The Sorcerer Hero: Deku

Chapter four: Shie Hassaikai? Eight Fingers? Both mean the same to us

The various members of the Shie Hassaikai were at the (rather large) compound that served as the base of operations for their organization. It was larger inside as a fair chunk of it was underground, with the stately house that led into it only a bit part of it. Most of the organization was composed of low level peon-type grunt members. But there were the Eight Bullets, the elite bodyguards who serve Kai Chisaki AKA Overhaul. Although considered expandable pawns, they are each rather strong.

Then there is Joi Irinaka, otherwise known as Mimic, who serves as the general manager of the Shie Hassaikai. Then there is Hari Kurono, otherwise known as Chronostasis. He serves Kai Chisaki as his assistant; some in the Shie Hassaikai consider Hari the second in command of the organization because of this role. And of course there is no overlooking Kai Chisaki himself, the overall leader of the Shie Hassaikai. With his quirk, Kai is considered by many of his followers to be unstoppable.

...That being said, when a black swirling portal appeared inside of the house above the rest of the Shie Hassaikai compound, and the head of Kai Chisaki was chucked from it, the several or so peons who saw it all freaked. Kai's head looked like the flesh on it was partly eaten; the area around his left eye was eaten away until the skull underneath was exposed, and the eye was still in there. The right eye was closed, but the eyelids over it looked sunken in, so chances are the right eye was now gone.

The peons who saw Overhaul's head chucked from the portal had no idea of the condition of the rest of their now late leader's head as his bird beak mask was put back on. This was a deliberate move on part of the tall skeletal figure who stepped through the portal, accompanied by a butler who stood by as the tall skeletal figure made its presence known. The peons who saw all of this had been scared into inaction, with one male peon even pissing himself out of sheer fright by the show.

Ainz Ooal Gown, using an illusion spell to appear as his skeletal self, was going to enjoy his first dungeon raid in ages, and not just because of what all he stood to gain from it. "Attention, low level members of the Shie Hassaikai," began the Sorcerer King, "My name is Ainz Ooal Gown, and I have vanquished your leader Kai Chisaki for his having dared to offend me. Everyone else remaining in your organization who doesn't wish to meet the same fate will pledge fidelity to me. Am I clear?"

The peons all turned around and ran off into the rest of the compound, screaming in fright that an evil skeleton wizard with a butler had killed Overhaul. In truth, Kai Chisaki died when he was eaten alive by the cockroaches in the Black Capsule back in Nazarick, but Ainz had the foresight to have Kai's head saved, just in case he needed anything else from the late smug jackass. Using Kai's dead head to intimidate his still living followers at the beginning of this raid worked wonders, it seemed.

Ainz pointed ahead with the sceptre he brought with him, one that greatly resembled the one he used to smack Guu the War Troll around for a bit before killing him. "Sebas, the goal here is to take over this compound, all that it has to offer, and claim as many of the members of the Shie Hassaikai as my subordinates as possible," Ainz said, "That being said, we're to avoid killing anyone. But if any Shie Hassaikai members refuse to submit to my rule and continue to offend me, well, you know..."

"I would never permit anyone to persistently refuse your mercy, Lord Ainz," replied the faithful butler.

The Overlord of Nazarick nodded once in understanding. "Good. Let's proceed." Together, Ainz and Sebas made their way further into the Shie Hassaikai compound.

The members of the Shie Hassaikai were all in a panic. Overhaul was dead, and his killers were now in the compound, demanding to take over as the new head honchos of the organization or else any and all who refuse will meet the same fate as the now late Overhaul. Even the Eight Bullets were in a tizzy, although one of them looked excited at the prospect of getting into a scrap with someone who is strong enough to kill Overhaul.

"I wanna take a crack at the guys who killed the boss," Kendo Rappa said, cracking his knuckles as if in eager anticipation, "If they're strong enough to kill that child abusing prick, then they're bound to be awesome opponents to fight!"

Perking up a bit, Hekiji Tengai said, "Are you nuts, Rappa?! If the intruders are powerful enough to kill the boss, then they'd turn us into red smears on the wall if given even the slightest excuse! Our only option is for those in our organization to flee while the peons buy us time to escape!"

"Tengai has a point," remarked Hari Kurono, "Let the cannon fodder die to buy us time to escape! We can try reestablishing the Shie Hassaikai later and regather a following there and then! It is our only hope of survi-"

Kurono was cut off when a message from an intercom system came into the room that all of the big names in the Shie Hassaikai were in. "Sirs!" a panicked male voice said over the intercom, "The entire compound is surrounded! There's no escape! The skeleton wizard already killed four men, and he turned their bodies into big dark skeleton knights that kill all who don't swear loyalty to him and join his side! What are we going to do?!"

"He..." Joi Irinaka began, his tone of subdued shock denoting dawning horror, "...He can raise the dead as undead fighters..."

"I wanna fight one of them!" Rappa declared, "The undead are now a real legitimate thing! I wanna fight an undead!"

Toya Setsuno had the driest of looks on his face, although his mask covered most of it. "...I say we let Rappa go out to lead what peons that we have left in distracting the invaders and their raised from the dead fighters to give us a shot at being able to escape," Setsuno suggested.

The rest of the Shie Hassaikai big names all agreed, and sent (a very clearly excited) Rappa out to go lead the distraction to give the rest of them time to escape and get away. Granted, they'll be down by one of the Eight Bullets, but it's a small price to pay if it means that the rest of them get to escape from this sudden nightmare alive.

To the surprise of Ainz and Sebas, many of the peons submitted once they started seeing their fallen fellows raised as Death Knights. As all of those who yielded all swore to behave themselves and swear their loyalty to Ainz, the Sorcerer King said that they are to be spared. He wanted a base of subordinates in this second New World, and the twenty-seven who swore themselves to him thus far were a nice start to the process.

As Ainz, Sebas, and the four Death Knights made their way, they were met up by Rappa who had a team of Shie Hassaikai peons that on their own equaled Ainz's group one to one. With Rappa they had a slight numbers advantage over Ainz and his group, but any lone member of Ainz's group on their own could easily wipe the whole of Rappa's group. Pointing at Ainz, Rappa said, "Yo, are you the skeleton wizard that invaded and wants to be the new boss of the Shie Hassaikai?"

"You ought to show Lord Ainz more respect," Sebas said, a bit put off by Rappa's attitude towards the leader of the forty-one Supreme Beings, "Such uncouth attitude should be-"

"Relax, Sebas," Ainz instructed, "We're still learning the ways of this land, its inhabitants don't yet know of the requirements we will be wanting to impose." Sebas nodded in understanding and let his master address Rappa. "To answer your question, yes. My name is Ainz Ooal Gown, and I am here to claim this organization and all it has to offer. That includes the members of the organization that are willing to swear their loyalty to me. Will you be one such member?"

Flexing his arms so that his fists pointed up towards the ceiling, Rappa said, "Well since you're nice enough to give me your name, I'll give you mine! The name's Kendo Rappa, and I-"

"Hang on a minute," Ainz interrupted, his interest piqued, "Your name is Kendo Rappa? Would you be the same Mr. Rappa that a young girl named Eri mentioned to me?"

Rappa's stance changed, a bit out of surprise that lowered his interest in fighting, if only by a little bit. "...You found the kid?" Rappa asked, "Please tell me that she's fine." His aggression rising back up a bit, Rappa continued, "Otherwise I'll-"

"Eri is safe and sound under my protection," Ainz replied, "I have no intention to do her any harm. In fact my slaying of the late Kai Chisaki was inspired by me seeing him chase Young Eri down in his bid to get her back." Lowering the hand he was gesturing with, Ainz went on, "The mistreatment of kids is something that I will NOT tolerate. Let what happened to Kai Chisaki serve as a warning to those who'd consider doing what he did."

Rappa's aggression went back down, and he lowered his arms. "...Hot damn, you're pretty tight for a skeleton wizard dude," Rappa remarked, "And you're stronger than that prick Chisaki. You're saying that you're wanting to be the new top dog of the Shie Hassaikai, right? You'd be a boss I actually wouldn't mind working for."

"We're submitting to the undead, sir?" one of the peons with Rappa asked.

"I'm getting vibes from him that he's not a prick like Chisaki was," Rappa replied, "And he's a lot more human than Chisaki was despite how the skeleton wizard is technically literally not a human."

Ainz let out a good natured laugh at Rappa's comment about him being nicer than Overhaul was. "You say that an undead such as myself is more human than an actual literal human was because I have better standards than said human?" Ainz remarked, "Perhaps there is some wisdom to your words, Kendo Rappa! I get the feeling that we'll get along well."

Seeing that the best fighter on the side of the Shie Hassaikai that was in that area just switched teams, the peons with him decided to do the same, figuring that serving a sentient undead would be a better alternative to being killed by said sentient undead.

Within the next hour, Ainz, Sebas, and what Death Knights Ainz created during the raid (he made two more after the first four) had subjugated all (that was left) of the Shie Hassaikai. The remaining members had all sworn themselves to Ainz, including the rest of the big names. Ainz now had the foothold in the second New World that he was wanting. All that was left was for him, Sebas, and Demiurge who Ainz called in for assistance to do was to clean up shop and make note of what all gains that they had acquired.

Ainz first got records of what all the Shie Hassaikai were doing before he took over. It turns out that Chisaki had been using Eri's blood to make something called a Quirk Destroying Drug and a Quirk Restoring Serum. The Quirk Destroying Drug had two forms, an incomplete form which only temporarily shut down the target's quirk, and a complete form which permanently killed the target's quirk, rendering them as quirkless.

The Restoring Serum can be taken by one who had been rendered quirkless by a complete dose of the Destroying Drug to restore their quirk. According to notes on the subject, Chisaki intended to kill the quirks of notable persons, then sell those persons doses of the Restoring Serum at a premium so as to gain wealth for his organization. There was also a note on how Chisaki intended to at some point render as many people as possible as permanently quirkless.

Ainz, due to his wanting to study the powers of the second New World, by no means wanted to continue this part of Chisaki's work. He would order a few doses of the Restoring Serum and both forms of the Destroying Drug kept for study (he wanted notes on everything if possible), but the rest would all be destroyed. Any doses of the Destroying Drug out there would be tracked down and brought in for destruction, and any doses of the Restoring Serum would also be brought in but kept.

The other thing of note that the Shie Hassaikai had going on for generating income was creating and selling a drug called Trigger, which temporarily strengthens the user's quirk. From what Ainz saw on the matter, the Trigger trade was far more tasteful than the horrors Chisaki was doing with Eri's blood. He would order the continuation of the Shie Hassaikai's work in the Trigger trade, as well as call for brainstorming ideas for generating more income.

"Lord Ainz," Kurono began, a bit nervous as he was talking to his new boss who's a powerful undead, "I... actually like the direction you're wanting to lead the Shie Hassaikai in."

Ainz, who sat at what used to be Chisaki's desk in what used to be Chisaki's office in the building above the underground part of the compound, turned to look at Kurono. "Do you, now?"

"I'm going to be honest," Kurono began, "Chisaki's goal with wiping out all quirks was a bit of a money sink that was netting less income overtime, not to mention how his idea of targeting high profile targets like big name pro heroes would get the heroes and law enforcement onto us at a rate that wouldn't be friendly towards us. Your path you're leading us on now not only focuses more on building up resources and wealth, but it'll keep the heroes and law enforcement from catching onto us too quickly, especially if we're careful."

"Lord Ainz is a genius of unrivaled foresight and intellect," Demiurge said as he stood on Ainz's right; Sebas stood on Ainz's left. "He always has a reason for his choices," Demiurge went on, "He's ten steps ahead of any human who's foolish enough to even consider trying to match wits with him, and they don't even know what game they're playing yet."

Kurono nodded once in understanding. "I believe the phrase 'method to the madness' might be an apt description of such ways of planning."

"Ah ha ha ha ha ha!" Ainz laughed, his amusement sincere, "Two friends of mine from some time ago used the exact same phrase to defend some of my plans from our fellows." Demiurge and Sebas, able to tell that Ainz spoke of some of the lost Supreme Beings, kept quiet in the hopes of learning more of the exalted personages who created The Great Tomb of Nazarick.

Kurono could tell he actually stroked Ainz's ego, albeit without meaning to. Regardless, he wanted to keep up good relations with his new boss. "What orders do you have for building up the wealth and resources of the Shie Hassaikai, Lord Ainz?" Kurono asked.

"We'll continue the Trigger trade, but we're shutting down the work with the Destroying Drugs and Restoring Serum," Ainz said, "Track down and bring in all doses of both. I'm also going to want a full list of persons currently under the effects of the Destroying Drug, if possible we'll use doses of Restoring Serum to restore the quirks of as many persons as possible."

"Chisaki actually kept detailed, highly comprehensive notes of everyone under Destroying Drug effects," Kurono explained, "You can find all of said notes in that filing cabinet over there." Kurono pointed out a filing cabinet in the one far corner of the room behind Ainz to his left. "The file is labled 'Persons shot by Destroying Drug Bullets'," Kurono went on, "And Chisaki always kept it as updated as possible. It WAS part of his business, after all."

At Ainz's direction, Sebas went to retrieve the file. A few seconds later, Sebas brought the file over to the Sorcerer King who went over it. According to the notes, a total of four pro heroes were currently suffering from having permanently lost their quirks due to being shot by Destroying Drug Bullets. The pro heroes in question weren't particularly highly ranked, but the lot of them were all up in the top one-hundred pro heroes in Japan, albeit in the bottom of said list. They all also were noted to be very successful income wise.

"Can you verify that the four pro heroes listed here are truly the only persons out there suffering under the effects of the Destroying Drug?" Ainz asked Kurono.

Kurono nodded in confirmation. "I helped Chisaki with managing things, so I can indeed confirm that the info is perfectly accurate. Chisaki intended to coerce money out of those pro heroes, who are all currently on leaves of absence from hero duty, in order to fund the Shie Hassaikai. But then you killed Chisaki, took over the Shie Hassaikai, and are now leading it in an overall more profitable direction which I actually rather like due to it being more profitable overall."

"Are there enough doses of Restoring Serum available to fix the pro heroes listed here?" Ainz asked, "Due to my interest in wanting to study quirks, I figure that seeing a dose of Restoring Serum work its magic would be an excellent opportunity to take notes for further study."

Kurono looked surprised at Ainz. "We... we do indeed have more than enough doses of the Restoring Serum available to do as you wish, Lord Ainz," Kurono said, "But your professed interest in quirks... it makes you even more the opposite of Chisaki who wanted to wipe out quirks."

"Quirks are a form of power, my good Kurono," Ainz said, "And I'd be foolish to disregard quirks as a non-factor." Indeed, certain incidents while Nazarick was taking over the first New World had made Ainz want to know anything and everything before proceeding with his plans, so as to be fully and completely sure nothing will throw things off kilter. Checking the time, Ainz saw that he still had a few hours before before he had to return to the Midoriya apartment.

He intended to make full use of that time.

Ainz, while instructing Demiurge to take notes on observations as needed, first began by using Detect Quirk on the Death Knights that were dead Shie Hassaikai peons that he raised from the dead during the raid in which he took over the organization. It turned out that humans who had quirks when they died but are raised as undead still have those quirks, but the undead are incapable of using said quirks.

Ainz was able to successfully use Harvest Quirk on the six Death Knights he raised during the raid on the Shie Hassaikai, but he couldn't use Bestow Quirk on any undead. Ainz wondered if there were any non-humans that could have a quirk bestowed upon them. Luckily he had access to an entire world where non-humans existed, so the Sorcerer King had Demiurge make a note to keep track of wanting to study that idea further.

Ainz next wanted notes on the full capabilities of his new subordinates in the second New World, so he had them come in one at a time so he could cast Detect Quirk on all of them. Out of all of the members of the Shie Hassaikai, Ainz was surprised to see that four were naturally quirkless. Kurono when Ainz remarked about that said that the late Chisaki actually valued the quirkless, having seen them as pure and untouched by the corruption of quirks.

The Sorcerer King supposed that the late Chisaki had one point in his favor; he actually cared about the quirkless in the second New World's society, making him something of a rarity. Ainz had all four of the naturally quirkless Shie Hassaikai peons brought in and asked them if they were interested in receiving quirks. The four of them were all surprised, even asking if it was possible for them to get quirks and escape the torment they face for being quirkless.

Ainz said it was very much possible for him to do so, and bestowing quirks upon them would help him with his studies by gaining more information. As such they all agreed, with Ainz granting two of the four quirkless peons quirks he took from homeless persons he killed while granting the other two quirkless peons quirks taken from the peons that were raised as Death Knights. Ainz wanted to see if anything different would happen depending on where quirks that are granted via Bestow Quirk are taken from.

After those four formerly quirkless peons were given quirks, Ainz continued learning about the powers of the rest of his new subordinates. Ainz had notes taken on the quirks of everyone in the Shie Hassaikai, with quirks that caught his attention in particular being noted for further study after all quirks in the Shie Hassaikai were detailed and noted. However, something wonderful occurred after Ainz finished noting the powers of his new subordinates.

He automatically gained two new spells via his Expanded Vessel trait; Create Quirk Capacity Potion, and Duplicate Quirk. The first new spell, Create Quirk Capacity Potion, conjured a potion that's called a Quirk Capacity Potion. Drinking it permanently raises the user's Quirk Capacity by one, and one user can drink as many Quirk Capacity Potions as possible until their Quirk Capacity reaches the max of fifteen. Drinking any more after that has no effect whatsoever.

The second new spell, Duplicate Quirk, allows Ainz to duplicate a Quirk Jewel, thus getting a second copy of the quirk in said Quirk Jewel. The idea of being able to create multiples of quirks appealed to the Sorcerer King, as it'd give him the ability to make more of quirks that catch his eye. The process of duplicating quirks works by bringing up a menu with two squares in it, the one on the left of the menu (if you're facing the front of it) labeled number one, and the square on the right labeled number two.

The instructions at the top of the menu say to put the Quirk Jewel containing the quirk that is to be duplicated in the square labeled as number one, and to put a Quirk Jewel that the caster is willing to sacrifice in the square labeled as number two. The Quirk Jewel in the second square, thus the quirk in said Quirk Jewel, will be destroyed, and the Quirk Jewel in the first square, thus the quirk in THAT Quirk Jewel, is duplicated.

The duplicated quirk is as strong, potent, and stable as the original; there is no being able to tell them apart, and the quality of the quirk that's sacrificed has no impact on the quality of the quirk that's duplicated. A weak and ineffective quirk can be sacrificed to duplicate a strong and mighty quirk, and the duplicated strong quirk will be exactly the same as the quirk it's duplicated from. Ainz was a bit unsure about sacrificing quirks, but he was going to have to try it eventually.

Ainz went over the notes detailing the Shie Hassaikai members with quirks that piqued his interest. If there were any quirks he wanted duplicates of, it would be the quirks of the three ladies that he had called for. After sending Sebas to collect the ladies in question, Ainz waited in what's now his office in the stronghold he gained in the second New World, waiting with Demiurge. After a couple of moments, Sebas came back with... four ladies, actually.

The first three ladies, those being Revy Toyoguchi, Agari Fujii, and Chocho Buwabara, were the ones that the Sorcerer King called for. But the fourth lady, Rem Anisawa, was not one of the ladies that had to answer the summons of Ainz Ooal Gown. Ainz, his curiosity piqued, asked Rem why she came along, to which she answered that she and Chocho were an item and they always went with each other everywhere. Ainz, always respectful of others within reason, permitted Rem to stay.

The four ladies were all fair skinned, and their heights varied although not by all that much; Revy as the tallest was one-hundred and seventy-three centimeters tall, and Rem as the shortest was one-hundred and sixty-seven centimeters tall. Revy had auburn colored, shoulder length hair in a hime style cut, her body was slender, and she wore a black sleeveless midriff exposing black tank top, a pair of murky tan baggy cargo pants held up with a belt, and black clunky sneakers.

Agari, at one-hundred and seventy-one centimeters tall, had chin length sapphire blue wavy hair, her body was plump with Ainz estimating her weight to be between one-hundred and forty to one-hundred and fifty kilograms, and she wore a white long-sleeved shirt under an orange t-shirt, an ankle-length skirt that's the same color as her t-shirt, and a pair of brown leather sandals that were stylish but looked sort of like what men would reasonably wear.

Chocho, at one-hundred and sixty-nine centimeters tall, had yellow blonde hair in a short hime style cut, a very obese body that Ainz estimated to be up to two-hundred and fifty kilograms, and she wore a purple long sleeved blouse, a pair of dark gray sweatpants (probably the only kind of pants that a girl as fat as Chocho could find that'd fit her), and a simple pair of black shoes. Ainz never before had seen so fat a human as Chocho.

But her girlfriend Rem was at the opposite end of the weight spectrum. Rem's bright vibrant orange-red hair had the bangs frame her face and the rest in a (worn low) single ponytail that reached the tips of her shoulder blades. Rem's body was very slender, more so than Revy's, and by Ainz's estimation Rem barely weighed enough to not yet qualify as dangerously underweight. Rem's outfit of a (very baggy) t-shirt, a (very baggy) pair of sweatpants, and clunky sneakers were all the same shade of bright and vibrant emerald green.

"There is a reason why I had called for you ladies to meet me here," Ainz began as he addressed the four women that were brought to him, "Technically I didn't call for Ms. Anisawa, but she is allowed to stay with her girlfriend Ms. Buwubara either way. Far be it from me to keep two persons who are in love with one another separated."

"Why is it that you called for us, Lord Ainz?" asked Revy, she and the others nervous as they were speaking personally with the new boss of the Shie Hassaikai.

Pointing to Revy and Agari, Ainz said, "You two are the only members of the Shie Hassaikai who have quirks capable of healing others. It's the first time I've come across persons with any kind of healing quirks, so forgive me for my fascination. As for Ms. Buwubara, an aspect of her quirk also appeals to me, so I was wanting to ask her more about it."

Revy and Agari both looked surprised that Ainz was expressing interest in their quirks due to how they're healing quirks. And Chocho was wondering what about her quirk had piqued the interest of the skeleton wizard that now runs the Shie Hassaikai. Never before were their quirks valued so much, given that the previous boss of the Shie Hassaikai hated quirks to the point he ultimately was planning to wipe them off the face of the earth as much as possible.

The three ladies were all worried about what Ainz wanted with the lot of them, and Rem was worried about what the new boss of the Shie Hassaikai was wanting with her girlfriend. However, they were all relieved when Ainz began revealing why the quirks of Revy, Agari, and Chocho had sparked his interest as much as they had.

His insight even cleared up a few questions some of them had about their respective quirks, even Rem who was given clarification about her quirk despite Ainz originally not having called for her. The four ladies all stood there and let their new boss explain what all he knew about their respective quirks, as well as why the quirks of the first three ladies piqued his interest as much as they had.

END, CHAPTER FOUR

Author's notes;

This chapter sees Ainz, with Sebas helping him, beat down on the Shie Hassaikai organization, making everyone Ainz doesn't kill and raise as a Death Knight submit to his rule and swear their loyalty to him. During the Shie Hassaikai raid (Ainz actually rather enjoyed the first raid he took part in for a while), Ainz meets Rappa and manages to hit it off with him because of what Ainz did to ensure Eri's safety and well-being. The rest of the Shie Hassaikai (who isn't killed) soon submit to Ainz's will, giving him the foothold in Izuku's world that he needs.

Ainz then begins with deciding on what direction the Shie Hassaikai will head in, dropping Chisaki's quirk killing pet project in favor of focusing on ventures to increase funds which actually earns a bit of Kurono's respect. Ainz while checking the quirks of everyone working for him now gets two new quirk related spells he wants to try out. But that'll have to wait as he calls in some ladies who all have quirks that piqued his interest one way or the other, as he wants to speak with them about their quirks.

This will continue in the next chapter. I'll see you all later.
