I trail behind Davina, keeping a safe distance between us. She eventually leads me to a church. One that has been mysteriously shut down, for some reason.
You know, the more I followed her, the more I wondered what my goal here would be? How I would talk to her and what I would say to her? I've been so distracted with my own problems, I haven't even thought this whole thing through.
Too late now, I am already here, there's no point in turning around now. I walk into the church quietly, to see Davina talking to this boy. He's the same boy Nik compelled earlier, and he's very young. Actually, Davina is young as well. They both look like children, despite being teenagers.
I stand behind one of the tall pillars, trying not to be seen just yet. I hear them talking, and Davina mentions that she abruptly left school. After they talk, that boy, he starts playing the violin for her, while I just think.
She doesn't say why, but she explains how she can't come back to school. Which is weird. I wonder what her story is. I wonder how Marcel found her in the first place. No matter how much I complain about him, Marcel is not a kidnapper; he cares about kids, just like Nik.
But if she isn't here against her will, and she left the witches, something must have happened. And for her to trust me, I need to figure out what that is.
I then feel my head pounding, and I know she saw me.
"Who's there!" Davina yells, and I slowly make my way from the pillar, holding onto my head. Davina looks at me with anger, and I see that boy look at Davina confused. "You."
"Wait, before you go all crazy witch on me, I come in peace." I put my hands up in defense. It doesn't seem to calm her down, as she still has her guard up.
"Why should I believe you? You're an old one." Davina says coldly.
"Harsh. Words hurt, you know?" I say, jokingly but her face still stays serious. "Okay, not in a joking mood..."
"Um...Davina what's going on?" The boys asks, and I turn to face him with a smile.
She looks at him awkwardly, and I just cross my arms and wait at the end of the isle. "It's kinda hard to explain...just wait for a moment, okay?"
He looks at her for a moment, before nodding and sitting down on one of the chairs.
"Now, can we have a normal conversation like reasonable adults?" I question, before looking over her glaring face once more. "Or a reasonable adult and an immature child."
"I'm not an immature child." Davina says angrily.
"Could have fooled me."
After a few more seconds of pointless staring, her glare finally drops. She starts to walk towards me, and stops about a few feet in front of me.
"Fine, talk. But just so you know, I could make your blood boil just by using my mind so I wouldn't try anything." Davina states, crossing her arms now, and I drop mine.
"Fair enough." I state, taking a breath. I was trying to think of some excuse I could use to talk to her, but she seems like a smart girl. So I could only come up with one good solution, which is the truth. "I am going to be completely honest here. I originally came here to try to trick you into leaving Marcel and joining us."
I then watch Davina get into an attacking stance, and I jump back. "I said originally!"
"And what? You just changed your mind on your way here?" She questions me skeptically, and I shake my head no.
"Technically, it was not my idea to begin with. It was my brother's." I explain, and she looks at me curiously.
"Klaus." Davina states, and I nod.
"Listen, I haven't really been thinking straight all day because of some certain...circumstances...but my mind is clear now. I realized that lying gets me pretty much no where with stubborn teenagers like you from some past experiences, so I'm going to tell you the truth."
Davina looks me up and down, and it looks like she is analyzing my stance. "I'm listening."
"My brother, not Klaus, Elijah. I want him back."
"Why should I give him back? Your family is trouble."
"And where did you hear that from? Marcel?" I question, and she looks at me unsure, before slowly nodding her head. I roll my eyes. "It funny how you keep listening to a guy that keeps you in an attic all day."
I then start walking past her, to make my way up towards the alter, seeing that boy move a little way in his seat, as I walk past him as well.
"Marcel is just trying to protect me." Davina states, turning around to face me.
"Protect you from what? You're a strong witch, I would think you could protect yourself." I claim. Davina looks at me nervously, and she seems like she doesn't want to answer. I want to make her comfortable, so I change the subject. "Okay, I should not get off subject, my brother will be here soon."
"Klaus is coming here?" She asks angrily.
"Relax, he won't hurt you, he needs you. Besides, between the two of us, I think you can take him." I whisper, and a small smile appears on her face. Her smile quickly disappears though, and she looks up to me unsure.
"Look, I know how dangerous your family is. Regardless of what Marcel told me, I have read about the lure that surrounds your family and I have a good feeling it is not just another scary campfire story. " Davina say confidently.
"And you're right. All those stories are right, I admit." I state, taking a step a little closer. "But we are not here to terrorize this town, trust me. Niklaus may have some different motives, but Elijah, Rebekah and I? We just want our family to be together, and that cannot happen if Elijah is away from us."
"I don't know.." Davina states uncertain, and I take a step a little closer to her.
"Elijah is a loyal man, and he does not deserve to rot because my brother is a backstabbing coward." I state sincerely, seeing a small shift in her attitude. "So if you have ever really cared for someone, anyone at all, please give my brother back."
I can see the sympathy form in Davina's eyes, and I can tell I hurt a nerve. Who knew that telling the truth could get you so far?
"And what if you betray me, and Marcel, after I give Elijah back?" Davina questions.
I think for a moment, because despite my good intentions, my family has a pretty bad reputation with forming trusting relationships with people. Even people in our own family.
"You're a strong witch. I think you can figure something out if we did betray you, which we won't." I declare. Davina looks at me for a few more seconds, I stand in the same position to show confidence. She finally starts to open her mouth.
"Ok-"
"Davina Claire!" Niklaus voice echos into the room and he pushes the church doors open, and I look behind Davina in annoyance. Davina turns around, and I can see the anger from the corner of her face. "Just the girl I was looking for."
"Nik. She said she was going to give us Elijah, so whatever you're thinking about doing, stop." I demand, and he looks at me with a smile.
"Well, that's good news, but my priorities at the moment are not only Elijah." Nik walks down the aisle towards us, and I let out the biggest sigh.
"This is not going to end well." I state, walking down from the alter and taking a seat on the stairs.
"Come on Kalle, have some faith in her ability." Niklaus says and I look at him confused.
"Oh, I meant it wasn't going to end well for you." I correct him, and his smile turns into a glare. But I see a small smile form on Davina's face.
"At least your sister is aware of my capabilities." Davina states in confidence.
"She speaks!" Niklaus announces loudly. "Which is a good thing, because we need to have a talk."
Nik starts walking towards the alter, past Davina, and gives me a short smile. He then turns around to face Davina, and I start counting my blessings.
"It's funny, how your allegiance is to Marcel, and yet, all he does is keep you in an attic."
"Like I told you sister, Marcel keeps me safe." Davina declares, angrily, and Nik looks down at me.
"Really? What else did you two talk about, sister?"
I look up to him, with an irritated face. "I don't think it matters, because she already said she would give us Elijah. And yet you want to cause more trouble than needed."
"I wouldn't say that," Nik starts, turning to face Davina. "I am just trying to convince a girl that she is in a war between vampires and witches and that she would be better off under my provision than Marcel's."
"I highly doubt that." Davina states.
"Well, for starters I would allow you your freedom. And protect you as well." Niklaus states, walking down from the alter and walking down the aisle again."I mean, who will protect your loved ones from your enemies?"
Niklaus then walks over to that boy from earlier, who is sitting there really confused at all of this.
"If anyone tries to hurt anyone I care about, I will kill them." Davina fires back immediately, and Nik looks at her with a smile.
"Then why do you need Marcel? Sounds like you are being taken advantage of for Marcel's little game. In the process of all of this, you just get to rot in an attic...all by yourself. While Timothy, gets to move on with his life." Ahh, that's the boy's name.
The mood in the room is so dreary, and I put in all that energy to make Davina trust me as much as possible, just for Niklaus to ruin it all.
"Do you feel that?" Davina asks, and I look at my brother, seeing him start to sweat and breath heavily. "That's your blood starting to boil."
"Sister! Stop her." Nik demands, and I stand up.
"Davina, can you please stop?"
"No." She immediately rebuttals and I nod my head.
"I tried." I state, crossing my arms and he glares at me.
"Fine..." Nik states, then he vamp speeds to Timothy, grabbing him from his seat and holding him by the throat.
"Nik, don't." I command, but he just shrugs me off.
"Such a shame to loose him, just as you found him again. I did hear him play though, and I admired his skill with the violin." Nik says, while Timothy tries to break away from the hold.
"Nik, let him go."
"Oh, come on sister. What happened to that new 'bloodthirsty' you? I thought after Kol died, you became soulless and no longer cared about human life. You became like me."
"You wanna piss me off too now?" I question angrily, and a small grin appears on his face.
"Don't you dare hurt him!" Davina screams in pain.
"Oh I hope I won't have to sweetheart, but that all depends on you." Nik's hybrid eyes then start to pop out, along with the black veins around his eyes.
Davina then tries to break Nik's leg's, and it hurts him, but he cracks them back pretty easily.
"Nice try love, but you don't want to hurt me. Innocent people get caught in the crossfire. All you have to do is swear alliance to me, and the boy lives." Niklaus states again, and I am about to do something, but Davina's anger overshadows it.
I see the candles near the back go high in flames. A small breeze starts to flow around in the room, which quickly turns into a strong wind.
"Oh boy." I start to move away from Davina, because I know the amount of magic that is dispersed when you are angry.
"AHHHHH!" Davina screams and the church windows shatters. She sends Nik flying back, but sends herself flying back as well. I stay clear of all of this near the corner, but then everything just stops.
No more wind, the candles are lower. I look towards Niklaus, who is on the floor and looks disoriented. I then look towards Davina who is also on the floor, but she is not responsive.
"Well! That was amusing." Niklaus states, slowly getting up and I turned to him annoyed.
"What was the need for any of that?" I question as I go and check on Davina.
"We need her on our side if we want to win this war." Nik states, and I roll my eyes. I feel Davina's pulse and I feel it beating. Thank goodness she is only unconscious. I then turn back to look at Niklaus, who is compelling the boy to be quiet.
"What war, Nik? The war between vampire and witches because I don't think you stealing Davina from Marcel will help with that goal."
"The war between our family and this city!" Niklaus yells and I squint my eyes at him, feeling a huge amount of anger boiling up.
"Do not tell me that you risked our brother's safety, again, just you could win this city." I state angrily, walking up to him. But he doesn't say anything, and I actually start to loose it on the inside. However, right now, I don't have the time to yell at him.
"It's not only that." Nik states, and he grabs Timothy's arm, along with his violin. "If we have Davina, the witches can start using their magic again and they no longer have to be under Marcel's control." He then vamp speeds with Timothy to the top floor. "Which leads to Sophie breaking that bond she has with Hayley, and the safety of my child."
"Right, because you care so much about your child." I state sarcastically, looking up to him. "Speaking of, where is your baby's mother anyways?" I wait for Nik's answer, and he stands there in silence. I nod knowingly to that silence.
"What do you not get? I am doing this for our family that you crave to want to be together again. And getting Davina, is the key to that."
"Have you ever even considered why Davina trusts Marcel so much? Or why she has this attachment to him and sense of loyalty? Because until you forgive that out, you will not get anywhere with her regardless." I point out irritated. I see Nik looking at me interested, and realized that I unintentionally gave him an idea. For the love of god.
"Hm, something actually useful came out of your mouth tonight." Nik states with a smile, and I glare at him. My phone then starts to ring, and I pull it out to see it's Rebekah calling.
"Hey Bex, now's not really a good time."
"I think this is of more importance. Hayley is missing." Rebekah states, and I immediately disregard what I just said.
"What are you talking about?"
"She called me saying she needed some help. I tried to hold them off, but I guess some got passed. Now, there is blood everywhere and she's no where to be seen." Rebekah states worriedly.
"Who was after her?"
"Not after her, after the baby. It was some hunters I'm pretty sure. Can you come help?" Rebekah asks.
"Ye-" I look up to Nik as I answer, and immediately stop talking. "Actually, I need to clean up some things here, but Nik will be there soon."
I don't even ask, because I can tell by his face that he is angry.
"Seriously? You think he will actually come?" Rebekah questions.
"If he cares about his family as much as he claims, he will." I state, seeing Nik's glaring eyes, as I hang up the phone. "Now's your chance."
Nik then grabs a hold over Timothy again, before looking down at me. "Fine, but this is all on you."
I look at him questioning, but before I realized, he throws Timothy off the balcony. "NIK!"
I go over to Timothy, who is barely breathing on the floor. I kneel down to him and he is crying for my help. I just sooth his pain with my magic.
"See," Nik says, then he vamp speeds next to us. "I knew you would help, no harm no foul."
"Unless he dies." I state irritated, and Nik looks away from me.
"Well, that all has to do with an awaking Davina." I turn around, to see Davina slowly getting up and Niklaus looking with a grand smile. Davina slowly gets up, and once she realizes that Timothy is over the floor, she immediately comes running towards us.
"Tim!" Davina says, as she drops to her knees to be next to him, and I get up to allow them their space.
Nik then goes back and forth with Davina, explaining how he would give Timothy his blood, but she would owe him in the future. Like all Nik's favor eventually entails.
"So, we have a deal?" Nik asks, and Davina looks down at Timothy, and slowly nods.
Nik bites his wrist and gives it to Timothy. Right after that, he compels Timothy to forget about everything that happened, including meeting with Davina again. Which Davina didn't like, but she had no choice if she wanted to keep him safe.
Once Timothy is gone, Nik vamp speeds out of the church, to I'm assuming where Rebekah is. I look at Davina, who seems crushed and I feel sorry for her. I notice something on the floor, that may cheer her up a little.
"Here." I pick up his violin from the floor, and Davina looks over to me. I hand it to her, and see a small smile on her face. "Seems like he left this here."
Davina takes it from me, and her smile quickly goes away. She looks at it sadly, before looking back at me.
"Thank you." She genuinely states and I nod. "Your brother...Elijah was it? You said he said he was in that box because Klaus was a backstabber. Klaus put that dagger into him?"
"Yeah, why?"
Davina looks down at the violin, and looks around at the whole church, which is a huge mess. She then looks back at me, and I look at her interested.
"I'm taking you to Elijah."
