I wake up the next morning, feeling like I was hungover. But something way worse had happened. My mother told me I am no longer immortal.
I hated her before, but now I despite her with all my heart. Why the hell would she tell me this now? When we have to deal with getting Elijah back, with this new baby, with everything going on, she adds this to the equation. Ugh, I should have asked her but after she told me I was basically a regular witch now, I woke up. And now I'm here, wondering why my family can never have a break.
"Sister! You're finally awake, wonderful." Rebekah states, walking into the room and I realize I was asleep on the couch. "I would have brought you to your room, but the I started speaking to Niklaus, he made me angry and I sorta just forgot."
I slowly sit up from the couch, seeing Rebekah place down a computer on the table, before looking at me in frustration.
"You would not believe what Nik did. The reason why you could no longer feel Katie's magic is because he killed her! He messed up our plan, deceived us once again, all for his bloody benefit! And he keeps saying how, 'This is all apart of his master plan'. Well his master plan is going in the trenches because Marcel still has not given us Elijah back, even after Niklaus showed his 'loyalty' and what not! It's just freaking incredible that-"
I started to tune her out, because as she was talking, all I can think about were mother's words. 'You are not immortal anymore'. It was hard to hear those words, and it is going to take a while to come to terms with it, but I eventually would. I would eventually accept my fate.
But what about my siblings? What would I tell them? This new family Elijah has planned, one where we would all come together and truly love each other like we once did centuries ago, it would all be ruined. Rebekah, oh how she has wanted nothing more than to be human and now I technically am. Now I am the one with the deadline, and she will be left with Elijah and Klaus.
Oh my god, Klaus. Klaus will not show his care, and will look over it like it is something we cannot control, but we know him behind his show face. He will be heartbroken that he will lose another one of his siblings. He maybe did not share this sympathy for Finn, and I know I say I hold him accountable, but I saw the look on his face when Kol died. Despite the amount of times they argued, he loved him because he was his brother. I have been closer with Klaus than Kol ever was, and if I die? What will he do?
What will any of my siblings do? What...how will I tell them?
"Kalle!" Rebekah screams.
"Yes!" I yell back a little startled, and see Rebekah looking at me confused.
"Are you okay?" She asks and I quickly nod.
"Yeah just...a little combusted and all." I state, looking away from her. I try to compose myself as best as I can, because I know Rebekah can tell when I am lying better than anyone.
I look back at her with a small smile, but she still looks at me a little confused. "Alright...whatever you say." Rebekah states, pulling the chair out from the table, so she can sit. "I could use your help with this."
I take a deep breath, and get up from the couch. I'll figure out a way to tell them, but for right now, I need to act normal.
"Help with what?" I ask, as I walk to the table.
"Do you remember anything from when you were searching for Elijah? Like any images, what the room looked like?" Rebekah asks.
"I do remember something. I remember seeing Elijah and he was telling me to not come."
Rebekah looks up at me from her chair, confused. "What are you talking about?"
"That's what he told me." I state, taking a seat next to her and Rebekah looks back at her laptop.
"Well, that's very blunt. What do you think he meant?"
"Um...maybe to not look for him?" I state sarcastically, and Rebekah gives me a glare.
"I am being serious."
"Me too! He sounded very sure when telling me, and didn't sound under duress or anything...but then again, this was only a few seconds before I blacked out." I recall, and Rebekah turns to face me with an annoyed look.
"You are even less help than Nik." I put my hand on my chest, feigning offense.
"Hey, until you practically die looking for our brother, don't come at me for not being a big help." I say, leaning on the table.
"Well, you would have came back anyways so..." Rebekah highlights, keeping her eyes on the laptop and I nod with an awkward smile.
"Yeah...um how about you look for attics? Nice sized ones that could fit a bed, a casket, and large windows that practically touch the ceiling." I explain, and she nods at me.
"Right, because it will be so easy finding this specific attic in a place like New Orleans." Nik states, walking into the room with a glass of bourbon and a smirk on his face. I roll my eyes, as he takes a seat across from us. "Like finding a needle in a huge haystack."
"Mhm, and how's your plan going with finding Elijah? Or has Marcel gone back on his word?" Rebekah questions rudely.
"Marcel, no. He knows he owes me Elijah." Nik explains, and then takes a sip from his drink.
"So, what's the problem then?" I questioned, and he turned his attention to me.
"Davina. I believe she is now controlling the show and if that's the case, her allegiance with Marcel is fiddling. If her relationship with Marcel is strained, I think it's time we talk with Davina about a new alliance." Nik says with a smile, and I squint my eyes at him.
"We?" I question.
"Yes, we." Nik then places his drink down on the table. "You're coming to a music festival."
I turn to look at Rebekah, and she shrugs her shoulders at me. I look back at Nik, and his grin got even wider.
This cannot be good.
That night, Nik and I want to the music festival, while Rebekah continued to look for Elijah. I offered to help but she told me after I exerted so much energy, that it would be best if I relaxed for a little while, which I don't necessarily disagree with.
This gives me some time to break the news to my siblings. I figured once we find Elijah, I'll tell them all at once. But I still have to figure out how.
"Kalle." Nik calls my name and I look up to him. "Do you understand what to do?"
"I understand your plan, but I'm not clear on what to do." I explain, and he looks at me in frustration.
We continue to walk along the sidewalk, as the streets are crowded with tourists. No witches in sight, not all that surprised. Nik then stops walking, once he reaches this pole and I stand next to him.
"Nik, I understand you want me to talk to Davina, but how? She obviously knows who I am; I doubt she will trust me." I state, putting my hands on my hips.
Nik looks down at me with a smile. "Well, she doesn't need to. All you need to do is talk to her, and you'll get it easily." He explains, and I look at him curiously. "Watch this."
He stops leaning on the pole and starts to walk near the dark alley. I watch from afar, but come close enough to hear.
"Hello, mate. I believe we have a common interest." Niklaus states, handing the boy a piece of paper. "Now, head back inside."
The boy listens to Nik's compulsion and heads back into the building with a piece of paper. He comes back towards me, with a small smile on his face.
"There, I laid the first half of the equation." Nik states, and I drop my hands, taking a step closer to him in confusion.
"Who was that?" I question.
"A boy a certain girl is interested in." He thens looks around the crowd, as if he was looking for someone. I turn around to see the direction he was looking at, when I see Cami entering a karaoke bar, with a young girl.
"Who is that girl with Cami?" I question, facing him again.
"That is the lovely Davina." Nik says with a smile, and my face then turns annoyed.
"Let me guess, that's the second half?" I questioned and he nodded at me happily.
"Now all you have to do is solve it." Nik says as he starts to walk away from me. "Stay here and wait for them to come out."
"Then what?" I questioned.
"Follow her." Nik says in a little louder voice, as he was further away. Then before I knew it, I lost him in the crowd.
You know, sometimes it would be nice to just do something fun as a family without there always being another motive to it. I knew we came to this music festival for a reason, but I thought we could at least have a little fun.
I was wrong.
I move away from my lonely area, and start looking at activities on the street, while keeping an eye on that door. While I try to be secretive, I can feel eyes on me. Vampire eyes.
It's creeping me out, way more than it should. I guess the fact that I haven't been vulnerable like this for a millennium. I guess I have to get used to the feeling of actually being able to be killed.
I try to calm my nerves, by going to one of the booths. It's this old antique place, that has some jewelry and clothing. The clothing pieces remind me when I was younger. It most certainly reflects that time period. The jewelry as well, but I was never a big fan of jewelry. And seeing have much trouble a single necklace, my mother's necklace, has cause over the years? I definitely don't like jewelry anymore than I did then.
"Would you care for a new bracelet? This bracelet has been in this town for centuries, and it said that it was here before the originals arrived. It's a true antique." The lady speaks, and I give her a small smile. I don't necessarily doubt that, it does look like a bracelet I have seen centuries ago.
"Thank you, but I was just looking. I'm not a bracelet girl." I state, and she nods.
"Well, if there is anything that interests you, please let me know." She states happily.
I look at the table for a few more seconds before realizing I haven't checked the door in a while. I turn around to check, but I bump into someone.
I was about to apologize, but when I looked up, I saw his thangs popping out of his mouth, and his eyes filled with anger. You have got to be kidding me.
"Hey! Watch where you're going."
I don't have time to pick a petty fight right now, so I just calm myself and act like the bigger person.
"I'm sorry, excuse me." I state, walking away but he vamp speeds in front of me. I try to walk past him, but he makes it impossible to, and instead looks down at me with a large grin.
"You know," He thens puts his hand on my neck, and I start to get pissed. "You are not too bad. How about we spend a little time together."
I grabbed his hand from my neck, and gently removed it without throwing a fit. Stay calm. "Thank you, but no. I should really get going."
I turn around to walk away again, but he grabs my arm. "Hold up, what's the rush?"
I can feel his grip on my arm getting tighter and tighter, and that's when I had enough. I put my energy into the arm he grabbed and I make it hot. He starts to feel the burning sensation and immediately lets go of me.
"What about no do you not get." I state harshly, walking away from him, but then I notice two more vampires show up in front of me.
"You're a witch. Witches are not allowed to use their powers."
"What should we do to her?"
They both look down at me with a small grin, and one of them states, "Bite her head off, give her to Marcel on a silver platter."
Before, those threats would sound like nothing to me. Not anymore, and I highly doubt my mother is just waiting in her grave for me to almost die so she could save my ass again. That seemed like a one-in-a-lifetime thing.
One of them charges at me, but I give him an aneurism, and he starts to scream in agony. I then focus on the other guy who comes up behind me, and I start to break his bones. First his legs, then his arms, then his neck.
I am fighting more scared than I usually do, I can feel it. I can also feel the stares around us, and I am usually the one who tries to keep the supernatural under wraps. Well, not today.
A few more vampires show up, and they seem more angry. "Get her!"
Four try to charge at me at the same time, but I focus and reach their blood circulation. They all stop at the same time, and I can feel the control I have on their hearts. In a matter of seconds, I could just pull them out. Save myself.
Then I feel a whoosh in front of me, and there stands Marcel.
"Whoa whoa whoa! Calm down Kalle." Marcel states is a calm voice and I look at him confused. "Why so hostile?"
My confusion then turns quickly to anger. "Your guys attack me and you ask why I'm being so hostile?"
He looks at his guys in anger for a moment, before looking back at me with a small smile. "They probably just saw you using magic. And you know the rules, no magic."
"The only reason I used magic was because your vampires are pervs who can't take no for an answer." I state in anger, as I keep my hold on the four vampires and they grunt in agony.
"And I apologize on their behalf. But no need to kill, we both know you hate killing anyways." Marcel says in a gentle tone, and I look at him in anger. I then see the people all around me, staring at us, and I let the vampires go. "See, we're all friends here."
"Hmph." I irritatedly state. I then notice Davina leaving the karoke bar, I realize it's my time to go. "If you can excuse me, I am going for a walk."
I start walking past Marcel, and stop for a moment to say one last thing. "And just so you know, Marcel. The only reason I'm following your rules is because you have my brother. And once we get him back, I would watch your back."
I see Marcel's face change from a smile, to a small glare. "Noted."
I turn around once again, and start following Davina's trail.
