo staff away for now. He can't use it as it'll blow the smoke away. He tries to lead Leo towards some large rocks away from the humans. He does so by charging and making Leo have to dodge his punches. He thinks that it's working as Leo is heading in the right direction. His heart hammering in hope that they might still be able to save their siblings.
They are almost there only for Leo to notice the rocks.
Donnie glances back to see that the smoke is almost gone. He turns to Leo and throws more punches getting him to go towards the rocks.
Leo turns away from him and runs towards this rocks.
Donnie is about to follow when he notices Raph hurry towards some large rocks just across from where Leo is going. He feels some relief that the two will make it away from the humans. He shares a relieved glance with Mikey over this.
They might still be able to save their siblings!
Donnie turns to follow Leo to a safer spot only to gasp as Leo does something unexpected.
Leo quickly climbs up onto the rocks to stand on the flat part just by a cliff like part.
Donnie glances wide eyed to Raph seeing that he does the same. "Stop!" He pleads with a call rushing towards Leo's location. "Get down!" His heart is pounding in his head making his ears ring. His heart is pounding too much for his thoughts to start racing. He only reaches the base of the rocks when suddenly a bang is heard.
A splatter shoots from Leo's head and he falls forward.
Donnie freezes as all he can do is stare in horror at what is happening.
Leo hits the rocks he was standing on. He is on his stomach with one arm hanging off the edge. His other arm bent to be right beside his head that is be the edge though not over it. His eyes closed and his head bleeding.
Donnies gaze becomes blurry with tears. He whips his head around upon hearing Mikey scream.
Raph falls to his side with his head over the edge of the rocks he was on. His arms laying out in front of him on the rock. His head also bleeding.
Donnie falls to his knees barely registering soldiers rushing past to check that the two are really dead.
This can't be happening. This can't be real.
Donnie looks down even as a figure that looks like April tries to get his attention.
Leo and Raph are dead! They weee shot through the side of their heads! Even if they aren't dead then the humans will finish them off.
Donnie shuts his eyes tightly feeling his heart hurt terribly. He couldn't save them! He couldn't save them! He blinks as he is suddenly pulled into a hug. He notices Aprils sobs and he hugs her back.
The two hug each other sobbing over their loss.
Donnie only snaps out of it when he hears the generals voice.
"Good work soldiers! The threat has been taken care of!"
Donnie turns to glare at the general, briefly spotting Casey hugging Mikey as the two grieve together, and he tries to head towards that bastard!
"Donnie! Don't!" April tries to plead with the turtle knowing that she won't be able to hold him back for too long.
Donnie gets away from April and hurries to the general. He hardly notices that April follows, as well as Casey when Mikey calls for Donnie to stop, and he glares into the cold eyes of the general. "You lied to us!"
"We did what we had to." The general informs Donnie. "Saying what we had to in order to take down the threats."
"They aren't threats!" Donnie angrily snaps at the general. He doesn't care if he gets shot for this. "Something just took over their bodies! It forced them to do this!"
"They killed humans!" The general stands tall and gets in Donnies face as best as he can. His attempts to try to intimidate the turtle don't really work that well. "Maybe we might have to put you two down too." His eyes narrow at Donnie who narrows his eyes back.
Casey quickly shoves Donnie away from the general, while April gets between the turtle and the general.
"They were family to us." April tells the general in an upset tone.
"Those freaks?" The general doesn't seem to care which makes Donnie's hands ball into fists. He glances to Donnie. "Face it. You four are freaks." He doesn't stop the soldiers who are starting to head back the way that they had come. He continues to stand his ground against the angry family members.
Donnie is too angry to be impressed that April manages to not punch that bastard. He will do it himself! "You bastard!" His arm is shoved away by Casey before he can swing. He growls lowly to himself glaring at those uncaring eyes of the general. He glances to Mikey hearing him call out in a plea. He sees the younger staring at him pleading for him to not make him lose another sibling. His gaze slightly drops feeling guilty for not thinking of Mikey. His hands clench tightly into fists. He spots Mikey glance with sadness to Leo then Raph.
Mikey turns away with a flinch. He starts to slightly slowly make his way towards Donnie and the others.
"Get out of here. Before I have to shoot you too. This is your only chance." The general threatens then waits for them to carry out this order.
Donnie looks to him wanting to scream at him. He barely manages to hold back. He has to protect Mikey! He can't let the other be hurt further by these humans! He feels a shift in the air that feels like some kind of darkness falling around them. He wonders if what possessed Leo and Raph are coming for the remaining turtles. He takes a few steps back hoping that he is wrong about that. He watches as the general turns walking away.
...
The two dark figures that were seen depicted on the walls in the ruins fade into view seeming giant. They appear just by Raph and Leo's feet. They aren't noticed as no one is looking to where Raph and Leo are lying dead. They silently walk over on their four legs. They move to be overtop of the two dead turtles. They have one front foot and one back foot on either side of the turtles bodies. They lower their heads until the ends of their noses are pointed at the two. Their eyes staring at the twos heads that they are hovering by. They stare for a moment at the two with the heavy dark feeling getting even heavier. They close their eyes making any sign of their eyes vanish. They also vanish a moment later with an S shaped black mist briefly seen over the middle of the twos bodies; before that too fades away not long after.
No one having seen what just happened.
Raphs eyes open which now have the same look as the dark entities. He doesn't seem to be gazing at anything in particular.
When Leo's eyes open as well just barely a moment after his eyes look the same as Raphs. He also doesn't seem to be gazing at anything in particular.
The two only lay there for a moment before they both move with a slight cry which gets the others' attention.
Leo pushes himself up, supporting his body with his left arm with his right tucked close to his chest like it's wounded, his head thrown back with his legs still having not moved. His eyes still looking the same not even blinking at all.
Raph shifts up as if trying to get to his hands and knees. His head shifting a little lowly yet staring out in front of himself at nothing.
Everyone there, even the general and some soldiers close enough to hear the two let out a cry, turn to see what is going on. Their eyes widen in horror, as well as shock, as some black swirling mist rises quickly up below the two turtles.
Mikey races towards Donnie with a cry of horror at what he's seeing. He ducks behind the other though is peeking out to watch what's happening.
The swirling mist covers Leo and Raph almost like some black smoky vortex. It stops rising once it has covered the two individually. It remains there for a few moments and the air shifts like something or someone with great magical power has arrived. Something hard to describe yet can be felt in the air like magic coming off of the one with great power.
The general hurries to stand by Donnie looking on in disbelief at this.
Leo and Raph break through the vortexes which vanish when they leap out landing on the ground. They are now at the same level as everyone else. They skid a little before stopping. They both look very different compared to before.
Leo who looks at one hand casually checking it out, has blue crystals on his hands and feet reaching a little past the wrists and ankles. His feet on the ground form some ice as if anything coming into contact with his crystals freezes it. He has a chocker necklace made of crystals that use crystal shards to wrap around his neck then a crescent moon on the front. His skin now has a more blue color to it yet still has some green shade showing through. His shell is now blue with the front being the same color as his mask, the back shell being a dark blue. His gear is back to how they were before this whole thing. The only thing is that it appears like there darker blue stars on his mask. And his eyes are back to his normal color though the white is replaced by black.
Raph, who waves a hand out to the side confidently with a smirk as if enjoying what has happened to him, has the same crystals on his hands and feet though they are red. His feet having burnt the ground as if instead of freezing anything touching the crystals it burns it. He has devil horn like crystals coming out of the top of his head. His skin changes like Leo's though with a red rather than a blue. His shell does the same just with a red color, the front shell matches his mask with the back being a dark red. His gear is also back to normal. With his mask not showing any changes like Leo's does. And his eyes are back to his normal color though the white is replaced by black.
Neither of them show any signs of any injuries from the battle that had technically killed them.
Donnie isn't sure what to make of any of this. He doesn't need to look around to know that the others feel the same about that.
The two now transformed turtles both turn to the group as soon as said group is noticed by the two. Their gazes are so intense it makes something in the others plead for them to run.
Donnie checks to make sure Mikey is safer with him then looks worriedly back to the two.
Have they lost?! Are these things truly so powerful they can take over the dead?! Did they unknowingly fall into some sort of trap set by whatever this thing is?!
Too many questions run through Donnies mind. He manages to get back on track when the two transformed turtles head their way. He doesn't know what they're supposed to do now.
Let alone if Leo and Raph are still in there somehow even if it's buried within their own bodies.
